^1:4And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire enfolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of its midst as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire. ^1:5Also out of its midst came the likeness of four living creatures.

And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man. ^1:6And each one had four faces, and each one had four wings. ^1:7And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot; and they sparkled like the color of polished bronze. ^1:8And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. ^1:9Their wings were joined one to another; they did not turn when they went; they went each one straight forward. ^1:10As for the likeness of their faces, each of the four had the face of a man in front, and the face of a lion, on the right side; and each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side; the four also had the face of an eagle in back: ^1:11thus were their faces. And their wings were stretched upward; two wings of each one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. ^1:12And they went each one straight forward: where the spirit was to go, they went; and they did not turn when they went.

^1:13As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps; it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. ^1:14And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

^1:15Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces. ^1:16The appearance of the wheels and their work was like the color of a beryl; and each of the four wheels had the same likeness; and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel. ^1:17When they went, they went upon their four sides; and they did not turn when they went. ^1:18As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about each of the four.

^1:19And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up. ^1:20Wheresoever the spirit was to go, they went; there was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up next to them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. ^1:21When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up next to them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

^1:22And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the color of the dreadful crystal, stretched forth over their heads above. ^1:23And under the firmament their wings were straight, one toward the other. Each one had two wings, which covered on this side; and each one had two wings, which covered on that side, their bodies. ^1:24And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of a host; when they stood, they let down their wings.

^1:25And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings. ^1:26And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone; and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

^1:27And I saw as the color of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his waist even upward, and from the appearance of his waist even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. ^1:28As the appearance of a rainbow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah.

I do send you to them; and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah.’ ^2:5And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear (for they are a rebellious house), yet they shall know that a Prophet has been among them. ^2:6And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them; neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you, and you dwell among scorpions. Be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house. ^2:7And you shall speak my words to them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.

^2:8“But you, son of man, hear what I say to you: be not rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth, and eat what I give you.” ^2:9And when I looked, behold, a hand was sent to me; and, behold, a scroll of a book was in it. ^2:10And he spread it before me; and it was written inside and outside; and there was written in it lamentations, mourning, and woe. ^3:1And he said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find: eat this scroll, and go speak to the house of Israel.” ^3:2So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that scroll. ^3:3And he said to me, “Son of man, cause your belly to eat, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” Then I ate it, and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

^3:4And he said to me, “Son of man, go, enter in to the house of Israel, and speak with my words to them: ^3:5for you are not sent to a people of a strange speech and of a hard language, but to the house of Israel; ^3:6not to many people of a strange speech and of a hard language, whose words you cannot under stand. Surely, had I sent you to them, they would have listened to you. ^3:7But the house of Israel will not listen to you, because they will not listen to me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. ^3:8Behold, I have made your face strong against their faces, and your forehead strong against their foreheads. ^3:9As an adamant stone harder than flint have I made your forehead. Fear them not; neither be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.”

^3:10Moreover he said to me, “Son of man, all my words that I shall speak to you receive in your heart, and hear with your ears. ^3:11And go, enter in to them of the captivity, to the children of your people, and speak to them, and tell them, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah’, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.”

^3:12Then the Spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, “Blessed is the glory of Jehovah from his place!” ^3:13Also I heard the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels next to them, and a noise of a great rushing. ^3:14So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away. And I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of Jehovah was strong upon me. ^3:15Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

¶Complement   Jehovah made Ezekiel a watchman to the house of Israel to warn the righteous and the wicked (3:16 - 27)

^3:16And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^3:17“Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel; therefore hear the Word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. ^3:18When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die’; and you do not give him warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at your hand. ^3:19Yet if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way: he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.

^3:20“gain, when a righteous man turns from his righteous works, and commits iniquity; and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die. Because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin; and his righteous works that he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at your hand.

^3:21“Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man, that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin: he shall surely live, because he was warned; also you have delivered your soul.”

^3:22And the hand of Jehovah was there upon me; and he said to me, “Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will talk with you there.” ^3:23Then I arose, and went forth into the plain; and, behold, the glory of Jehovah stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar; and I fell on my face.

^3:24Then the Spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spoke with me, and said to me, “Go, shut yourself within your house. ^3:25But you, O son of man, behold, they shall put ropes upon you, and shall bind you with them, and you shall not go out among them. ^3:26And I will make your tongue cling to the roof of your mouth, so that you shall be mute, and shall not be a rebuker to them: for they are a rebellious house. ^3:27But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah.’ He that hears, let him hear; and he that forbears, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.”

