^9:24And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him; ^9:25and he said, “Cursed is Canaan! A servant of servants shall he be to his brothers.” ^9:26And he said, “Blessed is Jehovah, the God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. ^9:27God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall live in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.”

^9:28And Noah lived after the Deluge three hundred and fifty years;

^9:29and all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years; and he died.

^10:6And the sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Phut, and Canaan; ^10:7and the sons of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabtechah; and the sons of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan. ^10:8And Cush begot Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. ^10:9He was a mighty hunter before Jehovah; therefore it is said, “Even as Nimrod, the mighty hunter of men before Jehovah.” ^10:10And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. ^10:11He went forth out of that land into Assyria; and built Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah; ^10:12and Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city. ^10:13And Mizraim begot Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, ^10:14Pathrusim, Casluhim (out of whom came Philistim), and Caphtorim. ^10:15And Canaan begot Sidon his firstborn, and Heth, ^10:16the Jebusite, the Amorite, the Girgasite, ^10:17the Hivite, the Arkite, the Sinite, ^10:18the Arvadite, the Zemarite, and the Hamathite; and afterward the families of the Canaanites were spread abroad. ^10:19And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as you come to Gerar, unto Gaza; and as you go unto Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim; even unto Lasha. ^10:20These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their languages, in their countries, and in their nations.

^10:21To Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born. ^10:22The children of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram. ^10:23And the children of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. ^10:24And Arphaxad begot Salah; and Salah begot Eber. ^10:25And to Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg, because in his days the earth was divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan. ^10:26And Joktan begot Almodad, Sheleph, Hazar-maveth, Jerah, ^10:27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, ^10:28Obal, Abimael, Sheba, ^10:29Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan. ^10:30And their dwelling was from Mesha, as you go to Sephar, a mountain of the east. ^10:31These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their languages, in their lands, after their nations. ^10:32These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations. And by these were the nations divided in the earth after the Deluge.

^11:1Now the entire earth had the same language, and the same purposes.

^11:2And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. ^11:3And they said one to another, “Come, let us make mud bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” And they had mud bricks for stone; and they had asphalt for mortar; ^11:4and they said, “Come, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach to heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we are scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.”

^11:5And Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men were building. ^11:6And Jehovah said, “Behold, the people are unified; and they all have the same language; and this they begin to do; and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

^11:7“Come, let us go down; and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.”

^11:8So Jehovah scattered them abroad from there upon the face of all the earth; and they ceased to build the city. ^11:9Therefore its name is called “Babel”, because Jehovah confused the language of all the earth there; and Jehovah scattered them abroad upon the face of all the earth from there.

^11:10These are the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old, and begot Arphaxad two years after the Deluge. ^11:11And Shem lived after he begot Arphaxad five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters. ^11:12And Arphaxad lived thirty-five years, and begot Salah. ^11:13And Arphaxad lived after he begot Salah four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters. ^11:14And Salah lived thirty years, and begot Eber. ^11:15And Salah lived after he begot Eber four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters. ^11:16And Eber lived thirty-four years, and begot Peleg. ^11:17And Eber lived after he begot Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters. ^11:18And Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Reu. ^11:19And Peleg lived after he begot Reu two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters. ^11:20And Reu lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug. ^11:21And Reu lived after he begot Serug two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters. ^11:22And Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor. ^11:23And Serug lived after he begot Nahor two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters. ^11:24And Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah. ^11:25And Nahor lived after he begot Terah one hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters. ^11:26And Terah lived seventy years, and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

^11:27Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begot Lot. ^11:28And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.

^11:29And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran (who was the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah). ^11:30But Sarai was barren: she had no child.

^11:31And Terah took Abram his son, Lot his grandson (the son of Haran), and Sarai his daughter-in-law (his son Abram’s wife); and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. And they came to Haran; and they dwelt there.

^11:32And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.

¶Complement   Abram took his family with Lot his nephew from Haran to the land of Canaan (12:1 - 8)

^12:1Now Jehovah said to Abram, “Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you; ^12:2and I will make of you a great nation. And I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. ^12:3And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you. And in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

^12:4So Abram departed, as Jehovah had spoken to him; and Lot went with him.

And Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

^12:5And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had acquired, and the people that they had acquired in Haran, and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came; ^12:6and Abram passed through the land to the place of Sichem, to the plain of Moreh. (And the Canaanite was then in the land.) ^12:7And Jehovah appeared to Abram and said, “This land will I give to your seed.” And he built there an altar to Jehovah, who appeared to him.

