Kings, Chapter 2.1: The Prophets Elijah and Micaiah pronounced Judgment upon the house of Ahab king of Israel (1 Kings 21:1 - 2 Kings 2:25)

^21:4And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he laid himself down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would not eat bread.

^21:5But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him, “Why is your spirit so sad, that you do not eat bread?” ^21:6And he said to her, “Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him, ‘Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it’; and he answered, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’”

^21:7And Jezebel his wife said to him, “Do you now govern the kingdom of Israel? Arise and eat bread, and let your heart be merry; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.” ^21:8So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth. ^21:9And she wrote in the letters, saying, “Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people; ^21:10and set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, ‘You blasphemed God and the king.’ And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.” ^21:11And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, and as it was written in the letters that she had sent to them. ^21:12They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. ^21:13And two men, children of Belial, came in and sat before him; and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth blasphemed God and the king.” Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

^21:14Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, “Naboth has been stoned, and is dead.” ^21:15And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, “Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.”

^21:16And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

^21:17And the Word of Jehovah came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ^21:18“Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria; behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone down to possess it. ^21:19And you shall speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says Jehovah: ‘Have you killed, and also taken possession?’’ And you shall speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says Jehovah: ‘In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick your blood, even yours.’’”

^21:20And Ahab said to Elijah, “Have you found me, O my enemy?” And he answered, “I have found you, because you have sold yourself to work evil in the sight of Jehovah. ^21:21‘Behold, I will bring evil upon you, and will take away your posterity, and will cut off from Ahab every male, and him that is shut up and left in Israel; ^21:22and will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation with which you have provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.’

^21:23And Jehovah also spoke of Jezebel, saying, ‘The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. ^21:24Him that dies of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dies in the field shall the birds of the air eat. ^21:25But there was none like Ahab, who sold himself to work wickedness in the sight of Jehovah, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. ^21:26And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as the Amorites did, whom Jehovah cast out before the children of Israel.’”

^21:27And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he tore his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly. ^21:28And the Word of Jehovah came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ^21:29“Do you see how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days; but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.”

^22:1And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel. ^22:2And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel. ^22:3And the king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we are still, and do not take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?” ^22:4And he said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead?” And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.” ^22:5And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire at the Word of Jehovah today.” ^22:6Then the king of Israel gathered the false prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” And they said, “Go up: for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king!” ^22:7And Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we might inquire of him?” ^22:8And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of Jehovah; but I hate him: for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say so.” ^22:9Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, “Hurry here Micaiah the son of Imlah.” ^22:10And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the false prophets prophesied before them. ^22:11And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron; and he said, “Thus says Jehovah: ‘With these shall you push the Syrians, until you have consumed them.’” ^22:12And all the false prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for Jehovah shall deliver it into the king’s hand.” ^22:13And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth; please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.” ^22:14And Micaiah said, “As Jehovah lives, what Jehovah says to me, that will I speak.”

^22:15So he came to the king. And the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we refrain?” And he answered him, “Go and prosper: for Jehovah shall deliver it into the hand of the king!” ^22:16And the king said to him, “How many times shall I adjure you that you tell me nothing but that which is true in the Name of Jehovah?” ^22:17And he said, “I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have no shepherd; and Jehovah said, ‘These have no master; let them return every man to his house in peace.’” ^22:18And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?” ^22:19And he said, “Therefore hear the Word of Jehovah: ‘I saw Jehovah sitting on his throne, and all the host of Heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. ^22:20And Jehovah said, ‘Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. ^22:21And a spirit came forth, and stood before Jehovah, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’ ^22:22And Jehovah said to him, ‘How?’ And he said, ‘I will go forth; and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And he said, ‘You shall persuade him, and also prevail; go forth, and do so.’ ^22:23Now therefore, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and Jehovah has spoken evil concerning you.”

^22:24But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way went the Spirit of Jehovah from me to speak to you?” ^22:25And Micaiah said, “Behold, you shall see in that day, when you shall go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.” ^22:26And the king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son; ^22:27and say, ‘Thus says the king: ‘Put this man in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.’’” ^22:28And Micaiah said, “If you return at all in peace, Jehovah has not spoken by me.” And he said, “Listen, O people, every one of you.”

