^46:5“‘Why have I seen them dismayed and turned away back? And their mighty ones are beaten down, and have fled apace, and do not look back: fear is on every side,’ says Jehovah. ^46:6‘Let the swift not flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.

^46:7“‘Who is this that comes up as a flood, whose water is moved as the rivers? ^46:8Egypt rises up like a flood, and his water is moved like the rivers; and he says, ‘I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and its inhabitants.’”

^46:9“‘Come up, you horses; and rage, you chariots; and let the mighty men come forth: the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow: ^46:10for this is the Day of the Lord Jehovah of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge himself of his adversaries; and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satisfied and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord Jehovah of hosts has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

^46:11“‘Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt. You shall use many medicines in vain, because you shall not be cured. ^46:12The nations have heard of your shame, and your cry has filled the land: for the mighty man has stumbled against the mighty, and they have both fallen together.’”

Say, ‘Stand fast, and prepare: for the sword shall devour round about you! ^46:15Why are your valiant men swept away?’ They did not stand, because Jehovah drove them. ^46:16He made many to fall; moreover, one fell upon another; and they said, ‘Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.’ ^46:17They cried there, ‘Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he has passed the time appointed!’

^46:18“‘As I live,’ says the King, whose Name is Jehovah of hosts, ‘Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, he shall come. ^46:19O you daughter dwelling in Egypt, prepare yourself to go into captivity: for Noph shall be waste and desolate without an inhabitant.’”

^46:20“‘Egypt is like a very pretty heifer, but destruction is coming; it comes out of the north. ^46:21Also her mercenaries in her midst are like fattened bulls: for they also have turned back, and have fled away together; they did not stand, because the day of their calamity came upon them, and the time of their visitation. ^46:22The voice of it shall go like a serpent: for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as cutters of wood. ^46:23They shall cut down her forest,’ says Jehovah, ‘though it cannot be searched, because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable. ^46:24The daughter of Egypt shall be ashamed; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.’

^46:25“Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, says, ‘Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods and their kings: even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him; ^46:26and I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives; and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants. And afterwards it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old,’ says Jehovah.

^46:27“‘But fear not, O my servant Jacob, and do not be dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will deliver you from afar off, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and no one shall make him afraid. ^46:28Fear not, O Jacob my servant,’ says Jehovah, ‘for I am with you. For I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you; but I will not make a full end of you, but correct you in measure. Yet will I not leave you wholly unpunished.’”

“‘Then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl ^47:3at the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels. The fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands, ^47:4because of the day that is coming to plunder all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remains: for Jehovah will plunder the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor.’”

^47:5“‘Baldness has come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley. How long will you cut yourself?

^47:6“‘O you sword of Jehovah, how long will it be before you are quiet? Put yourself up into your scabbard; rest, and be still.

^47:7“‘How can it be quiet, seeing Jehovah has given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the seashore? There has he appointed it.’”

¶Complement   Prophecy against Moab to flee and save their lives (48:1 - 13)

^48:1Against Moab: “Thus says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Woe to Nebo! For it is plundered. Kiriathaim is ashamed and taken; Misgab is ashamed and dismayed. ^48:2There shall be no more praise of Moab. In Heshbon they have devised evil against it, saying, ‘Come, and let us cut it off from being a nation.’ Also you shall be cut down, O city of Madmen; the sword shall pursue you.

^48:3“‘A voice of crying shall be from Horonaim, plundering and great destruction. ^48:4Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard. ^48:5For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up: for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.

^48:6“‘Flee, save your lives, and be like the shrub in the wilderness! ^48:7For because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you also shall be taken; and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together. ^48:8And the plunderer shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape; the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as Jehovah has spoken. ^48:9Give wings to Moab, that it may flee and get away: for its cities shall be desolate, without any to dwell in them.’”

^48:10“‘Cursed is he that does the work of Jehovah deceitfully; and cursed is he that keeps back his sword from blood.

