He did much evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger. ^33:7And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the House of God; of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this House, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my Name forever; ^33:8neither will I anymore remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers, so long as they take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole Law and the Statutes and the Ordinances by the hand of Moses.” ^33:9So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to wander from God, and to do worse than the heathen, whom Jehovah had destroyed before the children of Israel.

^33:10And Jehovah spoke to Manasseh and to his people; but they would not listen; ^33:11therefore Jehovah brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria; which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. ^33:12And when he was in affliction, he implored Jehovah his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers; ^33:13and he prayed to him; and he was entreated of him; and he heard his supplication. And he brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that Jehovah, he was the true God.

^33:14Now after this he built a wall outside the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and circled around Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fortified cities of Judah. ^33:15And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the House of Jehovah, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the House of Jehovah, and in Jerusalem; and he cast them out of the city. ^33:16And he repaired the altar of Jehovah, and sacrificed on it peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve Jehovah God of Israel. ^33:17Nevertheless the people still sacrificed in the high places, yet only to Jehovah their God.

^33:18Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers that spoke to him in the Name of Jehovah God of Israel: behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel. ^33:19His prayer also, and how God was entreated of him, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places where he built high places, and set up images of Asherah and carved images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers. ^33:20So Manasseh slept with his fathers; and they buried him in his own house; and Amon his son reigned in his place.

^33:25But the people of the land executed all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.

And in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, the images of Asherah, the carved images, and the molten images. ^34:4And they broke down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the images of Asherah, and the carved images, and the molten images, he broke in pieces; and he made dust of them, and scattered it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed to them. ^34:5And he burned the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem. ^34:6And he did likewise in the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their swords round about. ^34:7And when he had broken down the altars and the images of Asherah, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.

^34:8Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the House of God, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the House of Jehovah his God. ^34:9And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the House of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.

^34:10And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the House of Jehovah, and they gave it to the workmen that worked in the House of Jehovah, to repair and mend the House: ^34:11even to the craftsmen and builders gave they it, to buy sawn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed. ^34:12And the men did the work faithfully; and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and others of the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of music. ^34:13Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and were overseers of all that performed the work in any manner of service; and of the Levites there were scribes, officers, and gatekeepers.

^34:14And when they brought out the money that was brought into the House of Jehovah, Hilkiah the priest found a Book of the Law of Jehovah given by Moses. ^34:15And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the Book of the Law in the House of Jehovah.” And Hilkiah delivered the Book to Shaphan. ^34:16And Shaphan carried the Book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, “All that was committed to your servants, they do it. ^34:17And they have gathered together the money that was found in the House of Jehovah, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.”

^34:18Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a Book.” And Shaphan read it before the king. ^34:19And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the Law, that he tore his clothes. ^34:20And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king’s, saying, ^34:21“Go, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the Book that is found: for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the Word of Jehovah, to do after all that is written in this Book.”

^34:22And Hilkiah, and they that the king had appointed, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the secondary quarter); and they spoke to her to that effect.

^34:23And she answered them, “Thus says Jehovah God of Israel: ‘Tell the man that sent you to me: ^34:24‘Thus says Jehovah: ‘Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon its inhabitants, even all the curses that are written in the Book which they have read before the king of Judah, ^34:25because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.’’”

^34:26“And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Jehovah, so shall you say to him, ‘Thus says Jehovah God of Israel concerning the words which you have heard: ^34:27‘Because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before God, when you heard his words against this place, and against its inhabitants, and humbled yourself before me, and tore your clothes, and wept before me: I have even heard you also,’ says Jehovah. ^34:28‘Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace; neither shall your eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same.’’”

So they brought the king word again. ^34:29Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.

^34:30And the king went up into the House of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small; and he read in their ears all the words of the Book of the Covenant that was found in the House of Jehovah. ^34:31And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before Jehovah: to walk after Jehovah; and to keep his Commandments, and his Testimonies, and his Statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the Covenant which are written in this Book.

^34:32And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to agree to it; and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the Covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

^34:33And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel.

