^2:4“‘And you shall know that I have sent this Commandment to you, that my covenant might be with Levi,’ says Jehovah of hosts.

^2:5“‘My covenant of life and peace was with him; and I gave them to him for the fear with which he feared me, and was afraid before my Name. ^2:6The Law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips; he walked with me in peace and equity, and turned away many from iniquity. ^2:7For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the Law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.’”

^2:8“‘But you have departed out of the Way; you have caused many to stumble at the Law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi,’ says Jehovah of hosts.

^2:9“‘Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people: according as you have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the Law.’”

^2:10Do we not all have one father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the Covenant of our fathers?

^2:11“‘Judah has dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem: for Judah has profaned the holiness of Jehovah which he loved, and has married the daughter of a strange god. ^2:12Jehovah will cut off the man that does this, even the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offers an offering to Jehovah of hosts.

^2:13“‘And this have you done again, covering the altar of Jehovah with tears, with weeping, and with crying out; insomuch that he does not regard the offering anymore, nor does he receive it with good will at your hand. ^2:14Yet you say, ‘Why?’ Because Jehovah has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously; yet she is your companion, and the wife of your covenant.’”

^2:15“‘And did he not make two one flesh? Yet he had the residue of the Spirit. And why one flesh? So that he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit; and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

^2:16“‘For Jehovah, the God of Israel, says that he hates divorce. For one covers violence with his garment,’ says Jehovah of hosts. ‘Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.’”

^3:1“‘Behold, I will send my Messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me; and the Lord, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to his Temple; even the Messenger of the Covenant, whom you delight in. Behold, he shall come,’ says Jehovah of hosts.”

^3:2“‘But who may endure the Day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like launderers' soap; ^3:3and he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver. And he shall purify the sons of Levi; and he purge them like gold and silver, that they may offer an offering to Jehovah in righteousness.

^3:4“‘Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant to Jehovah, as in the days of old, and as in former years. ^3:5And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the employee in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and do not fear me,’ says Jehovah of hosts.

^3:6“‘For I am Jehovah; I change not; therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed.’”

^3:11“‘And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field,’ says Jehovah of hosts.

^3:12“‘And all nations shall call you blessed: for you shall be a delightful land,’ says Jehovah of hosts.”

^3:16“‘Then they that feared Jehovah spoke often one to another; and Jehovah listened, and heard it; and a Book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared Jehovah, and that thought upon his Name. ^3:17And they shall be mine,’ says Jehovah of hosts, ‘in that Day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves him.’”

^3:18“‘Then you shall return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that serves him not. ^4:1For, behold, the Day is coming, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be as stubble; and the Day that is coming shall burn them up,’ says Jehovah of hosts, ‘so that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

^4:2“‘But unto you that fear my Name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and you shall go forth, and grow up as fattened calves of the stall. ^4:3And you shall tread down the wicked: for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet, in the Day that I shall do this,’ says Jehovah of hosts.

^2:5“‘Mi Pacto fue con él de vida y de paz, y estas cosas yo le di por su temor: porque me temió, y delante de mi Nombre estuvo humillado. ^2:6La Ley de verdad estuvo en su boca, e iniquidad no fue hallada en sus labios; en paz y en justicia anduvo conmigo, y a muchos hizo apartar de la iniquidad: ^2:7porque los labios del sacerdote han de guardar la sabiduría, y de su boca buscarán la Ley: porque él es el mensajero de Jehová de los ejércitos’”.

^2:8“‘Pero ustedes os habéis apartado del camino; habéis hecho tropezar a muchos en la Ley; habéis corrompido el Pacto de Leví,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

^2:9“‘Por tanto, yo también os he hecho despreciables y bajos ante todo el pueblo, así como ustedes no habéis guardado mis caminos, y en la Ley hacéis acepción de personas’”.

¶El complemento   Judá y Leví había sido traicionero contra Jehová y contra sus propias esposas (2:10 - 16)

^2:10¿No tenemos todos un mismo padre? ¿No nos ha creado un mismo Dios? ¿Por qué menospreciaremos cada uno a su hermano, quebrantando el Pacto de nuestros padres?

