^56:3“‘Neither let the son of the Gentile, that has joined himself to Jehovah, speak, saying, ‘Jehovah has utterly separated me from his people’; neither let the eunuch say, ‘Behold, I am a dry tree.’’

^56:4“For thus says Jehovah to the eunuchs that keep my Sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my Covenant: ^56:5‘Even to them will I give in my House and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters; I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.’”

^56:6“‘Also the sons of the Gentile, that join themselves to Jehovah, to serve him, and to love the Name of Jehovah, to be his servants, everyone that keeps the Sabbath from polluting it, and takes hold of my Covenant: ^56:7even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my House of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon my altar: for my House shall be called a House of prayer for all people.’

^56:8“The Lord Jehovah who gathers the outcasts of Israel says, ‘Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are already gathered to him.’”

¶Opposite   Cursed are those who depart from Jehovah (56:9 - 57:21)

^56:9“‘All you beasts of the field, come to devour; and also all you beasts in the forest. ^56:10His watchmen are blind; they are all ignorant; they are all mute dogs: they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, and loving to slumber. ^56:11Moreover, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough; and they are shepherds that cannot understand; they all look to their own way, everyone for his gain, from his quarter. ^56:12‘Come,’ say they, ‘I will bring wine, and we will fill ourselves with alcohol; and tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.’

^57:1“‘The righteous perish, and no man lays it to heart; and merciful men are taken away, no one considering that the righteous are taken away from the evil to come. ^57:2He shall enter into peace; they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.’”

^57:3“‘But draw near here, you sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the prostitute. ^57:4Against whom do you sport yourselves? Against whom do you make a wide mouth, and stick out the tongue? Are you not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood, ^57:5inflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, and murdering the children in the valleys under the clefts of the rocks? ^57:6Among the smooth stones of the stream is your portion; they, even they are your lot; even to them have you poured a drink offering, and you have offered a meal offering. Should I receive comfort in these? ^57:7Upon a lofty and high mountain have you set your bed; even there you went up to offer sacrifice. ^57:8Behind the doors also and the posts have you set up your remembrance: for you have discovered yourself to a false god rather than me, and went up; you have enlarged your bed, and made a covenant with them; you loved their bed where you saw it. ^57:9And you went to the king with ointment, and increased your perfumes, and sent your messengers far away, and debased yourself even unto Hell. ^57:10You are wearied in the greatness of your way, yet you did not say, ‘There is no hope’; you have found the life of your hand; therefore you were not grieved. ^57:11And of whom have you been afraid or feared, that you have lied, and have not remembered me, nor laid it to your heart? Have I not held my peace even of old, and you did not fear me? ^57:12I will declare your righteousness, and your works: for they shall not benefit you. ^57:13When you cry, let your companies deliver you; but the wind shall carry them all away, and vanity shall take them.

“‘But he that puts his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain; ^57:14and he shall say, ‘Cast up, cast up; prepare the way, and take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.’ ^57:15For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose Name is Holy: ‘I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. ^57:16For I will not contend forever; neither will I always be angry, because the spirit would fail before me, and the souls that I have made. ^57:17I was angry because of the iniquity of his covetousness, and smote him; I hid myself, and was angry, and he went on perversely in the way of his heart. ^57:18I have seen his ways, and will heal him; I will lead him also, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners. ^57:19I create the fruit of the lips: peace, peace to him that is far away, and to him that is near,’ says Jehovah; ‘and I will heal him.

^57:20“‘But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose water casts up mire and dirt. There is no peace,’ says my God, ‘to the wicked.’”

^58:1“‘Cry aloud; spare not; lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

^58:2“‘Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and did not forsake the Ordinance of their God; they ask of me the Ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God. ^58:3‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘but you do not see? Why have we afflicted our soul, but you do not take knowledge?’ Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and you oppress all your laborers. ^58:4Behold, you fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness. You shall not fast as you do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. ^58:5Is it such a fast as I have chosen? A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to Jehovah?

^58:6“‘Is not this rather the fast that I have chosen: to loosen the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? ^58:7Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you do not hide yourself from your own flesh? ^58:8Then shall your light break forth as the morning, your health shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you: the glory of Jehovah shall be your rear guard. ^58:9Then you shall call, and Jehovah shall answer; you shall cry, and he shall say, ‘Here I am.’’”

“‘If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the pointing of the finger, and speaking vanity; ^58:10and if you draw out your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then shall your light rise in obscurity, and your darkness shall be as the noonday; ^58:11and Jehovah shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make your bones fat; and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. ^58:12And they that shall be of you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called ‘The repairer of the breach’ and ‘The restorer of paths to dwell in.’

^58:13“‘If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of Jehovah, honorable; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, ^58:14then shall you delight yourself in Jehovah; and I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father: for the mouth of Jehovah has spoken it.’”

¶Opposite   Jehovah will repay fury to his enemies when the Redeemer comes to Zion (59:1 - 21)

^59:1“‘Behold, Jehovah's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither is his ear heavy, that it cannot hear. ^59:2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear: ^59:3for your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue has muttered perverseness. ^59:4No one calls for justice, nor contends for truth; they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. ^59:5They hatch viper's eggs, and weave the spider's web; he that eats of their eggs dies, and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper. ^59:6Their webs shall not become garments; neither shall they cover themselves with their works, because their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands. ^59:7Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. ^59:8They do not know the Way of peace, and there is no judgment in their goings; they have made themselves crooked paths: whosoever goes in them shall not know peace.’”

^59:9“Therefore judgment is far from us; neither does justice overtake us; we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness. ^59:10We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes; we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men. ^59:11We all roar like bears, and mourn bitterly like doves; we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far away from us: ^59:12for our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them: ^59:13in transgressing and lying against Jehovah, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.”

^59:14“‘And judgment has turned away backward, and justice stands far away: for truth has fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter; ^59:15moreover, truth fails; and he that departs from evil makes himself a prey. And Jehovah saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment. ^59:16And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore his arm brought salvation to him; and his righteousness, it sustained him: ^59:17for he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak. ^59:18According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, and recompense to his enemies: to the islands he will fully repay. ^59:19So shall they fear the Name of Jehovah from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun.

“‘When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of Jehovah shall lift up a standard against him. ^59:20And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and to them that turn from transgression in Jacob,’ says Jehovah.

^59:21“‘As for me, this is my Covenant with them,’ says Jehovah: ‘My Spirit that is upon you, and my words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, nor out of the mouth of your seed, nor out of the mouth of your seed's seed,’ says Jehovah, ‘from henceforth and forever.’”

