And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? ^1:23Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my Spirit to you; I will make known my words to you.

^1:24“Because I have called, but you refused; I have stretched out my hand, but no man cared; ^1:25and you have disdained all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof.”

^2:1“My son, if you will receive my words, and hide my Commandments with you, ^2:2so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; ^2:3moreover, if you cry after knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding; ^2:4if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures, ^2:5then shall you understand the fear of Jehovah and find the knowledge of God.

^2:6“For Jehovah gives wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. ^2:7He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous; he is a shield to them that walk uprightly. ^2:8He protects the paths of judgment, and preserves the way of his saints.

^2:9“Then shall you understand righteousness, judgment, and equity; indeed, every good path.”

^2:10“When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, ^2:11discretion shall preserve you, and understanding shall keep you: ^2:12to deliver you from the way of the evil man (from the man that speaks perverse things; ^2:13who leaves the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness; ^2:14who rejoices to do evil and delights in the perverseness of the wicked; ^2:15whose ways are crooked, and they are perverse in their paths); ^2:16to deliver you from the strange woman (even from the stranger who flatters with her words, ^2:17who forsakes the guide of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God: ^2:18for her house sinks down into death, and her paths unto the dead. ^2:19No one that goes to her returns again; neither do they take hold of the paths of Life), ^2:20so that you may walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

^2:21“For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the blameless shall remain in it; ^2:22but the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.”

^3:1“My son, do not forget my Law; but let your heart keep my Commandments: ^3:2for length of days, long life, and peace, shall they add to you. ^3:3Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them around your neck, and write them upon the tablet of your heart: ^3:4so shall you find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

^3:5“Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. ^3:6In all your ways acknowledge him; and he shall direct your paths. ^3:7Be not wise in your own eyes; fear Jehovah, and depart from evil. ^3:8It shall be health to your navel, and marrow to your bones.

^3:9“Honor Jehovah with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase: ^3:10so shall your barns be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine.”

^3:11“My son, despise not the discipline of Jehovah; neither be weary of his correction: ^3:12for whom Jehovah loves he corrects, even as a father the son in whom he delights. ^3:13Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding: ^3:14for its merchandise is better than the merchandise of silver, and its gain than fine gold. ^3:15She is more precious than rubies; and all the things you can desire are not to be compared to her. ^3:16Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand is riches and honor. ^3:17Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. ^3:18She is a tree of Life to them that lay hold upon her, and happy is every one that retains her. ^3:19By wisdom Jehovah has founded the earth, and by understanding he has established the heavens. ^3:20By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

^3:21“My son, let them not depart from your eyes; keep sound wisdom and discretion, ^3:22so shall they be life to your soul, and grace to your neck. ^3:23Then shall you walk in your way safely, and your foot shall not stumble. ^3:24When you lie down, you shall not be afraid; yea, you shall lie down, and your sleep shall be sweet. ^3:25Be not afraid of sudden fear; neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes: ^3:26for Jehovah shall be your confidence, and shall keep your foot from being taken. ^3:27Do not withhold good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it now. ^3:28Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again, and tomorrow I will give”, when you have it by you now. ^3:29Do not devise evil against your neighbor, seeing he is dwelling securely by you. ^3:30Do not strive with a man without cause, if he has done you no harm. ^3:31Do not envy the oppressor, and choose none of his ways: ^3:32for the perverse are an abomination to Jehovah; but his secret is with the righteous. ^3:33The curse of Jehovah is in the house of the wicked; but he blesses the habitation of the just. ^3:34Surely he scorns the scorners, but he gives grace to the lowly. ^3:35The wise shall inherit glory, but shame shall be the promotion of fools.”

^4:1“Hear, you children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding: ^4:2for I give you good doctrine, forsake not my Law: ^4:3for I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. ^4:4He taught me also, and said to me, “Let your heart retain my words; keep my Commandments, and live. ^4:5Get wisdom; get understanding; do not forget it; neither decline from the words of my mouth. ^4:6Do not forsake her, and she shall preserve you; love her, and she shall protect you. ^4:7Wisdom is the most important thing; therefore get wisdom; and with all your ability get understanding. ^4:8Exalt her, and she shall promote you; she shall bring you to honor, when you embrace her. ^4:9She shall give to your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory shall she deliver to you.