And he made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve Jehovah their God; and all his days they did not depart from following Jehovah God of their fathers.

^35:1Moreover Josiah kept a Passover to Jehovah in Jerusalem; and they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month. ^35:2And he set the priests in their charges; and encouraged them to the service of the House of Jehovah; ^35:3and he said to the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy to Jehovah, “Put the holy Ark in the House which Solomon the son of David king of Israel built; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders. Serve now Jehovah your God, and his people Israel; ^35:4and prepare yourselves by the houses of your fathers, after your divisions, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son. ^35:5And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the families of the fathers of your brethren the people, and after the division of the families of the Levites. ^35:6So kill the Passover sacrifice, and sanctify yourselves; and prepare your brethren, that they may do according to the Word of Jehovah by the hand of Moses.”

^35:7And Josiah gave to the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the Passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand young bulls: these were of the king’s possessions.

^35:8And his princes gave willingly to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the House of God, gave to the priests for the Passover offerings two thousand and six hundred lambs, and three hundred oxen. ^35:9Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave to the Levites for Passover offerings five thousand lambs, and five hundred oxen.

^35:10So the service was prepared; and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their divisions, according to the king’s command. ^35:11And they killed the Passover; and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites skinned them. ^35:12And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer to Jehovah, as it is written in the Book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen. ^35:13And they roasted the Passover with fire according to the Ordinance; but they boiled the other holy offerings in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans; and divided them speedily among all the people. ^35:14And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests, because the sons of Aaron the priests were busy in offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron. ^35:15And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the command of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s Seer. And the gatekeepers waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service: for their brethren the Levites prepared for them. ^35:16So all the service of Jehovah was prepared the same day, to keep the Passover, and to offer burnt offerings upon the altar of Jehovah, according to the command of king Josiah.

^35:17And the children of Israel that were present kept the Passover at that time, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days. ^35:18And no Passover like that was kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a Passover as did Josiah, the priests, the Levites, all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ^35:19In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this Passover kept.

^35:20After all this, when Josiah had prepared the Temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by Euphrates; and Josiah went out against him.

^35:21But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, “What have I to do with you, you king of Judah? I come not against you this day, but against the house with which I have war: for God commanded me to make haste. Forbear from meddling with God, who is with me, so that he does not destroy you.”

^35:22Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him; and did not pay attention to the words of Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo. ^35:23And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, “Take me away: for I am badly wounded.” ^35:24Therefore his servants took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the graves of his fathers.

And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah. ^35:25And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah. And all the singing men and the singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Israel. And, behold, they are written in the lamentations.

^35:26Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his goodness, according to what was written in the Law of Jehovah, ^35:27and his deeds, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

^36:9Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem. And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah. ^36:10And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent; and brought him to Babylon, with the desirable vessels of the House of Jehovah; and he made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

^36:17Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the House of their Sanctuary; and he had no compassion upon young man or virgin, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand. ^36:18And all the vessels of the House of God, great and small, and the treasures of the House of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes: he brought all of these to Babylon. ^36:19And they burned the House of God, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burned all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all its precious vessels.

^36:20And them that had escaped from the sword he carried away to Babylon, where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia, ^36:21to fulfill the Word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her Sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.

^36:22Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the Word of Jehovah spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, ^36:23“Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: ‘Jehovah, the God of Heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has charged me to build him a House in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? Jehovah his God be with him, and let him go up.’”

^33:10Y habló Jehová a Manasés y a su pueblo, pero ellos no escucharon; ^33:11por lo cual Jehová trajo contra ellos los generales del ejército del rey de los asirios, los cuales aprisionaron con grillos a Manasés, y atado con cadenas lo llevaron a Babilonia. ^33:12Pero luego que fue puesto en angustias, oró a Jehová su Dios, humillado grandemente en la presencia del Dios de sus padres. ^33:13Y habiendo orado a él, fue atendido de él, pues oyó su oración, y lo volvió a Jerusalén, a su reino. Entonces conoció Manasés que Jehová era Dios.

