^3:13“‘Jehovah stands up to plead, and stands to judge the people. ^3:14Jehovah will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and its princes: for you have eaten up the vineyard; the plunder of the poor is in your houses: ^3:15‘What do you mean that you beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor?’ says Lord Jehovah of hosts.

^3:16“Moreover Jehovah says, ‘Because the daughters of Zion are proud, and walk with outstretched necks and seductive eyes, walking and skipping as they go, making a jingling with their feet, ^3:17therefore Jehovah will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will discover their secret parts.

^3:18“‘In that day the Lord will take away the finery of their jingling ornaments around their feet, their head ornaments and their little moons around their necks, ^3:19the pendants and the bracelets, the veils, ^3:20the turbans, the ornaments of the legs, the headbands, the tablets, the amulets, ^3:21the rings and nose jewels, ^3:22the festal apparel, the mantles, the outer garments, the purses, ^3:23the mirrors, the fine linen, the tiaras, and the robes.’”

^3:24“‘And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be a stink; and instead of a girdle a tear; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. ^3:25Your men shall fall by the sword, and your mighty in the war. And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

^4:1“‘And in that day, seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, ‘We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel; only let us be called by your name, to take away our reproach.’’”

^4:2“‘In that day, the BRANCH of Jehovah shall be beautiful and glorious;

“‘and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and glorious for them that are escaped of Israel.’”

^4:3“‘And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remains in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem, ^4:4when the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from its midst by the Spirit of judgment, and by the Spirit of burning.

^4:5“‘And Jehovah will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense.

^4:6“‘And there shall be a tabernacle for a shade in the daytime from the heat; and for a place of refuge and for a shelter from storm and from rain.’”

“‘And he expected that it should bring forth grapes, and instead it brought forth wild grapes.’”

^5:3“‘And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, please judge between me and my vineyard. ^5:4What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it?

“‘Why, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, did it bring forth wild grapes?’”

¶Opposite   The house of Israel produced oppression and crying rather than judgment and righteousness (5:5 - 7)

^5:5“‘And now come, I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be eaten up; and I will break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down; ^5:6and I will lay it waste.

“‘It shall not be pruned, nor dug; but there shall come up briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.’”

^5:7“‘For the vineyard of Jehovah of hosts is the house of Israel;

“‘and the men of Judah are his pleasant plant.

“‘And he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.’”

¶Complement   Woe to them who take the inheritance of others by oppression and wrong (5:8 - 13)

^5:8“‘Woe to them that join house to house, that lay field to field, until there is no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the land!’”

^5:9Jehovah of hosts said in my ears, “Truly many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

^5:10“Moreover, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath of wine, and the seed of a homer shall yield an ephah of grain.”

^5:11“Woe to them that rise up early in the morning, that they may pursue alcohol; and that continue until night, until wine inflames them! ^5:12And the harp, the viol, the timbrel, pipe, and wine, are in their feasts; but they do not regard the work of Jehovah; neither consider the operation of his hands.

^5:13“Therefore my people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge; and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.”

¶Complement   Jehovah will make the humble to triumph over the proud (5:14 - 20)

^5:14“Therefore Hell has enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure; and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoices, shall descend into it.

^5:15“And the common man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled; ^5:16but Jehovah of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

^5:17“Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.”

^5:18“Woe to them that drag iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin, as it were, with a cart rope; ^5:19that say, ‘Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it; and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come, that we may know it!’

^5:20“Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

¶Unique   The anger of Jehovah is kindled against his people and He will bring invading armies to punish them (5:21 - 30)

^5:21“Woe to them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

^5:22“Woe to them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle alcohol, ^5:23who justify the wicked for a bribe, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! ^5:24Therefore as the fire devours the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust, because they have cast away the Law of Jehovah of hosts, and despised the Word of the Holy One of Israel.”

^5:25“Therefore is the anger of Jehovah kindled against his people, and he has stretched forth his hand against them, and has smitten them; and the hills trembled, and their corpses were torn in the midst of the streets: for all this his anger has not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still in judgment.