^12:8And he moved from there to a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Hai on the east. And he built there an altar to Jehovah, and called on the Name of Jehovah.

¶Opposite   Abram journeyed into Egypt because of the famine (12:9 - 16)

^12:9And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south. ^12:10And there was a famine in the land; and Abram went down into Egypt to stay there, because the famine was intense in the land.

^12:11And it came to pass, when he came near to enter into Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, “Behold now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look upon; ^12:12therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see you, that they shall say, ‘This is his wife’; and they will kill me, but they will save you alive.

^12:13Please, say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake; and my soul shall live because of you.”

^12:14And it came to pass that when Abram came into Egypt, the Egyptians saw the woman that she was very beautiful. ^12:15The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and recommended her before Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s household.

^12:16And he treated Abram well for her sake; and he had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, menservants, maidservants, female donkeys, and camels.

¶Opposite   Abram returned to Canaan because Pharaoh commanded him to leave (12:17 - 13:4)

^12:17And Jehovah plagued Pharaoh and his household with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.

^12:18And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, “What is this that you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? ^12:19Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’? So I might have taken her to me to be my wife. Now therefore behold your wife, take her, and go your way.” ^12:20And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.

^13:1And Abram went up out of Egypt (he, his wife, and all that he had; and Lot with him) into the south.

^13:2And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

^13:3And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai; ^13:4to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first; and Abram called there on the Name of Jehovah.

^13:5And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, herds, and tents. ^13:6And the land was not able to support them, that they might live together: for their property was substantial, so that they could not live together. ^13:7And there was a conflict between the herdsmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdsmen of Lot’s cattle; and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt at that time in the land. ^13:8And Abram said to Lot, “Please, let there be no conflict between you and I, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen: for we are family. ^13:9Is not the whole land before you? Please, separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left.”

^13:10And Lot lifted up his eyes, and observed all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before Jehovah destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah), even as the garden of Jehovah, like the land of Egypt, as you come to Zoar. ^13:11Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east. And they separated themselves one from the other: ^13:12Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. ^13:13But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful before Jehovah.

^13:14And Jehovah said to Abram (after Lot was separated from him), “Now lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are northward, southward, eastward, and westward: ^13:15for all the land which you see, unto you will I give it, and to your seed forever. ^13:16And I will make your seed like the dust of the earth, so that if a man can count the dust of the earth, then shall your seed also be counted.

^13:17“Arise; walk through the land in its length and in its breadth: for I will give it to you.”

^13:18Then Abram moved his tent; and he came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron; and he built there an altar to Jehovah.

^14:1And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations, ^14:2that these made war with Bera, king of Sodom, and with Birsha, king of Gomorrah, Shinab, king of Admah, Shemeber, king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela (which is Zoar). ^14:3All these were joined together in the valley of Siddim, which now is the Salt Sea. ^14:4Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer. And in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

^14:5And in the fourteenth year, Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him came; and they smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim; and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim; ^14:6and they smote the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-paran, which is by the wilderness. ^14:7And they turned north; and they came to En-mishpat, which now is Kadesh; and they smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites that dwelt in Hazezon-tamar. ^14:8And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar). And they joined battle with them in the valley of Siddim: namely, ^14:9with Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar: four kings with five. ^14:10And the valley of Siddim was full of asphalt pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain. ^14:11And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their food; and they went their way. ^14:12And they took Lot, Abram’s nephew, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods; and they departed.

^14:13And there came one that had escaped, and he told Abram the Hebrew: for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner; and these were allied with Abram. ^14:14And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own household, three hundred and eighteen; and he pursued them unto Dan. ^14:15And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night. And he smote them; and he pursued them to Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. ^14:16And he brought back all the goods; and he also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

^14:17And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedor-laomer and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale. ^14:18And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine; and he was the priest of the most high God. ^14:19And he blessed him, and said, “Blessed is Abram of the most high God, possessor of Heaven and earth. ^14:20And blessed is the most high God, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And Abram gave him tithes of everything.

^14:21And the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons; and take the goods to yourself.” ^14:22And Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, the most high God, the possessor of Heaven and earth, ^14:23that I will not take from a thread even to a shoe lace; and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’ ^14:24Except only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.”

^11:5Y descendió Jehová para ver la ciudad y la torre que edificaban los hijos de los hombres. ^11:6Y dijo Jehová, “He aquí el pueblo es uno, y todos estos tienen un solo lenguaje; y han comenzado a obrar, y nada les retraerá ahora de lo que han pensado hacer.