¶Complement   The Jews will be blessed by the Gentiles during the Millennial Kingdom of the Messiah (60:1 - 61:9)

^60:1“Arise, shine: for your light has come, and the glory of Jehovah has risen upon you: ^60:2for, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but Jehovah shall arise upon you, and his glory shall be seen upon you. ^60:3And the Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. ^60:4Lift up your eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together; they come to you. Your sons shall come from far, and your daughters shall be nursed at your side.

^60:5“Then shall you see, and flow together; and your heart shall fear, and be enlarged, because the abundance of the sea shall be converted to you: the wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you. ^60:6The multitude of camels shall cover you, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come; they shall bring gold and incense, and they shall show forth the praises of Jehovah. ^60:7All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto you; they shall come up with acceptance on my altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.

^60:8“Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows? ^60:9Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from afar, and their silver and their gold with them, to the Name of Jehovah your God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you. ^60:10And the sons of strangers shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you: for in my wrath I smote you, but in my favor have I had mercy on you. ^60:11Therefore your gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night, that men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought: ^60:12for the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; moreover, those nations shall be utterly wasted. ^60:13The glory of Lebanon shall come to you, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box tree together, to beautify the place of my Sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious. ^60:14Also the sons of them that afflicted you shall come bending to you; and all they that despised you shall bow themselves down at the soles of your feet; and they shall call you ‘The city of Jehovah’, and ‘The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.’ ^60:15Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through you, I will make you an eternal excellence, a joy of many generations. ^60:16Also you shall suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shall suck the breast of kings; and you shall know that I Jehovah am your Savior and your Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob. ^60:17For bronze will I bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood bronze, and for stones iron. Also I will make your officers peace, and your tax collectors righteousness. ^60:18Violence shall no longer be heard in your land; neither wasting nor destruction within your borders; but you shall call your walls ‘Salvation’, and your gates ‘Praise.’ ^60:19The sun shall not be your light by day anymore; neither shall the moon give light to you for brightness; but Jehovah shall be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory. ^60:20Your sun shall not go down anymore; neither shall your moon withdraw itself, because Jehovah shall be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended. ^60:21Also your people shall be all righteous; they shall inherit the land forever; the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. ^60:22A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I Jehovah will hasten it in his time.”

^61:1“The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me, because Jehovah has anointed me to preach good news to the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted; to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; ^61:2to proclaim the acceptable Year of Jehovah, and the Day of Vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn: ^61:3to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give them beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness and the planting of Jehovah, that he might be glorified.

^61:4“And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. ^61:5And Gentiles shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. ^61:6But you shall be named the priests of Jehovah; men shall call you the ministers of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall you boast yourselves. ^61:7Instead of your shame you shall have double, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion; therefore in their land they shall possess the double; everlasting joy shall be unto them. ^61:8For I Jehovah love judgment; I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting Covenant with them. ^61:9And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people; all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which Jehovah has blessed.”

¶Complement   Jerusalem will be blessed by Jehovah during the Millennial Kingdom of the Messiah (61:10 - 62:12)

^61:10“I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah; my soul shall be joyful in my God: for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, and he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. ^61:11For as the earth brings forth her bud, and as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord Jehovah will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. ^62:1For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace; and for Jerusalem's sake, I will not rest, until its righteousness goes forth as brightness, and its salvation like a lamp that burns. ^62:2And the Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory; and you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of Jehovah shall name. ^62:3Also you shall be a crown of glory in the hand of Jehovah, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. ^62:4You shall no longer be termed ‘Forsaken’; neither shall your land anymore be termed ‘Desolate’; but you shall be called ‘Hephzi-bah’, and your land ‘Beulah’: for Jehovah delights in you, and your land shall be married. ^62:5For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.

^62:6“I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, who shall never hold their peace day nor night; you that make mention of Jehovah, do not keep silence, ^62:7and give him no rest, until he establishes, and until he makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

^62:8“Jehovah has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, ‘Surely I will no longer give your grain to be food for your enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink your wine, for which you have labored; ^62:9but they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise Jehovah; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.”

^62:10“Go through, go through the gates; prepare the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highways; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.

^62:11“Behold, Jehovah has proclaimed to the end of the world, ‘Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your salvation is coming; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.’’ ^62:12And they shall call them ‘The Holy People’; ‘The Redeemed of Jehovah’; and you shall be called, ‘Sought out’; and ‘A city not forsaken.’”

¶Unique   The Messiah will judge the nations (63:1 - 64:12)

^63:1“Who is this that comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? This One that is glorious in his apparel, traveling in the greatness of his strength?” “I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”

^63:2“Why are you red in your apparel, and your garments like him that treads in the winefat?” ^63:3“I have trampled the winepress alone; and of the people there was no one with me: for I will tread them in my anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my clothing: ^63:4for the Day of Vengeance is in my heart; and the Year of my Redeemed has come. ^63:5And I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold; therefore my own arm brought salvation to me; and my fury, it upheld me. ^63:6And I will tread down the people in my anger, and make them drunk in my fury; and I will bring down their strength to the earth.”

^63:7“I will mention the loving-kindnesses of Jehovah, and the praises of Jehovah, according to all that Jehovah has bestowed on us; and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses: ^63:8for he said, “Surely they are my people, children that will not lie”, so he was their Savior. ^63:9In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he took them up, and carried them all the days of old. ^63:10But they rebelled, and vexed his Holy Spirit; therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them. ^63:11Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, “Where is he that brought them up out of the Red Sea with the shepherd of his flock? Where is he that put his Holy Spirit within him? ^63:12That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting Name? ^63:13That led them through the deep, as a horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?” ^63:14As a beast goes down into the valley, the Spirit of Jehovah caused him to rest. So you led your people, to make yourself a glorious Name.

^63:15“Look down from Heaven, and behold from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory. Where is your zeal and your strength, the sounding of your bowels and of your mercies toward me? Are they restrained? ^63:16Doubtless you are our father, though Abraham is ignorant of us, and Israel does not acknowledge us; you, O Jehovah, are our Father, and our Redeemer: your Name is from everlasting. ^63:17O Jehovah, why have you made us to go astray from your ways, and hardened our heart from your fear? Return for your servants' sake, the tribes of your inheritance. ^63:18The people of your holiness have possessed it but a little while; our adversaries have trampled down your Sanctuary. ^63:19We are yours; but you never bore rule over them; they were not called by your Name. ^64:1Oh that you would tear the heavens, that you would come down, that the mountains might flow down at your presence, ^64:2as when the melting fire burns and the fire causes the water to boil, to make your Name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence! ^64:3When you did dreadful things that we did not look for, you came down, and the mountains flowed down at your presence: ^64:4for since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear; neither has the eye seen, O God, other than you, what he has prepared for him that waits for him. ^64:5You meet him that rejoices and works righteousness, those that remember you in your ways.