^4:1“You also, son of man, take a tile, and lay it before you, and portray upon it the city, that is, Jerusalem; ^4:2and lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and cast a siege mound against it; set the camp also against it, and set battering rams against it round about. ^4:3Moreover take an iron pan to you, and set it for a wall of iron between you and the city; and set your face against it, and it shall be besieged; and you shall lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.

^4:4“Lie also upon your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it; according to the number of the days that you shall lie upon it you shall bear their iniquity: ^4:5for I have laid upon you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; so shall you bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

^4:6“And when you have accomplished them, lie again on your right side, and you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days; I have appointed you each day for a year. ^4:7Therefore you shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, and your arm shall be uncovered, and you shall prophesy against it.”

^4:8“And, behold, I will lay bands upon you, and you shall not turn yourself from one side to another, until you have ended the days of your siege. ^4:9Take also to you wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make yourself bread of it; according to the number of the days that you shall lie upon your side, three hundred and ninety days, shall you eat of it. ^4:10And your food which you shall eat shall be twenty shekels a day by weight; from time to time shall you eat it. ^4:11You also shall drink water by measure, the sixth part of a hin; from time to time shall you drink. ^4:12And you shall eat it as barley cakes; and you shall bake it with dung that comes out of man, in their sight.” ^4:13And Jehovah said, “Even in this manner shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, where I will drive them.”

^4:14Then I said, “Ah Lord Jehovah! Behold, my soul has not been polluted: for from my youth up even until now I have not eaten of that which dies of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither did abominable flesh come into my mouth.” ^4:15Then he said to me, “See, I have given you cow's dung instead of man's dung, and you shall prepare your bread with it.”

^4:16Moreover he said to me, “Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem; and they shall eat bread by ration, and with anxiety; and they shall drink water by ration, and with astonishment, ^4:17that they may want bread and water, and be astonished one with another, and consume away for their iniquity. ^5:1And you, son of man, take a sharp knife. Take a barber's razor, and cause it to pass upon your head and upon your beard. Then take balances to weigh, and divide the hair. ^5:2You shall burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and you shall take a third part, and chop about it with a knife; and a third part you shall scatter in the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them. ^5:3You shall also take of it a few in number, and bind them in your garment. ^5:4Then take some of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire: for of it shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.

^5:5“Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘This is Jerusalem; I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her. ^5:6And she has changed my Judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my Statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my Judgments and my Statutes; they have not walked in them.’

^5:7“Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Because you multiplied more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my Statutes; neither have kept my Judgments; neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are round about you’, ^5:8therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, I, even I, am against you, and will execute judgments in your midst in the sight of the nations. ^5:9And I will do in you that which I have not done, and to which I will not anymore do the like, because of all your abominations. ^5:10Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in your midst, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in you, and the whole remnant of you will I scatter into all the winds.’”

^5:11“‘Therefore as I live,’ says the Lord Jehovah, ‘Surely, because you have defiled my Sanctuary with all your detestable things, and with all your abominations, therefore I will also diminish you; neither shall my eye spare; neither will I have any pity. ^5:12A third part of you shall die with disease, and with famine shall they be consumed in your midst; and a third part shall fall by the sword round about you; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them. ^5:13In this manner my anger shall be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest upon them, and I will be comforted; and they shall know that I Jehovah have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.

^5:14“‘Moreover I will make you waste, and a reproach among the nations that are round about you, in the sight of all that pass by. ^5:15So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment to the nations that are round about you, when I shall execute judgments in you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes; I Jehovah have spoken it. ^5:16When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you; and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread; ^5:17so will I send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave you; and disease and blood shall pass through you; and I will bring the sword upon you. I Jehovah have spoken it.’”

^6:1And the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^6:2“Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel; and prophesy against them, ^6:3and say, ‘You mountains of Israel, hear the Word of the Lord Jehovah; thus says the Lord Jehovah to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys: ‘Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places. ^6:4And your altars shall be desolate, and your images shall be broken; and I will cast down your slain men before your idols. ^6:5And I will lay the dead corpses of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars. ^6:6In all your dwelling places the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate, that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your images may be cut down, and your works may be abolished. ^6:7And the slain shall fall in your midst, and you shall know that I am Jehovah.