^22:29So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead. ^22:30And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but you put on your robes.” And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle. ^22:31But the king of Syria commanded his thirty-two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, “Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.” ^22:32And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, “Surely it is the king of Israel.” And they turned aside to fight against him; and Jehoshaphat cried out. ^22:33And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

^22:34And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor; therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn your hand, and carry me out of the army: for I am wounded.” ^22:35And the battle increased that day; and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at evening; and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot. ^22:36And a proclamation went throughout the army about the going down of the sun, saying, “Every man go to his city, and every man to his own country.” ^22:37So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria. ^22:38And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood, and they washed his armor, according to the Word of Jehovah which he spoke. ^22:39Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? ^22:40So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.

^22:41And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel. ^22:42Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. ^22:43And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father: he did not turn aside from it, doing right in the eyes of Jehovah; nevertheless the high places were not taken away: for the people offered and burned incense still in the high places.

^22:44And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

^22:45Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he made war, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? ^22:46And the remainder of the homosexuals, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land. ^22:47There was then no native-born king in Edom: a deputy was king.

^22:48Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold; but they did not go: for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber. ^22:49Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, “Let my servants go with your servants in the ships.” But Jehoshaphat would not.

^22:50And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Jehoram his son reigned in his place.

^2KINGS1:1Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab. ^1:2And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick; and he sent messengers, and said to them, “Go, inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.”

^1:3But the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them, ‘Is it not because the true God is not in Israel, that you go to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? ^1:4Now therefore thus says Jehovah: ‘You shall not come down from that bed on which you have gone up, but shall certainly die.’’” And Elijah departed.

^1:5And when the messengers turned back to him, he said to them, “Why have you now turned back?” ^1:6And they said to him, “A man came up to meet us, and said to us, ‘Go, turn again to the king that sent you, and say to him, ‘Thus says Jehovah: ‘Is it not because the true God is not in Israel, that you send to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? Therefore you shall not come down from that bed on which you have gone up, but shall certainly die.’’’”

^1:7And he said to them, “What kind of man was he that came up to meet you, and told you these words?” ^1:8And they answered him, “He was a hairy man, and girded with a belt of leather about his waist.” And he said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.”

And he answered and said to him, “O man of God, thus has the king said, ‘Come down quickly!’” ^1:12And Elijah answered and said to them, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from Heaven, and consume you and your fifty soldiers.” And the fire of God came down from Heaven, and consumed him and his fifty soldiers. ^1:13And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty soldiers. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and implored him, and said to him, “O man of God, please, let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight. ^1:14Behold, fire came down from Heaven, and burned up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties; therefore let my life now be precious in your sight.”

^1:15And the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah, “Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.” And he arose, and went down with him to the king.

^1:16And he said to him, “Thus says Jehovah: ‘Forasmuch as you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, is it not because the true God is not in Israel to inquire of his Word? Therefore you shall not come down off that bed on which you have gone up, but shall certainly die.’”

^1:17So he died according to the Word of Jehovah that Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his place in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, because he had no son.

^2:3And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha; and they said to him, “Do you know that Jehovah will take away your master from your head today?” And he said, “Yes, I know it; hold your peace.” ^2:4And Elijah said to him, “Elisha, wait here, please: for Jehovah has sent me to Jericho.” And he said, “As Jehovah lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.

^2:5And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha; and they said to him, “Do you know that Jehovah will take away your master from your head today?” And he answered, “Yes, I know it; hold your peace.” ^2:6And Elijah said to him, “Please wait here: for Jehovah has sent me to Jordan.” And he said, “As Jehovahlives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” And they two went on.

^2:15And when the sons of the prophets who were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, “The Spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

^2:16And they said to him, “Behold now, there are fifty strong men with your servants. Please, let them go and seek your master, lest perhaps the Spirit of Jehovah has taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley.” And he said, “You shall not send.”