“Behold, you are angry: for we have sinned; in those is continuance, and we shall be saved. ^64:6But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteous works are like filthy rags; and we all fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. ^64:7And there is no one that calls upon your Name, that stirs himself up to take hold of you: for you have hidden your face from us, and have consumed us, because of our iniquities. ^64:8But now, O Jehovah, you are our father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and we are all the work of your hand. ^64:9Do not be greatly angry, O Jehovah; neither remember iniquity forever; please, behold and see, we are all your people. ^64:10Your holy cities are a wilderness; Zion is a wilderness, and Jerusalem a desolation. ^64:11Our holy and beautiful House, where our fathers praised you, is burned up with fire; and all our pleasant things are laid waste. Will you refrain yourself for these things, O Jehovah? Will you hold your peace, and afflict us very sore?”

^65:1“‘I am sought by them that did not ask for me; I am found by them that did not seek me. I said, ‘Behold me, behold me’ to a nation that was not called by my Name. ^65:2I have spread out my hands all day long to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts; ^65:3a people that continually provoke me to anger to my face, that sacrifice in gardens, and burn incense upon altars of brick; ^65:4who remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments; who eat swine's flesh; and broth of abominable things is in their vessels; ^65:5who say, ‘Stand by yourself; do not come near to me: for I am holier than you.’ These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all day long. ^65:6Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will repay, even repay into their bosom ^65:7your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together,’ says Jehovah, ‘who have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills; therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.’

^65:8“Thus says Jehovah: ‘As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one says, ‘Destroy it not: for a blessing is in it’: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all. ^65:9And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains; and my elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there. ^65:10And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me.’”

^65:11“‘But you are they that forsake Jehovah, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that god called ‘Luck’, and that furnish the drink offering to that god called ‘Fate.’ ^65:12Therefore will I number you to the sword, and you shall all bow down to the slaughter, because when I called, you did not answer; when I spoke, you did not listen, but did evil before my eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.’ ^65:13Therefore, thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, my servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, but you shall be ashamed; ^65:14behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but you shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit. ^65:15And you shall leave your name for a curse to my chosen, because the Lord Jehovah shall slay you, and call his servants by another name, ^65:16so that he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth.

“‘For the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hidden from my eyes: ^65:17for, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. ^65:18But be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. ^65:19And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and the voice of weeping shall not be heard anymore in her, nor the voice of crying. ^65:20There shall not be there anymore an infant of days, nor an old man that has not filled his days: for the child shall die a hundred years old; but the sinner being a hundred years old shall be accursed. ^65:21And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. ^65:22They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree shall be the days of my people, and my elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. ^65:23They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for trouble: for they are the seed of the blessed of Jehovah, and their offspring with them.

^65:24“‘And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear. ^65:25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bull; and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain,’ says Jehovah.”

¶Complement   Jehovah shall consume iniquity and sinners out of the Earth (66:1 - 24)

^66:1“Thus says Jehovah: ‘The Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the House that you build to me? And where is the place of my rest? ^66:2For all those things has my hand made; and all those things have been,’ says Jehovah. ‘But to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit; and trembles at my Word.

^66:3“He that kills an ox is as if he slew a man. He that sacrifices a lamb, is as if he cut off a dog's neck. He that offers an offering, is as if he offered swine's blood. He that burns incense, is as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways; and their soul delights in their abominations. ^66:4Therefore I also will choose their delusions; and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, no one answered; when I spoke, they did not listen, but they did evil before my eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.’”

^66:5“Hear the Word of Jehovah, you that tremble at his Word: ‘Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my Name's sake, said, ‘Let Jehovah be glorified’; but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. ^66:6A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the Temple, a voice of Jehovah that renders recompense to his enemies. ^66:7Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. ^66:8Who has heard of such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. ^66:9Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth?’ says Jehovah. ‘Shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb?’ says your God. ^66:10‘Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you that love her; rejoice for joy with her, all you that mourn for her, ^66:11that you may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that you may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.’ ^66:12For thus says Jehovah: ‘Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream. Then you shall nurse; you shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. ^66:13As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

^66:14“‘And when you see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb; and the hand of Jehovah shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies. ^66:15For, behold, Jehovah will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire: ^66:16for by fire and by his sword will Jehovah contend with all flesh; and the slain of Jehovah shall be many. ^66:17They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together,’ says Jehovah: ^66:18‘for I know their works and their thoughts.

“‘It shall come to pass, that I will gather all nations and languages; and they shall come, and see my glory. ^66:19And I will set a sign among them; and I will send those that escape of them to the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud (that draw the bow); to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles far away, that have not heard my fame; neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. ^66:20And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering to Jehovah out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem,’ says Jehovah, ‘as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the House of Jehovah. ^66:21And I will also take some of them for priests and for Levites,’ says Jehovah. ^66:22‘For as the New Heavens and the New Earth, which I will make, shall remain before me,’ says Jehovah, ‘so shall your seed and your name remain. ^66:23And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me,’ says Jehovah. ^66:24‘And they shall go forth, and look upon the corpses of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die; neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.’”

^56:3“‘Ni deje que el hijo del extranjero, que se ha adherido a Jehová, hable, diciendo, ‘Jehová me apartó totalmente de su pueblo’. Ni diga el eunuco, ‘He aquí yo soy árbol seco’’.

^56:4“Porque así dice Jehová a los eunucos que guardaren mis Sábados, y escogieren las cosas que me complacen, y abrazaren mi Pacto: ^56:5‘Incluso para ellos, yo les daré lugar en mi casa y dentro de mis muros, y nombre mejor que el de hijos e hijas; nombre perpetuo les daré que nunca perecerá’”.

^56:6“‘También los hijos del gentil que se adhirieren a Jehová para servirle, y que amaren el Nombre de Jehová para ser sus siervos; a todos los que guardaren el sábado de profanarlo, y abrazaren mi Pacto, ^56:7incluso ellos yo los llevaré a mi santo monte, y haré que se regocijen en mi Casa de oración. Sus holocaustos y sus sacrificios serán aceptos sobre mi altar: porque mi Casa será llamada Casa de oración para todo el pueblo’.

