Matthew, Chapter 1.4: The false teachers rejected the Gospel of the Kingdom from Jesus and his Apostles (9:35 - 12:50)

Freely you have received, freely give. ^10:9Put neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your money belts ^10:10or bag for your journey; neither take two tunics; neither sandals, nor yet staffs: for the workman is worthy of his food. ^10:11And into whatsoever city or town you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and stay there until you go from there. ^10:12And when you come into a house, greet it. ^10:13And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. ^10:14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. ^10:15Truly I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Day of Judgment, than for that city.”

^10:16“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. ^10:17But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and scourge you in their synagogues; ^10:18and you shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. ^10:19But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what you shall speak: ^10:20for it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. ^10:21And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child; and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. ^10:22And you shall be hated of all men for my Name’s sake; but he that endures to the end shall be delivered. ^10:23But when they persecute you in this city, flee into another: for truly I say to you, that you shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, until the Son of man has come.

^10:24“The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. ^10:25It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? ^10:26Therefore fear them not: for nothing is covered, that shall not be revealed; and hidden, that shall not be known. ^10:27What I tell you in darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach upon the housetops. ^10:28And fear not them who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell. ^10:29Are not two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. ^10:30But the very hairs of your head are all numbered; ^10:31therefore fear not, you are more valuable than many sparrows. ^10:32Therefore whosoever shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father, who is in Heaven; ^10:33but whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father, who is in Heaven. ^10:34Do not think that I have come to send peace on earth; I did not come to send peace, but a sword: ^10:35for I have come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; ^10:36and a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. ^10:37He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. ^10:38And he that does not take his cross, and follow after me, is not worthy of me. ^10:39He that finds his life shall lose it; and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it. ^10:40He that receives you receives me; and he that receives me receives him that sent me. ^10:41He that receives a Prophet in the name of a Prophet shall receive a Prophet’s reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. ^10:42And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall never lose his reward.”

^11:1And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he left there to teach and to preach in their cities.

^11:7And as they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

^11:8“But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.”

^11:9“But what did you go out to see? A Prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a Prophet: ^11:10for this is he, of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way before you.’ ^11:11Truly I say to you, that among them that are born of women, a greater than John the Baptist has not arisen; notwithstanding he that is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.

^11:12“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force: ^11:13for all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. ^11:14And if you will receive it, this is Elijah, the one who was planned to come; ^11:15he that has ears to hear, let him hear.

^11:16“But what shall I liken this generation to? It is like children sitting in the markets, and calling to their companions, ^11:17and saying, ‘We have piped to you, and you have not danced; we have mourned to you, and you have not lamented.’ ^11:18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ ^11:19The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold a gluttonous man and a wino; a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified of her children.”

^11:20Then he began to upbraid the cities in which most of his mighty works were done, because they did not repent, saying, ^11:21“Woe unto you, Chorazin! Woe unto you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. ^11:22But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the Day of Judgment, than for you. ^11:23And you, Capernaum, which are exalted to Heaven, shall be brought down to Hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in you, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. ^11:24But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the Day of Judgment, than for you.”

^11:25At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to infants. ^11:26Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in your sight.

^11:27“All things are delivered to me by my Father; and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither does any man know the Father, except the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

^11:28“Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. ^11:29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me: for I am meek and lowly in heart. And you shall find rest to your souls: ^11:30for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

^12:1At that time Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the fields of grain; and his disciples were hungry, and began to pluck the ears of grain, and to eat. ^12:2But when the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “Behold, your disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the Sabbath day.” ^12:3But he said to them, “Have you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and they that were with him: ^12:4how he entered into the House of God, and ate the showbread, which was not lawful for him to eat; neither for them who were with him, but only for the priests? ^12:5Or have you not read in the Law, how that on the Sabbath days the priests in the Temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? ^12:6But I say to you, that in this place is one greater than the Temple. ^12:7And if you had known what this Scripture means, ‘I want mercy, and not sacrifice’, you would not have condemned the guiltless: ^12:8for the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.”

^12:9And when he left there, he went into their synagogue; ^12:10and, behold, a man was there who had a withered hand. And they asked him, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath days?” (That they might accuse him.) ^12:11And he said to them, “What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? ^12:12How much then is a man better than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath days.”