^6:8“‘Yet will I leave a remnant, that you may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when you shall be scattered through the countries. ^6:9And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations where they shall be carried captives (because I am broken with their whorish heart, which has departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols;) and they shall loathe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. ^6:10And they shall know that I am Jehovah, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil to them.’”

^6:11“Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Pound with your hand, and stomp with your foot, and say, ‘Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! For they shall fall by the sword, by famine, and by disease. ^6:12He that is far off shall die of disease; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that remains and is besieged shall die by famine; thus will I accomplish my fury upon them.

^6:13“‘‘Then shall you know that I am Jehovah, when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they offered sweet aroma to all their idols.

^6:14“‘‘So will I stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land desolate, yea, more desolate than the wilderness toward Diblath, in all their habitations; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.’’”

I will repay you according to your ways and your abominations that are in your midst; and you shall know that I am Jehovah that smites.’”

^7:10“‘Behold the day; behold, it has come; the morning has gone forth; the rod has blossomed; pride has budded. ^7:11Violence has risen up into a rod of wickedness; none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of theirs; neither shall there be wailing for them. ^7:12The time has come; the day draws near; let the buyer not rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all its multitude: ^7:13for the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were still alive: for the vision concerns the whole multitude of it, which shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life. ^7:14They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but no one goes to the battle: for my wrath is upon all its multitude.

^7:15“‘The sword is outside, and disease and famine within. He that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and disease shall devour him. ^7:16But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, each one for his iniquity. ^7:17All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water. ^7:18They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads. ^7:19They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed; their silver and their gold shall not be able to save them in the Day of the wrath of Jehovah. They shall not satisfy their souls; neither fill their bowels, because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

^7:20“‘As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty; but they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things in it; therefore have I set it far from them. ^7:21And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a plunder; and they shall pollute it. ^7:22My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my secret place: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it.’”

Y ésta era su apariencia: tenían ellos semejanza de hombre. ^1:6Y cada uno tenía cuatro caras, y cuatro alas. ^1:7Y los pies de ellos eran derechos, y la planta de sus pies como la planta de pie de becerro; y centelleaban a manera de bronce muy bruñido. ^1:8Y debajo de sus alas, a sus cuatro lados, tenían manos de hombre; y sus caras y sus alas por los cuatro lados. ^1:9Con las alas se juntaban el uno al otro. No se volvían cuando andaban; cada uno caminaba derecho hacia adelante. ^1:10Y el aspecto de sus caras era cara de hombre; y cara de león al lado derecho en los cuatro; y a la izquierda cara de buey en los cuatro; y los cuatro tenían cara de águila. ^1:11Tales eran sus rostros; y tenían sus alas extendidas por encima, cada uno dos, las cuales se juntaban; y las otras dos cubrían sus cuerpos. ^1:12Y cada uno caminaba derecho hacia adelante: hacia donde el espíritu les movía que anduviesen, andaban; y cuando andaban, no se volvían.

^1:13En cuanto a la semejanza de los seres vivientes, su parecer era como de carbones de fuego encendidos, como parecer de hachones encendidos que andaban entre los seres vivientes; y el fuego resplandecía, y del fuego salían relámpagos. ^1:14Y los seres vivientes corrían y volvían a semejanza de relámpagos.

¶Lo opuesto   El firmamento encima las criaturas vivientes contenía el trono de Jehová (1:15 - 28a)

^1:15Y mientras yo miraba a los seres vivientes, he aquí una rueda en la tierra junto a los seres vivientes de cuatro caras. ^1:16Y el parecer de las ruedas y su obra era semejante al color del berilo. Y las cuatro tenían una misma semejanza; su apariencia y su obra eran como una rueda en medio de otra rueda. ^1:17Cuando andaban, se movían sobre sus cuatro costados; no se volvían cuando andaban. ^1:18Y sus aros eran altos y espantosos, y llenos de ojos alrededor en las cuatro.

^1:19Y cuando los seres vivientes andaban, las ruedas andaban junto a ellos; y cuando los seres vivientes se levantaban de la tierra, las ruedas se levantaban. ^1:20Hacia donde el espíritu les movía que anduviesen, andaban; hacia donde les movía el espíritu que anduviesen, las ruedas también se levantaban tras ellos: porque el espíritu de los seres vivientes estaba en las ruedas. ^1:21Cuando ellos andaban, andaban ellas; y cuando ellos se paraban, se paraban ellas; asimismo cuando se levantaban de la tierra, las ruedas se levantaban tras ellos: porque el espíritu de los seres vivientes estaba en las ruedas.