^56:8“Dice el Señor Jehová, el que reúne a los dispersos de Israel, ‘Aun reuniré otros a él; además de los que están a él congregados’”.

^57:1“‘Perece el justo, y no hay quien lo ponga en su corazón; y los piadosos son quitados, y no hay quien entienda que de delante de la aflicción es quitado el justo. ^57:2Entrará en la paz; descansarán en sus lechos, cada uno andan en su rectitud’”.

^57:3“‘Pero ustedes llegaos acá, hijos de la agorera, generación del adúltero y de la ramera. ^57:4¿De quién os habéis mofado? ¿Contra quién ensanchasteis la boca, y alargasteis la lengua? ¿No sois ustedes hijos rebeldes, simiente mentirosa, ^57:5que os enardecéis con los ídolos debajo de todo árbol frondoso, que sacrificáis los hijos en los valles, debajo de los peñascos? ^57:6En las piedras lisas del valle está tu parte; ellas, ellas son tu suerte; y a ellas derramaste libación, y ofreciste presente. ¿No me he de vengar de estas cosas? ^57:7Sobre el monte alto y empinado pusiste tu cama; allí también subiste a hacer sacrificio. ^57:8Y tras la puerta y el umbral pusiste tu recuerdo: porque a otro, y no a mí, te descubriste, y subiste y ensanchaste tu cama, e hiciste pacto con ellos; amaste su cama dondequiera que la veías. ^57:9Y fuiste al rey con ungüento, y multiplicaste tus perfumes, y enviaste tus embajadores lejos, y te abatiste hasta el mismo infierno. ^57:10En la multitud de tus caminos te cansaste, pero no dijiste, ‘No hay esperanza’. Hallaste la vida de tu mano, por tanto no te desalentaste. ^57:11¿Y de quién te asustaste o temiste, que has faltado a la fe y no te has acordado de mí, ni lo pusiste en tu corazón? ^57:12¿No he guardado silencio desde tiempos antiguos, y nunca me has temido? Yo publicaré tu justicia y tus obras, que no te aprovecharán. ^57:13Cuando clames, que te libren tus allegados; pero a todos ellos llevará el viento, un soplo los arrebatará.

“‘Pero el que en mí espera, tendrá la tierra por heredad, y poseerá mi santo monte. ^57:14Y dirá, ‘Allanad, allanad; preparad el camino, quitad los tropiezos del camino de mi pueblo’. ^57:15Porque así dice el Alto y Sublime, el que habita la eternidad, y cuyo Nombre es el Santo, ‘Yo habito en la altura y la santidad, y con el quebrantado y humilde de espíritu, para hacer vivir el espíritu de los humildes, y para vivificar el corazón de los quebrantados: ^57:16porque no contenderé para siempre, ni para siempre guardaré el enojo; pues decaería ante mí el espíritu, y las almas que yo he creado. ^57:17Por la iniquidad de su codicia me enojé y lo herí, escondí mi rostro y me indigné; y él siguió rebelde por el camino de su corazón. ^57:18He visto sus caminos, y lo sanaré; y lo guiaré y le daré consuelo a él y a sus enlutados. ^57:19Yo creo el fruto de labios: paz, paz al que está lejos y al que está cerca,’ dice Jehová; ‘y lo sanaré.

^57:20“‘Pero los malvados son como el mar agitado, que no puede estarse quieto, y sus aguas arrojan cieno y lodo. ^57:21No hay paz,’ dice mi Dios, ‘al malvado’.

^58:2“‘Sin embargo me buscan cada día, y quieren saber mis caminos, como gente que hubiese obrado justicia, y que no hubiese dejado la Ley de su Dios; me piden justos Juicios, y quieren acercarse a Dios ^58:3Dicen, ‘¿Por qué ayunamos, y tú no lo ves? ¿Por qué humillamos nuestras almas, y tú no te das por entendido?’ He aquí, en el día de vuestro ayuno halláis placer, y oprimís a todos vuestros obreros. ^58:4He aquí que para contiendas y debates ayunáis, y para herir con el puño inicuamente; no ayunéis como hoy, para que vuestra voz sea oída en lo alto. ^58:5¿Es tal el ayuno que yo escogí, que de día aflija el hombre su alma, que encorve su cabeza como junco, y haga cama de cilicio y de ceniza? ¿Llamaréis a esto ayuno y día agradable a Jehová?

^58:6“‘¿No es más bien el ayuno que yo escogí, desatar las ligaduras de impiedad, quitar las pesadas cargas, y dejar ir libres a los quebrantados, y que rompáis todo yugo? ^58:7¿No es que compartas tu pan con el hambriento, y a los pobres errantes metas en casa; que cuando vieres al desnudo, lo cubras, y no te escondas de tu propia carne? ^58:8Entonces nacerá tu luz como el alba, y tu sanidad se dejará ver pronto; e irá tu justicia delante de ti, y la gloria de Jehová será tu retaguardia. ^58:9Entonces invocarás, y te oirá Jehová; clamarás, y dirá él, ‘Heme aquí’’”.

“‘Si quitares de en medio de ti el yugo, el extender el dedo, y hablar vanidad; ^58:10y si derramares tu alma al hambriento, y saciares al alma afligida, en las tinieblas nacerá tu luz, y tu oscuridad será como el mediodía. ^58:11Y Jehová te pastoreará siempre, y en las sequías saciará tu alma, y engordará tus huesos; y serás como huerto de riego, y como manantial de aguas, cuyas aguas nunca faltan. ^58:12Y los tuyos edificarán las ruinas antiguas; los cimientos de generación y generación levantarás; y serás llamado ‘Reparador de portillos’, y ‘Restaurador de calzadas para habitar’.

^58:13“‘Si retrajeres del sábado tu pie, de hacer tu voluntad en mi día santo, y al sábado llamares delicias, santo, glorioso de Jehová; y lo honrares, no andando en tus propios caminos, ni buscando tu voluntad, ni hablando tus propias palabras; ^58:14entonces te deleitarás en Jehová; y yo te haré subir sobre las alturas de la tierra, y te daré a comer la heredad de Jacob tu padre: porque la boca de Jehová lo ha hablado’”.