^12:13Then he says to the man, “Stretch forth your hand.” And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like the other.

^12:14Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

^12:15But when Jesus knew this, he withdrew himself from there. And great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all. ^12:16And he commanded them that they should not make him known, ^12:17that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the Prophet, saying, ^12:18“Behold my Servant, whom I have chosen; my Beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased; I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles. ^12:19He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. ^12:20A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, until he sends forth judgment unto victory. ^12:21And in his Name shall the Gentiles trust.”

^12:24But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “This man does not cast out demons, but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons.” ^12:25And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or household divided against itself shall not stand; ^12:26and if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then shall his kingdom stand? ^12:27And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.

^12:28“But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has come to you. ^12:29Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.”

^12:30“He that is not with me is against me;

“and he that does not gather with me scatters abroad.

^12:33“Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

^12:34“O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. ^12:35A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

^12:36“But I say to you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment: ^12:37for by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.”

^12:43“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.

^12:44“Then he says, ‘I will return into my house where I came out’; and when he has come, he finds it empty, swept, and set in order.

^12:45“Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also to this wicked generation.”

¶Lo opuesto   Jesús identificó Juan el Bautista como el Elías quien fue profetizó para preparar el camino para el Mesías< (11:2 - 15)/p>

^11:2Y oyendo Juan en la prisión los hechos de Cristo, envió dos de sus discípulos; ^11:3diciéndole, “¿Eres tú Aquél que había de venir, o esperaremos a otro?”. ^11:4Y respondiendo Jesús les dijo, “Id, y decid a Juan las cosas que oís y veis. ^11:5Los ciegos ven y los cojos andan, los leprosos son limpiados y los sordos oyen, los muertos son resucitados y a los pobres es predicado el Evangelio. ^11:6Y bienaventurado es el que no fuere escandalizado en mí”.

^11:7Y yéndose ellos, comenzó Jesús a decir a las multitudes acerca de Juan, “¿Qué salisteis a ver al desierto? ¿Una caña sacudida por el viento?

^11:8“¿O qué salisteis a ver? ¿Un hombre cubierto de ropas delicadas? He aquí, los que visten ropas delicadas, en las casas de los reyes están”.

^11:9“Pero, ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿Un Profeta? Sí, os digo, y más que Profeta: ^11:10porque éste es de quien está escrito: ‘He aquí, yo envío mi mensajero delante de tu faz, el cual preparará tu camino delante de ti’. ^11:11Verdaderamente os digo: entre los nacidos de mujer jamás se levantó otro mayor que Juan el Bautista; pero el que es menor en el Reino del Cielo, mayor es que él.

^11:12“Y desde los días de Juan el Bautista hasta ahora, el Reino del Cielo sufre violencia, y los violentos lo arrebatan: ^11:13porque todos los Profetas y la Ley, hasta Juan profetizaron. ^11:14Y si lo recibiréis, esto es aquel Elías quien había de venir. ^11:15El que tiene oídos para oír, déjale oír”.

¶Lo opuesto   Jesús llamó a todos los que creyeron el Evangelio del Reino del Cielo a venir a Él para descanso para sus almas (11:16 - 30)

^11:16“Pero ¿a qué compararé esta generación? Es semejante a los muchachos que se sientan en las plazas, y dan voces a sus compañeros, ^11:17diciendo, ‘Os tocamos flauta, y no bailasteis; os endechamos, y no lamentasteis’. ^11:18Porque vino Juan, que ni comía ni bebía y dicen, ‘Demonio tiene’. ^11:19Vino el Hijo del hombre, que come y bebe, y dicen, ‘He aquí un hombre glotón y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y pecadores’. Pero la sabiduría es justificada por sus hijos”.

^11:20Entonces comenzó a reconvenir a las ciudades donde la mayoría de sus milagros habían sido hechos: porque no se habían arrepentido, diciendo, ^11:21“¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Betsaida! Porque si los milagros hechos en ustedes, se hubiesen hecho en Tiro y en Sidón, hace mucho que se hubieran arrepentido en cilicio y en ceniza. ^11:22Por tanto os digo, ‘En el Día del Juicio, será más tolerable el castigo para Tiro y para Sidón, que para ustedes’. ^11:23Y tú, Capernaúm, que hasta el Cielo eres levantada, hasta el Infierno serás abajada: porque si en Sodoma hubiesen sido hechos los milagros hechos en ti, habría permanecido hasta el día de hoy. ^11:24Por tanto os digo, que en el Día del Juicio, será más tolerable el castigo para la tierra de Sodoma, que para ti”.