^33:14Después de esto edificó el muro de afuera de la ciudad de David, al occidente de Gihón, en el valle, hasta la entrada de la puerta del Pescado; y amuralló Ofel, y levantó el muro muy alto; y puso capitanes del ejército en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá. ^33:15También quitó los dioses ajenos, y sacó el ídolo de la Casa de Jehová, y todos los altares que había edificado en el monte de la Casa de Jehová y en Jerusalén, y los echó fuera de la ciudad. ^33:16Reparó luego el altar de Jehová, y sacrificó sobre él sacrificios de ofrendas de paz y de alabanza; y mandó a Judá que sirviesen a Jehová Dios de Israel. ^33:17Pero el pueblo aún sacrificaba en los lugares altos, aunque sólo a Jehová su Dios.

^33:18Lo demás de los hechos de Manasés, y su oración a su Dios, y las palabras de los videntes que le hablaron en Nombre de Jehová el Dios de Israel, he aquí todo está escrito en los hechos de los reyes de Israel. ^33:19Su oración también, y cómo fue oído, todos sus pecados, y su prevaricación, los lugares donde edificó lugares altos y había puesto imágenes de Asera e ídolos antes que se humillase, he aquí estas cosas están escritas en las palabras de los videntes. ^33:20Y durmió Manasés con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en su casa; y reinó en su lugar Amón su hijo.

¶Lo opuesto   Amón su hijo fue a extremos en su rebelión contra Jehová, pero no se arrepintió y fue asesinado (2 Crónicas 33:21 - 25)

^33:21Veintidós años tenía Amón cuando comenzó a reinar, y dos años reinó en Jerusalén.

^33:22E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, como había hecho Manasés su padre: porque a todos los ídolos que su padre Manasés había hecho, sacrificó y sirvió Amón. ^33:23Pero nunca se humilló delante de Jehová, como se humilló Manasés su padre; antes bien Amón aumentó el pecado.

^33:24Y conspiraron contra él sus siervos;

y ellos le asesinaron en su propia casa.

^33:25Pero el pueblo de la tierra hirió a todos los que habían conspirado contra el rey Amón; y el pueblo de la tierra puso por rey en su lugar a Josías su hijo.

§El complemento   Cuerpo: Josías intentó salvar a Judá desde el Juicio de Dios con reformas externas (2 Crónicas 34:1 - 35:27)

¶Lo opuesto   Josías purgó su Reino de ídolos y reparó el Templo de Jehová (2 Crónicas 34:1 - 13)

^34:1Ocho años tenía Josías cuando comenzó a reinar, y treinta y un años reinó en Jerusalén.

^34:2Éste hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, y anduvo en los caminos de David su padre, sin apartarse a la derecha ni a la izquierda: ^34:3porque en el octavo año de su reinado, siendo aún muchacho, comenzó a buscar al Dios de David su padre.

Y a los doce años comenzó a limpiar a Judá y a Jerusalén de los lugares altos, de las imágenes de Asera, de las esculturas, y de las imágenes de fundición. ^34:4Y derribaron delante de él los altares de los Baales, e hizo pedazos las imágenes del sol, que estaban puestas encima; despedazó también las imágenes de Asera, y las esculturas y estatuas de fundición, y las desmenuzó, y esparció el polvo sobre los sepulcros de los que las habían sacrificado. ^34:5Quemó además los huesos de los sacerdotes sobre sus altares, y limpió a Judá y a Jerusalén. ^34:6Lo mismo hizo en las ciudades de Manasés, Efraín, y Simeón, hasta en Neftalí, con sus lugares asolados alrededor. ^34:7Y cuando hubo derribado los altares y las imágenes de Asera, y quebrado y desmenuzado las esculturas, y destruido todos los ídolos por toda la tierra de Israel, se volvió a Jerusalén.

^34:8A los dieciocho años de su reinado, después de haber limpiado la tierra, y la Casa, envió a Safán hijo de Azalías, y a Maasías gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joah hijo de Joacaz el cronista, para que reparasen la Casa de Jehová su Dios. ^34:9Los cuales vinieron a Hilcías, sumo sacerdote, y dieron el dinero que había sido metido en la Casa de Jehová, que los levitas que guardaban la puerta habían recogido de mano de Manasés y de Efraín y de todo el remanente de Israel, y de todo Judá y Benjamín, habiéndose después vuelto a Jerusalén.

