And are not his sisters here with us?” And they were offended at him.

^6:4But Jesus said to them, “A Prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own household.”

^6:5And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands upon a few sick people, and healed them; ^6:6and he marveled because of their unbelief.

And he went around the villages, teaching.

^6:7And he called the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and he gave them power over unclean spirits; ^6:8and he commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, except only a staff: no bag, no bread, and no money in their belt; ^6:9but to wear sandals; and not put on two coats.

^6:10And he said to them, “In whatsoever place you enter into a house, remain there until you leave that place. ^6:11And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when you leave there, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Truly I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the Day of Judgment, than for that city.”

^6:12And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

^6:13And they cast out many demons.

And they anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

^6:16But when Herod heard of it, he said, “It is John, whom I beheaded; he has risen from the dead.”

^6:17For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife: for he had married her: ^6:18for John had said to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”

^6:19Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not: ^6:20for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a holy and just man, and protected him. And when he heard him, he did many things; and heard him gladly.

^6:21And when a convenient day came, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief men of Galilee; ^6:22and when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said to the girl, “Ask of me whatsoever you will, and I will give it to you.” ^6:23And he swore to her, “Whatsoever you shall ask of me, I will give it you, unto the half of my kingdom.”

^6:24And she went forth, and said to her mother, “What shall I ask?” And she said, “The head of John the Baptist.” ^6:25And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, saying, “I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”

^6:26And the king was very sorry; yet for his oath’s sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.

^6:27And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought; and he went and beheaded him in the prison; ^6:28and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.

^6:29And when his disciples heard of this, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

^6:30And the Apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus; and they told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.

^6:31And he said to them, “Come yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while”: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

^6:33And the people saw them leaving; and many knew him, and they ran on foot there out of all cities and went before them, and came together unto him.

^6:34And Jesus, when he came out of the boat, saw much people; and he was moved with compassion toward them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.

^6:37He answered and said to them, “You give them something to eat.” And they say to him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give them to eat?”

^6:38He says to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they knew, they said, “Five, and two fish.”

^6:39And he commanded them to make everyone sit down by groups upon the green grass; ^6:40and they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. ^6:41And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to Heaven, and gave thanks; and he broke the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and he divided the two fish among them all.

^6:42And they all ate, and were filled; ^6:43and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fish; ^6:44and they that ate of the loaves were about five thousand men.

And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking upon the sea; and he would have passed by them; ^6:49but when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out: ^6:50for they all saw him, and were troubled.

And immediately he talked with them, and says to them, “Be of good cheer. I AM; be not afraid.” ^6:51And he went up to them into the boat; and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled, ^6:52because they did not consider the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.

^7:1Then the Pharisees and certain of the scribes which came from Jerusalem came together to him. ^7:2And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashed hands, they found fault: ^7:3for the Pharisees and all the Jews, unless they wash their hands vigorously, do not eat, holding the tradition of the elders. ^7:4And when they come from the market, unless they wash, they do not eat. And many other things there are, which they have received to hold, such as the washing of cups, pots, bronze vessels, and of tables.

^7:5Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?” ^7:6He answered and said to them, “Well has Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. ^7:7Nevertheless in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.’ ^7:8For laying aside the Commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, such as the washing of pots and cups; and many other such like things you do.”

^7:9And he said to them, “Full well you reject the Commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition! ^7:10For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Whoso curses father or mother, let him die the death.’ ^7:11But you say, ‘If a man shall say to his father or mother, ‘I am Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever you may be profited by me’: he shall be free.’ ^7:12And you do not allow him to do anything for his father or his mother anymore, ^7:13making the Word of God of no effect through your tradition, which you have delivered; and many such like things do you do.”

^7:14And when he had called all the people to him, he said to them, “Listen to me every one of you, and understand: ^7:15there is nothing from outside a man, that entering into him can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

^7:17And when he had entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable. And he says to them, “ Are you without understanding also?

^7:18“Do you not perceive, that whatsoever thing from outside that enters into the man cannot defile him, ^7:19because it does not enter into his heart; but into the belly, and goes out into the latrine, purging all foods?”