^1:22Y sobre las cabezas de cada ser viviente aparecía una expansión a manera de cristal maravilloso, extendido encima sobre sus cabezas. ^1:23Y debajo de la expansión estaban las alas de ellos derechas la una a la otra; cada uno tenía dos, y otras dos que cubrían sus cuerpos. ^1:24Y oí el ruido de sus alas cuando andaban, como el estruendo de muchas aguas, como la voz del Omnipotente, como ruido de muchedumbre, como la voz de un ejército. Cuando se paraban, aflojaban sus alas.

^1:25Y cuando se paraban y bajaban sus alas, se oía una voz de arriba de la expansión que había sobre sus cabezas. ^1:26Y sobre la expansión que había sobre sus cabezas, se veía la figura de un trono que parecía de piedra de zafiro; y sobre la figura del trono había una semejanza que parecía de hombre, sentado sobre él.

^1:27Y vi apariencia como de ámbar, como apariencia de fuego dentro de ella en derredor, desde el aspecto de sus lomos para arriba; y desde sus lomos para abajo, vi que parecía como fuego, y que tenía resplandor alrededor. ^1:28Como la apariencia del arco iris que está en las nubes el día que llueve, así era el parecer del resplandor alrededor. Ésta fue la visión de la semejanza de la gloria de Jehová.

§El complemento   Cuerpo: Jehová hizo de Ezequiel el Profeta ambos un centinela y un letrero para la casa de Israel (1:28b - 6:14)

¶Único   Jehová envió a Ezequiel a la casa de Israel para predicar su Palabra a ellos (1:28b - 3:15)

Y cuándo que yo la vi, caí sobre mi rostro; y oí la voz de uno que hablaba. ^2:1Y me dijo, “Hijo de hombre, ponte sobre tus pies, y hablaré contigo”. ^2:2Y luego que me habló, entró el Espíritu en mí, y me afirmó sobre mis pies, y oía al que me hablaba. ^2:3Y me dijo, “Hijo de hombre, yo te envío a los hijos de Israel, a gente rebelde que se ha rebelado contra mí; ellos y sus padres se han rebelado contra mí hasta este mismo día. ^2:4Yo, pues, te envío a hijos de duro rostro y de empedernido corazón; y les dirás, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor’. ^2:5Y ya sea que ellos escuchen; o dejen de escuchar (porque son una casa rebelde), siempre sabrán que hubo profeta entre ellos. ^2:6Y tú, hijo de hombre, no temas de ellos, ni tengas miedo de sus palabras, aunque te hallas entre zarzas y espinas, y moras con escorpiones; no tengas miedo de sus palabras, ni temas delante de ellos: porque son casa rebelde. ^2:7Les hablarás, pues, mis palabras, escuchen o dejen de escuchar: porque son muy rebeldes.

^2:8“Pero tú, hijo de hombre, oye lo que yo te hablo; no seas rebelde como esa casa rebelde; abre tu boca, y come lo que yo te doy”. ^2:9Y miré, y he aquí una mano extendida hacia mí, y en ella había un rollo de libro. ^2:10Y lo extendió delante de mí, y estaba escrito por delante y por detrás; y había escritas en él endechas, lamentaciones y ayes. ^3:1Y me dijo, “Hijo de hombre, come lo que hallas; come este rollo, y ve y habla a la casa de Israel”. ^3:2Y abrí mi boca, y me hizo comer aquel rollo. ^3:3Y me dijo, “Hijo de hombre, haz a tu vientre que coma, y llena tus entrañas de este rollo que yo te doy”. Y lo comí, y fue en mi boca dulce como miel.

^3:4Entonces me dijo, “Hijo de hombre, ve y entra a la casa de Israel, y habla a ellos con mis palabras: ^3:5porque no eres enviado a pueblo de habla profunda ni de lengua difícil, sino a la casa de Israel. ^3:6No a muchos pueblos de habla profunda ni de lengua difícil, cuyas palabras no entiendas; y si a ellos te enviara, ellos te oirían. ^3:7Pero la casa de Israel no te querrá oír: porque no me quieren oír a mí: porque toda la casa de Israel son duros de frente, y de corazón empedernido. ^3:8He aquí, yo he hecho tu rostro fuerte contra los rostros de ellos, y tu frente fuerte contra sus frentes. ^3:9Como diamante, más fuerte que el pedernal he hecho tu frente; no los temas, ni tengas miedo delante de ellos: porque son casa rebelde”.