^5:26“And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from afar, and will whistle to them from the end of the earth; and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly; ^5:27none shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the belt on their waist be loosed, nor the strap of their shoes be broken; ^5:28whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent; their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind; ^5:29their roaring shall be like a lion; they shall roar like young lions; moreover, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safely, and no one shall deliver it.

^5:30“And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea; and if one looks to the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens of it.”

^6:5Then I said, “Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of hosts!”

^6:6Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar; ^6:7and he laid it upon my mouth, and said, “Lo, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin has been covered.”

^6:8Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am; send me.”

^6:9And he said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Truly you hear, but do not understand; and truly you see, but do not perceive. ^6:10Make the heart of this people fat; and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes, lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart; and convert and be healed.’”

^6:11Then I said, “Lord, how long?” And he answered, “Until the cities are wasted without an inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land is utterly desolate, ^6:12and Jehovah has removed men far away, and there is a great apostasy in the midst of the land.

^6:13“But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten.

“As a terebinth tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves, so the holy seed shall be its substance.”

^3:18“‘Aquel día quitará el Señor el atavío de los calzados, las redecillas, las lunetas; ^3:19los collares, los brazaletes y los velos; ^3:20las cofias, los atavíos de las piernas, los partidores del pelo, los pomitos de olor y los zarcillos; ^3:21los anillos y los joyeles de la nariz; ^3:22las ropas de gala, los mantos, los lienzos, las bolsas, ^3:23los espejos, el lino fino, las mitras y los velos’”.

^3:24“‘Y será que en lugar de perfume aromático vendrá hediondez; y cuerda en vez de cinturón; y calvez en lugar de la compostura del cabello; y en lugar de ropa de gala ceñimiento de cilicio; y quemadura en vez de hermosura. ^3:25Tus varones caerán a espada, y tus poderosos en la guerra. Sus puertas se entristecerán y enlutarán, y ella, desamparada, se sentará en tierra.

^4:1“‘Y en ese dia, siete mujeres echarán mano de un hombre, diciendo, ‘Nosotras comeremos de nuestro pan, y nos vestiremos de nuestras ropas; solamente permítenos ser llamadas por tu nombre, y así quitar nuestro oprobio’’”.

“‘¿Por qué, esperando yo que diese uvas, ha dado uvas silvestres?”’.

“‘Y él buscó juicio, pero he aquí, opresión; por justicia, pero he aquí, un clamor’”.

^5:8“‘¡Ay de los que juntan casa con casa, que extienden campo tras campo, hasta que no lugar, para que puedan ser colocados solos en medio de la tierra!’”.

^5:11“¡Ay de los que se levantan muy de mañana para ir tras el alcohol! ¡Y eso continúa hasta la noche, hasta que el vino los inflama! ^5:12Y el arpa, la viola, el pandero, la flauta y el vino, están en sus fiestas; pero ellos no tienen preocupación por la obra de Jehová; ni ellos consideran la operación de sus manos.

^5:13Por eso mi pueblo es llevado cautivo: porque no tiene conocimiento; y sus nobles perecen de hambre, y su multitud se seca de sed”.

^5:14“Por eso el infierno se ha agrandado y ha abierto su boca sin medida; y su gloria, y su multitud, y su pompa, y él que se regocija, descenderán dentro ella.

^5:15“Y el hombre vil será abatido, y el hombre altivo será humillado, y los ojos de los soberbios serán bajados. ^5:16Pero Jehová de los ejércitos será exaltado en juicio, y el Dios Santo será santificado con justicia.

^5:17Y los corderos serán apacentados según su costumbre; y extraños devorarán los campos desolados de los ricos”.

^5:18“¡Ay de los que traen la iniquidad con cuerdas de vanidad, y el pecado como con coyundas de carreta, ^5:19los cuales dicen, ‘Venga ya, apresúrese su obra, y veamos; acérquese, y venga el consejo del Santo de Israel, para que lo sepamos!’

^5:20“¡Ay de los que a lo malo dicen bueno, y a lo bueno malo; que hacen de la luz tinieblas, y de las tinieblas luz; que ponen lo amargo por dulce, y lo dulce por amargo!”.

