^2:17But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence (but not in heart), endeavored the more abundantly to see your face with great desire; ^2:18therefore we wanted to come to you (even I Paul, once and again); but Satan hindered us. ^2:19For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? For you are our glory and joy.

^3:1Therefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone; ^3:2and we sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellow-laborer in the Gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith; ^3:3that no man should be moved by these afflictions. For yourselves know that we are appointed to this: ^3:4for truly, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation: even as it came to pass, and you know. ^3:5For this reason, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the Tempter has tempted you, and our labor is in vain.

^3:6But now when Timotheus came from you to us, and brought us good news of your faith and selfless love, and that you have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you; ^3:7therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: ^3:8for now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord: ^3:9for what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy with which we joy for your sakes before our God: ^3:10night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith? ^3:11Now God himself, even our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you. ^3:12Also the Lord make you to increase and abound in selfless love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: ^3:13to the end he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

^4:8Therefore he that despises, despises not man, but God, who has also given to us his Holy Spirit.

^4:9But as touching brotherly love you do not need that I write to you: for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another. ^4:10And indeed you do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia.

But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; ^4:11and that you study to be quiet; and to do your own business; and to work with your own hands (as we commanded you), ^4:12so that you may walk honestly toward them that are outside the Assembly; and that you may have lack of nothing.

^4:13But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them who are asleep, that you sorrow not, even as others who have no hope: ^4:14for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also who sleep in Jesus will God bring with him:

^4:15for this we say to you by the Word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the Coming of the Lord shall not precede them who are asleep:

^4:16for the Lord himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first, ^4:17then we who are alive and remain behind shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air.

And so, we shall always be with the Lord.

^4:18Therefore comfort one another with these words.

^5:4But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that Day should overtake you as a thief. ^5:5You are all the children of Light, and the children of the day. We are not of the night, nor of darkness; ^5:6therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober: ^5:7for they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunk are drunk in the night.

^5:8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and selfless love; and for a helmet, the assurance of salvation:

^5:9for God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain deliverance by our Lord Jesus Christ; ^5:10who died for us, so that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him;

^5:11therefore comfort yourselves together; and edify one another, even as also you do.

^4:8Así que, el que menosprecia, no menosprecia a hombre, sino a Dios, el cual también nos dio su Espíritu Santo.

^4:9Pero acerca del amor fraternal no tenéis necesidad de que os escriba: porque ustedes mismos habéis aprendido de Dios que os améis unos a otros; ^4:10y a la verdad lo hacéis así con todos los hermanos que están por toda Macedonia.

^4:16porque el Señor mismo con aclamación, con voz de arcángel, y con trompeta de Dios, descenderá del Cielo; y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero. ^4:17Luego nosotros los que vivimos, los que hayamos quedado, juntamente con ellos seremos arrebatados en las nubes para recibir al Señor en el aire.

Y así, estaremos siempre con el Señor.

^4:18Por tanto, consolaos unos a otros con estas palabras.

^5:4Pero ustedes, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que aquel Día os sorprenda como ladrón. ^5:5Porque todos ustedes sois hijos de Luz, e hijos del día; no somos de la noche, ni de las tinieblas. ^5:6Por tanto, no durmamos como los demás; antes velemos y seamos sobrios: ^5:7porque los que duermen, de noche duermen; y los que se embriagan, de noche se embriagan.

^5:8Pero nosotros, que somos del día, seamos sobrios, vestidos de la coraza de fe y amor, y de la esperanza de salvación, como un yelmo:

^5:9porque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para obtener salvación por nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo; ^5:10quien murió por nosotros, para que ya sea que velemos, o que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.

^5:11Por lo cual, consolaos unos a otros, y edificaos unos a otros, así como lo hacéis.

¶El complemento   Mantened ocupado en el ministerio, mientras espera el rapto (5:12 - 22)

^5:12Y os rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcáis a los que trabajan entre ustedes, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan; ^5:13y que los tengáis en mucha estima y amor por causa de su obra.

Y estad en paz entre ustedes mismos.

^5:14También os exhortamos, hermanos, que amonestéis a los que andan desordenadamente, que confortéis a los de poco ánimo, que soportéis a los débiles, que seáis pacientes para con todos.

^5:15Mirad que ninguno pague a otro mal por mal; antes seguid lo bueno siempre unos para con otros, y para con todos.

^5:16Estad siempre gozosos. ^5:17Orad sin cesar. ^5:18Dad gracias en todo: porque ésta es la voluntad de Dios para con ustedes en Cristo Jesús. ^5:19No apaguéis el Espíritu. ^5:20No menospreciéis las profecías. ^5:21Examinadlo todo; retened lo bueno. ^5:22Absteneos de toda apariencia de mal.

¶El complemento    Salude el uno al otro con un beso santo (5:23 - 28)

^5:23Ahora el mismo Dios de paz os santifique enteramente; y que todo vuestro espíritu y alma y cuerpo sean guardados irreprensibles para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo. ^5:24Fiel es el que os llama; el cual también lo hará.

^5:25Hermanos, orad por nosotros.

^5:26Saludad a todos los hermanos con ósculo santo.

^5:27Os encargo por el Señor, que esta carta sea leída a todos los santos hermanos.

^5:28La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo sea con ustedes. Amén.