^34:10Y lo entregaron en mano de los que hacían la obra, que eran mayordomos en la Casa de Jehová; los cuales lo daban a los que hacían la obra y trabajaban en la Casa de Jehová, para reparar y restaurar el Templo. ^34:11Daban asimismo a los carpinteros y albañiles para que comprasen piedra de cantería, y madera para las uniones, y para la entabladura de las casas, las cuales habían destruido los reyes de Judá. ^34:12Y estos hombres procedían con fidelidad en la obra; y eran sus mayordomos Jahat y Abdías, levitas de los hijos de Merari; y Zacarías y Mesulam de los hijos de Coat, para que activasen la obra; y de los levitas, todos los entendidos en instrumentos de música. ^34:13También velaban sobre los cargadores y eran mayordomos de los que se ocupaban en cualquier clase de obra; y de los levitas había escribas, oficiales y porteros.

¶Lo opuesto   Jehová le dijo a Josías que su ira contra Judá y Jerusalén no se apagaría (2 Crónicas 34:14 - 28)

^34:14Y al sacar el dinero que había sido traído a la Casa de Jehová, Hilcías el sacerdote halló el Libro de la Ley de Jehová dada por medio de Moisés. ^34:15Y dando cuenta Hilcías, dijo a Safán escriba, “Yo he hallado el Libro de la Ley en la Casa de Jehová”. Y dio Hilcías el Libro a Safán. ^34:16Y Safán lo llevó al rey, y le contó el asunto, diciendo, “Tus siervos han cumplido todo lo que les fue dado a cargo. ^34:17Han reunido el dinero que se halló en la Casa de Jehová, y lo han entregado en mano de los supervisores, y en mano de los que hacen la obra”.

^34:18Además de esto, declaró el escriba Safán al rey, diciendo, “El sacerdote Hilcías me dio un Libro”. Y leyó Safán en él delante del rey. ^34:19Y luego que el rey oyó las palabras de la Ley, rasgó sus vestiduras; ^34:20y mandó a Hilcías y a Ahicam hijo de Safán, y a Abdón hijo de Micaía, y a Safán escriba, y a Asaías siervo del rey, diciendo, ^34:21“Andad, y consultad a Jehová por mí, y por el remanente de Israel y de Judá, acerca de las palabras del libro que se ha hallado: porque grande es el furor de Jehová que ha caído sobre nosotros, por cuanto nuestros padres no guardaron la Palabra de Jehová, para hacer conforme a todo lo que está escrito en este Libro”.

^34:22Entonces Hilcías y los del rey fueron a Hulda profetisa, esposa de Salum, hijo de Ticva, hijo de Hasra, guarda de las vestimentas, la cual moraba en Jerusalén en el segundo barrio; y hablaron con ella acerca de estas palabras.

^34:23Y ella respondió, “Jehová el Dios de Israel dice así: ‘Decid al varón que os ha enviado a mí: ^34:24‘Así dice Jehová: He aquí yo traigo mal sobre este lugar, y sobre los moradores de él, y todas las maldiciones que están escritas en el Libro que leyeron delante del rey de Judá, ^34:25por cuanto me han dejado, y han quemado incienso a dioses ajenos, provocándome a ira con todas las obras de sus manos; por tanto mi furor se derramará sobre este lugar, y no se apagará’’”.

^34:26“Y en cuanto al rey de Judá, quien os ha enviado a consultar a Jehová, así le diréis, ‘Jehová Dios de Israel dice esto acerca de las palabras que has escuchado, ^34:27‘Porque tu corazón era tierno y te humillaste ante Dios, cuando escuchaste sus palabras contra este lugar y contra sus habitantes; y te humillaste delante de mí, y rasgaste tus vestiduras, y lloraste en mi presencia, yo también te he oído,’ dice Jehová. ^34:28‘He aquí que yo te recogeré con tus padres, y serás recogido en tus sepulcros en paz, y tus ojos no verán todo el mal que yo traigo sobre este lugar, y sobre los moradores de él’’”.