^5:21“¡Ay de los sabios en sus propios ojos, y de los que son prudentes delante de sí mismos!

^5:22“¡Ay de los que son valientes para beber vino, y hombres fuertes para mezclar bebida; ^5:23los que dan por justo al impío por cohecho, y al justo quitan su justicia! ^5:24Por tanto, como la lengua del fuego consume el rastrojo, y la llama devora la paja, así será su raíz como podredumbre, y su flor se desvanecerá como polvo: porque desecharon la Ley de Jehová de los ejércitos, y abominaron la Palabra del Santo de Israel”.

^5:25“Por esta causa se encendió el furor de Jehová contra su pueblo, y extendió contra él su mano, y le hirió; y se estremecieron los montes, y sus cadáveres fueron arrojados en medio de las calles. Con todo esto no ha cesado su furor, pero su mano todavía está extendida.

^5:26“Y alzará pendón a naciones lejanas, y silbará al que está en el extremo de la tierra; y he aquí que vendrá pronto y velozmente. ^5:27No habrá entre ellos cansado, ni que vacile; ninguno se dormirá ni le tomará sueño; a ninguno se le desatará el cinto de los lomos, ni se le romperá la correa de sus zapatos. ^5:28Sus saetas afiladas, y todos sus arcos entesados; los cascos de sus caballos parecerán como de pedernal, y las ruedas de sus carros como torbellino. ^5:29Su rugido será como de león; rugirá a manera de leoncillos, crujirá los dientes, y arrebatará la presa; se la llevará con seguridad, y nadie se la quitará.

^5:30“Y bramarán sobre él en aquel día como bramido del mar; entonces mirará hacia la tierra, y he aquí tinieblas de tribulación, y en los cielos se oscurecerá la luz”.

^6:1En el año que murió el rey Uzías vi yo al Señor sentado sobre un trono alto y sublime; y el borde de su vestidura llenaba el Templo.

^6:2Por encima de él había serafines; cada uno tenía seis alas; con dos cubrían sus rostros, y con dos cubrían sus pies, y con dos volaban. ^6:3el uno al otro daba voces, diciendo, “¡¡Santo, santo, santo, Jehová de los ejércitos; toda la tierra está llena de su gloria!!”.

^6:4Y los quiciales de las puertas se estremecieron con la voz del que clamaba, y la casa se llenó de humo.

^6:5Entonces dije, “¡Ay de mí! ¡Que soy muerto: porque siendo hombre inmundo de labios, y habitando en medio de pueblo que tiene labios inmundos: porque han visto mis ojos al Rey, Jehová de los ejércitos!”.

^6:6Y voló hacia mí uno de los serafines, teniendo en su mano un carbón encendido, tomado del altar con unas tenazas; ^6:7y tocando con él sobre mi boca, dijo, “He aquí que esto tocó tus labios, y es quitada tu culpa, y limpio tu pecado”.

¶El complemento   Isaías entregó su vida a Jehová para predicar su Palabra (6:8 - 13)

^6:8Después oí la voz del Señor, que decía, “¿A quién enviaré, y quién irá por nosotros?”. Entonces respondí yo, “Heme aquí, envíame a mí”.

^6:9Y dijo, “Ve, y di a este pueblo, ‘En verdad oís, pero no entendéis; y verdaderamente veis, pero no percibís. ^6:10Haz el corazón de esta gente a gordo, y hacerles los oídos pesados, y cierran los ojos; no sea que vea con sus ojos, y oiga con sus oídos, y su corazón entienda, y se convierta, y sea sanado’”.

^6:11Y yo dije, “¿Hasta cuándo, Señor?”. Y respondió él, “Hasta que las ciudades estén asoladas y sin morador, y no haya hombre en las casas, y la tierra sea tornada en desierto; ^6:12hasta que Jehová haya echado lejos a los hombres, y sea grande el abandono en medio de la tierra.

^6:13“Pero aún habrá en ello décima parte, y volverá y será comido.

“Como el terebinto, y como el roble, cuya sustancia está en ellos, cuando arrojan sus hojas, así la semilla santa será su sustancia”.
