Ezekiel, Chapter 2.1: Jehovah will punish the treacherous friends of Israel among the Gentiles: Tyrus and Egypt (25:1 - 32:32)

Introduction: Jehovah will destroy the neighbors of Israel, because they rejoiced at her fall and coveted her plunder (25:1 - 26:21)

¶Opposite   Jehovah will destroy the Ammonites, Edom, and the Philistines, because they rejoiced when Israel was destroyed (25:1 - 17)

¶Opposite   Jehovah will destroy Tyrus, because they coveted the plunder of Israel when it was destroyed (26:1 - 21)

Body: Both the prince and the king of Tyrus (Lucifer) imagined themselves to be gods, but Jehovah will destroy them (27:1 - 28:26)

¶Opposite   Tyrus became very wealthy and powerful, because of a great fleet of merchant ships (27:1 - 25)

¶Opposite   All of the riches of Tyrus will be lost or plundered (27:26 - 36)

^25:1The Word of Jehovah came again to me, saying, ^25:2“Son of man, set your face against the Ammonites; and prophesy against them.

^25:3And say to the Ammonites, ‘Hear the Word of the Lord Jehovah; thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Because you said ‘Aha’ against my Sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity; ^25:4therefore, behold, I will deliver you to the men of the east for a possession; and they shall set their palaces in you, and make their dwellings in you; they shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk. ^25:5And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels; and the Ammonites a couching place for flocks; and you shall know that I am Jehovah.’ ^25:6For thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Because you have clapped your hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced in heart with all your spite against the land of Israel, ^25:7behold, therefore I will stretch out my hand upon you, and I will deliver you for a plunder to the heathen. And I will cut you off from the people, and I will cause you to perish out of the countries. I will destroy you; and you shall know that I am Jehovah.’

^25:8Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Because Moab and Seir say, ‘Behold, the house of Judah is like all the heathen’, ^25:9therefore, behold, I will open the side of Moab from the cities, from his cities which are on his frontiers, the glory of the country, Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim, ^25:10to the men of the east with the Ammonites. And I will give them in possession, that the Ammonites may not be remembered among the nations. ^25:11And I will execute judgments upon Moab; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.’

^25:12Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Because Edom has dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and has greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them,’ ^25:13therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘I will also stretch out my hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword. ^25:14And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel; and they shall do in Edom according to my anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance,’ says the Lord Jehovah.

^25:15Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a spiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred,’ ^25:16therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, I will stretch out my hand upon the Philistines; and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the seacoast. ^25:17And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes. And they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.’”

¶Opposite   Jehovah will destroy Tyrus, because they coveted the plunder of Israel when it was destroyed (26:1 - 21)

^26:1And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first day of the month, that the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^26:2“Son of man, because Tyrus has said against Jerusalem, ‘Aha, she is broken that was the gates of the people; she is turned to me. I shall be replenished, now that she is laid waste’; ^26:3therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, I am against you, O Tyrus, and will cause many nations to come up against you, as the sea causes his waves to come up. ^26:4And they shall destroy the walls of Tyrus, and break down her towers; I will also scrape her dust from her, and make her like the top of a rock. ^26:5It shall be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea: for I have spoken it,’ says the Lord Jehovah, ‘and it shall become a plunder to the nations. ^26:6And her daughters which are in the field shall be slain by the sword; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.’

^26:7For thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, I will bring upon Tyrus Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, a king of kings, from the north, with horses, and with chariots, and with horsemen, and companies, and many people. ^26:8He shall slay your daughters in the field with the sword; and he shall make a fort against you, and cast a mount against you, and lift up the buckler against you. ^26:9And he shall set engines of war against your walls, and with his axes shall he break down your towers. ^26:10By reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover you; your walls shall shake at the noise of the horsemen, and of the wheels, and of the chariots, when he shall enter into your gates, as men enter into a city in which a breach has been made. ^26:11With the hoofs of his horses shall he tread down all your streets; he shall slay your people by the sword, and your strong garrisons shall go down to the ground. ^26:12And they shall make a plunder of your riches, and make a prey of your merchandise; and they shall break down your walls, and destroy your pleasant houses; and they shall lay your stones and your timber and your dust in the midst of the water. ^26:13And I will cause the noise of your songs to cease; and the sound of your harps shall be heard no more. ^26:14And I will make you like the top of a rock. You shall be a place to spread nets upon; you shall be built no more: for I Jehovah have spoken it,’ says the Lord Jehovah.

^26:15Thus says the Lord Jehovah to Tyrus: ‘Shall not the isles shake at the sound of your fall, when the wounded cry, when the slaughter is made in your midst? ^26:16Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay away their robes, and put off their many-colored garments. They shall clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall tremble at every moment, and be astonished at you. ^26:17And they shall take up a lamentation for you, and say to you, ‘How are you destroyed, that were inhabited of seafaring men, the renowned city, which was strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which cause their terror to be on all that haunt it!’

^26:18Now shall the isles tremble in the day of your fall; moreover, the isles that are in the sea shall be troubled at your departure’: ^26:19for thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘When I shall make you a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon you, and great water shall cover you; ^26:20when I shall bring you down with them that descend into the Pit, with the people of old time, and shall set you in the low parts of the earth, in places desolate of old, with them that go down to the Pit, so that you are not inhabited; and I shall set glory in the land of the living.

^26:21I will make you a terror, and you shall be no more; though you are sought for, yet you shall never be found again,’ says the Lord Jehovah.”

§Complement   Body: Both the prince and the king of Tyrus (Lucifer) imagined themselves to be gods, but Jehovah will destroy them (27:1 - 28:26)

^27:1The Word of Jehovah came again to me, saying, ^27:2“Now, you son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus; ^27:3and say to Tyrus, ‘O you that are situated at the entry of the sea, a merchant of the people for many isles,’ thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘O Tyrus, you have said, ‘I am of perfect beauty.’ ^27:4Your borders are in the midst of the seas. Your builders have perfected your beauty. ^27:5They have made all your ship boards of fir trees of Senir; they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for you. ^27:6Of the oaks of Bashan have they made your oars. The company of the Ashurites have made your benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim. ^27:7Fine linen with many-colored work from Egypt was that which you spread forth to be your sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that which covered you.