^48:11“‘Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his lees, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel; neither has he gone into captivity; therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent has not changed. ^48:12Therefore, behold, the days are coming,’ says Jehovah, ‘that I will send to him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles. ^48:13And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.’”

^48:14“‘How do you say, ‘We are mighty and strong men for the war?’ ^48:15Moab is plundered, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men have gone down to the slaughter,’ says the King, whose Name is Jehovah of hosts. ^48:16‘The calamity of Moab is near at hand, and his affliction is hastening fast. ^48:17All you that are around him, bemoan him; and all you that know his Name, say, ‘How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!’ ^48:18You daughter that inhabits Dibon, come down from your glory, and sit in thirst: for the plunderer of Moab shall come upon you, and he shall destroy your strongholds. ^48:19O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and watch; ask him that flees, and her that escapes, and say, ‘What is done?’

^48:20“‘Moab is ashamed: for it is broken down; howl and cry, and tell it in Arnon, that Moab is plundered, ^48:21and judgment has come upon the plain country: upon Holon, upon Jahazah, upon Mephaath, ^48:22upon Dibon, upon Nebo, upon Beth-diblathaim, ^48:23upon Kiriathaim, upon Beth-gamul, upon Beth-meon, ^48:24upon Kerioth, upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near. ^48:25The horn of Moab has been cut off, and his arm is broken,’ says Jehovah. ^48:26‘Make him drunk: for he magnified himself against Jehovah. Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he shall also be in derision: ^48:27for was not Israel a derision to you? Was he found among thieves? For since you spoke of him, you skipped for joy. ^48:28O you that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that makes her nest in the sides of the hole's mouth.

^48:29“‘We have heard the pride of Moab (he is exceedingly proud): his loftiness, his arrogance, his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart. ^48:30I know his wrath,’ says Jehovah; ‘but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it. ^48:31Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; my heart shall mourn for the men of Kir-heres. ^48:32O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for you with the weeping of Jazer; your plants have gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer; the plunderer has fallen upon your summer fruits and upon your vintage. ^48:33And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses; no one shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall not be shouts of joy. ^48:34From the cry of Heshbon even to Elealeh, and even to Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim, as a heifer of three years old, because the water also of Nimrim shall be desolate.’”

^48:35“‘Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab,’ says Jehovah, ‘him that offers in the high places, and him that burns incense to his gods. ^48:36Therefore my heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and my heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kir-heres, because the riches that he has acquired have perished: ^48:37for every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped; upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth. ^48:38There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in its streets: for I have broken Moab like a vessel in which is no pleasure,’ says Jehovah. ^48:39‘They shall howl, saying, ‘How is it broken down! How has Moab turned the back with shame!’ So shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them around him.’ ^48:40For thus says Jehovah: ‘Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab. ^48:41Kerioth is taken, and the strongholds are surprised; and the mighty men's hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. ^48:42And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he has magnified himself against Jehovah. ^48:43Fear, the pit, and the snare, shall be upon you, O inhabitant of Moab,’ says Jehovah. ^48:44‘He that flees from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that gets up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation,’ says Jehovah. ^48:45‘They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the power; but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones. ^48:46Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh are perishing: for your sons are taken captives, and your daughters captives.

^48:47“‘Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the Latter Days,’ says Jehovah. ‘Thus far is the judgment of Moab.’”

^49:1Concerning the Ammonites: “Thus says Jehovah: ‘Does Israel have no sons? Does he have no heir? Why then does their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?

^49:2“‘Therefore, behold, the days are coming,’ says Jehovah, ‘that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire, then shall Israel be heir to them that were his heirs,’ says Jehovah.

^49:3“‘Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is plundered; cry, you daughters of Rabbah, gird yourself with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges: for their king shall go into captivity, together with his priests and his princes.’”

^49:4“‘Why do you glory in the valleys, your flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? You that trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who shall come to me?’ ^49:5Behold, I will bring fear upon you,’ says the Lord Jehovah of hosts, ‘from all those that are around you; and you shall be driven out every man in front; and no one shall gather up him that wanders.

