^8:3And he put forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looks toward the north, where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy.

^8:4And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.

^8:5Then he said to me, “Son of man, lift up your eyes now the way toward the north.” So I lifted up my eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.

^8:6He said furthermore to me, “Son of man, do you see what they do? Even the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here, that I should go far away from my Sanctuary?”

“But turn yet again, and you shall see greater abominations.” ^8:7And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. ^8:8Then he said to me, “Son of man, dig now in the wall”; and when I had dug in the wall, behold a door. ^8:9And he said to me, “Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.” ^8:10So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall round about. ^8:11And seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel stood before them, and in their midst stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up. ^8:12Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, ‘Jehovah does not see us; Jehovah has forsaken the earth.’”

^8:13He said also to me, “Turn yet again, and you shall see even greater abominations that they do.” ^8:14Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Jehovah's House which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

^8:15Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, O son of man? Turn yet again, and you shall see greater abominations than these.” ^8:16And he brought me into the inner court of Jehovah's House; and, behold, at the door of the Temple of Jehovah, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men, with their backs toward the Temple of Jehovah, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

^9:1He cried also in my ears with a loud voice, saying, “Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand!” ^9:2And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lies toward the north, and every man with a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side; and they went in, and stood beside the bronze altar. ^9:3And the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub, which he was on, to the threshold of the House. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer's inkhorn by his side; ^9:4and Jehovah said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that are done in its midst.”

^9:5And to the others he said in my hearing, “Go after him through the city, and smite. Let not your eye spare; neither have pity. ^9:6Slay utterly old and young, including virgins, little children, and women; but do not come near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my Sanctuary.” Then they began at the ancient men which were before the House. ^9:7And he said to them, “Defile the House, and fill the courts with the slain; go forth.” And they went forth, and slew in the city.

^9:8And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, “Ah Lord Jehovah! Will you destroy all the remainder of Israel in your pouring out of your fury upon Jerusalem?” ^9:9Then he said to me, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great; and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, ‘Jehovah has forsaken the earth, and Jehovah does not see.’ ^9:10And as for me also, my eye shall not spare; neither will I have pity, but I will repay their way upon their head.”

^9:11And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, “I have done as you have commanded me.”

^10:1Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubim there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. ^10:2And he spoke to the man clothed with linen, and said, “Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill your hand with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.” And he went in between the wheels in my sight.

^10:3Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the House, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court. ^10:4Then the glory of Jehovah went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the House; and the House was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of Jehovah's glory. ^10:5And the sound of the cherubim' wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaks. ^10:6And it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, “Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubim", then he went in, and stood beside the wheels. ^10:7And one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took of it, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen, who took it, and went out. ^10:8And there appeared in the cherubim the form of a man's hand under their wings.

^10:9And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was as the color of a beryl stone. ^10:10And as for their appearances, they four had the same likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel. ^10:11When they went, they went upon their four sides; they did not turn as they went, but to the place where the head looked they followed it; they did not turn as they went. ^10:12And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.

^10:13As for the wheels, it was cried to them in my hearing, “O wheel!” ^10:14And each one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub; and the second face was the face of a man; and the third the face of a lion; and the fourth the face of an eagle. ^10:15And the cherubim were lifted up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar. ^10:16And when the cherubim went, the wheels went by them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also did not turn from beside them. ^10:17When they stood, these stood; and when they were lifted up, these also lifted themselves up: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.

^10:18Then the glory of Jehovah left the threshold of the House, and stood over the cherubim. ^10:19And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight. When they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and each one stood at the door of the east gate of Jehovah's House; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. ^10:20This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar, and I knew that they were the cherubim. ^10:21Each one had four faces each, and each one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings. ^10:22And the likeness of their faces was the same faces which I saw by the river of Chebar, their appearances and themselves; they went each one straight forward.

^11:1Moreover the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me to the east gate of Jehovah's House, which looks eastward; and behold at the door of the gate twenty-five men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, the princes of the people.

^11:2Then he said to me, “Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city, ^11:3who say, ‘Judgment is not near; let us build houses. This city is the caldron, and we are the flesh.’

^11:4“Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, O son of man.”

^11:5And the Spirit of Jehovah fell upon me, and said to me, “Speak, ‘Thus says Jehovah: Thus have you said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them. ^11:6You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled its streets with the slain.’