^3:10Y me dijo, “Hijo de hombre, todas mis palabras que os hablaré, recíbelas en tu corazón, y escucha con tus oídos. ^3:11Y ve a los del cautiverio, a los hijos de tu pueblo, y les hablarás y les dirás, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor’; si oirán, o si se abstendrán”.

^3:12Entonces el Espíritu me levantó, y oí detrás de mí una voz de grande estruendo, que decía, “¡Bendita sea la gloria de Jehová desde su lugar!”. ^3:13Oí también el ruido de las alas de los seres vivientes que se juntaban la una con la otra, y el ruido de las ruedas delante de ellos, y ruido de grande estruendo. ^3:14Me levantó, pues, el Espíritu, y me tomó; y fui en amargura, en la indignación de mi espíritu; pero la mano de Jehová era fuerte sobre mí. ^3:15Y vine a los cautivos en Telabib, que moraban junto al río de Quebar, y me senté donde estaban sentados, y allí permanecí siete días atónito entre ellos.

^3:16Y aconteció que al cabo de los siete días vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^3:17“Hijo de hombre, yo te he puesto por atalaya a la casa de Israel; oirás, pues, tú, la Palabra de mi boca, y los amonestarás de mi parte. ^3:18Cuando yo dijere al impío, ‘De cierto morirás’; y tú no le amonestares, ni le hablares, para que el impío sea apercibido de su mal camino, a fin de que viva, el impío morirá por su pecado, pero su sangre demandaré de tu mano. ^3:19Y si tú amonestares al impío, y él no se convirtiere de su impiedad, y de su mal camino, él morirá por su pecado, pero tú habrás librado tu alma.

^3:20“Y cuando el justo se apartare de su justicia, e hiciere maldad, y pusiere yo tropiezo delante de él, él morirá: porque tú no le amonestaste; en su pecado morirá, y sus justicias que había hecho no vendrán en memoria; pero su sangre demandaré de tu mano.

^3:21“Sin embargo, si adviertes al justo hombre, que el justo no debe pecar, y el no peca: él ciertamente vivirá, porque fue advertido; también has entregado tu alma”.

^3:22Y vino allí la mano de Jehová sobre mí, y me dijo, “Levántate, y sal al campo, y allí hablaré contigo”. ^3:23Y me levanté, y salí al campo; y he aquí que allí estaba la gloria de Jehová, como la gloria que había visto junto al río de Quebar; y caí sobre mi rostro.

^3:24Entonces entró el Espíritu en mí, y me afirmó sobre mis pies, y me habló, y me dijo, “Entra, y enciérrate dentro de tu casa. ^3:25Y tú, oh hijo de hombre, he aquí que pondrán sobre ti cuerdas, y con ellas te atarán, y no saldrás entre ellos. ^3:26Y haré que tu lengua se pegue a tu paladar, y estarás mudo, y no serás a ellos varón que reprende: porque son casa rebelde. ^3:27Pero cuando yo te hubiere hablado, abriré tu boca, y les dirás, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor’. El que oye, oiga; y el que no quiera oír, no oiga: porque son casa rebelde”.

¶El complemento   Jehová hizo a Ezequiel una señal de su ira contra Jerusalén a la casa de Israel (4:1 - 15)

^4:1“Y tú, hijo de hombre, tómate un adobe, y ponlo delante de ti, y diseña sobre él la ciudad de Jerusalén; ^4:2y pon contra ella sitio, y edifica contra ella fortaleza, y levanta contra ella baluarte, y pon delante de ella campamento, y coloca contra ella arietes alrededor. ^4:3Tómate también una plancha de hierro, y ponla en lugar de muro de hierro entre ti y la ciudad; afirma luego tu rostro contra ella, y será sitiada, y tú pondrás sitio contra ella. Ésta será señal a la casa de Israel.

