^3:1Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar (Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene, ^3:2Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests), the Word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. ^3:3And he came into all the country around Jordan; preaching the baptism of repentance as a sign of the forgiveness of sins: ^3:4as it is written in the Book of the words of Isaiah the Prophet, saying, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way of [Jehovah]; make his paths straight! ^3:5Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; ^3:6and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”

^3:7Then he said to the multitude that came forth to be baptized by him, “O generation of vipers! Who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ^3:8Therefore bring forth fruits fitting for repentance; and begin not to say within yourselves, ‘We have Abraham to our father’: for I say to you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.

^3:9And now also the axe is placed against the root of the trees; therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is chopped down; and cast into the Fire.”

^3:10And the people asked him, saying, “Then what shall we do?” ^3:11He answers and says to them, “He that has two coats, let him impart to him that has none; and he that has food, let him do likewise.”

^3:12Then tax collectors also came to be baptized; and they said to him, “Master, what shall we do?” ^3:13And he said to them, “Collect no more than that which is appointed you.” ^3:14And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, “And what shall we do?” And he said to them, “Extort no money from anyone; neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.”

^3:15And the people were in expectation;

and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he was the Christ or not.

^3:16But John answered, saying to them all, “I indeed baptize you in water; but One mightier than I is coming, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to loosen: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit or in Fire! ^3:17Whose fan is in his hand; and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable Hell Fire!!”

^3:18And many other things in his exhortation did he preach to the people.

^3:19But Herod the tetrarch, being rebuked by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, ^3:20added yet this above everything else, that he shut up John in prison.

And he was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, ^4:2being forty days tempted by the devil.

And in those days he ate nothing; and when they were ended, afterward he was hungry.

^4:3And the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone so that it becomes bread.” ^4:4And Jesus answered him, saying, “It has been written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God.’”

^4:5And the devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. ^4:6And the devil said to him, “All this authority will I give you, and their glory: for that has been delivered to me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. ^4:7Therefore, if you will worship me, all shall be yours.” ^4:8And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it has been written, ‘You shall worship [Jehovah] your God, and only him shall you serve.’”

^4:9And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the Temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here: ^4:10for it is written, ‘He shall give his angels charge over you, to protect you...; ^4:11and in their hands they shall bear you up, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone.’” ^4:12And Jesus answering said to him, “It is said, ‘You shall not tempt [Jehovah] your God.’”

^4:13And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

^4:16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day; and he stood up to read. ^4:17And the Book of the Prophet Isaiah was delivered to him. And when he had opened the Book, he found the place where it was written: ^4:18“The Spirit of [Jehovah] is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, ^4:19and to preach the acceptable year of [Jehovah].” ^4:20And he closed the Book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down; and the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. ^4:21And he began to say to them, “This day, this Scripture is fulfilled in your ears.” ^4:22And all bore him witness, and wondered at the gracious words that proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?”

^4:23And he said to them, “You will surely say to me this proverb, ‘Physician, heal yourself’; whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in your country.” ^4:24And he said, “Truly I say to you, no Prophet is accepted in his own country. ^4:25But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; ^4:26but unto none of them was Elijah sent, except to Sarepta, a city of Zidon, to a woman that was a widow. ^4:27And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the Prophet; and none of them were cleansed, except Naaman the Syrian.”

^4:28And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath; ^4:29and they rose up, and thrust him out of the city. And they led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. ^4:30But he, passing through their midst, went his way.

^4:31And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath days; ^4:32and they were astonished at his teaching: for his Word was with authority.

^4:33And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean demon; and it cried out with a loud voice, ^4:34saying, “Aaah!! What have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God!” ^4:35And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent; and come out of him.” And when the demon had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and did not harm him.

^4:36And they were all amazed, and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” ^4:37And the news of him went out into every place of the country round about.

^4:38And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And the mother-in-law of Simon Peter was taken with a great fever; and they asked him about her. ^4:39And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her; and immediately she arose, and she ministered to them.

^4:40Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. ^4:41And demons also came out of many, crying out, and saying, “You are the Christ the Son of God!” And he, rebuking them, did not allow them to continue speaking: for they knew him to be the Christ.

^4:42And when it was day, he left and went into a desert place; and the people looked for him, and came to him; and they restrained him, that he should not depart from them. ^4:43And he said to them, “I must preach the Kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore I am sent.” ^4:44And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

^5:1And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the Word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret. ^5:2And he saw two boats moored by the lake; but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets. ^5:3And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him that he would push out a little from the land; and he sat down, and taught the people out of the boat.

^5:4Now when he finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.” ^5:5And Simon answering said to him, “Master, we have worked hard all night, and have taken nothing; nevertheless, at your Word I will let down the net.” ^5:6And when they had done this, they enclosed a great multitude of fish; and their net began to break. ^5:7And they beckoned to their partners, which were in the other boat, that they should come and help them; and they came, and filled both boats, so that they began to sink.