^27:8The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were your mariners; your wise men, O Tyrus, that were in you, were your pilots. ^27:9The ancients of Gebal and its wise men were in you your calkers; all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in you to occupy your merchandise.

^27:10They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in your army, your men of war; they hung the shield and helmet in you; they set forth your comeliness. ^27:11The men of Arvad with your army were upon your walls round about; and the Gammadims were in your towers; they hung their shields upon your walls round about; they have made your beauty perfect.

^27:12Tarshish was your merchant by reason of the multitude of all kinds of riches: with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in your fairs. ^27:13Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were your merchants; they traded the persons of men and vessels of bronze in your market. ^27:14They of the house of Togarmah traded in your fairs with horses and horsemen and mules. ^27:15The men of Dedan were your merchants; many isles were the merchandise of your hand, they brought you for a present horns of ivory and ebony. ^27:16Syria was your merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of your making, they traded in your fairs with emeralds, purple, and many-colored work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate. ^27:17Judah and the land of Israel, they were your merchants: they traded in your market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm. ^27:18Damascus was your merchant in the multitude of the wares of your making, for the multitude of all riches: in the wine of Helbon, and white wool. ^27:19Dan also and Javan going to and fro traded in your fairs; bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were in your market. ^27:20Dedan was your merchant in precious clothes for chariots. ^27:21Arabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they traded with you in lambs, and rams, and goats: in these were they your merchants. ^27:22The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were your merchants: they traded in your fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold. ^27:23Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were your merchants. ^27:24These were your merchants in all sorts of things, in blue clothes, and many-colored work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords, and made of cedar, among your merchandise.

^27:25The ships of Tarshish sang of you in your market; and you were replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.

¶Opposite   All of the riches of Tyrus will be lost or plundered (27:26 - 36)

^27:26But your rowers have brought you into great water; the east wind has broken you in the midst of the seas. ^27:27Your riches, and your fairs, your merchandise, your mariners, and your pilots, your calkers, and the occupiers of your merchandise, and all your men of war, that are in you, and in all your company which is in your midst, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of your ruin. ^27:28The suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of your pilots.

^27:29And all that handle the oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships; they shall stand upon the land; ^27:30and they shall cause their voice to be heard against you; and they shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads; they shall wallow themselves in the ashes; ^27:31and they shall make themselves utterly bald for you, and gird themselves with sackcloth; and they shall weep for you with bitterness of heart and bitter wailing. ^27:32And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for you, and lament over you, saying, ‘What city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed city in the midst of the sea?’

^27:33When your wares went forth out of the seas, you filled many people; you enriched the kings of the earth with the multitude of your riches and of your merchandise.

^27:34In the time when you shall be broken by the seas in the depths of the water your merchandise and all your company in your midst shall fall.

^27:35All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at you; and their kings shall be very afraid, they shall be troubled in their countenance. The merchants among the people shall whistle at you; you shall be a terror, and never shall be anymore.’”

¶Complement   The prince of Tyrus imagined himself to be a god, but Jehovah would slay him (28:1 - 10)

^28:1The Word of Jehovah came again to me, saying, ^28:2“Son of man, say to the prince of Tyrus, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Because your heart is lifted up; and you have said, ‘I am a god; I sit in the seat of gods, in the midst of the seas’; yet you are a man, and not a god, though you set your heart as the heart of a god.

^28:3Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from you. ^28:4With your wisdom and with your understanding you have acquired riches; and you have brought gold and silver into your treasures.

^28:5By your great wisdom and by your trade you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches.’

^28:6Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Because you have set your heart as the heart of a god, ^28:7behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon you, the dreadful of the nations; and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and they shall defile your brightness. ^28:8They shall bring you down to the Pit; and you shall die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.

^28:9Will you still say ‘I am a god’, before him that slays you? But you shall be a man, and not a god, in the hand of him that slays you. ^28:10You shall die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it,’ says the Lord Jehovah.’”

¶Complement   The king of Tyrus (Lucifer) imagined himself to be a god, but Jehovah will slay him (28:11 - 19)

^28:11Moreover the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^28:12“Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus; and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘You seal up the sum: full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. ^28:13You have been in Eden the garden of God. Every precious stone was your covering: the sardius, topaz, the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and your music pipes was prepared in you in the day that you were created.

^28:14You are the anointed cherub that covers; and I have set you so. You were upon the holy mountain of God; you walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

^28:15You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until iniquity was found in you.

^28:16By the multitude of your merchandise they have filled the midst of you with violence, and you have sinned; therefore I will cast you as profane out of the mountain of God; and I will destroy you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

^28:17Your heart was lifted up with pride because of your beauty; you have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness. I will cast you to the ground, and I will lay you before kings, that they may behold you. ^28:18You have defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your traffic; therefore I will bring forth a fire from your midst; it shall devour you, and I will bring you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold you. ^28:19All they that know you among the people shall be astonished at you. You shall be a terror, and never shall you be anymore.’’”

¶Unique   Jehovah will protect the house of Israel from their enemies after He brings them back to their land (28:20 - 26)

^28:20Again the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^28:21“Son of man, set your face against Zidon, and prophesy against it; ^28:22and say, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, I am against you, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in your midst. And they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her: ^28:23for I will send disease into her, and blood into her street; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

^28:24And there shall no longer be a pricking brier to the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah.’

^28:25Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.

^28:26And they shall dwell safely in it, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards.

Moreover, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them.And they shall know that I am Jehovah their God.’’”

§Complement   Conclusion: Jehovah will destroy the land of Egypt and slay Pharaoh and all his multitude (29:1 - 32:32)

^29:1In the tenth year, in the tenth month, in the twelfth day of the month, the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^29:2“Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt; and prophesy against him; and against all Egypt. ^29:3Speak, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt: the great dragon that lies in the midst of his rivers, who has said, ‘My river is my own, and I have made it for myself.’ ^29:4But I will put hooks in your jaws, and I will cause the fish of your rivers to stick to your scales, and I will bring you up out of the midst of your rivers, and all the fish of your rivers shall stick to your scales. ^29:5And I will leave you thrown into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers; you shall fall upon the open fields; you shall not be brought together, nor gathered. I have given you for food to the beasts of the field and to the birds of the heaven. ^29:6And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am Jehovah, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel. ^29:7When they took hold of you by your hand, you broke, and tore all their shoulder; and when they leaned upon you, you broke, and made all their loins to be at a stand.’ ^29:8Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, I will bring a sword upon you, and cut off man and beast out of you. ^29:9And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am Jehovah, because he has said, ‘The river is mine, and I have made it.’ ^29:10Behold, therefore I am against you, and against your rivers; and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from the tower of Syene even to the border of Ethiopia. ^29:11No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it; neither shall it be inhabited forty years. ^29:12And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate; and her cities shall be desolate forty years, among the cities that are laid waste; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.’

