Daniel & Zechariah, Chapter 2.3 (Zechariah): The coming of the King of Zion was foreshadowed by the restoration of the Jews to their land (7:1 - 8:23)

Introduction: Jehovah wanted his people to hear and do the words of the Law and the Prophets (7:1 - 7:14)

¶Opposite   Jehovah wanted his people to hear and do his Word; but not to hear, and do the opposite (7:1 - 10)

¶Opposite   The people of Jehovah refused to hear the Law and the Prophets, which led to their captivity in Babylon (7:11 - 14)

Body: Jehovah will bless Zion with children and bring his people from abroad to live in Jerusalem (8:1 - 8)

¶Opposite   Jehovah was jealous for Zion with great jealousy (8:1 - 2)

¶Opposite   Jehovah has returned to Zion, and shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem (8:3)

¶Complement   The city of Jerusalem shall be filled once again with old and young people (8:4 - 5)

¶Complement   It is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of the Jews and in the eyes of Jehovah (8:6)

¶Unique   Jehovah will deliver his people from the east and west country, and they shall dwell in Jerusalem (8:7 - 8)

Conclusion: Fear not, people of Jehovah; obey the Law of Moses, and Jehovah will be with you (8:9 - 23)

¶Complement   Let your hands be strong and fear not, because Jehovah is with you (8:9 - 15)

¶Complement   Your obedience to the Law of Moses will bring blessing from Jehovah (8:16 - 23)

§Unique   Introduction:  Jehovah wanted his people to hear and do the words of the Law and the Prophets (7:1 - 7:14)

¶Opposite   Jehovah wanted his people to hear and do his Word; but not to hear, and do the opposite (7:1 - 10)

^7:1And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the Word of Jehovah came to Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu, ^7:2when they had sent to the House of God Sherezer and Regem-melech, and their men, to pray before Jehovah; ^7:3and to speak to the priests which were in the House of Jehovah of hosts, and to the Prophets, saying, “Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?”

^7:4Then the Word of Jehovah of hosts, came to me, saying, ^7:5“Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did you at all fast to me, even to me? ^7:6And when you ate, and when you drank, did you not eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

^7:7Should you not hear the words which Jehovah has cried by the former Prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities round about her, when people inhabited the south and the plain?’”

^7:8And the Word of Jehovah came to Zechariah, saying, ^7:9“Thus speaks Jehovah of hosts, saying, ‘Execute true judgment; and show mercy and compassions every man to his brother.

^7:10And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor. And let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

¶Opposite   The people of Jehovah refused to hear the Law and the Prophets, which led to their captivity in Babylon (7:11 - 14)

^7:11But they refused to listen, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, so that they would not hear.

^7:12Moreover, they made their hearts as hard as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the Law, and the words which Jehovah of hosts has sent in his Spirit by the former Prophets; therefore a great wrath came from Jehovah of hosts.

^7:13Therefore it has come to pass, that as he cried and they would not listen, so they cried and I would not listen,’ says Jehovah of hosts.

^7:14‘But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they did not know.

Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.’”

§Complement   Body: Jehovah will bless Zion with children and bring his people from abroad to live in Jerusalem (8:1 - 8)

^8:1Again the Word of Jehovah of hosts, came to me, saying, ^8:2“Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury.’

^8:3Thus says Jehovah: ‘I have returned to Zion; and I will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of Jehovah of hosts, the holy mountain.’

^8:4Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem; and every man with his staff in his hand for old age. ^8:5And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.’

^8:6Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?’ says Jehovah of hosts.

^8:7Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; ^8:8and I will bring them; and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And they shall be my people; and I will be their God: in truth and in righteousness.’

§Complement   Conclusion: Fear not, people of Jehovah; obey the Law of Moses, and Jehovah will be with you (8:9 - 23)

¶Complement   Let your hands be strong and fear not, because Jehovah is with you (8:9 - 15)

^8:9Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘Let your hands be strong, you that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the Prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the House of Jehovah of hosts was laid, that the Temple might be built.