¶El complemento   Josías hizo un pacto con Jehová e hizo que el pueblo de Judá para acordar, aunque preferían sus ídolos (2 Crónicas 34:29 - 33)

Y refirieron al rey la respuesta. ^34:29Entonces el rey envió y reunió a todos los ancianos de Judá y de Jerusalén.

^34:30Y subió el rey a la Casa de Jehová, y con él todos los varones de Judá, y los moradores de Jerusalén, y los sacerdotes, y los levitas, y todo el pueblo desde el mayor hasta el más pequeño; y leyó a oídos de ellos todas las palabras del Libro del Pacto que había sido hallado en la Casa de Jehová. ^34:31Y estando el rey en pie en su sitio, hizo pacto delante de Jehová, de caminar en pos de Jehová y de guardar sus Mandamientos, sus Testimonios y sus Estatutos, con todo su corazón y con toda su alma, poniendo por obra las palabras del Pacto que estaban escritas en aquel Libro.

^34:32E hizo que se obligaran a ello todos los que estaban en Jerusalén y en Benjamín; y los moradores de Jerusalén hicieron conforme al Pacto de Dios, del Dios de sus padres.

^34:33Y quitó Josías todas las abominaciones de todas las tierras de los hijos de Israel.

Y hizo a todos los que se hallaban en Israel que sirviesen a Jehová su Dios; no se apartaron de en pos de Jehová el Dios de sus padres, todo el tiempo que él vivió.

¶El complemento   Josías condujo a Judá e Israel en la celebración de la fiesta de la Pascua (2 Crónicas 35:1 - 19)

^35:1Y Josías celebró la Pascua a Jehová en Jerusalén, y sacrificaron la Pascua a los catorce del mes primero. ^35:2Y puso a los sacerdotes en sus cargos, y los confirmó en el ministerio de la Casa de Jehová. ^35:3Y dijo a los levitas que enseñaban a todo Israel, y que estaban dedicados a Jehová, “Poned el arca del santuario en la Casa que edificó Salomón hijo de David, rey de Israel, para que no la carguéis más sobre los hombros. Ahora serviréis a Jehová vuestro Dios, y a su pueblo Israel. ^35:4Preparaos según las familias de vuestros padres, por vuestros grupos, conforme a lo prescrito por David rey de Israel, y de Salomón su hijo. ^35:5Estad en el santuario según la distribución de las familias de vuestros hermanos los hijos del pueblo, y según la división de la familia de los levitas. ^35:6Sacrificad la Pascua, y santificaos, preparad a vuestros hermanos para que hagan conforme a la Palabra de Jehová dada por mano de Moisés”.

^35:7Y el rey Josías dio a los del pueblo ovejas, corderos y cabritos de los rebaños, en número de treinta mil, y tres mil bueyes, todo para la Pascua, para todos los que se hallaban presentes; esto de la hacienda del rey.

^35:8También sus príncipes dieron con liberalidad al pueblo, a los sacerdotes y a los levitas. Hilcías, Zacarías y Jehiel, príncipes de la Casa de Dios, dieron a los sacerdotes para hacer la Pascua dos mil seiscientas ovejas, y trescientos bueyes. ^35:9Asimismo Conanías, y Semaías y Natanael sus hermanos, y Hasabías, Jeiel, y Jozabad, príncipes de los levitas, dieron a los levitas para los sacrificios de la Pascua cinco mil ovejas, y quinientos bueyes.