^2:17And when they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “Send.” Therefore they sent fifty men; and they searched three days, but did not find him. ^2:18And when they came again to him (for he waited at Jericho), he said to them, “Did I not say to you, ‘Do not go?’”

^2:23And he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, little children came forth out of the city; and they mocked him; and they said to him, “Go up, you bald head; go up, you bald head!”

^2:24And he turned back, and looked on them; and he pronounced a curse on them in the Name of Jehovah. And two she bears came forth out of the woods, and mauled forty-two children of them.

^2:25And from there he went to mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.

§Único   Introducción: La incautación de la tierra de Nabot por Acab y Jezabel resultó en el Juicio de Dios sobre ellos mismos (1 Reyes 21:1 - 29)

¶Lo opuesto   Acab y Jezabel asesinaron a Nabot de Jezreelita y tomaron su viñedo (1 Reyes 21:1 - 15)

^21:1Pasadas estas cosas, aconteció que Nabot de Jezreel tenía en Jezreel una viña junto al palacio de Acab rey de Samaria. ^21:2Y Acab habló a Nabot, diciendo, “Dame tu viña para un huerto de legumbres: porque está cercana a mi casa, y yo te daré por ella otra viña mejor que ésta; o si mejor te pareciere, te pagaré su valor en dinero”. ^21:3Y Nabot respondió a Acab, “Guárdeme Jehová de que yo te dé a ti la heredad de mis padres”.

^21:4Y vino Acab a su casa, triste y enojado por la palabra que Nabot de Jezreel le había respondido, diciendo, “No te daré la heredad de mis padres”. Y se acostó en su cama, y volvió su rostro, y no comió pan.

^21:5Y vino a él su esposa Jezabel, y le dijo, “¿Por qué está tan triste tu espíritu, y no comes pan?”. ^21:6Y él respondió, “Porque hablé con Nabot de Jezreel, y le dije que me diera su viña por dinero, o que, si más quería, le daría otra viña por ella; y él respondió, ‘Yo no te daré mi viña’”.

^21:7Y su esposa Jezabel le dijo, “¿Reinas tú ahora sobre Israel? Levántate, y come pan, y alégrate; yo te daré la viña de Nabot de Jezreel”. ^21:8Entonces ella escribió cartas en nombre de Acab, y las selló con su anillo y las envió a los ancianos y a los principales que moraban en su ciudad con Nabot. ^21:9Y las cartas que escribió decían así, “Proclamad ayuno, y poned a Nabot a la cabecera del pueblo; ^21:10y poned a dos hombres hijos de Belial delante de él, que atestigüen contra él, y digan, ‘Tú has blasfemado a Dios y al rey’. Y entonces sacadlo, y apedreadlo para que muera”. ^21:11Y los de su ciudad, los ancianos y los principales que moraban en su ciudad, hicieron como Jezabel les mandó, conforme a lo escrito en las cartas que ella les había enviado. ^21:12Y promulgaron ayuno, y asentaron a Nabot a la cabecera del pueblo. ^21:13Vinieron entonces dos hombres, hijos de Belial, y se sentaron delante de él; y aquellos hombres de Belial atestiguaron contra Nabot delante del pueblo, diciendo, “Nabot ha blasfemado a Dios y al rey”. Y lo sacaron fuera de la ciudad, y lo apedrearon con piedras, y murió.

^21:14Después enviaron a decir a Jezabel, “Nabot ha sido apedreado y ha muerto”. ^21:15Y como Jezabel oyó que Nabot había sido apedreado y muerto, dijo a Acab, “Levántate y posee la viña de Nabot de Jezreel, que no te la quiso dar por dinero: porque Nabot no vive, sino que ha muerto”.

¶Lo opuesto   Jehová envió a Elías a pronunciar juicio sobre la casa de Acab (1 Reyes 21:16 - 21:29)

^21:16Y sucedió que cuando oyó Acab que Nabot había muerto, se levantó para descender a la viña de Nabot de Jezreel, para tomar posesión de ella.