^7:20And he said, “That which comes out of the man, that is what defiles the man: ^7:21for from within, out of the heart of men, proceeds evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, ^7:22thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness; ^7:23all these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

^6:27Y en seguida el rey envió a un verdugo, y mandó que fuese traída su cabeza; y el verdugo fue y le decapitó en la cárcel; ^6:28y trajo su cabeza en un plato, y la dio a la damisela, y la damisela la dio a su madre.

^6:39Y les mandó que hiciesen recostar a todos por grupos sobre la hierba verde. ^6:40Y se sentaron por grupos, de cien en cien, y de cincuenta en cincuenta. ^6:41Entonces tomó los cinco panes y los dos peces, y alzando los ojos al Cielo, bendijo y partió los panes, y dio a sus discípulos para que los pusiesen delante de ellos; y repartió los dos peces entre todos.

Y de inmediato habló con ellos, y les dice, “Tened buen ánimo. SOY; no temáis”. ^6:51Y subió a ellos en la barca, y cesó el viento, y estaban asombrados sobremanera, y se maravillaban: ^6:52porque aún no habían entendido el milagro de los panes, por cuanto estaban endurecidos sus corazones.

^7:1Entonces se juntaron a él los fariseos, y ciertos de los escribas, que habían venido de Jerusalén. ^7:2Y cuando vieron a algunos de sus discípulos comer pan con manos inmundas, es decir, no lavadas, los condenaban: ^7:3porque los fariseos y todos los judíos, guardando la tradición de los ancianos, si muchas veces no se lavan las manos, no comen. ^7:4Y volviendo del mercado, si no se lavan, no comen. Y muchas otras cosas hay que han recibido para guardar, como el lavar las copas, los jarros, los vasos de bronce, y las mesas.

^7:5Entonces los fariseos y los escribas le preguntaron, “¿Por qué tus discípulos no andan conforme a la tradición de los ancianos, sino que comen pan sin lavarse las manos?”. ^7:6Y respondiendo él, les dijo, “Hipócritas, bien profetizó de ustedes Isaías, como está escrito, ‘Este pueblo de labios me honra, pero su corazón lejos está de mí. ^7:7Pero en vano me honran, enseñando como doctrinas, mandamientos de hombres’. ^7:8Porque haciendo a un lado el mandamiento de Dios, os aferráis a la tradición de los hombres; el lavamiento de jarros, de copas; y hacéis muchas otras cosas semejantes”.

^7:9Y les decía, “¡Bien rechazáis el Mandamiento de Dios, para que podáis guardar vuestra propia tradición! ^7:10Porque Moisés dijo, ‘Honra a tu padre y a tu madre’; y, ‘El que maldijere a su padre o a su madre, muera de muerte’. ^7:11Pero ustedes decís, ‘Si un hombre dice a su padre o a su madre, ‘Es Corbán (que quiere decir, mi ofrenda) todo aquello con que pudiera ayudarte,’ quedará libre’. ^7:12Y no le dejáis hacer más por su padre o por su madre, ^7:13invalidando la Palabra de Dios por vuestra tradición que disteis. Y muchas cosas hacéis semejantes a éstas”.

^7:14Y llamando a sí a toda la multitud, les dijo, “Oídme todos, y entended: ^7:15nada hay fuera del hombre que entrando en él, le pueda contaminar, pero lo que sale de él, eso es lo que contamina al hombre.

^7:16Si alguno tiene oídos para oír, déjale oír”.

^7:17Y apartado de la multitud, habiendo entrado en casa, sus discípulos le preguntaron acerca de la parábola. Y les dijo, “¿También ustedes estáis sin entendimiento?

^7:18“¿No entendéis que todo lo de fuera que entra en el hombre no le puede contaminar? ^7:19Porque no entra en su corazón, sino en el vientre, y sale a la letrina, limpiando todas las viandas”.

^7:20Y decía, “Lo que sale del hombre, eso contamina al hombre: ^7:21porque de dentro, del corazón del hombre, salen los malos pensamientos, los adulterios, las fornicaciones, los homicidios, ^7:22los hurtos, las avaricias, las maldades, los engaños, las lascivias, el ojo maligno, la blasfemia, la soberbia, la insensatez. ^7:23Todas estas maldades de dentro salen, y contaminan al hombre”.