^29:13Yet thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the people where they were scattered; ^29:14and I will bring again the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their habitation; and there they shall be a lowly kingdom. ^29:15It shall be the lowliest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself anymore above the nations: for I will diminish them, so that they shall rule over the nations no more. ^29:16And it shall no longer be the confidence of the house of Israel, which brings their iniquity to remembrance, when they shall look after them; but they shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah.’’”

^29:17And it came to pass in the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^29:18“Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyrus; every head was made bald, and every shoulder was rubbed raw; yet had he no wages, nor his army, for Tyrus, for the service that he had served against it. ^29:19Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her multitude, and take her plunder, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army. ^29:20I have given him the land of Egypt for his labor with which he served against it, because they worked for me,’ says the Lord Jehovah. ^29:21‘In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth; and I will give you the opening of the mouth in their midst; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.’”

^30:1The Word of Jehovah came again to me, saying, ^30:2“Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Howl, ‘Woe worth the day!’ ^30:3For the Day is near, even the Day of Jehovah is near; a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen. ^30:4And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt. And they shall take away her multitude; and her foundations shall be broken down. ^30:5Ethiopia, Libya, Lydia, and all the mingled people, and Chub, and the men of the land that are in league, shall fall with them by the sword.’ ^30:6Thus says Jehovah: ‘They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down. From the tower of Syene shall they fall in it by the sword,’ says the Lord Jehovah. ^30:7‘And they shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate; and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted. ^30:8And they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and all her helpers shall be destroyed. ^30:9In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid; and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it is coming.’ ^30:10Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. ^30:11He and his people with him, the dreadful of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land. And they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain. ^30:12And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked; and I will make the land waste, and all that is in it, by the hand of strangers; I Jehovah have spoken it.’ ^30:13Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause their images to cease out of Noph; and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt; and I will put fear in the land of Egypt. ^30:14And I will make Pathros desolate, and will set fire in Zoan, and will execute judgments in the city of No. ^30:15And I will pour my fury upon Sin, the strength of Egypt; and I will cut off the multitude of No. ^30:16And I will set fire in Egypt: Sin shall have great pain, and No shall be torn asunder, and Noph shall have distresses daily. ^30:17The young men of Aven and of Pi-beseth shall fall by the sword; and these cities shall go into captivity. ^30:18At Tehaphnehes also the day shall be darkened, when I shall break there the yokes of Egypt; and the pomp of her strength shall cease in her. As for her, a cloud shall cover her; and her daughters shall go into captivity. ^30:19In this manner will I execute judgments in Egypt; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.’”

^30:20And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first month, in the seventh day of the month, that the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^30:21“Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, lo, it shall not be bound up to be healed, to put a roller to bind it, to make it strong to hold the sword. ^30:22Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt; and I will break his arms: the strong, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand. ^30:23And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries. ^30:24And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand; but I will break Pharaoh's arms, and he shall groan before him with the groaning of a mortally wounded man. ^30:25But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt. ^30:26And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations; and disperse them among the countries; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.’”

¶Complement   Jehovah will slay Pharaoh the king of Egypt and all his multitude (31:1 - 32:32)

^31:1And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^31:2“Son of man, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude: ‘Who are you like in your greatness? ^31:3Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of a high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs. ^31:4The waters made him great; the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers to all the trees of the field. ^31:5Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the great quantity of water, when he shot forth. ^31:6All the birds of heaven made their nests in his boughs; and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young; and under his shadow dwelt all great nations. ^31:7Thus he was beautiful in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great water. ^31:8The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him; the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chestnut trees were not like his branches, nor was any tree in the garden of God like him in his beauty. ^31:9I have made him beautiful by the multitude of his branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.’

^31:10Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Because you have lifted up yourself in height, and he has shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height, ^31:11therefore I have delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him. I have driven him out for his wickedness. ^31:12And strangers, the dreadful of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him; upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth have gone down from his shadow, and have left him. ^31:13Upon his ruin shall all the birds of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches, ^31:14to the end that none of all the trees by the water exalt themselves for their height; neither do they shoot up their top among the thick boughs; neither do their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered to death, to the lower parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the Pit.’ ^31:15Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning; I covered the deep for him; and I restrained its floods, and the great water was stayed. And I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. ^31:16I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Hell with them that descend into the Pit. And all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the lower parts of the earth. ^31:17They also went down into Hell with him to them that were slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen. ^31:18To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet you shall be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lower parts of the earth; you shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that were slain by the sword.’ This is Pharaoh and all his multitude,’ says the Lord Jehovah.”

^32:1And it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first day of the month, that the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^32:2“Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him, ‘You are like a young lion of the nations; and you are like a whale in the seas; and you came forth with your rivers, and troubled the water with your feet, and fouled their rivers.’ ^32:3Thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Therefore will I spread out my net over you with a company of many people; and they shall bring you up in my net. ^32:4Then will I leave you upon the land, I will cast you forth upon the open field, and will cause all the birds of the heaven to remain upon you; and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with you. ^32:5And I will lay your flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with your height. ^32:6I will also water with your blood the land in which you swim, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of you. ^32:7And when I shall put you out, I will cover the heaven, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. ^32:8All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over you, and set darkness upon your land,’ says the Lord Jehovah. ^32:9‘I will also trouble the hearts of many people, when I shall bring your destruction among the nations, into the countries which you have not known. ^32:10Moreover, I will make many people amazed at you, and their kings shall be horribly afraid for you, when I shall brandish my sword before them; and they shall tremble at every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of your fall.’