^49:6“‘And afterward I will bring again the captivity of the children of Ammon,’ says Jehovah.”

^49:7Concerning Edom: “Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘Is there no more wisdom in Teman? Has counsel perished from the prudent? Has their wisdom vanished? ^49:8Flee, turn back, and dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan: for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him. ^49:9If grape-gatherers come to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? If thieves come by night, they will destroy until they have enough. ^49:10But I have made Esau bare; I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself; his seed is plundered, and his brethren, and his neighbors; and he is not.

^49:11“‘Leave your fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let your widows trust in me.’ ^49:12For thus says Jehovah: ‘Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have certainly drunk; and are you he that shall altogether go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink of it: ^49:13for I have sworn by myself,’ says Jehovah, ‘that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.’”

^49:14“I have heard a message from Jehovah, and an ambassador is sent to the heathen, saying, ‘Gather yourselves together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle: ^49:15for, lo, I will make you small among the heathen, and despised among men. ^49:16Your terror to others has deceived you, and the pride of your heart, O you that dwell in the clefts of the rock, that hold the height of the hill; though you should make your nest as high as the eagle, yet I will bring you down from there,’ says Jehovah. ^49:17‘Also Edom shall be a desolation; everyone that goes by it shall be astonished, and shall whistle at all its plagues. ^49:18As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and its neighbor cities,’ says Jehovah, ‘no man shall stay there; neither shall a son of man dwell in it.

^49:19“‘Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong; but I will suddenly make him run away from her. And who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? For who is like me? And who will appoint me the time? And who is that shepherd that will stand before me?’

^49:20“Therefore hear the counsel of Jehovah, that he has taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman, ‘Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out; surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them. ^49:21The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry its noise was heard in the Red sea. ^49:22Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah; and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.’”

^49:28Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite: “Thus says Jehovah: ‘Arise; go up to Kedar, and plunder the men of the east. ^49:29They shall take away their tents and their flocks; they shall take to themselves their curtains, all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry to them, ‘Fear is on every side!’

^49:30“‘Flee, and go far away! Dwell deep, O you inhabitants of Hazor,’ says Jehovah, ‘for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you, and has conceived a purpose against you.

^49:31“‘Arise, go up to the wealthy nation, that dwells without care,’ says Jehovah, ‘which has neither gates nor bars, which dwells alone. ^49:32And their camels shall be for booty, and the multitude of their cattle a plunder; and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides of it,’ says Jehovah. ^49:33‘And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation forever; no man shall stay there, nor any son of man dwell in it.’”

^46:25“Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, dice, ‘He aquí que yo visito el pueblo de Amón de No, y a Faraón y a Egipto, y a sus dioses y a sus reyes; así a Faraón como a los que en él confían. ^46:26Y los entregaré en mano de los que buscan su alma, y en mano de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y en mano de sus siervos; pero después será habitada como en los días pasados,’ dice Jehová.

^46:27“‘Pero no temas, Oh siervo mío Jacob, y no desmayes, Oh Israel: porque he aquí que yo te salvo de lejos, y a tu simiente de la tierra de su cautividad. Y volverá Jacob, y descansará y será prosperado, y no habrá quien lo espante. ^46:28Tú, siervo mío Jacob, no temas,’ dice Jehová; ‘porque yo estoy contigo: porque haré consumación en todas las gentes a las cuales te habré echado; pero en ti no haré consumación, sino que te castigaré con juicio, de ninguna manera te dejaré sin castigo’”.

§El complemento   Cuerpo: Profecías contra los enemigos locales de Israel y Judá sobre el este y oeste (47:1 - 49:22)

¶Único   Profecía contra los filisteos (47:1 - 7)

^47:1Palabra de Jehová que vino al Profeta Jeremías acerca de los filisteos, antes que Faraón hiriese a Gaza: ^47:2“Así dice Jehová, ‘He aquí que suben aguas del norte, y se tornarán en torrente, e inundarán la tierra y su plenitud, ciudades y moradores de ellas.