^4:4“Y tú te acostarás sobre tu lado izquierdo, y pondrás sobre él la iniquidad de la casa de Israel; el número de los días que dormirás sobre él, llevarás sobre ti la iniquidad de ellos. ^4:5Yo te he dado los años de su iniquidad por el número de los días, trescientos noventa días; así llevarás la iniquidad de la casa de Israel.

^4:6“Y cumplidos éstos, te acostarás otra vez, sobre tu lado derecho, y llevarás la iniquidad de la casa de Judá cuarenta días; día por año, día por año te lo he dado. ^4:7Y afirmarás tu rostro al sitio de Jerusalén, y descubierto tu brazo, profetizarás contra ella”.

^4:8“Y he aquí, yo pondré sobre ti ataduras, y no te darás vuelta de un lado al otro, hasta que hayas cumplido los días de tu asedio. ^4:9Y tú toma para ti trigo, cebada, habas, lentejas, maíz y centeno, y ponlos en una vasija, y hazte pan de ellos el número de los días que durmieres sobre tu lado; trescientos noventa días comerás de él. ^4:10Y la comida que has de comer será por peso de veinte siclos al día; de tiempo a tiempo lo comerás. ^4:11Y beberás el agua por medida, la sexta parte de un hin; de tiempo a tiempo beberás. ^4:12Y comerás pan de cebada cocido debajo de la ceniza; y lo cocerás sobre excremento de hombre, a vista de ellos”. ^4:13Y dijo Jehová, “Así comerán los hijos de Israel su pan inmundo, entre las naciones a donde los lanzaré yo”.

^4:14Y dije, “¡Ah Señor Jehová! he aquí que mi alma no es inmunda, ni nunca desde mi juventud hasta este tiempo comí cosa mortecina ni despedazada, ni nunca en mi boca entró carne inmunda”. ^4:15Y me respondió, “He aquí te doy estiércol de bueyes en lugar del estiércol de hombre, y cocerás tu pan con ellos”.

¶Lo opuesto   Jehová estaba decidido a ejecutar juicios contra Jerusalén (4:16 - 5:17)

^4:16Entonces me dijo, “Hijo de hombre, he aquí quebrantaré la provisión de pan en Jerusalén, y comerán el pan por peso, y con angustia; y beberán el agua por medida, y con espanto. ^4:17Porque les faltará el pan y el agua, y se espantarán los unos con los otros, y se consumirán por su maldad. ^5:1Y tú, hijo de hombre, tómate un cuchillo agudo, toma una navaja de barbero, y hazla pasar sobre tu cabeza y tu barba; tómate después un peso de balanza, y divide los cabellos. ^5:2Una tercera parte quemarás con fuego en medio de la ciudad, cuando se cumplieren los días del sitio, y tomarás una tercera parte, y herirás con espada alrededor de ella; y una tercera parte esparcirás al viento, y yo desenvainaré espada en pos de ellos. ^5:3Tomarás también de allí unos pocos en número, y los atarás en el borde de tu manto. ^5:4Y tomarás otra vez de ellos, y los echarás en medio del fuego, y en el fuego los quemarás; de allí saldrá el fuego hacia toda la casa de Israel.

^5:5“Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Ésta es Jerusalén; la puse en medio de las naciones y de las tierras alrededor de ella. ^5:6Y ella cambió mis Juicios y mis ordenanzas en impiedad más que las naciones, y más que las tierras que están alrededor de ella: porque desecharon mis Juicios y mis Mandamientos, y no anduvieron en ellos’.

^5:7“‘Por tanto, así dice el Señor Jehová, ‘¿Por haberos multiplicado más que las naciones que están alrededor de ustedes, no habéis andado en mis Mandamientos, ni habéis guardado mis Leyes? Ni siquiera según las leyes de las naciones que están alrededor de ustedes habéis hecho’. ^5:8Así pues, dice Jehová el Señor, ‘He aquí yo contra ti; sí, yo, y haré juicios en medio de ti a los ojos de las naciones. ^5:9Y haré en ti lo que nunca hice, ni jamás haré cosa semejante, a causa de todas tus abominaciones. ^5:10Por eso los padres comerán a los hijos en medio de ti, y los hijos comerán a sus padres; y haré en ti juicios, y a todo tu remanente esparciré a todos los vientos.