^11:7“Ahora, pues, descendamos, y confundamos allí su lengua, para que ninguno entienda el habla de su compañero”.

^11:8Y Jehová los esparció desde allí sobre la faz de toda la tierra; y ellos dejaron de construir la ciudad. ^11:9Por eso el nombre de la ciudad se llama "Babel": porque Jehová confundió el lenguaje de toda la tierra allí, y Jehová los esparció sobre la faz de toda la tierra desde allí.

¶El complemento   Taré tomó a Abram y su familia desde Ur de los caldeos a Harán(11:10 - 32)

^11:10Éstas son las generaciones de Sem: Sem, de edad de cien años, engendró a Arfaxad, dos años después del Diluvio. ^11:11Y vivió Sem, después que engendró a Arfaxad quinientos años, y engendró hijos e hijas. ^11:12Y Arfaxad vivió treinta y cinco años, y engendró a Sala. ^11:13Y vivió Arfaxad, después que engendró a Sala, cuatrocientos tres años, y engendró hijos e hijas. ^11:14Y vivió Sala treinta años, y engendró a Heber. ^11:15Y vivió Sala, después que engendró a Heber, cuatrocientos tres años, y engendró hijos e hijas. ^11:16Y vivió Heber treinta y cuatro años, y engendró a Peleg. ^11:17Y vivió Heber, después que engendró a Peleg, cuatrocientos treinta años, y engendró hijos e hijas. ^11:18Y vivió Peleg, treinta años, y engendró a Reu. ^11:19Y vivió Peleg, después que engendró a Reu, doscientos nueve años, y engendró hijos e hijas. ^11:20Y Reu vivió treinta y dos años, y engendró a Serug. ^11:21Y vivió Reu, después que engendró a Serug, doscientos siete años, y engendró hijos e hijas. ^11:22Y vivió Serug treinta años, y engendró a Nacor. ^11:23Y vivió Serug, después que engendró a Nacor, doscientos años, y engendró hijos e hijas. ^11:24Y vivió Nacor veintinueve años, y engendró a Taré. ^11:25Y vivió Nacor, después que engendró a Taré, ciento diecinueve años, y engendró hijos e hijas. ^11:26Y vivió Taré setenta años, y engendró a Abram, a Nacor y a Harán.

^11:27Éstas son las generaciones de Taré: Taré engendró a Abram, a Nacor, y a Harán; y Harán engendró a Lot. ^11:28Y murió Harán antes que su padre Taré en la tierra de su nacimiento, en Ur de los Caldeos.

^11:29Y Abram y Nacor tomaron esposas para sí; el nombre de la esposa de Abram era Sarai, y el nombre de la esposa de Nacor era Milca, hija de Harán (padre de Milca y de Isca). ^11:30Pero Sarai era estéril: y no tenía hijo.

^11:31Y tomó Taré a Abram su hijo, y a Lot hijo de Harán, hijo de su hijo, y a Sarai su nuera, esposa de Abram su hijo; y salió con ellos de Ur de los caldeos, para ir a la tierra de Canaán; y vinieron hasta Harán, y asentaron allí.

^11:32Y fueron los días de Taré doscientos cinco años; y murió Taré en Harán.

¶El complemento   Abram tomó a su familia con su sobrino Lot desde Harán a la tierra de Canaán (12:1 - 8)

^12:1Pero Jehová había dicho a Abram, “Vete de tu tierra y de tu parentela, y de la casa de tu padre, a la tierra que yo te mostraré; ^12:2y haré de ti una nación grande. Y te bendeciré, y engrandeceré tu nombre, y serás bendición. ^12:3Y bendeciré a los que te bendigan, y maldeciré a él que te maldice. Y en ti serán benditas todas las familias de la tierra”.

^12:4Y se fue Abram, como Jehová le dijo; y fue con él Lot.

Y era Abram de edad de setenta y cinco años cuando salió de Harán.

^12:5Y tomó Abram a Sarai su esposa, y a Lot hijo de su hermano, y todos sus bienes que habían ganado, y las personas que habían adquirido en Harán, y salieron para ir a tierra de Canaán. Y a tierra de Canaán llegaron; ^12:6y pasó Abram por aquella tierra hasta el lugar de Siquem, hasta el valle de Moreh. (Y el cananeo estaba entonces en la tierra.) ^12:7Y apareció Jehová a Abram, y le dijo, “A tu simiente daré esta tierra”. Y edificó allí un altar a Jehová, que le había aparecido.