^32:11For thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you. ^32:12By the swords of the mighty will I cause your multitude to fall, the dreadful of the nations, all of them; and they shall plunder the pomp of Egypt, and all its multitude shall be destroyed. ^32:13I will destroy also all its beasts from beside the great waters; neither shall the foot of man trouble them anymore, nor the hoofs of beasts trouble them. ^32:14Then will I make their water deep, and cause their rivers to run like oil,’ says the Lord Jehovah. ^32:15‘When I shall make the land of Egypt desolate, and the country shall be destitute of that by which it was full; when I shall smite all them that dwell in it, then shall they know that I am Jehovah. ^32:16This is the lamentation with which they shall lament her. The daughters of the nations shall lament her; they shall lament for her, even for Egypt, and for all her multitude,’ says the Lord Jehovah.”

^32:17It came to pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth day of the month, that the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ^32:18“Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, to the lower parts of the earth, with them that go down into the Pit, saying, ^32:19‘Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down, and be laid with the uncircumcised.’ ^32:20They shall fall in the midst of them that are slain by the sword; she is delivered to the sword; draw her and all her multitudes. ^32:21The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of Hell with them that help him; they have gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword. ^32:22Assyria is there and all her company; his graves are around him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, ^32:23whose graves are set in the sides of the Pit, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living. ^32:24Elam and all her multitude are there, round about her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which have gone down uncircumcised into the lower parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the Pit. ^32:25They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude. Her graves are round about him; all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the Pit. He is put in the midst of them that are slain. ^32:26Meshech, Tubal, and all her multitude are there; her graves are round about him; all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though they caused their terror in the land of the living. ^32:27And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised, which have gone down to Hell with their weapons of war; and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living. ^32:28Moreover, you shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shall lie with them that are slain with the sword. ^32:29Edom is there, her kings, and all her princes, which with their might are laid by them that were slain by the sword. They shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down to the Pit. ^32:30The princes of the north are there, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which have gone down with the slain. With their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with them that are slain by the sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the Pit. ^32:31Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, even Pharaoh and all his army slain by the sword,’ says the Lord Jehovah. ^32:32‘For I have caused my terror in the land of the living; and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that are slain with the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude,’ says the Lord Jehovah.”

^25:8Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Por cuanto dijo Moab y Seir, ‘He aquí la casa de Judá es como todas las naciones’, ^25:9por tanto, he aquí yo abro el lado de Moab desde las ciudades, desde sus ciudades que están en su confín, las tierras deseables de Bet-jesimot, y Baal-meón, y Quiriataim, ^25:10a los hijos del oriente contra los hijos de Amón; y la entregaré por heredad para que no haya más memoria de los hijos de Amón entre las naciones. ^25:11También en Moab haré juicios; y sabrán que soy Jehová’.

^25:12Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Por lo que hizo Edom tomando venganza de la casa de Judá, pues delinquieron en extremo, y se vengaron de ellos,’ ^25:13por tanto, así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Yo también extenderé mi mano sobre Edom, y cortaré de ella hombres y bestias, y la asolaré; desde Temán y Dedán caerán a espada. ^25:14Y pondré mi venganza en Edom por la mano de mi pueblo Israel; y harán en Edom según mi enojo y según mi ira; y conocerán mi venganza,’ dice Jehová el Señor.

^25:15Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Porque los filisteos procedieron con venganza, cuando se vengaron con despecho de ánimo, destruyendo por antiguas enemistades,’ ^25:16por tanto, así dice Jehová, ‘He aquí yo extiendo mi mano contra los filisteos; y talaré los cereteos, y destruiré el remanente de la costa del mar. ^25:17Y ejecutaré sobre ellos grandes venganzas con reprensiones de ira. ^26:7Porque así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘He aquí que del norte traigo yo contra Tiro a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, rey de reyes, con caballos, y carros, y jinetes, y compañías, y mucho pueblo. ^26:8Matará a espada a tus hijas que están en el campo; y pondrá contra ti fortaleza, y levantará contra ti baluarte, y escudo afirmará contra ti. ^26:9Y pondrá arietes contra tus muros, y con sus hachas demolerá tus torres. ^26:10Por la multitud de sus caballos te cubrirá el polvo de ellos; con el estruendo de la caballería, y de las ruedas, y de los carros, temblarán tus muros, cuando él entre por tus puertas como por portillos de ciudad destruida. ^26:11Con los cascos de sus caballos hollará todas tus calles; a tu pueblo matará a espada, y las estatuas de tu fortaleza caerán a tierra. ^26:12Y robarán tus riquezas, y saquearán tus mercaderías; y arruinarán tus muros, y tus casas preciosas destruirán; y pondrán tus piedras y tu madera y tu polvo en medio de las aguas. ^26:13Y haré cesar el estrépito de tus canciones, y no se oirá más el sonido de tus arpas. ^26:14Y te pondré como una roca lisa; tendedero de redes serás; nunca más serás edificada: porque yo Jehová he hablado,’ dice Jehová el Señor.

^26:15Así dice Jehová el Señor a Tiro, ‘¿No se estremecerán las islas al estruendo de tu caída, cuando griten los heridos, cuando se haga la matanza en medio de ti? ^26:16Entonces todos los príncipes del mar descenderán de sus tronos, y se quitarán sus mantos, y desnudarán sus ropas bordadas; se vestirán de espanto, se sentarán sobre la tierra, y temblarán a cada momento y estarán ante ti atónitos. ^26:17Y levantarán sobre ti endechas, y te dirán, ‘¿Cómo pereciste tú, poblada por gente de mar, ciudad que fue alabada, que fue fuerte en el mar, ella y sus habitantes, que infundían terror a todos sus vecinos?’

^26:18Ahora se estremecerán las islas en el día de tu caída, sí, las islas que están en el mar se espantarán de tu partida’. ^26:19Porque así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Yo te tornaré en ciudad asolada, como las ciudades que no se habitan; haré subir sobre ti el abismo, y las muchas aguas te cubrirán. ^26:20Y te haré descender con los que descienden a la fosa, con el pueblo de antaño; y te pondré en las profundidades de la tierra, como los desiertos antiguos, con los que descienden a la fosa, para que nunca más seas poblada; y yo daré gloria en la tierra de los vivientes.