^5:11“‘Por tanto, como vivo yo,’ dice el Señor Jehová, ‘ciertamente por haber profanado mi Santuario con todos tus ídolos detestables y con todas tus abominaciones, te quebrantaré yo también; mi ojo no perdonará, ni tampoco tendré yo misericordia. ^5:12Una tercera parte de ti morirá de pestilencia y será consumida de hambre en medio de ti; y una tercera parte caerá a espada alrededor de ti; y una tercera parte esparciré a todos los vientos, y tras ellos desenvainaré espada. ^5:13Y se cumplirá mi furor, y haré que mi enojo repose en ellos, y tomaré satisfacción; y sabrán que yo Jehová he hablado en mi celo, cuando haya cumplido en ellos mi enojo.

^5:14“‘Y te tornaré en desierto y en oprobio entre las naciones que están alrededor de ti, a los ojos de todo transeúnte. ^5:15Y serás oprobio y escarnio y escarmiento y espanto a las naciones que están alrededor de ti, cuando yo haga en ti juicios en furor e indignación, y en reprensiones de ira. yo Jehová he hablado. ^5:16Cuando arroje yo sobre ellos las perniciosas saetas del hambre, que serán para destrucción, las cuales enviaré para destruiros, entonces aumentaré el hambre sobre ustedes, y quebrantaré entre ustedes la provisión de pan. ^5:17Enviaré, pues, sobre ustedes hambre, y malas bestias que te destruyan; y pestilencia y sangre pasarán por ti, y meteré sobre ti espada. yo Jehová he hablado’”.

¶Lo opuesto   Jehová estaba a la vez triste y enojado con la casa de Israel debido a sus abominaciones malvadas (6:1 - 14)

^6:1Y vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^6:2“Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro hacia los montes de Israel, y profetiza contra ellos. ^6:3Y dirás, ‘Montes de Israel, oíd Palabra de Jehová el Señor; así dice Jehová el Señor a los montes y a los collados, a los arroyos y a los valles, ‘He aquí que yo, yo haré venir sobre ustedes espada, y destruiré vuestros lugares altos. ^6:4Y vuestros altares serán asolados, y vuestras imágenes del sol serán quebradas; y haré que caigan vuestros muertos delante de vuestros ídolos. ^6:5Y pondré los cuerpos muertos de los hijos de Israel delante de sus ídolos; y vuestros huesos esparciré en derredor de vuestros altares. ^6:6En todo lugar donde habitéis las ciudades serán desiertas, y los lugares altos serán asolados, para que sean asolados y se hagan desiertos vuestros altares; y quebrados serán vuestros ídolos, y cesarán; y vuestras imágenes del sol serán destruidas, y vuestras obras serán desechas. ^6:7Y los muertos caerán en medio de ustedes; y sabréis que yo soy Jehová.

^6:8“‘Pero dejaré un remanente de modo que tengáis quien escape de la espada entre las naciones, cuando seáis esparcidos por las tierras. ^6:9Y los que de ustedes escaparen, se acordarán de mí entre las naciones entre las cuales serán cautivos: porque yo me quebranté a causa de su corazón fornicario, que se apartó de mí, y a causa de sus ojos, que fornicaron tras sus ídolos; y se avergonzarán de sí mismos, a causa de los males que hicieron en todas sus abominaciones. ^6:10Y sabrán que soy Jehová; no en vano dije que les había de hacer este mal’.

^6:11“Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Hiere con tu mano, y huella con tu pie, y di, ‘¡Ay de los males de la casa de Israel por todas las abominaciones! Porque con espada, y con hambre, y con pestilencia caerán. ^6:12El que estuviere lejos, morirá de pestilencia, y el que estuviere cerca caerá a espada, y el que quedare y fuere sitiado morirá de hambre; así cumpliré en ellos mi enojo.

^6:13“‘‘Entonces sabréis que yo soy Jehová, cuando sus muertos estén en medio de sus ídolos, en derredor de sus altares, en todo collado alto, y en todas las cumbres de los montes, y debajo de todo árbol frondoso, y debajo de toda encina espesa, lugares donde ofrecieron olor suave a todos sus ídolos.

^6:14“‘‘Y extenderé mi mano contra ellos, y tornaré la tierra más asolada y desierta que el desierto hacia Diblat, en todas sus habitaciones; y conocerán que yo soy Jehová’’”.