^12:8Y se pasó de allí a un monte al oriente de Betel, y tendió su tienda, teniendo a Betel al occidente y Hai al oriente. Y edificó allí un altar a Jehová, e invocó el Nombre de Jehová.

¶Lo opuesto   Abram viajó a Egipto causa de la hambruna (12:9 - 16)

^12:9Y partió Abram de allí, caminando y yendo aún hacia el sur. ^12:10Y hubo hambre en la tierra; y descendió Abram a Egipto para peregrinar allá: porque era grande el hambre en la tierra.

^12:11Y aconteció que cuando estaba para entrar en Egipto, dijo a Sarai su esposa, “He aquí, ahora conozco que eres mujer de hermoso parecer; ^12:11y será que cuando te vean los egipcios, dirán, ‘Su esposa es’; y me matarán a mí, y a ti te reservarán la vida.

^12:13Ahora, pues, di que eres mi hermana, para que me vaya bien por causa tuya, y viva mi alma por amor de ti”.

^12:14Y aconteció que, cuando entró Abram en Egipto, los egipcios vieron que la mujer era muy hermosa. ^12:15La vieron también los príncipes de Faraón, y la alabaron delante de Faraón; y fue llevada la mujer a casa de Faraón.

^12:16E hizo bien a Abram por causa de ella; y él tuvo ovejas, vacas, asnos, siervos, criadas, asnas y camellos.

¶Lo opuesto   Abram regresó a Canaán porque Faraón le ordenó salir (12:17 - 13:4)

^12:17Pero Jehová hirió a Faraón y a su casa con grandes plagas, por causa de Sarai esposa de Abram.

^12:18Entonces Faraón llamó a Abram y le dijo, “¿Qué es esto que has hecho conmigo? ¿Por qué no me declaraste que era tu esposa? ^12:19¿Por qué dijiste, ‘Es mi hermana’? Poniéndome en ocasión de tomarla para mí por esposa. Ahora pues, he aquí tu esposa, tómala y vete”. ^12:20Entonces Faraón dio orden a sus hombres acerca de Abram; y le acompañaron, y a su esposa con todo lo que tenía.

^13:1Subió, pues, Abram de Egipto hacia el sur (él y su esposa, con todo lo que tenía, y con él Lot).

^13:2Y Abram era riquísimo en ganado, en plata, y oro.

^13:3Y volvió por sus jornadas de la parte del sur hacia Betel, hasta el lugar donde había estado antes su tienda entre Betel y Hai; ^13:4al lugar del altar, que había hecho allí antes; e invocó allí Abram el Nombre de Jehová.

§El complemento   Conclusión: El viaje de Abram con su sobrino Lot (13:5 - 14:24)

¶El complemento   Jehová bendijo a Abram después él fue separado desde su sobrino Lot (13:5 - 18)

^13:5Y también Lot, que andaba con Abram, tenía ovejas, y vacas, y tiendas. ^13:6Y la tierra no podía darles para que habitasen juntos: porque sus posesiones eran muchas, y no podían morar en un mismo lugar. ^13:7Y hubo contienda entre los pastores del ganado de Abram y los pastores del ganado de Lot; y el cananeo y el ferezeo habitaban entonces en la tierra. ^13:8Entonces Abram dijo a Lot, “No haya ahora altercado entre nosotros, entre mis pastores y los tuyos: porque somos hermanos. ^13:9¿No está toda la tierra delante de ti? Yo te ruego que te apartes de mí: si vas a la mano izquierda, yo iré a la derecha; y si tú vas a la mano derecha, yo iré a la izquierda”.

^13:10Y alzó Lot sus ojos, y vio toda la llanura del Jordán, que toda ella era de riego, como el huerto de Jehová, como la tierra de Egipto entrando en Zoar (antes que destruyese Jehová a Sodoma y a Gomorra). ^13:11Entonces Lot escogió para sí toda la llanura del Jordán; y se fue Lot hacia el oriente. Y se apartaron el uno del otro: ^13:12Abram asentó en la tierra de Canaán, y Lot asentó en las ciudades de la llanura, y fue poniendo sus tiendas hasta Sodoma. ^13:13Pero los hombres de Sodoma eran malos y pecadores contra Jehová en gran manera.