^4:10“Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of your life shall be many. ^4:11I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. ^4:12When you go, your steps shall not be narrowed; and when you run, you shall not stumble. ^4:13Get a firm grip on instruction; let her not go; keep her: for she is your life. ^4:14Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. ^4:15Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away: ^4:16for they do not sleep, unless they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause someone to fall: ^4:17for they feast on the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. ^4:18But the path of the Just is like the shining light, that shines brighter and brighter until the perfect day. ^4:19The way of the wicked is like darkness; they know not at what they stumble.”

^4:20“My son, attend to my words, and incline your ear to my sayings. ^4:21Let them not depart from your eyes, and keep them in the midst of your heart: ^4:22for they are Life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh. ^4:23Protect your heart with all diligence: for out of it are the issues of life. ^4:24Put away from you a perverse mouth, and perverse lips put far from you. ^4:25Let your eyes look straight ahead, and let your eyelids look straight before you. ^4:26Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. ^4:27Turn not to the right hand nor to the left; remove your foot from evil.

^5:1“My son, attend to my wisdom, and bow your ear to my understanding, ^5:2that you may regard discretion and your lips may keep knowledge: ^5:3for the lips of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil; ^5:4but her end is as bitter as wormwood, and as sharp as a two-edged sword. ^5:5Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Hell. ^5:6Lest you should ponder the path of Life, her ways are movable, so that you cannot know them. ^5:7Therefore hear me now, O you children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. ^5:8Remove your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house, ^5:9lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel; ^5:10lest strangers be filled with your wealth, and your labors are in the house of a stranger; ^5:11and you mourn at the last, when your flesh and your body have been consumed, ^5:12and say, “How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; ^5:13and have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to them that instructed me! ^5:14I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

^5:15“Drink waters out of your own cistern, and running water out of your own well. ^5:16Let your fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of water in the streets. ^5:17Let them be only your own, and not strangers’ with you. ^5:18Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth. ^5:19Let her be as the loving gazelle and graceful chamois; let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and always be enraptured with her love. ^5:20And why will you, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? ^5:21For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and he ponders all his goings. ^5:22His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be bound with the cords of his sins. ^5:23He shall die without instruction, and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.”

^6:12“A wicked man, an idolatrous man, walks with a perverse mouth. ^6:13He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, and he teaches with his fingers; ^6:14perverseness is in his heart, and he devises mischief continually: he sows discord. ^6:15Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy. ^6:16These six things Jehovah hates; yea, seven are an abomination to him: ^6:17a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, ^6:18a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief, ^6:19a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.”

^6:20“My son, keep your father’s Commandment, and do not forsake the Law of your mother. ^6:21Bind them continually upon your heart, and tie them around your neck. ^6:22When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall keep you; and when you awake, it shall talk with you. ^6:23For the Commandment is a lamp, and the Law is Light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of Life: ^6:24to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. ^6:25Lust not after her beauty in your heart; neither let her take you with her eyelids: ^6:26for by means of a whorish woman a man is reduced to a piece of bread; and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. ^6:27Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? ^6:28Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? ^6:29So is he that goes in to his neighbor’s wife; whosoever touches her shall not be innocent. ^6:30Men do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; ^6:31but if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold: he shall give all the substance of his house. ^6:32But whoso commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he that does it destroys his own soul. ^6:33A wound and dishonor shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. ^6:34For jealousy is the rage of a man; therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. ^6:35He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.

^1:2para entender sabiduría e instrucción;

para percibir las palabras de entendimiento,

^1:3para recibir la instrucción de la sabiduría: justicia, juicio y equidad;

^1:4para dar sutileza a los ingenuos, y al hombre joven conocimiento y discreción.

¶Lo opuesto    Un hombre sabio escuchará proverbios para aprender el temor de Jehová (1:5 - 7)

^1:5El hombre sabio escuchará y aumentará el aprendizaje;

y el hombre de entendimiento adquirirá sabios consejos:

^1:6para entender un proverbio, y la interpretación;

las palabras de los sabios, y sus dichos tenebrosos.

^1:7El temor de Jehová es el principio del conocimiento; sino los tontos desprecian la sabiduría y la instrucción.

§El complemento   Cuerpo: Jehová da sabiduría a quienes la buscan diligentemente; confía en Jehová con todo tu corazón, y no te apoyes en tu propio entendimiento (1:8 - 5:23)

¶Lo opuesto    Hijo mío, si los pecadores te incitan a hacer el mal, no estés de acuerdo; y no camines con ellos (1:8 - 19)

^1:8“Hijo mío, escucha la instrucción de tu padre, y no abandones la Ley de tu madre: ^1:9porque ellos serán un adorno de gracia para tu cabeza, y cadenas alrededor de tu cuello.