“‘Entonces los hombres clamarán, y aullará todo morador de la tierra ^47:3por el sonido de las uñas de sus fuertes, por el alboroto de sus carros, por el estruendo de sus ruedas. Los padres no mirarán a los hijos por la flaqueza de las manos; ^47:4a causa del día que viene para destrucción de todos los filisteos, para cortar de Tiro y de Sidón a todo ayudador que queda vivo: porque Jehová destruirá a los filisteos, al resto de la isla de Caftor’”.

^47:5“‘La calvicie ha llegado sobre Gaza, Ascalón está cortada con el resto de su valle. ¿Cuánto tiempo te cortarás?

^47:6“‘Oh espada de Jehová, ¿Cuánto tiempo pasará antes de que estés tranquilo? Vuélvete a tu vaina, descansa y permanece quieto.

^47:7“‘¿Cómo puede estar tranquila, siendo que Jehová le ha dado una carga contra Ascalón, y contra la costa del mar? Allí lo ha señalado’”.

¶El complemento   Profecía contra Moab para huir y salvar sus vidas (48:1 - 13)

^48:1Acerca de Moab: “Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, ‘¡Ay de Nebo! Que fue destruida, fue avergonzada; Quiriataim fue tomada; fue confusa Misgab, y desmayó. ^48:2No se alabará ya más Moab; contra Hesbón maquinaron mal, diciendo, “Venid, y quitémosla de entre las gentes”. También tú, Madmén, serás cortada, espada irá tras ti.

^48:3“‘¡Voz de clamor de Horonaim, destrucción y gran quebrantamiento! ^48:4Moab fue quebrantada; hicieron que se oyese el clamor de sus pequeños: ^48:5porque a la subida de Luhit con lloro subirá el que llora: porque a la bajada de Horonaim los enemigos oyeron clamor de quebranto.

^48:6“‘¡Huid, salvad vuestra vida, y sed como retama en el desierto! ^48:7Pues por cuanto confiaste en tus haciendas, en tus tesoros, tú también serás tomada; y Quemos saldrá en cautiverio, los sacerdotes y sus príncipes juntamente. ^48:8Y vendrá destruidor a cada una de las ciudades, y ninguna ciudad escapará; se arruinará también el valle, y será destruida la llanura, como ha dicho Jehová. ^48:9Dad alas a Moab, para que volando se vaya; pues serán desiertas sus ciudades hasta no quedar en ellas morador’”.

^48:10“‘Maldito el que hiciere engañosamente la obra de Jehová, y maldito el que detuviere su espada de la sangre.

^48:11“‘Quieto estuvo Moab desde su juventud, y sobre sus rescoldos ha estado él reposado, y no fue trasegado de vaso en vaso, ni nunca fue en cautiverio; por tanto quedó su sabor en él, y su olor no ha cambiado. ^48:12Por eso, he aquí que vienen días,’ dice Jehová, ‘en que yo le enviaré trasportadores que lo harán trasportar; y vaciarán sus vasos, y romperán sus odres. ^48:13Y se avergonzará Moab de Quemos, a la manera que la casa de Israel se avergonzó de Betel, su confianza’”.

¶El complemento   Profecía contra Moab para denunciar su orgullo (48:14 - 47)

^48:14“‘¿Cómo diréis, ‘Somos valientes, y robustos hombres para la guerra?’ ^48:15Destruido fue Moab, y sus ciudades asoló, y sus jóvenes escogidos descendieron al degolladero,’ ha dicho el Rey, cuyo Nombre es Jehová de los ejércitos. ^48:16‘Cercano está el quebrantamiento de Moab para venir, y su mal se apresura mucho. ^48:17Compadeceos de él todos los que estáis alrededor suyo; y todos los que sabéis su Nombre, decid, ‘¿Cómo se quebró la vara de fortaleza, el báculo de hermosura?’ ^48:18Desciende de la gloria, siéntate en seco, moradora hija de Dibón: porque el destructor de Moab subió contra ti, disipó tus fortalezas. ^48:19Párate junto al camino, y mira, oh moradora de Aroer; pregunta a la que va huyendo, y a la que escapó; dile, ‘¿Qué ha acontecido?’