^21:17Entonces vino Palabra de Jehová a Elías Tisbita, diciendo, ^21:18“Levántate, desciende a encontrarte con Acab rey de Israel, que está en Samaria; he aquí él está en la viña de Nabot, a la cual ha descendido para tomar posesión de ella. ^21:19Y le hablarás diciendo, ‘Así dice Jehová, ‘¿No mataste, y también has despojado?’’ Y volverás a hablarle, diciendo, ‘Así dice Jehová, ‘En el lugar donde los perros lamieron la sangre de Nabot, los perros lamerán también tu sangre, tu misma sangre’”.

^21:20Y Acab dijo a Elías, “¿Me has hallado, enemigo mío?”. Y él respondió, “Te he encontrado: porque te has vendido a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová. ^21:21‘He aquí yo traigo mal sobre ti, y barreré tu posteridad, y yo talaré de Acab todos los varones, al guardado y al desamparado en Israel; ^21:22y yo pondré tu casa como la casa de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, y como la casa de Baasa hijo de Ahías; por la provocación con que me provocaste a ira, y con que has hecho pecar a Israel’.

^21:23De Jezabel también ha hablado Jehová, diciendo, ‘Los perros comerán a Jezabel en el muro de Jezreel. ^21:24El que de Acab fuere muerto en la ciudad, perros le comerán; y el que fuere muerto en el campo, lo comerán las aves del cielo. ^21:25Pero ninguno fue como Acab, quien se vendió a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová: porque Jezabel su esposa lo incitaba. ^21:26Él fue en gran manera abominable, caminando en pos de los ídolos, conforme a todo lo que hicieron los amorreos, a los cuales lanzó Jehová de delante de los hijos de Israel’”.

^21:27Y aconteció que cuando Acab oyó estas palabras, rasgó sus vestiduras, y puso cilicio sobre su carne, y ayunó, y durmió en cilicio, y anduvo humillado. ^21:28Entonces vino Palabra de Jehová a Elías Tisbita, diciendo, ^21:29“¿No has visto como Acab se ha humillado delante de mí? Pues por cuanto se ha humillado delante de mí, no traeré el mal en sus días; en los días de su hijo traeré el mal sobre su casa”.

§El complemento   Cuerpo: Jehová trajo el mal sobre Acab y su hijo Ocozías a través del ministerio de los profetas Micaías y Elías (1 Reyes 22:9 - 2 Reyes 2:10)

¶Lo opuesto   El profeta Micaías profetizó la muerte de Acab en el campo de batalla con los sirios en Ramot de Galaad, y se cumplió (1 Reyes 22:9 - 22:40)

^22:1Tres años pasaron sin guerra entre los Sirios e Israel. ^22:2Y aconteció al tercer año, que Josafat rey de Judá descendió al rey de Israel. ^22:3Y el rey de Israel dijo a sus siervos, “¿No sabéis que Ramot de Galaad es nuestra, y nosotros no hemos hecho nada para tomarla de mano del rey de Siria?”. ^22:4Y dijo a Josafat, “¿Quieres venir conmigo a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad?”. Y Josafat respondió al rey de Israel, ‘Soy como tú, y mi pueblo como tu pueblo, y mis caballos como tus caballos”. ^22:5Y dijo luego Josafat al rey de Israel, “Yo te ruego que consultes hoy la Palabra de Jehová”. ^22:6Entonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, como cuatrocientos hombres, a los cuales dijo, “¿Iré a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaré?”. Y dijeron, “¡Sube: porque el Señor la entregará en mano del rey!”. ^22:7Y dijo Josafat, “¿No hay un profeta de Jehová aquí además de ellos, que podríamos consultarle?”. ^22:8Y el rey de Israel respondió a Josafat, “Aún hay un varón por el cual podríamos consultar a Jehová, Micaías, hijo de Imla; pero yo le aborrezco: porque nunca me profetiza bien, sino solamente mal”. Y Josafat dijo, “No hable el rey así”. ^22:9Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial, y le dijo, “Trae pronto a Micaías hijo de Imla”. ^22:10Y el rey de Israel y Josafat rey de Judá estaban sentados cada uno en su trono, vestidos de sus ropas reales, en la plaza junto a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria; y todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos. ^22:11Y Sedequías hijo de Quenaana se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro, y dijo, “Así dice Jehová, ‘Con éstos acornearás a los Sirios hasta acabarlos’”. ^22:12Y todos los profetas profetizaban de la misma manera, diciendo, “Sube a Ramot de Galaad, y serás prosperado; que Jehová la dará en mano del rey”. ^22:13Y el mensajero que había ido a llamar a Micaías, le habló, diciendo, “He aquí las palabras de los profetas a una boca anuncian al rey el bien; sea ahora tu palabra conforme a la palabra de alguno de ellos, y anuncia el bien”. ^22:14Y Micaías respondió, “Vive Jehová, que lo que Jehová me hablare, eso diré”.