^11:25En aquel tiempo, respondió Jesús y dijo, “Te doy gracias, Padre, Señor del Cielo y de la tierra: porque escondiste estas cosas de los sabios y de los entendidos, y las revelaste a los niños. ^11:26Sí, Padre: porque así agradó a tus ojos.

^11:27“Todas las cosas me son entregadas por mi Padre; y nadie conoce al Hijo, sino el Padre, ni nadie conoce al Padre, sino el Hijo, y aquel a quien el Hijo lo quisiere revelar.

^11:28“Venid a mí todos los que estáis trabajas duro y agobiado, y yo os daré descansar. ^11:29Llevad mi yugo sobre ustedes, y aprended de mí, porque soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas: ^11:30porque mi yugo es fácil, y ligera es mi carga”.

¶El complemento   Jesús reprendió a la religión vacía de los fariseos, que luego conspiró para destruirle (12:1 - 21)

^12:1En aquel tiempo iba Jesús por los sembrados en Sábado; y sus discípulos tuvieron hambre, y comenzaron a arrancar espigas y a comer. ^12:2Y viéndolo los fariseos, le dijeron, “He aquí tus discípulos hacen lo que no es lícito hacer en Sábado”. ^12:3Pero él les dijo, “¿No habéis leído qué hizo David cuando tuvo hambre, él y los que con él estaban; ^12:4cómo entró en la casa de Dios, y comió del pan de la proposición que no le era lícito comer, ni a los que estaban con él, sino sólo a los sacerdotes? ^12:5¿O no habéis leído en la Ley, cómo los Sábados en el Templo los sacerdotes profanan el Sábado y son sin culpa? ^12:6Pues os digo que uno mayor que el Templo está aquí. ^12:7Pero si supieseis qué significa, ‘Misericordia quiero, y no sacrificio’, no condenaríais a los inocentes: ^12:8porque el Hijo del hombre es Señor aun del Sábado”.

^12:9Y partiendo de allí, vino a la sinagoga de ellos; ^12:10y he aquí había un hombre que tenía seca una mano. Y le preguntaron para acusarle, diciendo, “¿Es lícito sanar en Sábado?”. ^12:11Y él les dijo, “¿Qué hombre habrá de ustedes, que tenga una oveja, y si ésta cayere en un pozo en Sábado, no le eche mano, y la levante? ^12:12Pues ¿cuánto más vale un hombre que una oveja? Así que es lícito hacer bien en Sábado”.

^12:13Entonces dijo a aquel hombre, “Extiende tu mano”. Y él la extendió, y le fue restaurada sana como la otra.

^12:14Entonces salieron los fariseos y tomaron consejo contra él, de cómo le matarían.

^12:15Pero sabiéndolo Jesús, se apartó de allí; y grandes multitudes le seguían, y sanaba a todos. ^12:16Y les encargaba rigurosamente que no le diesen a conocer, ^12:17para que se cumpliese lo dicho por el Profeta Isaías, que dijo, ^12:18“He aquí mi Siervo, a quien he escogido; mi Amado, en quien se agrada mi alma; pondré mi Espíritu sobre él, y a los Gentiles anunciará juicio. ^12:19No contenderá ni voceará; ni nadie oirá en las calles su voz. ^12:20La caña cascada no quebrará, y el pábilo que humea no apagará, hasta que saque a victoria el juicio. ^12:21Y en su Nombre esperarán los Gentiles”.

^12:22Entonces fue traído a él un endemoniado, ciego y mudo; y lo sanó, de tal manera que el ciego y mudo veía y hablaba. ^12:23Y todo el pueblo estaba maravillado, y decía, “¿No es éste el Hijo de David?”.