^5:8When Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me: for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” ^5:9For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the catch of the fish they had taken; ^5:10and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon.

Then Jesus said to Simon, “Fear not; from henceforth you shall catch men.” ^5:11And when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook everything, and followed him.

^5:15But even more the word spread abroad concerning him; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

^5:16And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

^5:18And, behold, men brought in a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they looked for means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. ^5:19And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his bed into the midst before Jesus. ^5:20And when he saw their faith, he said to him, “Man, your sins have been forgiven you.”

^5:21And the scribes and Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”

^5:22But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said to them, “Why do you reason in your hearts? ^5:23Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins have been forgiven you’? Or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’? ^5:24But that you may know that the Son of man has authority upon earth to forgive sins, (he said to the paralyzed man) I say to you: Arise, and take up your bed, and go into your house.” ^5:25And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that which he laid upon, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

^5:26And they were all amazed, and glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today.”

Y, cuando abrió el Libro, encontró el lugar donde estaba escrito: ^4:18“El Espíritu de [Jehová] está sobre mí, porque me ha ungido para predicar el Evangelio a los pobres; me ha enviado a sanar a los quebrantados de corazón, a predicar la liberación a los cautivos y recuperación de vista a los ciegos, a para liberar a los que están magullados, ^4:19a predicar el año aceptable de [Jehová]”. ^4:20Y él cerró el Libro, y se lo dio otra vez al ministro, y se sentó; y los ojos de todos los que estaban en la sinagoga le estaban mirando atentamente. ^4:21Y comenzó a decirles, “Hoy se cumple esta Escritura en sus oídos”. ^4:22Y todos le daban testimonio, y se preguntaban por las palabras de gracia que salieron de su boca. Y dijeron: “¿No es este el hijo de José?”.

^4:23Y él les dijo, “Ciertamente me dirán este proverbio: ‘Médico, cúrate a ti mismo’; todo lo que hemos oído hecho en Capernaum, hazlo también aquí en tu país”. ^4:24Y él dijo: “De cierto te digo que ningún Profeta es aceptado en su propio país. ^4:25Pero realmente os digo, muchas viudas estaban en Israel en los días de Elías cuando el cielo estuvo cerrado por tres años y seis meses, cuando hubo gran hambre en toda la tierra; ^4:26pero Elías no fue enviado a ninguno de ellos, excepto a Sarepta, una ciudad de Sidón, a una mujer que era viuda. ^4:27Y muchos leprosos estaban en Israel en el tiempo de Eliseo el Profeta; y ninguno de ellos fue limpiado, excepto Naamán el sirio”.

^4:28Y todos ellas en la sinagoga, cuando oyeron estas cosas, se llenaron de ira; ^4:29y ellos se levantaron, y le expulsaron desde la ciudad, y le llevaron a la cima de la colina sobre la cual se edificó su ciudad, para que podrían arrojarle desde allí de cabeza. ^4:30Pero él, pasando a través de ellos, se fue por su camino.

¶El complemento   Jesús echó un poderoso demonio fuera de un hombre en la sinagoga de Capernaum (4:31 - 41)

^4:31Y él descendió a Capernaúm, una ciudad de Galilea; y les enseñaba en el sábado días. ^4:32Y se maravillaban de su doctrina: porque su Palabra era con autoridad.

^4:33Y estaba en la sinagoga un hombre que tenía un espíritu de un demonio inmundo, y exclamó con a gran voz, ^4:34diciendo, “¡¡Ahhh!! ¿Qué tenemos que hacer contigo, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? ¡Yo te conozco quién eres: el Santo de Dios!”. ^4:35Y Jesús le reprendió, diciendo, “¡Calla! Y sal de él”. Y cuando el demonio lo había arrojado en medio de ellos, salió de él y no le lastimó.

^4:36Y todos estaban asombrados y hablaban entre ellos, diciendo, “¡Qué un palabra es ésta! Porque con autoridad y poder, él ordena a los espíritus inmundos, y salen”. ^4:37Y las noticias sobre él salieron a todos los lugares del país alrededor.

^4:38Y se levantó de la sinagoga, y entró en la casa de Simón. Y la suegra de Simón Pedro fue tomada con una gran fiebre; y le preguntaron sobre ella. ^4:39Y, habiendo parado sobre ella, y él reprendió la fiebre; y ello se apartó desde ella; e inmediatamente ella se levantó, y ella les ministró.

^4:40Ahora, cuando el sol estaba bajando, todos los que tenían algún enfermo con diversas enfermedades se los trajeron a él; y él puso sus manos sobre cada uno de ellos, y los sanó. ^4:41Y demonios también salieron de muchos, gritando, y diciendo, “¡Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios!”. Y él, reprendiéndolos, no les permitió continuar hablando: porque sabían que él era el Cristo.