^2:11“‘Prevaricó Judá, y en Israel y en Jerusalén se ha cometido abominación: porque Judá ha profanado la santidad de Jehová, que él amó, y se casó con la hija de un dios extraño. ^2:12Jehová cortará de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que hiciere esto, al que vela, y al que responde, y al que ofrece presente a Jehová de los ejércitos.

^2:13“‘Y esta otra vez haréis cubrir el altar de Jehová de lágrimas, de llanto, y de clamor; así que no miraré más a la ofrenda, para aceptarla con gusto de vuestra mano. ^2:14Pero diréis, ‘¿Por qué?’. Porque Jehová ha sido testigo entre ti y la esposa de tu juventud, contra la cual tú has sido desleal, aun siendo ella tu compañera y la esposa de tu Pacto’”.

^2:15“‘¿No hizo él uno, aunque tenía el remanente del espíritu? ¿Y por qué uno? Para que procurara una simiente de Dios. Guardaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu, y no seáis desleales contra la esposa de vuestra juventud.

^2:16“‘Porque Jehová Dios de Israel dice que él aborrece el divorcio; y al que cubre la violencia con su vestidura, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Guardaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu, y no seáis desleales’”.

¶Único   La venida del Mensajero del Pacto purificará a los hijos de Leví (2:17 - 3:6)

^2:17“‘Habéis cansado a Jehová con vuestras palabras. Y diréis, ‘¿En qué le hemos cansado?’ Cuando decís, ‘Cualquiera que hace mal agrada a Jehová, y en los tales él toma contentamiento’; de otra manera, ‘¿Dónde está el Dios de juicio?’.

^3:1“‘He aquí, yo envío mi Mensajero, el cual preparará el camino delante de mí; y vendrá repentinamente a su Templo el Señor a quien ustedes buscáis, y el mensajero del Pacto, a quien deseáis ustedes. He aquí viene,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos”.

^3:2“‘¿Y quién podrá permanecer en el Día de su venida? ¿O quién podrá sostenerse en pie cuando él se manifieste? Porque él es como fuego purificador, y como jabón de lavadores. ^3:3Y él se sentará como refinador y purificador de plata y purificará a los hijos de Leví, y los refinará como a oro y como a plata, para que ofrezcan a Jehová ofrenda en justicia.

^3:4“‘Entonces será grata a Jehová la ofrenda de Judá y de Jerusalén, como en los días pasados, y como en los años antiguos. ^3:5Y vendré a ustedes a juicio; y seré pronto testigo contra los hechiceros y adúlteros; y contra los que juran mentira, y los que defraudan en su salario al jornalero, a la viuda y al huérfano, y contra los que privan de su derecho al extranjero, no teniendo temor de mí, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

^3:10“‘Traed todos los diezmos al alfolí, y haya alimento en mi casa; y probadme ahora en esto,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos: ‘si no os abriré las ventanas de los Cielo, y derramaré sobre ustedes bendición hasta que sobreabunde.

^3:11“‘Reprenderé también por ustedes al devorador, y no os destruirá el fruto de vuestra tierra; ni vuestra vid en el campo abortará,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

^3:18“‘Entonces os volveréis, y discerniréis la diferencia entre el justo y el impío, entre el que sirve a Dios y el que no le sirve: ^4:1porque he aquí, viene el día ardiente como un horno; y todos los soberbios, y todos los que hacen maldad, serán estopa; y aquel día vendrá y los abrasará,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘el cual no les dejará ni raíz ni rama.

^4:2“‘Pero para ustedes los que teméis mi Nombre, nacerá el Sol de Justicia, y en sus alas traerá salvación; y saldréis, y saltaréis como becerros de la manada. ^4:3Y hollaréis a los malos, los cuales serán ceniza bajo las plantas de vuestros pies, en el Día en que yo haré esto,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

^4:4“‘Acordaos de la Ley de Moisés mi siervo, al cual encargué en Horeb ordenanzas y Leyes para todo Israel. ^4:5He aquí, yo os envío a Elías el Profeta, antes de la llegada del Día de Jehová grande y terrible. ^4:6Él convertirá el corazón de los padres hacia los hijos, y el corazón de los hijos hacia los padres; no sea que yo venga y hiera la tierra con maldición’”.