^11:7“Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Your slain whom you have laid in its midst, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron; but I will bring you forth out of its midst. ^11:8You have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you,’ says the Lord Jehovah. ^11:9‘And I will bring you out of its midst, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you. ^11:10You shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and you shall know that I am Jehovah. ^11:11This city shall not be your caldron; neither shall you be the flesh in its midst; but I will judge you in the border of Israel; ^11:12and you shall know that I am Jehovah, because you have not walked in my Statutes; neither executed my Judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you.’”

¶Complement   Jehovah promised Ezekiel that He would protect and bless the Jews in captivity in other countries (11:13 - 21)

^11:13And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died.

Then I fell down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, “Ah Lord Jehovah! Will you make a full end of the remainder of Israel?” ^11:14Again the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^11:15“Son of man, your brethren, even your brethren, the men of your kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, are they to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Go far from Jehovah; to us is this land given in possession.’

^11:16“Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little Sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.’’”

^11:17“Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. ^11:18And they shall come there, and they shall take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there. ^11:19And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh, ^11:20that they may walk in my Statutes, and keep my Ordinances, and do them; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

^11:21“‘‘But as for them whose heart walks after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will repay their way upon their own heads,’ says the Lord Jehovah.’”

¶Unique   Ezekiel spoke to the captivity what he had seen (11:22 - 25)

^11:22Then the cherubim lifted up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

^11:23And the glory of Jehovah went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.

^11:24Afterwards the Spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity.

So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

^11:25Then I spoke to them of the captivity all the things that Jehovah had shown me.

You shall cover your face, so that you do not see the ground: for I have set you for a sign to the house of Israel.”

And I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my belongings by day, as belongings for captivity.

And in the evening I dug through the wall with my hand.

^12:7I brought it forth in the twilight, and I carried them upon my shoulder in their sight.

^12:8And in the morning the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^12:9“Son of man, has not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said to you, ‘What are you doing?’

^12:11“Say, ‘I am your sign: like as I have done, so shall it be done to them; they shall move and go into captivity. ^12:12And the prince that is among them shall bear upon his shoulder in the twilight; and he shall go forth. They shall dig through the wall to carry out thereby. He shall cover his face, so that he does not see the ground with his eyes.

^12:13“‘My net also will I spread upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare; and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans. Yet he shall not see it, though he shall die there. ^12:14And I will scatter toward every wind all that are around him to help him, and all his bands; and I will draw out the sword after them. ^12:15And they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall scatter them among the nations, and disperse them in the countries.

^12:16“‘But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the disease, that they may declare all their abominations among the heathen where they go; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.’”

^10:3Y los querubines estaban a la mano derecha de la Casa cuando este varón entró; y la nube llenaba el atrio de adentro. ^10:4Y la gloria de Jehová se levantó del querubín al umbral de la puerta; y la Casa fue llena de la nube, y el atrio se llenó del resplandor de la gloria de Jehová. ^10:5Y el estruendo de las alas de los querubines se oía hasta el atrio de afuera, como la voz del Dios Omnipotente cuando habla. ^10:6Y aconteció que, cuando mandó al varón vestido de lino, diciendo, “Toma fuego de entre las ruedas, de entre los querubines”, luego él entró, y se paró entre las ruedas. ^10:7Y un querubín extendió su mano de entre los querubines al fuego que estaba entre los querubines, y tomó, y puso en las manos del que estaba vestido de lino, el cual lo tomó y se salió. ^10:8Y apareció en los querubines la figura de una mano de hombre debajo de sus alas.

^10:9Y miré, y he aquí cuatro ruedas junto a los querubines, una rueda junto a un querubín, y otra rueda junto a otro querubín; y el aspecto de las ruedas era como la piedra de berilo. ^10:10En cuanto al parecer de ellas, las cuatro eran de una forma, como si una rueda estuviera en medio de otra rueda. ^10:11Cuando andaban, sobre sus cuatro lados andaban; no se volvían cuando andaban, sino que al lugar adonde se volvía la primera, en pos de ella iban; no se volvían cuando andaban. ^10:12Y todo su cuerpo, y sus espaldas, y sus manos, y sus alas, y las ruedas, estaban llenos de ojos alrededor en sus cuatro ruedas.