^48:20“‘Se avergonzó Moab: porque fue quebrantado; aullad y clamad; denunciad en Arnón que Moab es destruido. ^48:21Y que vino juicio sobre la tierra de la llanura; sobre Holón, y sobre Jahaza, y sobre Mefaat, ^48:22y sobre Dibón, y sobre Nebo, y sobre Bet-diblataim, ^48:23y sobre Quiriataim, y sobre Bet-gamul, y sobre Bet-meón, ^48:24y sobre Queriot, y sobre Bosra, y sobre todas las ciudades de tierra de Moab, las de lejos y las de cerca. ^48:25Cortado es el cuerno de Moab, y su brazo quebrantado,’ dice Jehová. ^48:26‘Embriagadlo: porque contra Jehová se engrandeció; y revuélquese Moab sobre su vómito, y sea también él por escarnio. ^48:27¿Y no te fue a ti Israel por escarnio, como si lo tomaran entre ladrones? Porque desde que de él hablaste, tú te has burlado. ^48:28Desamparad las ciudades, y habitad en peñascos, oh moradores de Moab; y sed como la paloma que hace nido detrás de la boca de la caverna.

^48:29“‘Oído hemos la soberbia de Moab (que es muy soberbio): su altivez y su arrogancia, su orgullo y la altanería de su corazón. ^48:30Yo conozco,’ dice Jehová, ‘su cólera; pero no tendrá efecto; sus mentiras no le aprovecharán. ^48:31Por tanto yo aullaré sobre Moab, y sobre todo Moab haré clamor, y sobre los hombres de Kir-heres gemiré. ^48:32Con lloro de Jazer lloraré por ti, oh vid de Sibma; tus sarmientos pasaron el mar, llegaron hasta el mar de Jazer; sobre tus frutos de verano y sobre tu vendimia vino destructor. ^48:33Y será cortada la alegría y el regocijo de los campos labrados, y de la tierra de Moab; y haré cesar el vino de los lagares: no pisarán con canción; la canción no será canción. ^48:34El clamor, desde Hesbón hasta Eleale; hasta Jahaza dieron su voz; desde Zoar hasta Horonaim, becerra de tres años: porque también las aguas de Nimrim serán destruidas’”.

^48:35“‘Además, yo haré cesar en Moab,’ dice Jehová, ‘él que ofrece en los lugares altos, y él que quema incienso a sus dioses. ^48:36Por tanto, mi corazón resonará como flautas por causa de Moab, asimismo resonará mi corazón a modo de flautas por los hombres de Kir-heres: porque perecieron las riquezas que había hecho: ^48:37porque en toda cabeza habrá calva, y toda barba será raída; sobre toda mano habrá rasguños, y cilicio sobre todo lomo. ^48:38Sobre todas las techumbres de Moab y en sus calles, todo él será llanto: porque yo quebranté a Moab como a vaso que no es agradable,’ dice Jehová. ^48:39‘Aullad, ‘¡Cómo ha sido quebrantado! ¡Cómo volvió la cerviz Moab, y fue avergonzado!’ Y fue Moab en escarnio y en espanto a todos los que están en sus alrededores’. ^48:40Porque así dice Jehová, ‘He aquí que como águila volará, y extenderá sus alas a Moab. ^48:41Tomada ha sido Queriot, y tomadas son las fortalezas; y aquel día el corazón de los valientes de Moab será como el corazón de mujer en angustias. ^48:42Y Moab será destruido para dejar de ser pueblo: porque se engrandeció contra Jehová. ^48:43Miedo y hoyo y lazo sobre ti, oh morador de Moab,’ dice Jehová. ^48:44‘El que huyere del miedo, caerá en el hoyo; y el que saliere del hoyo, será preso del lazo: porque yo traeré sobre él, sobre Moab, año de su visitación,’ dice Jehová. ^48:45‘A la sombra de Hesbón se pararon los que huían de la fuerza; pero salió fuego de Hesbón, y llama de en medio de Sehón, y quemó el rincón de Moab, y la coronilla de los hijos revoltosos. ^48:46¡Ay de ti, Moab! Pereció el pueblo de Quemos: porque tus hijos fueron presos para cautividad, y tus hijas para cautiverio.