¶Lo opuesto   Jehová pagará furia a sus enemigos cuando el Redentor venga a Sion (59:1 - 21)

^59:1“‘He aquí la mano de Jehová no se ha acortado, que no puede salvar, ni es agravado su oído, que no puede oír; ^59:2pero vuestras iniquidades han hecho división entre ustedes y vuestro Dios, y vuestros pecados han hecho ocultar su rostro de ustedes, para no oír: ^59:3porque vuestras manos están contaminadas de sangre, y vuestros dedos de iniquidad; vuestros labios pronuncian mentira, habla maldad vuestra lengua. ^59:4No hay quien clame por la justicia, ni quien juzgue por la verdad; confían en vanidad, y hablan vanidades; conciben trabajo, y dan a luz iniquidad. ^59:5Ponen huevos de áspides, y tejen telas de arañas; el que comiere de sus huevos, morirá; y si los apretaren, saldrán víboras. ^59:6Sus telas no servirán para vestir, ni de sus obras serán cubiertos; sus obras son obras de iniquidad, y obra de rapiña está en sus manos. ^59:7Sus pies corren al mal, y se apresuran para derramar la sangre inocente; sus pensamientos, son pensamientos de iniquidad, destrucción y quebrantamiento hay en sus caminos. ^59:8No conocen camino de paz, ni hay derecho en sus caminos; sus veredas son torcidas; cualquiera que por ellas fuere, no conocerá paz’”.

^59:9“Por esto se alejó de nosotros el juicio, y no nos alcanzó justicia; esperamos luz, y he aquí tinieblas; resplandor, y andamos en oscuridad. ^59:10Palpamos la pared como ciegos, y andamos a tientas como sin ojos; tropezamos a mediodía como de noche; estamos en lugares oscuros como muertos. ^59:11Gruñimos como osos todos nosotros, y gemimos lastimeramente como palomas; esperamos juicio, y no lo hay; salvación, pero está lejos de nosotros: ^59:12porque nuestras rebeliones se han multiplicado delante de ti, y nuestros pecados han atestiguado contra nosotros: porque con nosotros están nuestras iniquidades, y conocemos nuestros pecados; ^59:13el prevaricar y mentir contra Jehová, y apartarse de en pos de nuestro Dios; el hablar calumnia y rebelión, concebir y proferir de corazón palabras de mentira”.

^59:14“‘Y el derecho se retiró, y la justicia se puso lejos: porque la verdad tropezó en la plaza, y la equidad no pudo entrar. ^59:15Y la verdad fue detenida; y el que se aparta del mal se convierte en presa. Y lo vio Jehová, y desagradó a sus ojos: porque pereció el derecho. ^59:16Y vio que no había hombre, y se maravilló que no hubiera intercesor; por tanto su propio brazo le trajo salvación, y le afirmó su misma justicia. ^59:17Pues de justicia se vistió como de coraza, con yelmo de salvación en su cabeza; y se puso las ropas de venganza por vestidura, y se cubrió de celo como de manto. ^59:18De acuerdo a sus hechos, así él retribuirá; ira a sus enemigos, pago a sus adversarios. Él dará su retribución a las islas. ^59:19Y temerán desde el occidente el Nombre de Jehová, y desde el nacimiento del sol su gloria.

“‘Cuándo vendrá el enemigo como río, el Espíritu de Jehová levantará bandera contra él. ^59:20Y vendrá el Redentor a Sión, y a los que se volvieren de la iniquidad en Jacob,’ dice Jehová.

^59:21“‘En cuanto a mí, este es mi Pacto con ellos,’ dice Jehová, ‘Mi Espíritu que está sobre ti, y mis palabras que he puesto en tu boca, no faltarán de tu boca, ni de la boca de tus hijos,’ dice Jehová, ‘ni de la boca de los hijos de tus hijos, desde ahora y para siempre’”.

¶El complemento   Los judíos serán bendecidos por los gentiles durante el Reino milenario del Mesías (60:1 - 61:9)

^60:1“Levántate, resplandece; que ha venido tu luz, y la gloria de Jehová ha nacido sobre ti: ^60:2porque he aquí que tinieblas cubrirán la tierra, y oscuridad los pueblos; pero sobre ti amanecerá Jehová, y sobre ti será vista su gloria. ^60:3Y andarán los gentiles a tu luz, y los reyes al resplandor de tu nacimiento. ^60:4Alza tus ojos en derredor, y mira; todos éstos se han juntado, vinieron a ti; tus hijos vendrán de lejos, y tus hijas junto a ti serán criadas.

^60:5“Entonces verás y resplandecerás; y se maravillará y ensanchará tu corazón: porque se convertirá a ti la multitud del mar, y las fuerzas de los gentiles vendrán a ti. ^60:6Multitud de camellos te cubrirá, dromedarios de Madián y de Efa; vendrán todos los de Seba; traerán oro e incienso, y publicarán alabanzas de Jehová. ^60:7Todo el ganado de Cedar será juntado para ti; carneros de Nebaiot te serán servidos; serán ofrecidos con agrado sobre mi altar, y glorificaré la casa de mi gloria.

^60:8“¿Quiénes son éstos que vuelan como nubes, y como palomas a sus ventanas? ^60:9Ciertamente a mí esperarán las islas, y las naves de Tarsis desde el principio, para traer tus hijos de lejos, su plata y su oro con ellos, al Nombre de Jehová tu Dios, y al Santo de Israel, que te ha glorificado. ^60:10Y los hijos de los extranjeros edificarán tus muros, y sus reyes te servirán: porque en mi ira te herí, pero en mi buena voluntad te tuve misericordia. ^60:11Tus puertas estarán de continuo abiertas, no se cerrarán de día ni de noche, para que sean traídas a ti las riquezas de los gentiles, y conducidos a ti sus reyes: ^60:12porque la nación o el reino que no te sirviere, perecerá; y esas naciones del todo serán asoladas. ^60:13La gloria del Líbano vendrá a ti, abetos, pinos y cedros juntamente, para decorar el lugar de mi Santuario; y yo honraré el lugar de mis pies. ^60:14Y vendrán a ti humillados los hijos de los que te afligieron, y se postrarán a las plantas de tus pies todos los que te escarnecían, y te llamarán ‘Ciudad de Jehová’, ‘Sión del Santo de Israel’. ^60:15Aunque fuiste abandonada y aborrecida, tanto que nadie por ti pasaba, yo haré de ti gloria perpetua, gozo de generación y generación. ^60:16Y mamarás la leche de los gentiles, el pecho de los reyes mamarás; y conocerás que yo Jehová soy tu Salvador, y tu Redentor, el Fuerte de Jacob. ^60:17En vez de bronce traeré oro, y por hierro plata, y por madera bronce, y en lugar de piedras hierro. Y pondré paz por tu tributo, y justicia por tus exactores. ^60:18Nunca más se oirá en tu tierra violencia, destrucción ni quebrantamiento en tus términos; sino que a tus muros llamarás ‘Salvación’, y a tus puertas ‘Alabanza’. ^60:19El sol nunca más te servirá de luz para el día, ni el resplandor de la luna te alumbrará; sino que Jehová te será por luz perpetua, y el Dios tuyo por tu gloria. ^60:20No se pondrá jamás tu sol, ni menguará tu luna: porque te será Jehová por luz perpetua, y los días de tu luto se acabarán. ^60:21Y tu pueblo, todos serán justos, para siempre heredarán la tierra; renuevos de mi plantío, obra de mis manos, para glorificarme. ^60:22El pequeño vendrá a ser mil, el menor, una nación fuerte. yo Jehová, a su tiempo lo apresuraré”.