^35:10Aprestado así el servicio, los sacerdotes se colocaron en sus puestos, y asimismo los levitas en sus órdenes, conforme al mandamiento del rey. ^35:11Y sacrificaron la Pascua; y esparcían los sacerdotes la sangre tomada de mano de los levitas, y los levitas desollaban. ^35:12Tomaron luego del holocausto, para dar conforme a los repartimientos por las familias de los del pueblo, a fin de que ofreciesen a Jehová, según está escrito en el Libro de Moisés; y asimismo tomaron de los bueyes. ^35:13Y asaron la Pascua al fuego según la costumbre; pero lo que había sido santificado lo cocieron en ollas, en calderos, y calderas, y lo repartieron prestamente a todo el pueblo. ^35:14Y después prepararon para sí y para los sacerdotes: porque los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón, estuvieron ocupados hasta la noche en el sacrificio de los holocaustos y de las grosuras; por tanto, los levitas prepararon para ellos mismos y para los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón. ^35:15Asimismo los cantores hijos de Asaf estaban en su puesto, conforme al mandamiento de David, de Asaf y de Hemán, y de Jedutún vidente del rey; también los porteros estaban a cada puerta; y no era necesario que se apartasen de su ministerio: porque sus hermanos los levitas preparaban para ellos. ^35:16Así fue aprestado todo el servicio de Jehová en aquel día, para celebrar la Pascua, y sacrificar los holocaustos sobre el altar de Jehová, conforme al mandamiento del rey Josías.

^35:17Y los hijos de Israel que estuvieron presentes celebraron la Pascua en aquel tiempo, y la Fiesta solemne de los Panes sin Levadura, por siete días. ^35:18Nunca fue celebrada una Pascua como ésta en Israel desde los días de Samuel el Profeta; ni ningún rey de Israel celebró una Pascua como la que celebró el rey Josías, y los sacerdotes y levitas, y todo Judá e Israel, los que se hallaron allí, juntamente con los moradores de Jerusalén. ^35:19Esta Pascua fue celebrada en el año dieciocho del rey Josías.

¶Único   Josías murió en batalla con el rey de Egipto (2 Crónicas 35:20 - 27)

^35:20Después de todas estas cosas, luego de haber Josías preparado la Casa, Necao rey de Egipto subió para hacer guerra en Carquemis junto al Éufrates; y salió Josías contra él.

^35:21Y él le envió embajadores, diciendo, “¿Qué tengo yo contigo, rey de Judá? Yo no vengo contra ti hoy, sino contra la casa que me hace guerra; y Dios me ha dicho que me apresure. Deja de meterte con Dios, quien está conmigo, no sea que él te destruya”.

^35:22Pero Josías no volvió su rostro de él, antes se disfrazó para darle batalla, y no atendió a las palabras de Necao, que eran de boca de Dios; y vino a darle la batalla en el valle de Meguido. ^35:23Y los arqueros tiraron al rey Josías flechas; y dijo el rey a sus siervos, “Quitadme de aquí: porque estoy herido gravemente”. ^35:24Entonces sus siervos lo quitaron de aquel carro, y le pusieron en otro segundo carro que tenía, y lo llevaron a Jerusalén, y murió; y le sepultaron en los sepulcros de sus padres.

Y todo Judá y Jerusalén hicieron duelo por Josías. ^35:25Y endechó Jeremías por Josías, y todos los cantores y cantoras recitan sus lamentaciones sobre Josías hasta hoy; y las dieron por norma para endechar en Israel, las cuales están escritas en las lamentaciones.

^35:26Los demás de los hechos de Josías, y sus obras piadosas, conforme a lo que está escrito en la Ley de Jehová, ^35:27y sus hechos, primeros y postreros, he aquí están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Israel y de Judá.

§Único   Conclusión: El final del Antiguo Pacto Reino de Sion y la destrucción del Templo (2 Crónicas 36:1 - 23)

¶El complemento   Los malvados hijos de Josías sirvieron primero al rey de Egipto, luego al rey de Babilonia (2 Crónicas 36:1 - 10)

^36:1Entonces el pueblo de la tierra tomó a Joacaz hijo de Josías, y le hicieron rey en lugar de su padre en Jerusalén. ^36:2Veintitrés años tenía Joacaz cuando comenzó a reinar, y tres meses reinó en Jerusalén.