^8:10For before these days there was no employment for man, nor any work for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbor.

^8:11But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days,’ says Jehovah of hosts. ^8:12‘For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew. And I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.

^8:13And it shall come to pass, that as you were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel, so will I save you; and you shall be a blessing.

Fear not; let your hands be strong.’ ^8:14For thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath,’ says Jehovah of hosts, ‘and I did not relent; ^8:15so again have I thought in these days to do well to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Fear not.

¶Complement   Your obedience to the Law of Moses will bring blessing from Jehovah (8:16 - 23)

^8:16These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth to his neighbor, and execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates.

^8:17And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate,’ says Jehovah.”

^8:18And the Word of Jehovah of hosts, came to me, saying, ^8:19“Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.’

^8:20Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities; ^8:21and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, ‘Let us go speedily to pray before Jehovah, and to seek Jehovah of hosts; I will go also.’ ^8:22Moreover, many people and strong nations shall come to seek Jehovah of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before Jehovah.’

^8:23Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘In those days it shall come to pass, that out of all languages of the Gentiles ten men shall take hold, even they shall take hold of the sleeve of him that is a Jew, saying, ‘We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.’’”

Capítulo 2.3 (Zacarías): La venida del Rey de Sión fue prefigurada por la restauración de los judíos a su tierra (7:1 - 8:23)

Introducción: Jehová quería que su pueblo escuchara y hiciera las palabras de la ley y los profetas (7:1 - 7:14)

^7:1Y aconteció en el año cuarto del rey Darío, que vino Palabra de Jehová a Zacarías a los cuatro días del mes noveno, que es Quisleu; ^7:2cuando fue enviado a la casa de Dios, Sarezer, con Regem-melec y sus hombres, a implorar el favor de Jehová, ^7:3y a hablar a los sacerdotes que estaban en la Casa de Jehová de los ejércitos, y a los Profetas, diciendo, “¿Lloraremos en el mes quinto? ¿Haremos abstinencia como hemos hecho ya algunos años?”.

^7:4Entonces vino a mí Palabra de Jehová de los ejércitos, diciendo, ^7:5“Habla a todo el pueblo del país, y a los sacerdotes, diciendo, ‘Cuando ayunasteis y llorasteis en el quinto y en el séptimo mes estos setenta años, ¿habéis ayunado para mí? ^7:6Y cuando comisteis y bebisteis, ¿no comisteis y bebisteis para ustedes mismos?

^7:7¿No oiréis las palabras que proclamó Jehová por medio de los Profetas primeros, cuando Jerusalén estaba habitada y quieta, y sus ciudades en sus alrededores, y el Neguev y la llanura estaban habitados?’”

^7:8Y vino Palabra de Jehová a Zacarías, diciendo, ^7:9“Así habló Jehová de los ejércitos, diciendo, ‘Juzgad juicio verdadero, y haced misericordia y piedad cada cual con su hermano.

^7:10No oprimáis a la viuda, ni al huérfano, ni al extranjero, ni al pobre; ni ninguno piense mal en su corazón contra su hermano.

¶Lo opuesto   La gente de Jehová se negó a escuchar la Ley y los Profetas, lo que llevó a su cautiverio en Babilonia

^7:11Pero no quisieron escuchar, antes volvieron la espalda, y taparon sus oídos para no oír.

^7:12Y pusieron su corazón como diamante, para no oír la Ley ni las palabras que Jehová de los ejércitos enviaba por su Espíritu, por medio de los Profetas primeros; vino, por tanto, grande ira de parte de Jehová de los ejércitos.

^7:13Y aconteció que como él clamó, y no escucharon, así clamaron, y yo no escuché,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

^7:14‘Antes los esparcí con torbellino por todas las naciones que ellos no conocían.

Y la tierra fue desolada tras ellos, sin quedar quien fuese ni viniese; pues convirtieron en ruinas la tierra deseable’”.