^26:21Yo te convertiré en espanto, y dejarás de ser; aunque seas buscada, nunca más serás hallada,’ dice Jehová el Señor”.

^27:8Los moradores de Sidón y de Arvad fueron tus remeros; tus sabios, oh Tiro, estaban en ti; fueron tus timoneles. ^27:9Los ancianos de Gebal y sus expertos calafateadores reparaban tus junturas; todas las galeras del mar y los remeros de ellas estuvieron en ti para negociar contigo.

^27:10Persas y los de Lud, y los de Fut, fueron en tu ejército tus hombres de guerra; escudos y yelmos colgaron en ti; ellos te dieron tu honra. ^27:11Y los hijos de Arvad con tu ejército estuvieron sobre tus muros alrededor, y los gamadeos en tus torres; sus escudos colgaron sobre tus muros alrededor; ellos completaron tu hermosura.

^27:12Tarsis tu mercader a causa de la multitud de todas tus riquezas; con plata, hierro, estaño y plomo, comerciaba en tus ferias. ^27:13Grecia, Tubal, y Mesec, fueron tus mercaderes, con hombres y con utensilios de bronce, comerciaban en tus ferias. ^27:14De la casa de Togarma, caballos y jinetes y mulos, comerciaban en tu mercado. ^27:15Los hijos de Dedán eran tus negociantes; muchas costas tomaban mercadería de tu mano; colmillos de marfil y ébano te dieron en presente. ^27:16Siria fue tu mercader por la multitud de tus productos; venía a tus ferias con esmeraldas, púrpura, vestidos bordados, linos finos, corales y rubíes. ^27:17Judá, y la tierra de Israel, eran tus mercaderes; con trigos de Minit y Panag, miel, aceite y resina comerciaban en tu mercado. ^27:18Damasco, era tu mercader por la multitud de tus productos, por la abundancia de toda riqueza, con vino de Helbón y lana blanca. ^27:19Asimismo Dan y el errante Javán vinieron a tus ferias, para negociar en tu mercado con hierro labrado, casia y caña aromática. ^27:20Dedán fue tu mercader con paños preciosos para carros. ^27:21Arabia y todos los príncipes de Cedar, comerciaban contigo en corderos, y carneros, y machos cabríos; en estas cosas fueron tus mercaderes. ^27:22Los mercaderes de Seba y de Raama fueron tus mercaderes; con lo principal de toda especiería, y toda piedra preciosa, y oro, vinieron a tus ferias. ^27:23Harán, Cane, Edén, y los mercaderes de Seba, de Asiria y de Quilmad comerciaban contigo. ^27:24Éstos eran tus mercaderes en varias cosas; en mantos de azul, y bordados, y en cajas de ropas preciosas, enlazadas con cordones, y en madera de cedro.

^27:25Las naves de Tarsis, eran tus flotas que llevaban tus mercancías; y llegaste a ser opulenta y muy gloriosa en medio de los mares.

¶Lo opuesto   Todas las riquezas de Tyrus se perderán o serán saqueadas (27:26 - 36)

^27:26En muchas aguas te engolfaron tus remeros; viento solano te quebrantó en medio de los mares. ^27:27Tus riquezas, tus mercancías, tu comercio, tus marineros, tus timoneles, tus calafateadores, los agentes de tus negocios y todos tus hombres de guerra que hay en ti, con toda tu compañía que en medio de ti se halla, caerán en medio de los mares el día de tu caída. ^27:28Al estrépito de las voces de tus timoneles temblarán las costas.

^27:29Y descenderán de sus naves todos los que toman remo; remeros, y todos los timoneles del mar se pararán en tierra; ^27:30y harán oír su voz sobre ti, y gritarán amargamente, y echarán polvo sobre sus cabezas, y se revolcarán en la ceniza. ^27:31Y se raparán la cabeza por causa de ti, y se ceñirán con cilicio, y llorarán por ti con amargura de corazón y amargo duelo. ^27:32Y en sus endechas levantarán sobre ti lamentaciones, y endecharán sobre ti diciendo, ‘¿Quién como Tiro, como la ciudad destruida en medio del mar?’

^27:33Cuando tus mercaderías salían de las naves, saciabas a muchos pueblos; a los reyes de la tierra enriqueciste con la multitud de tus riquezas y de tus mercancías.

^27:34En el tiempo en que serás destrozada por los mares en las profundidades de las aguas, tu comercio y toda tu compañía caerán en medio de ti.

^27:35Todos los moradores de las islas se maravillarán sobre ti, y sus reyes temblarán de espanto; y demudarán sus rostros. Los mercaderes en los pueblos silbarán sobre ti; vendrás a ser espanto, y para siempre dejarás de ser’”.

^28:3He aquí que tú eres más sabio que Daniel; no hay secreto que te sea oculto; ^28:4con tu sabiduría y con tu prudencia has acumulado riquezas, y has adquirido oro y plata en tus tesoros.

^28:5Con la grandeza de tu sabiduría y tu comercio has multiplicado tus riquezas; y a causa de tus riquezas se ha enaltecido tu corazón’.

^28:6Por tanto, así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Por cuanto pusiste tu corazón como corazón de Dios, ^28:7por tanto, he aquí yo traigo sobre ti extranjeros, los violentos de las naciones, que desenvainarán sus espadas contra la hermosura de tu sabiduría, y mancharán tu esplendor. ^28:8A la fosa te harán descender, y morirás de la muerte de los que mueren en medio de los mares.

^28:9¿Hablarás delante del que te mate, diciendo, ‘Soy Dios?’ Tú, hombre eres, y no Dios, en la mano de tu matador. ^28:10De muerte de incircuncisos morirás por mano de extranjeros: porque yo he hablado,’ dice Jehová el Señor’”.

^28:14Tú eres el querubín ungido que cubre; y yo te puse así; en el santo monte de Dios estuviste; en medio de piedras de fuego has andado.

^28:15Perfecto eras en todos tus caminos desde el día que fuiste creado, hasta que se halló en ti maldad.

^28:16A causa de la multitud de tus contrataciones fuiste lleno de iniquidad, y pecaste; por lo cual yo te echaré por profano del monte de Dios, y te destruiré, oh querubín protector, de entre las piedras del fuego.