^61:1“El Espíritu de Jehová el Señor está sobre mí: porque me ha ungido Jehová; me ha enviado a predicar buenas nuevas a los abatidos, a vendar a los quebrantados de corazón, a publicar libertad a los cautivos, y a los presos apertura de la cárcel; ^61:2a proclamar el año de la buena voluntad de Jehová, y Día de Venganza del Dios nuestro; a consolar a todos los enlutados; ^61:3para ordenar a los que hacen duelo en Sión, para darles gloria en lugar de ceniza, óleo de gozo en lugar del luto, manto de alegría en lugar de espíritu angustiado; y serán llamados árboles de justicia, plantío de Jehová, para que él sea glorificado.

^61:4“Y reedificarán los desiertos antiguos, y levantarán los asolamientos primeros, y restaurarán las ciudades arruinadas, los asolamientos de muchas generaciones. ^61:5Los extranjeros se levantarán y apacentarán vuestras ovejas, y los hijos de los extranjeros serán vuestros labradores y vuestros viñadores. ^61:6Y ustedes seréis llamados sacerdotes de Jehová, ministros del Dios nuestro seréis llamados; comeréis la riqueza de los gentiles, y con su gloria seréis exaltados. ^61:7En lugar de vuestra doble confusión, y de vuestra deshonra, os alabarán en sus heredades; por lo cual en sus tierras poseerán el doble, y tendrán perpetuo gozo: ^61:8porque yo Jehová amo el derecho, y aborrezco el latrocinio para holocausto; por tanto, afirmaré en verdad su obra, y haré con ellos un Pacto eterno. ^61:9Y la simiente de ellos será conocida entre los gentiles, y sus renuevos en medio de los pueblos; todos los que los vieren, reconocerán, que son simiente que Jehová ha bendecido”.

¶El complemento   Jerusalén será bendecida por Jehová durante el Reino milenario del Mesías (61:10 - 62:12)

^61:10“En gran manera me gozaré en Jehová, mi alma se alegrará en mi Dios: porque me vistió con ropas de salvación, me rodeó de manto de justicia, como a novio me atavió, y como a novia adornada con sus joyas: ^61:11porque como la tierra produce su renuevo, y como el huerto hace brotar lo sembrado en él, así Jehová el Señor hará brotar justicia y alabanza delante de todas las naciones. ^62:1Por amor de Sión no callaré, y por amor de Jerusalén no he de parar, hasta que salga como resplandor su justicia, y su salvación se encienda como una antorcha. ^62:2Entonces los gentiles verán tu justicia, y todos los reyes tu gloria; y te será puesto un nombre nuevo, que la boca de Jehová nombrará. ^62:3Y serás corona de gloria en la mano de Jehová, y diadema real en la mano de tu Dios. ^62:4Nunca más te llamarán ‘Desamparada’, ni tu tierra se dirá más ‘Desolada’; sino que serás llamada ‘Hefziba’, y tu tierra, ‘Beula’: porque el amor de Jehová será en ti, y tu tierra será desposada. ^62:5Pues como el joven se casa con la virgen, se casarán contigo tus hijos; y como el gozo del esposo con la esposa, así tu Dios se gozará contigo.

^62:6“Sobre tus muros, oh Jerusalén, he puesto guardas; todo el día y toda la noche no callarán jamás. Los que os acordáis de Jehová, no descanséis, ^62:7ni le deis tregua, hasta que él establezca y ponga a Jerusalén por alabanza en la tierra.

^62:8“Juró Jehová por su mano derecha, y por el brazo de su poder, ‘Nunca más daré tu trigo por comida a tus enemigos, ni beberán los extraños el vino por el que tú trabajaste. ^62:9Pero los que lo cosecharon lo comerán, y alabarán a Jehová; y los que lo vendimiaron, lo beberán en los atrios de mi santuario”.

^62:10“Pasad, pasad por las puertas; preparad el camino al pueblo; allanad, allanad la calzada, quitad las piedras, alzad pendón a los pueblos.

^62:11“He aquí que Jehová hizo oír hasta lo último de la tierra, ‘Decid a la hija de Sión, ‘He aquí viene tu Salvador; he aquí su recompensa con él, y delante de él su obra’’. ^62:12Y les llamarán ‘Pueblo Santo’, ‘Redimidos de Jehová’; y a ti te llamarán ‘Ciudad Deseada’, ‘No desamparada’”.

¶Único   El Mesías juzgará a las naciones (63:1 - 64:12)

^63:1“¿Quién es éste que viene de Edom, con vestiduras rojas de Bosra? ¿Éste que es hermoso en su vestir, que marcha en la grandeza de su poder?”. “Yo, el que hablo en justicia, poderoso para salvar”.

^63:2“¿Por qué es roja tu vestidura, y tus ropas como del que ha pisado en lagar?”. ^63:3“He pisado el lagar yo solo, y de los pueblos nadie fue conmigo; los pisé con mi ira, y los hollé con mi furor; y su sangre salpicó mis vestiduras, y manché todo mi ropaje: ^63:4porque el Día de la Venganza está en mi corazón, y el Año de mis Redimidos ha llegado. ^63:5Y miré y no había quien ayudara, y me maravillé que no hubiera quien sustentase; y me salvó mi brazo, y me sostuvo mi ira. ^63:6Y con mi ira hollaré los pueblos, y los embriagaré en mi furor, y derribaré a tierra su fortaleza”.