^8:1Y Palabra de Jehová de los ejércitos vino a mí, diciendo, ^8:2“Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘Yo he celado a Sión con grande celo, y con grande ira la celé’.

^8:3Así dice Jehová, ‘Yo he retornado a Sión, y moraré en medio de Jerusalén. Y Jerusalén se llamará Ciudad de la Verdad, y el monte de Jehová de los ejércitos, Monte de Santidad’.

^8:4Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘Aún han de morar ancianos y ancianas en las plazas de Jerusalén, y cada cual con bordón en su mano por la multitud de los días. ^8:5Y las calles de la ciudad se llenarán de muchachos y muchachas que jugarán en sus calles’.

^8:6Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘Si esto parecerá maravilloso a los ojos del remanente de este pueblo en aquellos días, ¿deberá también ser maravilloso delante de mis ojos?’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

^8:7Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘He aquí, yo salvo a mi pueblo de la tierra del oriente, y de la tierra del poniente; ^8:8y los traeré, y habitarán en medio de Jerusalén; y serán mi pueblo, y yo seré su Dios en verdad y en justicia’.

§El complemento   Conclusión: No temáis, pueblo de Jehová; obedeced la ley de Moisés, y Jehová estará contigo

^8:9Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘Fortaleced vuestras manos, ustedes los que oís en estos días estas palabras de la boca de los Profetas, desde el día que se echó el cimiento de la Casa de Jehová de los ejércitos, para edificar el Templo.

^8:10Porque antes de estos días no había paga para el hombre, ni paga para la bestia, ni había paz alguna para el que entraba ni para el que salía, a causa de la aflicción; y yo puse a todo hombre, cada cual contra su compañero.

^8:11Pero ahora no lo haré con el remanente de este pueblo como en los días pasados,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos. ^8:12‘Porque habrá simiente de paz; la vid dará su fruto, y la tierra dará su producto, y los cielos darán su rocío; y haré que el remanente de este pueblo posea todo esto’.

^8:13Y será que como fuisteis maldición entre las naciones, oh casa de Judá y casa de Israel, así os salvaré, y seréis bendición.

No temáis, pero esfuércense vuestras manos’. ^8:14Porque así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘Como pensé haceros mal cuando vuestros padres me provocaron a ira,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘y no me arrepentí; ^8:15así otra vez he pensado hacer bien a Jerusalén y a la casa de Judá en estos días. No temáis.

¶El complemento   Vuestro obediencia a la Ley de Moisés traerá bendición de Jehová

^8:16Éstas son las cosas que habéis de hacer: Hablad verdad cada cual con su prójimo; juzgad con verdad y juicio de paz en vuestras puertas.

^8:17Y ninguno de ustedes piense mal en su corazón contra su prójimo, ni améis juramento falso: porque todas éstas son cosas que aborrezco,’ dice Jehová”.

^8:18Y vino a mí Palabra de Jehová de los ejércitos, diciendo, ^8:19“Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘El ayuno del cuarto mes, y el ayuno del quinto, y el ayuno del séptimo, y el ayuno del décimo, se convertirán en gozo y alegría para la casa de Judá, y en fiestas de regocijo. Amad, pues, la verdad y la paz’.

^8:20Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘Aún vendrán pueblos, y moradores de muchas ciudades; ^8:21y vendrán los habitantes de una ciudad a otra, y dirán, ‘Vamos a implorar el favor de Jehová, y a buscar a Jehová de los ejércitos. yo también iré’. ^8:22Y vendrán muchos pueblos y fuertes naciones a buscar a Jehová de los ejércitos en Jerusalén, y a implorar el favor de Jehová’.

^8:23Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘En aquellos días acontecerá que diez hombres de todas las lenguas de las naciones, trabarán del manto de un judío, diciendo, ‘Iremos con ustedes: porque hemos oído que Dios está con ustedes’’”.