^48:47“‘Pero en los Postreros Días yo haré volver a los cautivos de Moab,’ dice Jehová. ‘Hasta aquí es el juicio de Moab’”.

¶Lo opuesto   Profecía contra los amonitas (49:1 - 6)

^49:1De los hijos de Amón: “Así dice Jehová, ‘¿No tiene hijos Israel? ¿No tiene heredero? ¿Por qué tomó como por heredad el rey de ellos a Gad, y su pueblo habitó en sus ciudades?

^49:2“‘Por tanto, he aquí vienen días,’ ha dicho Jehová, ‘en que haré oír en Rabá de los hijos de Amón clamor de guerra; y será puesta en montón de asolamiento, y sus ciudades serán puestas a fuego, e Israel tomará por heredad a los que los tomaron a ellos,’ dice Jehová.

^49:3“‘Aúlla, oh Hesbón: porque destruida es Hai; clamad, hijas de Rabá, vestíos de cilicio, endechad, y rodead por los vallados: porque el rey de ellos fue en cautiverio, sus sacerdotes y sus príncipes juntamente’”.

^49:4“‘¿Por qué te glorías de los valles? Tu valle se deshizo, oh hija contumaz, la que confía en sus tesoros, la que dice, ‘¿Quién vendrá contra mí?’ ^49:5He aquí yo traigo espanto sobre ti,’ dice el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘de todos tus alrededores; y seréis lanzados cada uno delante de su rostro, y no habrá quien recoja al errante.

^49:6“‘Y después de esto haré tornar la cautividad de los hijos de Amón,’ dice Jehová”.

¶Lo opuesto   Profecía contra Edom (49:7 - 22)

^49:7De Edom: “Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘¿No hay más sabiduría en Temán? ¿Ha perecido el consejo enlos sabios? ¿Se corrompió su sabiduría? ^49:8Huid, volveos, escondeos en abismos, oh moradores de Dedán: porque el quebrantamiento de Esaú traeré sobre él, al tiempo que lo he de visitar. ^49:9Si vendimiadores vinieran contra ti, ¿no dejarán rebuscos? Si ladrones de noche, tomarán sólo hasta que les baste. ^49:10Pero yo desnudaré a Esaú, descubriré sus escondrijos, y no podrá esconderse; será destruida su simiente, y sus hermanos, y sus vecinos; y ya no será.

^49:11“‘Deja tus huérfanos, yo los preservaré con vida; y tus viudas confiarán en mí’. ^49:12Porque así dice Jehová, ‘He aquí que los que no estaban condenados a beber del cáliz, beberán ciertamente; ¿y serás tú absuelto del todo? No serás absuelto, sino que de cierto beberás: ^49:13porque por mí he jurado,’ dice Jehová, ‘que en asolamiento, en oprobio, en soledad, y en maldición, será Bosra; y todas sus ciudades serán en asolamientos perpetuos’”.

^49:14“He oído un mensaje desde Jehová, y se envía un embajador a los paganos, diciendo, ‘Juntaos, y venid contra ella, y levantaos a la batalla. ^49:15Porque he aquí que pequeño te he puesto entre las naciones, menospreciado entre los hombres. ^49:16Tu arrogancia te engañó, y la soberbia de tu corazón, tú que habitas en las hendiduras de la peña, que tienes la altura del monte; aunque en las alturas como el águila hagas tu nido, de allí te haré descender,’ dice Jehová. ^49:17‘Y será Edom en asolamiento: todo aquel que pasare por ella se espantará, y silbará sobre todas sus plagas. ^49:18Como en la destrucción de Sodoma y Gomorra, y de sus ciudades vecinas,’ dice Jehová, ‘no morará allí nadie, ni la habitará hijo de hombre.