^28:17Se enalteció tu corazón a causa de tu hermosura, corrompiste tu sabiduría a causa de tu esplendor; yo te arrojaré por tierra; delante de los reyes te pondré para que miren en ti. ^28:18Con la multitud de tus maldades, y con la iniquidad de tus contrataciones profanaste tu santuario; yo, pues, sacaré fuego de en medio de ti, el cual te consumirá, y te pondré en ceniza sobre la tierra a los ojos de todos los que te miran. ^28:19Todos los que te conocieron de entre los pueblos se maravillarán sobre ti; espanto serás, y para siempre dejarás de ser’’”.

¶Único   Jehová protegerá a la casa de Israel desde sus enemigos después de que Él los lleve de regreso a su tierra (28:20 - 26)

^28:20Y vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^28:21“Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro hacia Sidón, y profetiza contra ella; ^28:22y dirás, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘He aquí yo contra ti, oh Sidón, y en medio de ti seré glorificado. Y sabrán que soy Jehová, cuando ejecute en ella juicios, y en ella sea santificado: ^28:23porque pestilencia enviaré a ella, y sangre en sus calles; y caerán muertos en medio de ella; con espada contra ella por todos lados; y sabrán que soy Jehová.

^28:24Y nunca más será a la casa de Israel espina que le hiera, ni aguijón que le dé dolor, en medio de cuantos la rodean y la desprecian; y sabrán que soy Jehová el Señor’.

^28:25Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Cuando reúna la casa de Israel de los pueblos entre los cuales está esparcida, entonces me santificaré en ellos a los ojos de las naciones, y habitarán en su tierra, la cual di a mi siervo Jacob.

^28:26“‘Y habitarán en ella seguros, y edificarán casas, y plantarán viñas.

“‘‘Además, habitarán confiadamente, cuando yo haya ejecutado juicios en todos los que los desprecian en sus alrededores. Y sabrán que soy Jehová su Dios’’”.

§El complemento   Conclusión: Jehová destruirá la tierra de Egipto y matará a Faraón ya toda su multitud (29:1 - 32:32)

¶El complemento   Jehová destruirá Egipto de la mano de su siervo Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia (29:1 - 30:26)

^29:1En el año décimo, en el mes décimo, a los doce del mes, vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^29:2“Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro contra Faraón rey de Egipto, y profetiza contra él y contra todo Egipto. ^29:3Habla, y di, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘He aquí yo contra ti, Faraón rey de Egipto, el gran dragón que yace en medio de sus ríos, el cual dijo, ‘Mío es mi río, y yo lo hice para mí’. ^29:4Yo pues, pondré anzuelos en tus quijadas, y haré que los peces de tus ríos se peguen a tus escamas, y te sacaré de en medio de tus ríos, y todos los peces de tus ríos se pegarán a tus escamas. ^29:5Y te dejaré en el desierto, a ti y a todos los peces de tus ríos; sobre la faz del campo caerás; no serás recogido, ni serás juntado; a las fieras de la tierra y a las aves del cielo te he dado por comida. ^29:6Y sabrán todos los moradores de Egipto que soy Jehová, por cuanto fueron bordón de caña a la casa de Israel. ^29:7Cuando te tomaron con la mano, te quebraste, y les rompiste todo el hombro; y cuando se recostaron sobre ti, te quebraste, y les rompiste sus lomos enteramente’. ^29:8Por tanto, así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘He aquí que yo traigo contra ti espada, y cortaré de ti hombres y bestias. ^29:9Y la tierra de Egipto será asolada y desierta; y sabrán que soy Jehová: porque dijo, ‘Mío es mi río, y yo lo hice’. ^29:10Por tanto, he aquí yo contra ti, y contra tus ríos; y pondré a la tierra de Egipto en total desolación, en la soledad del desierto, desde Migdol hasta Sevene, hasta el término de Etiopía. ^29:11No pasará por ella pie de hombre, ni pie de bestia pasará por ella; ni será habitada por cuarenta años. ^29:12Y pondré a la tierra de Egipto en soledad entre las tierras asoladas, y sus ciudades entre las ciudades destruidas estarán asoladas por cuarenta años; y esparciré a Egipto entre las naciones, y los dispersaré por las tierras’.

^29:13Porque así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Al fin de cuarenta años juntaré a Egipto de los pueblos entre los cuales fueren esparcidos; ^29:14y volveré a traer a los cautivos de Egipto, y los volveré a la tierra de Patros, a la tierra de su origen; y allí serán un reino humilde. ^29:15En comparación de los otros reinos será humilde; nunca más se alzará sobre las naciones: porque yo los disminuiré, para que no se enseñoreen sobre las naciones. ^29:16Y no será más a la casa de Israel por confianza, que les haga recordar el pecado, mirando en pos de ellos; y sabrán que yo soy Jehová el Señor’’”.

^29:17Y aconteció en el año veintisiete, en el mes primero, al primer día del mes, que vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^29:18“‘Hijo de hombre, Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia sometió a su ejército a una ardua labor contra Tiro. Toda cabeza fue rapada, y todo hombro fue desgarrado; y ni para él ni para su ejército hubo paga de Tiro, por el servicio que prestó contra ella. ^29:19Por tanto, así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘He aquí que yo doy a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, la tierra de Egipto; y él tomará su multitud, y recogerá sus despojos, y arrebatará su presa, y habrá paga para su ejército. ^29:20Por su trabajo con que sirvió contra ella le he dado la tierra de Egipto: porque trabajaron para mí,’ dice Jehová el Señor. ^29:21‘En aquel tiempo haré reverdecer el cuerno a la casa de Israel, y abriré tu boca en medio de ellos; y sabrán que yo soy Jehová’”.