¶Único   Jesús demostró su poder sobre la naturaleza para persuadir a Simón Pedro, Jacobo y Juan a seguirle (4:42 - 5:11)

^4:42Y cuando era de día, se fue y se fue en a un lugar desierto; y la gente le buscó, y vino a él, y le refrenaron, que él no debería dejarlos. ^4:43Y él les dijo, “Debo predicar el Reino de Dios a otras ciudades también, porque por lo tanto soy enviado”. ^4:44Y predicaba en las sinagogas de Galilea.

^5:1Y sucedió, que como el pueblo le prensaron a escuchar la Palabra de Dios, él se paró junto al lago de Gennesaret. ^5:2Y vio dos barcos amarrados por el lado del lago; pero los pescadores habían salido de ellos, y estaban lavando sus redes. ^5:3Y él entró en uno de los barcos, que era de Simón, y le pidió para empujar a cabo un poco desde la orilla; y él se sentó, y enseñaba a la multitud desde la barca.

^5:4Ahora cuando terminó de hablar, le dijo a Simón: “Empuja fuera sobre el mar, y baja tus redes para una captura de peces”. ^5:5Y Simón respondiendo, le dijo, “Maestro, hemos trabajado duro toda la noche y no hemos tomado nada; sin embargo, en tu Palabra, echaré abajo la red”. ^5:6Y cuando habían hecho esto, atraparon una gran multitud de peces; y su red comenzó a romperse. ^5:7E hicieron gestos a sus compañeros, que estaban en el otro bote, para que vinieran a ayudarlos; y vinieron, y llenaron ambos barcos, para que ellos comenzaron a hundirse.

^5:8Cuando Simón Pedro vio esto, él cayó a las rodillas de Jesús, diciendo, “Apártate desde mí, O Señor: porque soy un hombre pecador”. ^5:9Porque él estaba asombrado, y todo lo que estaba con él, en la captura de los peces que ellos habían tomado; ^5:10y así también fueron Jacobo y Juan, los hijos de Zebedeo, que eran socios de Simon.

Entonces Jesús dijo a Simón, “No temas; desde ahora en adelante atraparás hombres”. ^5:11Y cuando trajeron las barcas a tierra, ellos abandonaron todo, y le siguieron.

§El complemento   Conclusión: Jesús sanó enfermedades incurables y perdonó pecados (5:12 - 26)

¶El complemento   La curación del leproso trajo grandes multitudes a escuchan y ser sanadas por Jesús (5:12 - 16)

^5:12Y sucedió, cuando él estaba en cierta ciudad, he aquí, un hombre lleno de lepra; quien, viendo a Jesús, cayó sobre su cara; y él le imploró, diciendo, “Señor, si estás dispuesto, puedes hacerme limpiar”.

^5:13Y él extendió su mano; y él le tocó, diciendo, “Estoy dispuesto; sé limpio”. Y inmediatamente la lepra se fue desde él.

^5:14Y él le ordenó: “Dile a ningún hombre; pero vete y muéstrate al sacerdote; y ofrece un sacrificio para tu purificación; como mandó Moisés, para un testimonio a ellos”.

^5:15Pero aún más la palabra difundida en el extranjero concerniente a él; y grandes multitudes se unieron para oír y para ser curados de sus debilidades.

^5:16Y se retiró al desierto y oró.

¶El complemento   El perdón de los pecados del paralítico fue confirmado por la curación instantánea de su cuerpo por Jesús (5:17 - 26)

^5:17Y sucedió en cierto día, mientras el estaba enseñando, que había fariseos y maestros de la ley sentados cerca, que habían venido fuera de cada ciudad de Galilea, y Judea, y Jerusalén; y el poder del Señor estaba presente para sanarlos.

^5:18Y, he aquí, los hombres trajeron a un hombre en una cama quien estaba paralizado; y buscaron los medios para traerle adentro, y para ponerle delante de él. ^5:19Y cuando no pudieron encontrar de qué manera podrían llevarle adentro debido a la multitud, subieron sobre la azotea, y le bajaron a través de los azulejos con su cama en medio de la gente antes de Jesús. ^5:20Y cuando vio la fe de los hombres, le dijo, “Hombre, tus pecados te han sido perdonados”.

^5:21Y los escribas y los fariseos comenzaron a razonar, diciendo, “¿Quién es este quien habla blasfemias? ¿Quién puede perdonar los pecados, sino solo Dios?”.

^5:22Pero cuando Jesús percibió sus pensamientos, él respondiendo, les dijo, “¿Por qué razonas en tus corazones? ^5:23¿Cuál es más fácil: decir: ‘Tus pecados te han sido perdonados’? O decir, ‘Levántate y camina’? ^5:24Pero de modo que usted puede saber que el Hijo del Hombre tiene autoridad sobre la tierra para perdonar los pecados (le dijo al paralítico) te digo: levántate, toma arriba tu cama y entra en tu casa”. ^5:25Y inmediatamente se levantó delante de ellos, y él tomó arriba lo que él había sido tumbando sobre, y partió a su propia casa, glorificando a Dios.

^5:26Y todos estaban asombrados y glorificaron a Dios; y se llenaron de miedo, diciendo, “Hemos visto cosas extrañas hoy”.