^12:24Pero los fariseos oyéndolo decían, “Éste no echa fuera los demonios sino por Belcebú, príncipe de los demonios”. ^12:25Y conociendo Jesús los pensamientos de ellos, les dijo, “Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo, es asolado; y toda ciudad o casa dividida contra sí misma, no permanecerá. ^12:26Y si Satanás echa fuera a Satanás, contra sí mismo está dividido; ¿cómo, pues, permanecerá su reino? ^12:27Y si yo por Belcebú echo fuera los demonios, ¿por quién los echan vuestros hijos? Por tanto, serán vuestros jueces.

^12:28“Pero si yo por el Espíritu de Dios echo fuera los demonios, entonces el Reino de Dios ha llegado a ustedes. ^12:29De otra manera, ¿cómo puede uno entrar a la casa del hombre fuerte y saquear sus bienes, si primero no ata al hombre fuerte? Y entonces podrá saquear su casa”.

^12:30“El que no es conmigo, contra mí es;

“y el que conmigo no recoge, desparrama”.

¶Único   Las palabras blasfemas y el mal de los fariseos vinieron desde corazón malo de incredulidad (12:31 - 37)

^12:31“Por tanto os digo: todo pecado y blasfemia será perdonado a los hombres; pero la blasfemia contra el Espíritu Santo no les será perdonada a los hombres.

^12:32“Y a cualquiera que dijere palabra contra el Hijo del hombre, le será perdonado; pero a cualquiera que hablare contra el Espíritu Santo, no le será perdonado, ni en este mundo, ni en el venidero”.

^12:33“O haced el árbol bueno y su fruto bueno, o haced el árbol malo y su fruto malo: porque el árbol por su fruto es conocido.

^12:34“¡Generación de víboras! ¿Cómo podéis hablar lo bueno, siendo malos? Porque de la abundancia del corazón habla la boca. ^12:35El hombre bueno, del buen tesoro del corazón saca buenas cosas; y el hombre malo, del mal tesoro saca malas cosas.

^12:36“Pero yo les digo, que toda palabra ociosa que los hombres hablarán, ellos darán una cuenta de ello en el Día del Juicio: ^12:37porque por tus palabras serás justificado, y por tus palabras serás condenado”.

§El complemento   Conclusión: La incredulidad de esa generación resultaría en una opresión demoníaca para ellos, pero la fe de el discípulos de él sería bendecida (12:38 - 50)

^12:38Entonces respondieron unos de los escribas y de los fariseos, diciendo, “Maestro querríamos ver de ti señal”. ^12:39Pero él respondió y les dijo, “La generación perversa y adúltera demanda señal; pero señal no le será dada, sino la señal del Profeta Jonás: ^12:40porque como estuvo Jonás en el vientre de la ballena tres días y tres noches; así estará el Hijo del hombre tres días y tres noches en el corazón de la tierra.

^12:41“Los hombres de Nínive se levantarán en el juicio con esta generación y la condenarán: porque ellos se arrepintieron a la predicación de Jonás; y he aquí, uno mayor que Jonás en este lugar. ^12:42La reina del Sur se levantará en el juicio con esta generación, y la condenará: porque ella vino de los fines de la tierra para oír la sabiduría de Salomón; y he aquí, uno mayor que Salomón en este lugar”.

^12:43“Cuando el espíritu inmundo ha salido del hombre, anda por lugares secos, buscando reposo, y no lo halla.

^12:44“Entonces dice, ‘Volveré a mi casa de donde salí’; y cuando él llegue, la halla desocupada, barrida y adornada.

^12:45“Entonces va, y toma consigo otros siete espíritus peores que él, y ellos entran y habitan allí; y el postrer estado de aquel hombre viene a ser peor que el primero. Así también acontecerá a esta perversa generación”.

¶El complemento   La creencia y la obediencia de los verdaderos discípulos de Jesús serán reconocidos y premiados (12:46 - 50)

^12:46Y cuando él aún hablaba a la gente, he aquí su madre y sus hermanos estaban afuera, y querían hablar con él.

^12:47Y le dijo uno, “He aquí tu madre y tus hermanos están afuera, y quieren hablar contigo”.

^12:48Y respondiendo él al que le decía esto, dijo, “¿Quién es mi madre, y quiénes son mis hermanos?”.

^12:49Y extendiendo su mano hacia sus discípulos, dijo, “¡He aquí mi madre y mis hermanos!

^12:50“Porque todo aquel que hace la voluntad de mi Padre que está en el Cielo, ése es mi hermano, y hermana, y madre”.