^36:3Y el rey de Egipto lo quitó de Jerusalén, y condenó la tierra a pagar cien talentos de plata y uno de oro. ^36:4Y el rey de Egipto estableció a Eliaquim hermano de Joacaz por rey sobre Judá y Jerusalén, y le cambió el nombre en Joacim; y a Joacaz su hermano tomó Necao, y lo llevó a Egipto.

^36:5Veinticinco años tenía Joacim cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó once años en Jerusalén; e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová su Dios. ^36:6Y subió contra él Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y atado con cadenas lo llevó a Babilonia. ^36:7También llevó Nabucodonosor a Babilonia de los vasos de la Casa de Jehová, y los puso en su templo en Babilonia.

^36:8Lo demás de los hechos de Joacim, y las abominaciones que hizo, y lo que en él se halló, he aquí está escrito en el libro de los reyes de Israel y de Judá; y reinó en su lugar Joaquín su hijo.

^36:9Ocho años tenía Joaquín cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó tres meses y diez días en Jerusalén; e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová. ^36:10A la vuelta del año el rey Nabucodonosor envió, y lo hizo llevar a Babilonia juntamente con los vasos preciosos de la Casa de Jehová; y estableció a Sedequías su hermano por rey sobre Judá y Jerusalén.

¶El complemento   El último rey de Judá se rebeló contra el rey de Babilonia, lo que llevó a la destrucción de Jerusalén y el Templo (2 Crónicas 36:11 - 23)

^36:11Veintiún años tenía Sedequías cuando comenzó a reinar, y once años reinó en Jerusalén. ^36:12E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová su Dios, y no se humilló delante del Profeta Jeremías, que le hablaba de parte de Jehová. ^36:13También se rebeló contra Nabucodonosor, al cual había jurado por Dios; y endureció su cerviz, y obstinó su corazón, para no volverse a Jehová el Dios de Israel. ^36:14Y también todos los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y el pueblo, aumentaron la prevaricación, siguiendo todas las abominaciones de las naciones, y contaminando la Casa de Jehová, la cual él había santificado en Jerusalén.

^36:15Y Jehová el Dios de sus padres envió a ellos por medio de sus mensajeros, levantándose de mañana y enviando: porque él tenía misericordia de su pueblo, y de su habitación. ^36:16Pero ellos hacían escarnio de los mensajeros de Dios, y menospreciaban sus palabras, burlándose de sus Profetas, hasta que subió el furor de Jehová contra su pueblo, y no hubo ya remedio.

^36:17Por lo cual trajo contra ellos al rey de los caldeos, que mató a espada sus jóvenes en la Casa de su Santuario, sin perdonar joven, ni doncella, ni viejo, ni decrépito; todos los entregó en sus manos. ^36:18Asimismo todos los utensilios de la Casa de Dios, grandes y chicos, los tesoros de la Casa de Jehová, y los tesoros del rey y de sus príncipes, todo lo llevó a Babilonia. ^36:19Y quemaron la Casa de Dios, y rompieron el muro de Jerusalén, y consumieron al fuego todos sus palacios, y destruyeron todos sus vasos preciosos.

^36:20Los que escaparon de la espada, fueron llevados cautivos a Babilonia; y fueron siervos de él y de sus hijos, hasta que vino el reino de Persia; ^36:21para que se cumpliese la Palabra de Jehová por la boca de Jeremías, hasta que la tierra hubo gozado sus Sábados: porque todo el tiempo de su asolamiento guardó el Sábado, hasta que los setenta años fueron cumplidos.

^36:22Pero al primer año de Ciro rey de Persia, para que se cumpliese la Palabra de Jehová por boca de Jeremías, Jehová excitó el espíritu de Ciro rey de Persia, el cual hizo pasar pregón por todo su reino, y también por escrito, diciendo, ^36:23“Así dice Ciro rey de Persia: ‘Jehová, el Dios de los Cielo, me ha dado todos los reinos de la tierra; y él me ha encargado que le edifique Casa en Jerusalén, que es en Judá. ¿Quién hay de ustedes de todo su pueblo? Jehová su Dios sea con él, y suba’”.