^22:15Vino, pues, al rey; y el rey le dijo, “Micaías, ¿iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaremos?”. Y él respondió, “¡Sube, que serás prosperado, y Jehová la entregará en mano del rey!”. ^22:16Y el rey le dijo, “¿Hasta cuántas veces he de hacerte jurar que no me digas sino la verdad en el Nombre de Jehová?”. ^22:17Entonces él dijo, “Yo vi a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas que no tienen pastor; y Jehová dijo, ‘Éstos no tienen señor; vuélvase cada uno a su casa en paz’”. ^22:18Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat, “¿No te lo había yo dicho? Ninguna cosa buena profetizará él acerca de mí, sino solamente mal”. ^22:19Entonces él dijo, “Oye, pues, Palabra de Jehová: ‘Yo vi a Jehová sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército del Cielo estaba junto a él, a su derecha y a su izquierda. ^22:20Y Jehová dijo, ‘¿Quién inducirá a Acab, para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad?’ Y uno decía de una manera; y otro decía de otra. ^22:21Y salió un espíritu, y se puso delante de Jehová, y dijo, ‘Yo le induciré’. ^22:22Y Jehová le dijo, ‘¿De qué manera?’ Y él dijo, ‘Yo saldré, y seré espíritu de mentira en boca de todos sus profetas’. Y él dijo, ‘Tú le inducirás, y prevalecerás; ve, pues, y hazlo así’. ^22:23Y ahora, he aquí Jehová ha puesto espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos estos tus profetas, y Jehová ha decretado el mal acerca de ti”.

^22:24Pero Sedequías hijo de Quenaana, se acercó, e hirió a Micaías en la mejilla, diciendo, “¿Por dónde se fue de mí el Espíritu de Jehová para hablarte a ti?”. ^22:25Y Micaías respondió, “He aquí tú lo verás en aquel día, cuando te irás metiendo de cámara en cámara para esconderte”. ^22:26Entonces el rey de Israel dijo, “Toma a Micaías, y vuélvelo a Amón gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás hijo del rey; ^22:27y dirás, ‘Así ha dicho el rey: Echad a éste en la cárcel, y mantenedle con pan de angustia y con agua de aflicción, hasta que yo vuelva en paz’”. ^22:28Y dijo Micaías, “Si llegares a volver en paz, Jehová no ha hablado por mí”. En seguida dijo, “Oíd, pueblos todos”.

^22:29Subió, pues, el rey de Israel con Josafat rey de Judá a Ramot de Galaad. ^22:30Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat, “Yo me disfrazaré, y entraré en la batalla; y tú ponte tus vestiduras”. Y el rey de Israel se disfrazó, y entró en la batalla. ^22:31Pero el rey de Siria había mandado a sus treinta y dos capitanes de los carros, diciendo, “No peleéis ni con grande ni con chico, sino sólo contra el rey de Israel”. ^22:32Y sucedió que cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron, “Ciertamente éste es el rey de Israel”. Y se desviaron para pelear contra él; pero el rey Josafat dio voces. ^22:33Viendo entonces los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, se apartaron de él.