^30:1Y vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^30:2“Hijo de hombre, profetiza, y di, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Clamad, ‘¡Ay de aquel día!’ ^30:3Porque cerca está el Día, cerca está el Día del Señor; día de nublado, tiempo de las naciones será. ^30:4Y la espada vendrá a Egipto, y habrá gran dolor en Etiopía, cuando caigan los heridos en Egipto; y tomarán sus riquezas, y serán destruidos sus fundamentos. ^30:5Etiopía, y Libia, y Lidia, y todo el pueblo mezclado, y Cub, y los hijos de las tierras aliadas, caerán con ellos a espada’. ^30:6Así dice Jehová, ‘También caerán los que sostienen a Egipto, y la altivez de su poderío caerá; desde Migdol hasta Sevene caerán en él a espada,’ dice Jehová el Señor. ^30:7‘Y serán asolados entre las tierras asoladas, y sus ciudades serán entre las ciudades desiertas. ^30:8Y sabrán que soy Jehová, cuando ponga fuego a Egipto, y sean destruidos todos sus ayudadores. ^30:9En aquel tiempo saldrán mensajeros de delante de mí en navíos, para espantar a Etiopía la confiada, y tendrán espanto como en el día de Egipto: porque he aquí viene’. ^30:10Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Haré cesar la multitud de Egipto por mano de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia. ^30:11Él y con él su pueblo, los más violentos de las naciones, serán traídos para destruir la tierra; y desenvainarán sus espadas contra Egipto, y llenarán la tierra de muertos. ^30:12Y secaré los ríos, y entregaré la tierra en manos de malos, y destruiré la tierra y su plenitud por mano de extranjeros; yo Jehová he hablado’. ^30:13Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Destruiré también las imágenes, y haré cesar los ídolos de Nof; y no habrá más príncipe de la tierra de Egipto, y en la tierra de Egipto pondré temor. ^30:14Y asolaré a Patros, y pondré fuego a Zoán, y ejecutaré juicios en No. ^30:15Y derramaré mi ira sobre Sin, fortaleza de Egipto, y talaré la multitud de No. ^30:16Y pondré fuego a Egipto; Sin tendrá gran dolor, y No será destrozada, y Nof tendrá angustias todos los días. ^30:17Los jóvenes de Avén y de Pibeset caerán a espada; y ellas irán en cautiverio. ^30:18Y en Tafnes se oscurecerá el día, cuando quiebre yo el yugo de Egipto, y cesará en ella la soberbia de su poderío; una nube la cubrirá, y sus hijas irán en cautiverio. ^30:19Ejecutaré, pues, juicios en Egipto y sabrán que yo soy Jehová’”.

^30:20Y aconteció en el año undécimo, en el mes primero, a los siete del mes, que vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^30:21“Hijo de hombre, he quebrado el brazo de Faraón rey de Egipto; y he aquí que no ha sido vendado para que pueda sanar, ni le han puesto faja para ligarlo, a fin de fortalecerle para que pueda sostener la espada. ^30:22Por tanto, así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Heme aquí contra Faraón rey de Egipto, y quebraré sus brazos, el fuerte y el fracturado, y haré que la espada se le caiga de la mano. ^30:23Y esparciré a los egipcios entre las naciones, y los dispersaré por las tierras. ^30:24Y fortaleceré los brazos del rey de Babilonia, y pondré mi espada en su mano; pero quebraré los brazos de Faraón, y delante de aquél gemirá con gemidos de herido de muerte. ^30:25Fortaleceré, pues, los brazos del rey de Babilonia, y los brazos de Faraón caerán; y sabrán que soy Jehová, cuando yo ponga mi espada en la mano del rey de Babilonia, y él la extendiere contra la tierra de Egipto. ^30:26Y esparciré a los egipcios entre las naciones, y los dispersaré por las tierras; y sabrán que yo soy Jehová’”.

¶El complemento   Jehová matará al faraón rey de Egipto y a toda su multitud (31:1 - 32:32)

^31:1Y aconteció en el año undécimo, en el mes tercero, al primer día del mes, que vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^31:2“Hijo de hombre, di a Faraón rey de Egipto, y a su pueblo, ‘¿A quién te comparaste en tu grandeza? ^31:3He aquí era el asirio cedro en el Líbano, hermoso en ramas, y de frondoso ramaje y de grande altura, y su copa estaba entre densas ramas. ^31:4Las aguas lo hicieron crecer, lo encumbró el abismo; sus ríos corrían alrededor de su pie, y a todos los árboles del campo enviaba sus corrientes. ^31:5Por tanto, se encumbró su altura sobre todos los árboles del campo, y se multiplicaron sus ramas, y a causa de las muchas aguas se alargó su ramaje que había echado. ^31:6En sus ramas hacían su nido todas las aves del cielo, y debajo de su ramaje parían todas las bestias del campo, y a su sombra habitaban todas las grandes naciones. ^31:7Se hizo, pues, hermoso en su grandeza con la extensión de sus ramas: porque su raíz estaba junto a muchas aguas. ^31:8Los cedros no lo cubrieron en el huerto de Dios; las hayas no fueron semejantes a sus ramas, ni los castaños fueron semejantes a su ramaje; ningún árbol en el huerto de Dios fue semejante a él en su hermosura. ^31:9Lo hice hermoso con la multitud de sus ramas; y todos los árboles de Edén, que estaban en el huerto de Dios, tuvieron de él envidia’.

^31:10Por tanto, así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Por cuanto se encumbró en altura, y puso su cumbre entre densas ramas, y su corazón se elevó con su altura, ^31:11por eso yo lo he entregado en mano del poderoso de las naciones, que de cierto tratará con él. yo lo he desechado por su impiedad. ^31:12Y los extranjeros, los violentos de las naciones, le han cortado, y lo han abandonado. Sus ramas caerán sobre los montes y por todos los valles, y por todos los ríos de la tierra será quebrado su ramaje; y se irán de su sombra todos los pueblos de la tierra, y lo dejarán. ^31:13Sobre sus ruinas habitarán todas las aves del cielo, y sobre sus ramas estarán todas las bestias del campo, ^31:14para que no se exalten en su altura todos los árboles que están junto a las aguas, ni levanten su cumbre entre las espesuras, ni en sus ramas se paren por su altura todos los que beben aguas: porque todos son entregados a muerte, a la parte más baja de la tierra, en medio de los hijos de los hombres, con los que descienden a la Fosa’. ^31:15Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘El día que descendió a la sepultura, hice hacer luto, hice cubrir por él el abismo, y detuve sus ríos, y las muchas aguas fueron detenidas; y al Líbano cubrí de tinieblas por él, y todos los árboles del campo desmayaron por él. ^31:16Del estruendo de su caída hice temblar a las naciones, cuando les hice descender al infierno con todos los que descienden a la fosa; y todos los árboles del Edén, los escogidos y mejores del Líbano, todos los que beben aguas, fueron consolados en las partes más bajas de la tierra. ^31:17También ellos descendieron con él al infierno, con los muertos a espada, los que fueron su brazo, los que habitaron a su sombra en medio de las naciones. ^31:18¿A quién te has comparado así en gloria y en grandeza entre los árboles del Edén? Pues derribado serás con los árboles del Edén a la parte más baja de la tierra; entre los incircuncisos yacerás, con los muertos a espada. Éste es Faraón y toda su multitud,’ dice Jehová el Señor”.