^63:7“De las misericordias de Jehová haré mención, de las alabanzas de Jehová, conforme a todo lo que Jehová nos ha dado, y de la grandeza de su bondad hacia la casa de Israel, que les ha hecho según sus misericordias, y según la multitud de sus piedades: ^63:8porque dijo, “Ciertamente mi pueblo son, hijos que no mienten”; y fue su Salvador. ^63:9En toda angustia de ellos él fue angustiado, y el Ángel de su faz los salvó; en su amor y en su clemencia los redimió, y los trajo, y los levantó todos los días de la antigüedad. ^63:10Pero fueron rebeldes, e hicieron enojar su Santo Espíritu; por lo cual se les volvió enemigo, y él mismo peleó contra ellos. ^63:11Entonces se acordó de los días antiguos, de Moisés y de su pueblo, diciendo, “¿Dónde está el que les hizo subir del mar con el pastor de su rebaño? ¿Dónde está el que puso en medio de él su Santo Espíritu? ^63:12¿El que los guió por la diestra de Moisés con el brazo de su gloria; el que dividió las aguas delante de ellos, haciéndose así Nombre perpetuo? ^63:13¿El que los condujo por los abismos, como un caballo por el desierto, sin que tropezaran?”. ^63:14El Espíritu de Jehová los pastoreó, como a una bestia que desciende al valle; así pastoreaste a tu pueblo, para hacerte un Nombre glorioso.

^63:15“Mira desde el Cielo, y contempla desde la morada de tu santidad y de tu gloria. ¿Dónde está tu celo, y tu fortaleza, la conmoción de tus entrañas y de tus misericordias para conmigo? ¿Se han estrechado? ^63:16Pero tú eres nuestro Padre, si bien Abraham nos ignora, e Israel no nos conoce; tú, oh Jehová, eres nuestro Padre; nuestro Redentor, perpetuo es tu Nombre. ^63:17¿Por qué, oh Jehová, nos has hecho errar de tus caminos, y endureciste nuestro corazón a tu temor? Vuélvete por amor de tus siervos, por las tribus de tu heredad. ^63:18Por poco tiempo lo poseyó tu santo pueblo; nuestros enemigos han hollado tu Santuario. ^63:19Nosotros somos tuyos. Tú nunca señoreaste sobre ellos, ellos nunca fueron llamados por tu Nombre. ^64:1¡Oh si rompiese los cielos, y descendieras, y a tu presencia se escurriesen los montes, ^64:2como fuego abrasador de fundiciones, fuego que hace hervir las aguas, para que hicieras notorio tu Nombre a tus enemigos, y las naciones temblasen a tu presencia! ^64:3Cuando hiciste cosas terribles, cuales nunca esperábamos, y descendiste, se deslizaron los montes ante tu presencia: ^64:4porque desde el principio del mundo no se ha escuchado, ni oído ha percibido, ni ojo ha visto a Dios fuera de ti, que hiciese por el que en él espera. ^64:5Saliste al encuentro del que con alegría hacía justicia, de los que se acordaban de ti en tus caminos.

“He aquí, tú te enojaste cuando pecamos, en ellos hay perpetuidad, y seremos salvos. ^64:6Si bien todos nosotros somos como suciedad, y todas nuestras justicias como trapo de inmundicia; y caímos todos nosotros como la hoja, y nuestras maldades nos llevaron como viento. ^64:7Y nadie hay que invoque tu Nombre, que se despierte para asirse de ti; por lo cual escondiste de nosotros tu rostro, y nos dejaste marchitar en poder de nuestras maldades. ^64:8Ahora pues, Jehová, tú eres nuestro Padre; nosotros barro, y tú el que nos formaste; así que obra de tus manos somos todos nosotros. ^64:9No te enojes sobremanera, oh Jehová, ni tengas perpetua memoria de la iniquidad; he aquí mira ahora, pueblo tuyo somos todos nosotros. ^64:10Tus santas ciudades están desiertas, Sión es un desierto, Jerusalén una soledad. ^64:11La casa de nuestro Santuario y de nuestra gloria, en la cual te alabaron nuestros padres, fue consumida al fuego; y todas nuestras cosas preciosas han sido destruidas. ^64:12¿Te estarás quieto, oh Jehová, sobre estas cosas? ¿Callarás, y nos afligirás sobremanera?”.

§Único   Conclusión: El estado final (65:1 - 66:24)

¶El complemento   Jehová creará un nuevo cielo y una nueva tierra (65:1 - 25)

^65:1“‘Yo soy buscado de los que no preguntaban por mí; fui hallado de los que no me buscaban. Dije a gente que no invocaba mi Nombre, ‘Heme aquí, heme aquí’. ^65:2Extendí mis manos todo el día a un pueblo rebelde, el cual anda por camino no bueno, en pos de sus pensamientos; ^65:3pueblo que en mi cara me provoca de continuo a ira, sacrificando en huertos, y ofreciendo perfume sobre ladrillos; ^65:4que se quedan en los sepulcros, y en lugares escondidos pasan la noche; que comen carne de puerco, y en sus ollas hay caldo de cosas inmundas; ^65:5que dicen, ‘Estate en tu lugar, no te acerques a mí: porque soy más santo que tú’. Éstos son humo en mi furor, fuego que arde todo el día. ^65:6He aquí que escrito está delante de mí; no callaré, antes retornaré, y daré el pago en su seno, ^65:7por vuestras iniquidades, y las iniquidades de vuestros padres juntamente,’ dice Jehová, ‘los cuales quemaron incienso sobre los montes, y sobre los collados me afrentaron; por tanto, yo les mediré su obra antigua en su seno’.

^65:8“Así dice Jehová, ‘Como si alguno hallase mosto en un racimo, y dijese, ‘No lo desperdicies: porque bendición hay en él’; así haré yo por mis siervos, que no lo destruiré todo. ^65:9Pero sacaré simiente de Jacob, y de Judá heredero de mis montes; y mis escogidos poseerán por heredad la tierra, y mis siervos habitarán allí. ^65:10Y será Sarón para habitación de ovejas, y el valle de Acor para majada de vacas, para mi pueblo que me buscó’”.

^65:11“‘Pero ustedes los que dejáis a Jehová, que olvidáis mi santo monte, que ponéis mesa para la ‘Fortuna’, y suministráis libaciones para el ‘Destino’; ^65:12yo también os destinaré a la espada, y todos ustedes os arrodillaréis al degolladero; por cuanto llamé, y no respondisteis; hablé, y no oísteis; sino que hicisteis lo malo delante de mis ojos, y escogisteis lo que no me agrada’. ^65:13Por tanto así dice el Señor Jehová, ‘He aquí que mis siervos comerán, y ustedes tendréis hambre; he aquí que mis siervos beberán, y ustedes tendréis sed; he aquí que mis siervos se alegrarán, y ustedes seréis avergonzados; ^65:14he aquí que mis siervos cantarán por el júbilo del corazón, y ustedes clamaréis por el dolor del corazón, y por el quebrantamiento de espíritu aullaréis. ^65:15Y dejaréis vuestro nombre por maldición a mis escogidos, y el Señor Jehová te matará; y a sus siervos llamará por otro nombre. ^65:16El que se bendijere en la tierra, en el Dios de verdad se bendecirá; y el que jurare en la tierra, por el Dios de verdad jurará.