^22:34Y un hombre disparando su arco a la ventura, hirió al rey de Israel por entre las junturas de la armadura; por lo que dijo él a su carretero, “Da la vuelta y sácame del campo, pues estoy herido”. ^22:35Pero la batalla había arreciado aquel día, y el rey estuvo en su carro delante de los Sirios, y a la tarde murió; y la sangre de la herida corrió hasta el fondo del carro. ^22:36Y a la puesta del sol salió un pregón por el campamento que decía, “¡Cada uno a su ciudad, y cada cual a su tierra!”. ^22:37Murió, pues, el rey, y fue traído a Samaria; y sepultaron al rey en Samaria. ^22:38Y lavaron el carro en el estanque de Samaria; lavaron también sus armas; y los perros lamieron su sangre, conforme a la Palabra de Jehová que había hablado. ^22:39Los demás hechos de Acab, y todas las cosas que hizo, y la casa de marfil que construyó, y todas las ciudades que edificó, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel? ^22:40Y durmió Acab con sus padres, y reinó en su lugar Ocozías su hijo.

¶Lo opuesto   Josafat, rey de Judá, hizo las paces con Israel, pero no reconcilia plenamente con ellos (1 Reyes 22:41 - 50)

^22:41Y Josafat hijo de Asa comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el cuarto año de Acab rey de Israel. ^22:42Y era Josafat de treinta y cinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Azuba hija de Silhi. ^22:43Y anduvo en todo el camino de Asa su padre, sin declinar de él, haciendo lo recto en los ojos de Jehová. Con todo eso, los lugares altos no fueron quitados; pues el pueblo aún sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en los lugares altos.

^22:44Y Josafat hizo paz con el rey de Israel.

^22:45Los demás de los hechos de Josafat, y sus hazañas, y las guerras que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? ^22:46Barrió también de la tierra el resto de los sodomitas que habían quedado en el tiempo de su padre Asa. ^22:47No había entonces rey en Edom; había gobernador en lugar de rey.

^22:48Había Josafat hecho navíos en Tarsis, los cuales habían de ir a Ofir por oro; pero no fueron: porque se rompieron en Ezión-geber. ^22:49Entonces Ocozías hijo de Acab dijo a Josafat, “Vayan mis siervos con los tuyos en los navíos”. Pero Josafat no quiso.

^22:50Y durmió Josafat con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David su padre; y en su lugar reinó Joram su hijo.

¶El complemento   Ocozías envió mensajeros para rezar a Baal-zebub, pero Elías los recibió con un mensaje de juicio de Jehová (1 Reyes 22:51 - 2 Reyes 1:8)

^22:51Y Ocozías hijo de Acab comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria, el año diecisiete de Josafat rey de Judá; y reinó dos años sobre Israel. ^22:52E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y anduvo en el camino de su padre, y en el camino de su madre, y en el camino de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, que hizo pecar a Israel: ^22:53porque sirvió a Baal, y lo adoró, y provocó a ira a Jehová Dios de Israel, conforme a todas las cosas que su padre había hecho.

^{2REYES 1:1}Después de la muerte de Acab, se rebeló Moab contra Israel. ^1:2Y Ocozías cayó por las celosías de una sala de la casa que tenía en Samaria; y estando enfermo envió mensajeros, y les dijo, “Id, y consultad a Baal-zebub dios de Ecrón, si he de sanar de esta mi enfermedad”.

^1:3Entonces el ángel de Jehová habló a Elías Tisbita, diciendo, “Levántate, y sube a encontrarte con los mensajeros del rey de Samaria, y diles, ‘¿Acaso no hay Dios en Israel, para que vayáis a consultar a Baal-zebub dios de Ecrón? ^1:4Por tanto, así dice Jehová, ‘Del lecho en que subiste no descenderás, antes morirás ciertamente’’”. Y Elías se fue.

^1:5Y cuando los mensajeros se volvieron al rey, él les dijo, “¿Por qué os habéis vuelto?”. ^1:6Y le respondieron, “Encontramos un varón que nos dijo, ‘Id, y volveos al rey que os envió, y decidle, ‘Así dice Jehová, ‘¿Acaso no hay Dios en Israel, que tú envías a consultar a Baal-zebub dios de Ecrón? Por tanto, del lecho en que subiste no descenderás, sino que de cierto morirás’’”.