§El complemento   Conclusión: El Día de la ira de Jehová dará a las personas y gobernantes de Israel exactamente lo que merecen (7:1 - 27)

¶El complemento   El Día de la ira de Jehová ha llegado por la tierra de Israel (7:1 - 22)

^7:1Y vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^7:2“Y tú, hijo de hombre di, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor a la tierra de Israel, ‘El fin, el fin viene sobre los cuatro extremos de la tierra. ^7:3Ahora será el fin sobre ti, y enviaré sobre ti mi furor, y te juzgaré según tus caminos; y pondré sobre ti todas tus abominaciones. ^7:4Y mi ojo no te perdonará, ni tendré misericordia; antes pondré sobre ti tus caminos, y en medio de ti estarán tus abominaciones; y sabréis que soy Jehová’.

^7:5“Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Un mal, he aquí que viene un mal. ^7:6Viene el fin, el fin viene; se ha despertado contra ti; he aquí que viene. ^7:7La mañana viene para ti, oh morador de la tierra; el tiempo viene, cercano está el día; día de tribulación, y no de alegría, sobre los montes. ^7:8Ahora pronto derramaré mi ira sobre ti, y cumpliré en ti mi furor, y te juzgaré según tus caminos; y pondré sobre ti tus abominaciones. ^7:9Y mi ojo no perdonará, ni tendré misericordia; te pagaré conforme a tus caminos y a tus abominaciones que están en medio de ti; y sabréis que yo Jehová soy el que hiere’”.

^7:10“‘He aquí el día, he aquí que viene; ha salido la mañana; ha florecido la vara, ha reverdecido la soberbia. ^7:11La violencia se ha levantado en vara de impiedad; ninguno quedará de ellos, ni de su multitud, ni uno de los suyos; ni habrá quien por ellos se lamente. ^7:12El tiempo ha venido, se acercó el día; el que compra, no se alegre, y el que vende, no llore: porque la ira está sobre toda la multitud: ^7:13porque el que vende no volverá a lo vendido, aunque queden vivos: porque la visión sobre toda su multitud no será revocada; y ninguno podrá, a causa de su iniquidad, amparar su vida. ^7:14Tocarán trompeta, y prepararán todas las cosas, pero no habrá quien vaya a la batalla: porque mi ira está sobre toda la multitud.

^7:15“‘De fuera espada, de dentro pestilencia y hambre; el que estuviere en el campo morirá a espada; y al que estuviere en la ciudad, el hambre y la pestilencia lo consumirán. ^7:16Y los que escaparen de ellos, huirán y estarán sobre los montes como palomas de los valles, gimiendo todos por su iniquidad. ^7:17Toda mano será debilitada, y toda rodilla será débil como agua. ^7:18Se ceñirán también de cilicio, y les cubrirá terror; en todo rostro habrá vergüenza, y todas sus cabezas estarán rapadas. ^7:19Arrojarán su plata en las calles, y su oro será desechado; ni su plata ni su oro podrá librarlos en el día de la ira de Jehová; no saciarán su alma, ni llenarán sus entrañas: porque ha sido tropiezo para su maldad.

^7:20“‘En cuanto a la belleza de su ornamento, él la puso en majestad; pero hicieron de ella las imágenes de sus detestables ídolos; por eso se lo torné en cosa repugnante. ^7:21Y en mano de extraños la entregué por presa, y por despojo a los impíos de la tierra, y la profanarán. ^7:22Y apartaré de ellos mi rostro, y mi lugar secreto será profanado; pues entrarán en él ladrones y lo profanarán’”.

¶El complemento   El pueblo y los gobernantes de Judá recibirán el castigo que merecen desde Jehová su Dios (7:23 - 27)

^7:23“‘Haz una cadena! Porque la tierra está llena de crímenes sangrientos, y la ciudad está llena de violencia.

^7:24“‘Traeré, por tanto, a los más malos de las naciones, los cuales poseerán sus casas; y haré cesar la soberbia de los poderosos, y sus santuarios serán profanados. ^7:25Destrucción viene; y buscarán la paz, y no la habrá. ^7:26Quebrantamiento vendrá sobre quebrantamiento, y rumor será sobre rumor’”.

“‘Entonces buscarán una visión del Profeta, pero la Ley se alejará del sacerdote, y el consejo de los ancianos.

^7:27“‘El rey se enlutará, y el príncipe se vestirá de asolamiento, y las manos del pueblo de la tierra serán conturbadas.

“‘Según su camino haré con ellos, y con los juicios de ellos los juzgaré; y sabrán que soy Jehová’”.