^10:13A las ruedas, oyéndolo yo, se les gritaba, ‘¡Rueda!’ ^10:14Y cada uno tenía cuatro caras. La primera tenía rostro de querubín; la segunda, rostro de hombre; la tercera, rostro de león; la cuarta, rostro de águila. ^10:15Y se levantaron los querubines; éste es el ser viviente que vi en el río de Quebar. ^10:16Y cuando andaban los querubines, andaban las ruedas junto con ellos; y cuando los querubines alzaban sus alas para levantarse de la tierra, las ruedas también no se volvían de junto a ellos. ^10:17Cuando se paraban ellos, se paraban ellas, y cuando ellos se alzaban, se alzaban con ellos: porque el espíritu de los seres vivientes estaba en ellas.

^10:18Y la gloria de Jehová se salió de sobre el umbral de la Casa, y se puso sobre los querubines. ^10:19Y alzando los querubines sus alas, se levantaron de la tierra delante de mis ojos. Cuando salieron, también las ruedas al lado de ellos; y se pararon a la entrada de la puerta oriental de la Casa de Jehová, y la gloria del Dios de Israel estaba arriba sobre ellos. ^10:20Éste era el ser viviente que vi debajo del Dios de Israel en el río de Quebar; y conocí que eran querubines. ^10:21Cada uno tenía cuatro caras, y cada uno cuatro alas, y figuras de manos de hombres debajo de sus alas. ^10:22Y la figura de sus rostros era la de los rostros que vi junto al río de Quebar, su mismo parecer y su ser; cada uno caminaba derecho hacia adelante.

¶El complemento   Jehová mandó a Ezequiel que profetizara contra los príncipes de Israel (11:1 - 12)

^11:1Y el Espíritu me elevó, y me metió por la puerta oriental de la Casa de Jehová, la cual mira hacia el oriente; y he aquí a la entrada de la puerta veinticinco varones, entre los cuales vi a Jaazanías hijo de Azur, y a Pelatías hijo de Benaía, príncipes del pueblo.

^11:2Y me dijo, “Hijo de hombre, estos son los hombres que maquinan el mal, y dan malos consejos en esta ciudad, ^11:3quien dicen, ‘El juicio no está cerca; construyamos casas; esta ciudad es el caldero, y nosotros somos la carne.’

^11:4“Por tanto, profetiza contra ellos, profetiza, hijo de hombre”.

^11:5Y el Espíritu de Jehová descendió sobre mí, y me dijo, “Di, ‘Así dice Jehová, ‘Así habéis hablado, oh casa de Israel: porque sé las cosas que vienen en vuestra mente, cada uno de ellos. ^11:6Habéis multiplicado vuestros muertos en esta ciudad, y habéis llenado de muertos sus calles’.

^11:7“Por tanto, así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Vuestros muertos que habéis puesto en medio de ella, ellos son la carne, y ella es la caldera; pero yo os sacaré a ustedes de en medio de ella. ^11:8Espada habéis temido, y espada traeré sobre ustedes,’ dice Jehová el Señor. ^11:9‘Y os sacaré de en medio de ella, y os entregaré en manos de extraños, y yo haré juicios entre ustedes. ^11:10A espada caeréis; en el término de Israel os juzgaré, y sabréis que soy Jehová. ^11:11Esta ciudad no os será por caldera, ni ustedes seréis en medio de ella la carne; en el término de Israel os juzgaré. ^11:12Y sabréis que soy Jehová: porque no habéis andado en mis Estatutos, ni habéis obedecido mis Juicios, sino según las costumbres de las gentes que están en vuestros alrededores habéis hecho’”.

¶El complemento   Jehová le prometió a Ezequiel que protegería y bendeciría a los judíos en cautiverio en otros países (11:13 - 21)

^11:13Y aconteció que mientras yo profetizaba, Pelatías hijo de Benaía murió.

Entonces caí sobre mi rostro, y clamé con grande voz, y dije, “¡Ah, Señor Jehová! ¿Habrás de exterminar al remanente de Israel?”. ^11:14Y vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^11:15“Hijo de hombre, tus hermanos, tus hermanos, los hombres de tu parentesco y toda la casa de Israel, toda ella son aquellos a quienes dijeron los moradores de Jerusalén, ‘Alejaos de Jehová; a nosotros es dada la tierra en posesión’.

^11:16“Por tanto, di, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor: ‘Aunque los he echado lejos entre las naciones, y los he esparcido por las tierras, con todo eso les seré por un pequeño Santuario en las tierras a donde llegaren’’”.