^1:7Entonces él les dijo, “¿Cómo era aquel varón que encontrasteis, y os dijo tales palabras?”. ^1:8Y le respondieron, “Un varón velludo, y ceñía sus lomos con un cinto de cuero”. Entonces él dijo, “Es Elías Tisbita”.

¶El complemento   Ocozías envió tres pelotones grandes de cincuenta soldados cada uno para arrestar a Elías, pero fallaron (2 Reyes 1:9 - 18)

^1:9Entonces el rey envió a él un capitán de cincuenta con sus cincuenta, el cual subió a él; y he aquí que él estaba sentado en la cumbre del monte. Y él le dijo, “Varón de Dios, el rey dice ‘¡Que desciendas!’” ^1:10Y Elías respondió, y dijo al capitán de cincuenta, “Si yo soy varón de Dios, descienda fuego del Cielo, y te consuma con tus cincuenta”. Y descendió fuego del Cielo, que lo consumió a él y a sus cincuenta. ^1:11Volvió el rey a enviar a él otro capitán de cincuenta con sus cincuenta; y le habló, y dijo, “Varón de Dios, el rey ha dicho así, ‘¡Desciende pronto!’” ^1:12Y les respondió Elías, y dijo, “Si yo soy varón de Dios, descienda fuego del Cielo, y te consuma con tus cincuenta”. Y el fuego de Dios descendió del Cielo y lo consumió a él y a sus cincuenta. ^1:13Y volvió a enviar el tercer capitán de cincuenta con sus cincuenta: y subiendo aquel tercer capitán de cincuenta, se hincó de rodillas delante de Elías, y le rogó, diciendo, “Varón de Dios, te ruego que sea de valor delante de tus ojos mi vida, y la vida de estos tus cincuenta siervos. ^1:14He aquí ha descendido fuego del Cielo, y ha consumido a los dos primeros capitanes de cincuenta con sus cincuenta; sea ahora mi vida de valor delante de tus ojos”.

^1:15Entonces el ángel de Jehová dijo a Elías, “Desciende con él; no tengas miedo de él”. Y él se levantó, y descendió con él al rey.

^1:16Y le dijo, “Así dice Jehová, ‘Por cuanto enviaste mensajeros a consultar a Baal-zebub dios de Ecrón, ¿acaso no hay Dios en Israel para consultar en su Palabra? Por tanto, no descenderás del lecho en que subiste, sino que de cierto morirás’”.

^1:17Y murió conforme a la Palabra de Jehová que había hablado Elías; y reinó en su lugar Joram, en el segundo año de Joram, hijo de Josafat rey de Judá: porque Ocozías no tenía hijo.

^1:18Y los demás hechos de Ocozías, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

¶Único   Eliseo pidió una porción doble del Espíritu de Elías antes de irse (2 Reyes 2:1 - 2:10)

^2:1Y aconteció que cuando quiso Jehová alzar a Elías en un torbellino al Cielo, Elías venía con Eliseo de Gilgal. ^2:2Y dijo Elías a Eliseo, “Quédate ahora aquí: porque Jehová me ha enviado a Betel”. Y Eliseo dijo, “Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré”. Descendieron, pues, a Betel.

^2:3Y saliendo a Eliseo los hijos de los Profetas que estaban en Betel, le dijeron, “¿Sabes que Jehová quitará hoy a tu señor de sobre tu cabeza?”. Y él dijo, “Sí, yo lo sé; callad”. ^2:4Y Elías le volvió a decir, “Eliseo, quédate aquí ahora: porque Jehová me ha enviado a Jericó”. Y él dijo, “Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré”. Vinieron, pues, a Jericó.

^2:5Y los hijos de los Profetas que estaban en Jericó vinieron a Eliseo, y le dijeron, “¿Sabes que Jehová quitará hoy a tu señor de sobre tu cabeza?”. Y él respondió, “Sí, yo lo sé; callad”. ^2:6Y Elías le dijo, “Te ruego que te quedes aquí: porque Jehová me ha enviado al Jordán”. Y él dijo, “Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré”. Fueron, pues, los dos.