^13:14Y Jehová dijo a Abram (después que Lot se apartó de él), “Alza ahora tus ojos, y mira desde el lugar donde estás hacia el norte, y el sur, al oriente y al occidente; ^13:15porque toda la tierra que ves, la daré a ti y a tu simiente para siempre. ^13:16Y haré tu simiente como el polvo de la tierra: que si alguno podrá contar el polvo de la tierra, también tu simiente será contada.

^13:17“Levántate, ve por la tierra a lo largo de ella y a su ancho: porque a ti la daré”.

^13:18Abram, pues, removiendo su tienda, vino y moró en el valle de Mamre, que está en Hebrón, y edificó allí altar a Jehová.

¶El complemento   Abram rescató a su sobrino Lot desde los ejércitos invasores de Oriente (14:1 - 24)

^14:1Y aconteció en los días de Amrafel, rey de Sinar, Arioc, rey de Elasar, Quedorlaomer, rey de Elam, y Tidal, rey de naciones, ^14:2que éstos hicieron guerra contra Bera rey de Sodoma, y contra Birsa rey de Gomorra, y contra Sinab rey de Adma, y contra Semeber rey de Zeboim, y contra el rey de Bela (la cual es Zoar). ^14:3Todos éstos se juntaron en el valle de Sidim, que es el Mar Salado. ^14:4Doce años habían servido a Quedorlaomer, y al año decimotercero se rebelaron.

^14:5Y en el año decimocuarto vino Quedorlaomer, y los reyes que estaban de su parte, y derrotaron a los refaítas en Asterot Karnaim, a los zuzitas en Ham, y a los emitas en Save Quiriataim, ^14:6y a los Horeos en el monte de Seir, hasta la llanura de Parán, que está junto al desierto. ^14:7Y volvieron y vinieron a Emispat, que es Cades, y devastaron todas las haciendas de los amalecitas, y también al amorreo, que habitaba en Hazezón-tamar. ^14:8Y salieron el rey de Sodoma, y el rey de Gomorra, y el rey de Adma, y el rey de Zeboim, y el rey de Bela (que es Zoar), y ordenaron contra ellos batalla en el valle de Sidim: ^14:9es decir, contra Quedorlaomer rey de Elam, y Tidal rey de naciones, y Amrafel rey de Sinar, y Arioc rey de Elasar: cuatro reyes contra cinco. ^14:10Y el valle de Sidim estaba lleno de pozos de betún; y huyeron el rey de Sodoma y el de Gomorra, y cayeron allí; y los demás huyeron al monte. ^14:11Y tomaron toda la riqueza de Sodoma y de Gomorra, y todas sus provisiones, y se fueron. ^14:12Tomaron también a Lot, hijo del hermano de Abram, que moraba en Sodoma, y sus bienes, y se fueron.

^14:13Y vino uno de los que escaparon, y lo dijo a Abram el hebreo, que habitaba en el valle de Mamre amorreo, hermano de Escol y hermano de Aner, los cuales estaban confederados con Abram. ^14:14Y oyó Abram que su hermano estaba prisionero, y armó sus criados, los criados de su casa, trescientos dieciocho, y los siguió hasta Dan. ^14:15Y se esparció contra ellos de noche, él y sus siervos, y los hirió, y los fue siguiendo hasta Hobah, que está a la izquierda de Damasco. ^14:16Y recobró todos los bienes, y también a Lot su hermano, y sus bienes, y también a las mujeres, y a la gente.

^14:17Y cuando volvía de derrotar a Quedorlaomer y a los reyes que con él estaban, salió el rey de Sodoma a recibirlo al valle de Save, que es el valle del rey. ^14:18Entonces Melquisedec, rey de Salem, el cual era sacerdote del Dios Altísimo, sacó pan y vino. ^14:19Y le bendijo, y dijo, “Bendito sea Abram del Dios Altísimo, poseedor de los Cielo y de la tierra. ^14:20Y bendito sea el Dios Altísimo, que entregó tus enemigos en tu mano”. Y le dio Abram los diezmos de todo.

^14:21Entonces el rey de Sodoma dijo a Abram: “Dame las personas, y toma para ti los bienes”. ^14:22Y respondió Abram al rey de Sodoma: “He alzado mi mano a Jehová Dios Altísimo, poseedor de los Cielo y de la tierra, ^14:23que desde un hilo hasta la correa de un calzado, nada tomaré de todo lo que es tuyo, para que no digas, ‘Yo enriquecí a Abram’. ^14:24Excepto solamente lo que comieron los jóvenes, y la porción de los varones que fueron conmigo, Aner, Escol, y Mamre; los cuales tomarán su porción”.
