^26:1And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples, ^26:2“You know that after two days is the Feast of the Passover; and the Son of man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

^26:3Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled together to the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas; ^26:4and they conspired together that they might arrest Jesus by cunning, and kill him.

^26:5But they said, “Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.”

^26:6Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, ^26:7a woman came to him having an alabaster box of very expensive oil; and she poured it on his head, as he reclined to eat. ^26:8And when his disciples saw this, they were indignant, saying, “To what purpose is this waste? ^26:9For this oil might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.”

^26:10But, having known this, Jesus said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work upon me: ^26:11for you always have the poor with you; but me you have not always. ^26:12For in that she has poured this oil on my body, she did it for my burial. ^26:13Truly I say to you, wheresoever this Gospel shall be preached in the whole world, this gift, that this woman has done, shall also be told for a memorial of her.”

^26:14Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests; ^26:15and he said to them, “What will you give me; and I will deliver him to you?” And they agreed with him for thirty pieces of silver.

^26:17Now the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying to him, “Where do you wish that we prepare for you to eat the Passover?”

^26:18And he said, “Go into the city to such a man, and say to him, ‘The Master says, ‘My time is near; I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.’’”

^26:19And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the Passover.

^26:35Peter said to him, “Though I would die with you, yet will I not deny you!” Likewise also said all the disciples.

^26:36Then Jesus comes with them to a place called Gethsemane; and he says to the disciples, “Sit here, while I go and pray over there.”

^26:37And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee; and he began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. ^26:38Then he says to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death. You wait here; and watch with me.”

^26:39And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, “O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not as I will, but as you will.”

^26:40And he comes to the disciples, and finds them asleep, and says to Peter, “What, could you not watch with me one hour? ^26:41Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

^26:42He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, “O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, unless I drink it, your will be done.” ^26:43And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. ^26:44And he left them, and went away again; and he prayed the third time, saying the same words.

^26:47And while he still spoke, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. ^26:48Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, “Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he. Hold him fast.” ^26:49And immediately he came to Jesus, and said, “Greetings, Rabbi”; and he kissed him on the cheek. ^26:50And Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

^26:51And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and he drew his sword; and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and struck off his ear. ^26:52Then Jesus said to him, “Put up again your sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. ^26:53“Do you think that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall instantly give me more than twelve legions of angels? ^26:54But then how shall the Scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?”

^26:55In that same hour Jesus said to the multitudes, “Have you come out as against a thief with swords and clubs in order to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the Temple; and you laid no hold on me. ^26:56But all this was done, that the Scriptures of the Prophets might be fulfilled.”

Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled; ^26:57and they, that had laid hold on Jesus, led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. ^26:58But Peter followed him afar off to the high priest’s palace; and he went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

Nevertheless I say to you, hereafter you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power; and coming in the clouds of heaven.”

^26:65Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy. ^26:66What do you think?” They answered and said, “He is worthy of death.”

^26:67Then they spat in his face, and beat him; and others slapped him, ^26:68saying, “Prophesy to us, you Christ! Who is the one beating you?”

^26:69Now Peter sat outside in the palace; and a female servant came to him, saying, “You also were with Jesus of Galilee.” ^26:70But he denied before them all, saying, “I do not know what you say.”

^26:74Then he began to curse and to swear, saying, “I do not know the man!” And immediately the rooster crowed.

^26:75And Peter remembered the Word of Jesus, which said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you shall deny me three times.” And he went out; and wept bitterly.

Al final, dos testigos falsos vinieron ^26:61y dijeron, “Éste dijo, ‘Soy capaz de destruir el Templo de Dios; y construirlo en tres días’”. ^26:62Y el sumo sacerdote levantándose, y le dijo, “¿No respondes nada? ¿Qué testifican estos hombres contra ti?”. ^26:63Pero Jesús permaneció en silencio.

Y el sumo sacerdote respondiendo y le dijo, “Te mando por el Dios viviente, que nos digas si eres tú el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios”. ^26:64Jesús le dice, “Es como hayas dicho. Sin embargo, os digo: después de esto, veréis al Hijo del hombre sentado a la diestra del poder, y viniendo en las nubes del cielo”.

^26:65Entonces el sumo sacerdote rasgó sus vestiduras, diciendo, “¡Ha hablado la blasfemia! ¿Qué más necesidad tenemos de testigos? He aquí, ahora habéis oído su blasfemia. ^26:66¿Qué os parece?”. Respondieron y dijeron: “¡Es digno de muerte!”.

^26:67Luego escupieron en su cara, y le golpearon; y otros le abofeteaban, ^26:68diciendo, “¡Profetiza a nosotros, Cristo! ¿Quién es el que te está golpeando?”.

^26:69Ahora Pedro se sentó afuera en el patio; y una criada le acercó, diciendo, “Tú también estabas con Jesús el Galileo”. ^26:70Pero él negó delante de todos, diciendo, “No sé lo que dices”.

^26:71Y cuando salió al pórtico, otra chica le vio, y dijo a los que estaban allí, “Éste estaba también con Jesús de Nazaret”. ^26:72Y negó otra vez con juramento, “¡No conozco al hombre!”.

^26:73Y después de un tiempo, los que estaban allí vinieron a él, y dijeron a Pedro, “Seguramente tú también eres uno de ellos: porque tu dialecto te traiciona”.

^26:74Entonces comenzó a maldecir, y a jurar, diciendo, “¡No conozco al hombre!”. Y en seguida el gallo cantó.

^26:75Y Pedro recordó la Palabra de Jesús, el cual le dijo, “Antes que el gallo cante, me negarás tres veces”. Y el salió fuera, y lloró amargamente.