^2:7Y vinieron cincuenta varones de los hijos de los Profetas, y se pararon enfrente a lo lejos; y ellos dos se pararon junto al Jordán. ^2:8Tomando entonces Elías su manto, lo dobló, y golpeó las aguas, las cuales se apartaron a uno y a otro lado, y pasaron ambos en seco.

^2:9Y sucedió que cuando habían pasado, Elías dijo a Eliseo, “Pide lo que quieres que haga por ti, antes que sea quitado de tu lado”. Y dijo Eliseo, “Te ruego que una doble porción de tu Espíritu sea sobre mí”. ^2:10Y él le dijo, “Cosa difícil has pedido. Si me vieres cuando fuere quitado de ti, te será así hecho; pero si no, no”.

§El complemento   Conclusión: Elías dejó a Eliseo con una doble porción de su Espíritu, y Eliseo comenzó a ejercer su autoridad como profeta de Dios (2 Reyes 2:11 - 25)

¶El complemento   Eliseo asumió el manto de Elías, pero fue frustrado por los hijos de los profetas que insistieron en buscando a Elías (2 Reyes 2:11 - 18)

^2:11Y aconteció que yendo ellos y hablando, he aquí, apareció un carro de fuego con caballos de fuego que apartó a los dos; y Elías subió al Cielo en un torbellino. ^2:12Y viéndolo Eliseo, clamaba, “¡Padre mío, padre mío, carro de Israel y su gente de a caballo!”. Y nunca más le vio.

Y trabando de sus vestiduras, las rompió en dos partes. ^2:13Alzó luego el manto de Elías que se le había caído, y volvió, y se paró a la orilla del Jordán. ^2:14Y tomando el manto de Elías que se le había caído, golpeó las aguas, y dijo, “¿Dónde está Jehová, el Dios de Elías?”. Y así que hubo del mismo modo golpeado las aguas, se apartaron a uno y a otro lado, y pasó Eliseo.

^2:15Y viéndole los hijos de los Profetas que estaban en Jericó al otro lado, dijeron, “El Espíritu de Elías reposa sobre Eliseo”. Y vinieron a recibirle, y se inclinaron a tierra delante de él.

^2:16Y le dijeron, “He aquí hay con tus siervos cincuenta varones fuertes; vayan ahora y busquen a tu señor; quizá lo ha levantado el Espíritu de Jehová, y lo ha echado en algún monte o en algún valle”. Y él les dijo, “No enviéis”.

^2:17Pero ellos le importunaron, hasta que avergonzándose, dijo, “Enviad”. Entonces ellos enviaron cincuenta hombres, los cuales lo buscaron tres días, pero no lo hallaron. ^2:18Y cuando volvieron a él (pues él se había quedado en Jericó), él les dijo, “¿No os dije yo que no fueseis?”.

¶El complemento   Eliseo sanó las aguas de Jericó, pero pronunció una maldición sobre 42 niños que se burlaron de él (2 Reyes 2:19 - 2:25)

^2:19Y los hombres de la ciudad dijeron a Eliseo, “He aquí el lugar donde está situada la ciudad es bueno, como mi señor ve; pero las aguas son malas, y la tierra es estéril”.

^2:20Entonces él dijo, “Traedme una vasija nueva, y poned sal en ella”. Y se la trajeron. ^2:21Y saliendo él a los manantiales de las aguas, echó dentro la sal, y dijo, “Así dice Jehová, ‘Yo sané estas aguas, y no habrá más en ellas muerte ni esterilidad’”. ^2:22Y fueron sanas las aguas hasta hoy, conforme a la palabra que habló Eliseo.

^2:23Después subió de allí a Betel; y subiendo por el camino, salieron los muchachos de la ciudad, y se burlaban de él, diciendo, “¡Calvo, sube! ¡calvo, sube!”.

^2:24Y mirando él atrás, los vio, y los maldijo en el Nombre de Jehová. Y salieron dos osas del monte, y despedazaron de ellos a cuarenta y dos muchachos.

^2:25De allí fue al monte Carmelo, y de allí volvió a Samaria.