^32:1Y aconteció en el año duodécimo, en el mes duodécimo, al primer día del mes, que vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^32:2“Hijo de hombre, levanta endechas sobre Faraón rey de Egipto, y dile, ‘A leoncillo de gentes eres semejante, y eres como la ballena en los mares; que secabas tus ríos, y enturbiabas las aguas con tus pies, y hollabas sus riberas’. ^32:3Así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘Yo extenderé sobre ti mi red en compañía de muchos pueblos, y te harán subir en mi red. ^32:4Y te dejaré en tierra, te arrojaré sobre la faz del campo, y haré que posen sobre ti todas las aves del cielo, y saciaré de ti a las bestias de toda la tierra. ^32:5Y pondré tus carnes sobre los montes, y llenaré los valles de tus cadáveres. ^32:6Y regaré de tu sangre la tierra donde nadas, hasta los montes; y los ríos se llenarán de ti. ^32:7Y cuando te haya extinguido, cubriré los cielos, y haré entenebrecer sus estrellas; el sol cubriré con nublado, y la luna no hará resplandecer su luz. ^32:8Haré entenebrecer todas las lumbreras del cielo por ti, y pondré tinieblas sobre tu tierra,’ dice Jehová el Señor. ^32:9‘Y entristeceré el corazón de muchos pueblos, cuando traiga tu destrucción entre las naciones, por las tierras que no conociste. ^32:10Y dejaré atónitos sobre ti a muchos pueblos, y sus reyes tendrán horror grande a causa de ti, cuando haga resplandecer mi espada delante de sus rostros, y todos se sobresaltarán en sus ánimos a cada momento en el día de tu caída’.

^32:11Porque así dice Jehová el Señor, ‘La espada del rey de Babilonia vendrá sobre ti. ^32:12Con espadas de fuertes haré caer a tu pueblo; todos serán los poderosos de las naciones; y destruirán la soberbia de Egipto, y toda su multitud será deshecha. ^32:13Todas sus bestias destruiré de sobre las muchas aguas; ni más las enturbiará pie de hombre, ni pezuña de bestias las enturbiará. ^32:14Entonces haré asentarse sus aguas, y haré que sus ríos corran como aceite,’ dice Jehová el Señor. ^32:15‘Cuando asuele la tierra de Egipto, y la tierra fuere despojada de su plenitud, cuando hiera a todos los que en ella moran, entonces sabrán que soy Jehová. ^32:16Ésta es la endecha, y la cantarán; las hijas de las naciones la cantarán: endecharán sobre Egipto, y sobre toda su multitud,’ dice Jehová el Señor”.

^32:17Y aconteció en el año duodécimo, a los quince del mes, que vino a mí Palabra de Jehová, diciendo, ^32:18“Hijo de hombre, endecha sobre la multitud de Egipto, y despéñalo a él, y a las hijas de las naciones poderosas, a las partes más bajas de la tierra, con los que descienden a la Fosa: ^32:19‘¿A quién superas en hermosura? Desciende, y yace con los incircuncisos. ^32:20Entre los muertos a espada caerán; a la espada es entregado; traedlo a él y a todos sus pueblos. ^32:21De en medio del infierno hablarán a él los fuertes de entre los poderosos, con los que le ayudaron, que descendieron y yacen con los incircuncisos muertos a espada. ^32:22Allí está Asiria con toda su gente; en derredor de él están sus sepulcros; todos ellos cayeron muertos a espada. ^32:23Sus sepulcros fueron puestos a los lados de la Fosa, y su gente está por los alrededores de su sepulcro; todos ellos cayeron muertos a espada, los cuales causaron terror en la tierra de los vivientes. ^32:24Allí está Elam, y toda su multitud por los alrededores de su sepulcro; todos ellos cayeron muertos a espada, los cuales descendieron incircuncisos a las partes más bajas de la tierra: porque causaron terror en la tierra de los vivientes, pero llevaron su confusión con los que descienden a la Fosa. ^32:25En medio de los muertos le pusieron cama con toda su multitud; a sus alrededores están sus sepulcros; todos ellos incircuncisos, muertos a espada: porque causaron terror en la tierra de los vivientes, pero llevaron su confusión con los que descienden a la fosa; él fue puesto en medio de los muertos. ^32:26Allí está Mesec, y Tubal, y toda su multitud; sus sepulcros en sus alrededores; todos ellos incircuncisos muertos a espada: porque habían causado su terror en la tierra de los vivientes. ^32:27Y no yacerán con los fuertes que cayeron de los incircuncisos, los cuales descendieron al infierno con sus armas de guerra, y pusieron sus espadas debajo de sus cabezas; pero sus pecados estarán sobre sus huesos: porque fueron terror de fuertes en la tierra de los vivientes. ^32:28Tú, pues, serás destruido entre los incircuncisos, y yacerás con los muertos a espada. ^32:29Allí está Idumea, sus reyes y todos sus príncipes, los cuales con su poderío fueron puestos con los muertos a espada; ellos yacerán con los incircuncisos, y con los que descienden a la Fosa. ^32:30Allí están los príncipes del norte, todos ellos, y todos los de Sidón, que con su terror descendieron con los muertos, avergonzados de su poderío, yacen también incircuncisos con los muertos a espada, y llevaron su confusión con los que descienden a la Fosa. ^32:31A éstos verá Faraón, y se consolará sobre toda su multitud; Faraón muerto a espada, y todo su ejército,’ dice Jehová el Señor. ^32:32‘Porque yo puse mi terror en la tierra de los vivientes, también yacerá entre los incircuncisos con los muertos a espada, Faraón y toda su multitud,’ dice Jehová el Señor”.