“‘Porque las angustias primeras serán olvidadas, y estarán ocultos desde mis ojos: ^65:17porque, he aquí, que yo creo nuevos cielos y nueva tierra; y de lo primero no habrá memoria, ni más vendrá al pensamiento. ^65:18Pero os gozaréis y os alegraréis para siempre en las cosas que yo he creado: porque he aquí que yo he creado alegría para Jerusalén, y gozo para su pueblo. ^65:19Y me alegraré con Jerusalén, y me gozaré con mi pueblo; y nunca más se oirán en ella voz de lloro, ni voz de clamor. ^65:20No habrá más allí niño que muera de días, ni viejo que sus días no cumpla: porque el niño morirá de cien años, y el pecador de cien años, será maldito. ^65:21Y edificarán casas, y morarán en ellas; plantarán viñas, y comerán el fruto de ellas. ^65:22No edificarán, y otro morará; no plantarán, y otro comerá: porque según los días de los árboles serán los días de mi pueblo, y mis escogidos disfrutarán por largo tiempo la obra de sus manos. ^65:23No trabajarán en vano, ni darán a luz para maldición: porque son simiente de los benditos de Jehová, y sus descendientes con ellos.

^65:24“‘Y sucederá que antes de que ellos clamen, responderé yo; y mientras aún estén hablando, yo habré oído. ^65:25El lobo y el cordero pacerán juntos, y el león comerá paja como el buey; y el polvo será el alimento de la serpiente. No afligirán, ni harán mal en todo mi santo monte,’ dice Jehová”.

¶El complemento   Jehová consumirá la iniquidad y los pecadores fuera de la tierra (66:1 - 24)

^66:1“Así dice Jehová: ‘El Cielo es mi trono, y la tierra el estrado de mis pies; ¿dónde está la casa que me habréis de edificar, y dónde está el lugar de mi reposo? ^66:2Porque mi mano ha hecho todas esas cosas; y así todas estas cosas fueron,’ dice Jehová; ‘Pero a este hombre miraré, incluso al que es pobre y contrito de espíritu; y tiembla ante mi Palabra.

^66:3“‘El que sacrifica buey, es como si matase un hombre; el que sacrifica oveja, como si degollase un perro; el que ofrece presente, como si ofreciese sangre de puerco; el que quema incienso, como si bendijese a un ídolo. Y porque han escogido sus propios caminos, y su alma amó sus abominaciones. ^66:4También yo escogeré sus escarnios, y traeré sobre ellos lo que temieron: porque llamé, y nadie respondió; hablé, y no oyeron; antes hicieron lo malo delante de mis ojos, y escogieron lo que no me agrada’”.

^66:5“Oíd Palabra de Jehová, ustedes los que tembláis a su Palabra, ‘Vuestros hermanos que os aborrecen, y os echan fuera por causa de mi Nombre, dijeron, ‘Jehová sea glorificado’. Pero él se mostrará para alegría vuestra, y serán confundidos. ^66:6Voz de alboroto de la ciudad, voz del templo, voz de Jehová que da el pago a sus enemigos. ^66:7Antes que estuviese de parto, dio a luz; antes que le viniesen dolores dio a luz hijo. ^66:8¿Quién oyó cosa semejante? ¿Quién vio tal cosa? ¿Dará a luz la tierra en un día? ¿Nacerá una nación de una vez? Pues en cuanto Sión estuvo de parto, dio a luz sus hijos. ^66:9Yo que hago dar a luz, ¿no haré nacer?’ dice Jehová. ‘Yo que hago nacer, ¿cerraré la matriz?’ dice tu Dios. ^66:10‘Alegraos con Jerusalén, y gozaos con ella, todos los que la amáis; llenaos de gozo con ella, todos los que os enlutáis por ella; ^66:11para que maméis y os saciéis de los pechos de sus consolaciones; para que ordeñéis, y os deleitéis con el resplandor de su gloria’. ^66:12Porque así dice Jehová, ‘He aquí que yo extiendo sobre ella paz como un río, y la gloria de los gentiles como un arroyo que se desborda; y mamaréis, y sobre el regazo seréis traídos, y sobre las rodillas seréis acariciados. ^66:13Como aquel a quien consuela su madre, así os consolaré yo a ustedes, y en Jerusalén tomaréis consuelo.

^66:14“‘Y cuando ustedes vean esto, vuestro corazón se regocijará, y vuestros huesos reverdecerán como la hierba; y la mano de Jehová para con sus siervos será conocida, y su indignación contra sus enemigos: ^66:15porque he aquí que Jehová vendrá con fuego, y sus carros como torbellino, para tornar su ira en furor, y su reprensión en llama de fuego: ^66:16porque Jehová juzgará con fuego y con su espada a toda carne; y los muertos por Jehová serán multiplicados. ^66:17Los que se santifican y los que se purifican en los huertos, unos tras otros, los que comen carne de puerco, y abominación, y ratón; juntamente serán talados,’ dice Jehová. ^66:18‘Porque yo conozco sus obras y sus pensamientos.

“‘Se sucederá, que juntaré todas las naciones e idiomas; y vendrán, y verán mi gloria. ^66:19Y pondré entre ellos señal, y enviaré a los que escaparon de ellos a las naciones, a Tarsis, a Pul y Lud, que disparan arco, a Tubal y a Javán, a las islas apartadas que no oyeron de mí, ni vieron mi gloria; y publicarán mi gloria entre los gentiles. ^66:20Y traerán a todos vuestros hermanos de entre todas las naciones, por ofrenda a Jehová, en caballos, en carros, en literas, en mulos y en camellos, a mi santo monte de Jerusalén,’ dice Jehová, ‘al modo que los hijos de Israel traen el presente en vasos limpios a la Casa de Jehová. ^66:21Y tomaré también de ellos para sacerdotes y levitas,’ dice Jehová. ^66:22‘Porque como los cielos nuevos y la nueva tierra que yo hago permanecerán delante de mí,’ dice Jehová, ‘así permanecerá vuestra simiente y vuestro nombre. ^66:23Y será que de mes en mes, y de sábado en sábado, vendrá toda carne a adorar delante de mí,’ dice Jehová. ^66:24‘Y saldrán, y verán los cadáveres de los hombres que se rebelaron contra mí: porque su gusano nunca morirá, ni su fuego se apagará; y serán abominables a toda carne’”.