^11:17“Por tanto, di, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor: ‘Yo os recogeré de los pueblos, y os congregaré de las tierras en las cuales estáis esparcidos, y os daré la tierra de Israel. ^11:18Y vendrán allá, y quitarán de ella todas las cosas detestables, y todas sus abominaciones. ^11:19Y les daré un solo corazón, y pondré un espíritu nuevo dentro de ellos; y quitaré el corazón de piedra de su carne, y les daré corazón de carne; ^11:20para que anden en mis ordenanzas, y guarden mis juicios y los cumplan, y serán mi pueblo, y yo seré su Dios.

^11:21“‘‘Pero a aquellos cuyo corazón anda tras el deseo de sus cosas detestables y de sus abominaciones, yo haré que recaiga su camino sobre sus cabezas,’ dice el Señor Jehová’”.

¶Único    Ezequiel habló al cautiverio de lo que había visto (11:22 - 25)

^11:22Después alzaron los querubines sus alas, y las ruedas en pos de ellos; y la gloria del Dios de Israel estaba encima sobre ellos.

^11:23Y la gloria de Jehová se fue de en medio de la ciudad, y se puso sobre el monte que está al oriente de la ciudad.

^11:24Luego me levantó el Espíritu, y me volvió a llevar en visión del Espíritu de Dios a la tierra de los caldeos, a los cautivos.

Así la visión que había visto subió desde mí.

^11:25Y hablé a los cautivos todas las cosas que Jehová me había mostrado.

§Único   Conclusión: Jehová usó a Ezequiel para ser un signo a Israel en cautiverio de la inminente captura del rey Sedequías (12:1 - 16)/p>

¶El complemento   Jehová mandó a Ezequiel que representara lo que pronto estaría haciendo el rey Sedequías en Jerusalén (12:1 - 7)/p>

^12:1Y vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^12:2“Hijo de hombre, tú habitas en medio de casa rebelde, los cuales tienen ojos para ver, y no ven, tienen oídos para oír, y no oyen: porque son casa rebelde.

^12:3“Por tanto tú, hijo de hombre, hazte equipaje de partida, y márchate de día delante de sus ojos; y te pasarás de tu lugar a otro lugar a vista de ellos, por si tal vez consideren: porque son casa rebelde. ^12:4Entonces sacarás tu equipaje, como equipaje de cautivo, de día delante de sus ojos; y tú saldrás por la tarde a vista de ellos, como quien sale a cautiverio. ^12:5Delante de sus ojos horadarás la pared, y saldrás por ella. ^12:6Delante de sus ojos llevarás sobre tus hombros el equipaje, de noche lo sacarás; cubrirás tu rostro, y no mirarás la tierra: porque te he puesto por señal a la casa de Israel”.

^12:7Y yo hice así como me fue mandado: saqué mi equipaje de día, como equipaje de cautivo.

Y a la tarde horadé la pared a mano.

Salí de noche, y llevé mi equipaje sobre los hombros a vista de ellos.

¶El complemento   Jehová usaría al ejército babilónico para capturar al rey Sedequías y llevarle a Babilonia (12:8 - 16)

^12:8Y vino a mi Palabra de Jehová por la mañana, diciendo, ^12:9“Hijo de hombre, ¿no te ha dicho la casa de Israel, aquella casa rebelde, ‘¿Qué haces?’

^12:10“Diles, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor: ‘Al príncipe en Jerusalén es esta carga, y a toda la casa de Israel que está en medio de ellos’’”.

^12:11“Diles, ‘Soy vuestra señal; como yo hice, así les harán a ellos; irán al destierro, a la cautividad. ^12:12Y al príncipe que está en medio de ellos llevarán a cuestas de noche, y saldrán; horadarán la pared para sacarlo por ella; cubrirá su rostro para no ver con sus ojos la tierra.

^12:13“‘Pero yo extenderé mi red sobre él, y será preso en mi malla, y lo haré llevar a Babilonia, a tierra de caldeos; pero no la verá, y allá morirá. ^12:14Y a todos los que estuvieren alrededor de él para ayudarle, y a todas sus tropas esparciré a todo viento, y desenvainaré espada en pos de ellos. ^12:15Y sabrán que soy Jehová, cuando los esparciere entre las naciones, y los dispersare por las tierras.

^12:16“‘Pero haré que de ellos queden pocos en número, de la espada, y del hambre, y de la pestilencia, para que cuenten todas sus abominaciones entre las naciones adonde llegaren; y sabrán que soy Jehová’”.