^49:19“‘He aquí que como león subirá de la hinchazón del Jordán contra la bella y robusta: porque muy pronto lo haré correr de sobre ella, y al que fuere escogido la encargaré: porque ¿quién es semejante a mí? ¿Quién me emplazará? ¿Quién será aquel pastor que me podrá resistir?

^49:20“‘Por tanto, oíd el consejo de Jehová, que ha acordado sobre Edom; y sus pensamientos, que ha resuelto sobre los moradores de Temán. Ciertamente los más pequeños del hato los arrastrarán, y destruirán sus moradas con ellos. ^49:21Del estruendo de la caída de ellos la tierra tembló, y el grito de su voz se oyó en el Mar Rojo. ^49:22He aquí que como águila subirá y volará, y extenderá sus alas sobre Bosra; y el corazón de los valientes de Edom será en aquel día como el corazón de mujer en angustias’”.

¶El complemento   Profecía contra la ciudad de Damasco (49:23 - 33)

^49:23Acerca de Damasco: “‘Se confundió Hamat, y Arfad: porque oyeron malas nuevas; se derritieron en aguas de desmayo, no pueden sosegarse. ^49:24Se desmayó Damasco, se volvió para huir, y le tomó temblor: angustia y dolores le tomaron, como de mujer que está de parto.

^49:25“‘¡Cómo dejaron a la ciudad de alabanza, ciudad de mi gozo! ^49:26Por tanto, sus jóvenes caerán en sus plazas, y todos los hombres de guerra morirán en aquel día,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos. ^49:27‘Y haré encender fuego en el muro de Damasco, y consumirá las casas de Benadad’”.

^49:28Acerca de Cedar, y de los reinos de Hazor, que Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia herirá: “Así dice Jehová, ‘Levantaos, subid contra Cedar, y saquead a los hombres de oriente. ^49:29Sus tiendas y sus ganados tomarán; sus cortinas, y todos sus vasos, y sus camellos, tomarán para sí; y les gritarán: ‘¡Miedo está en todos lados!’.

^49:30“‘Huid, escapad muy lejos! Habitad en lugares profundos, oh moradores de Hazor,’ dice Jehová; ‘porque Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia tomó consejo contra ustedes, y contra ustedes ha formado designio.

^49:31“‘Levantaos, subid a gente pacífica, que vive confiadamente,’ dice Jehová, ‘que ni tienen puertas ni cerrojos, que viven solitarios. ^49:32Y serán sus camellos por presa, y la multitud de sus ganados por despojo; y los esparciré por todos los vientos, serán lanzados hasta el postrer rincón; y de todos sus lados les traeré su ruina,’ dice Jehová. ^49:33‘Y Hazor será guarida de dragones, soledad para siempre: ninguno morará allí, ni la habitará hijo de hombre’”.

¶El complemento   Profecía contra la nación de Elam (49:34 - 39)

^49:34Palabra de Jehová que vino al Profeta Jeremías acerca de Elam, en el principio del reinado de Sedequías rey de Judá, diciendo, ^49:35“Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘He aquí que yo quiebro el arco de Elam, principio de su fortaleza.

^49:36“‘Y traeré sobre Elam los cuatro vientos de los cuatro puntos del cielo, y los aventaré a todos estos vientos; no habrá nación adonde no vengan los expulsados de Elam’”.

^49:37“‘Y haré que Elam se intimide delante de sus enemigos, y delante de los que buscan su alma; y traeré sobre ellos mal, incluso el furor de mi enojo,’ dice Jehová; ‘y enviaré en pos de ellos espada hasta que los acabe.

^49:38“‘Y pondré mi trono en Elam, y destruiré de allí rey y príncipe,’ dice Jehová.

^49:39“‘Pero acontecerá en lo postrero de los días, que haré volver la cautividad de Elam,’ dice Jehová”.