^1:10“Hijo mío, si los pecadores te tientan a hacer el mal, no estés de acuerdo. ^1:11Si dijeren, “Ven con nosotros; esperemos la sangre; acechemos en secreto a los inocentes sin causa; ^1:12traguémoslos vivos como la tumba; y enteros, como los que bajan dentro la fosa. ^1:13Encontraremos toda sustancia preciosa, llenaremos nuestras casas de botín. ^1:14echa en tu suerte entre nosotros; tengamos todos la misma bolsa de dinero.

^1:15“Hijo mío, no andes en camino con ellos; aparta tu pie desde sus veredas: ^1:16porque sus pies corren al mal, y se apresuran a derramar sangre”.

^1:17“Seguramente en vano, la red está extendida en la vista de cualquier ave.

^1:18“Y acechan para su propia sangre; ellos acechan en secreto por sus propias vidas. ^1:19Así son los caminos de todo aquel que es codicioso de ganancias, cual quita la vida a sus dueños”.

¶Lo opuesto    La sabiduría se reirá de aquellos que rechazaron el consejo de ella (1:20 - 33)

^1:20“La sabiduría clama afuera: ella da su voz en las calles; ^1:21ella clama en el lugar principal de la concurrencia, en las aberturas de las puertas de la ciudad, ella pronuncia sus palabras, diciendo, ^1:22“¿Cuánto tiempo, ustedes ingenuos, amarán la ingenuidad? Y escarnecedores deleitarán en sus despreciando, y los necios odiarán el conocimiento? ^1:23Volveos a mi reprensión. He aquí, os derramaré mi Espíritu; os daré a conocer mis palabras.

^1:24“Porque llamé, pero rechazasteis; yo he extendido mi mano, pero a nadie le importó; ^1:25y desdeñasteis todo mi consejo, y no quisisteis ninguna de mis reprensión”.

^1:26“Por tanto yo también reiré de vuestra calamidad; me burlaré cuando llega vuestro miedo; ^1:27cuando llega vuestro como desolación, y vuestra destrucción viene como un torbellino; cuando os sobrevenga tribulación y angustia.

^1:28“Entonces me llamarán, y no responderé; me buscarán de mañana, y no me hallarán; ^1:29porque aborrecieron el conocimiento, y no escogieron el temor de Jehová. ^1:30No quisieron ninguno de mis consejos, y despreciaron todas mi reprensión; ^1:31por tanto, comerán del fruto de su camino, y se llenarán con sus propios dispositivos. ^1:32Porque el dar la espalda de los ingenuos los matará, y La prosperidad de los tontos los destruirá.

^1:33“Pero cualquiera que me escuche habitarán seguros, y estarán tranquilos por desde el miedo del mal”.

¶El complemento    Hijo mío, Jehová da sabiduría a quienes la buscan diligentemente (2:1 - 22)

^2:1“Hijo mío, si recibieres mis palabras, y mis Mandamientos atesorares dentro de ti, ^2:2para que inclines tu oído a la sabiduría, y apliques tu corazón al entendimiento; ^2:3además, si clamas por el conocimiento, y alzas tu voz por el entendimiento; ^2:4si la buscas como a la plata; y buscarla, como a tesoros escondidos; ^2:5entonces entenderás el temor de Jehová, y hallarás el conocimiento de Dios.

^2:6“Porque Jehová da la sabiduría; de su boca sale el conocimiento y el entendimiento. ^2:7Él almacena sana sabiduría para los justos; él es un escudo para los que caminan rectamente. ^2:8Él guarda las veredas del juicio, y preserva el camino de sus santos.

^2:9“Entonces entenderás justicia, juicio, y equidad; sí, todo buen camino”.

^2:10“Cuando la sabiduría entrare en tu corazón, y el conocimiento fuere dulce a tu alma, ^2:11la discreción te preservará, y el entendimiento te guardará, ^2:12para entregarte del camino del hombre malo (desde el hombre que habla cosas perversas; ^2:13quien deja las sendas de la rectitud para andar por los caminos de las tinieblas; ^2:14quien se regocija para hacer el mal y se deleita en la perversidad de los impíos; ^2:15cuyos caminos son torcidos, y son perversos en sus veredas); ^2:16para entregarte desde la mujer extraña (desde la extraña que halaga con las palabras de ella; ^2:17que abandona la guía de su juventud, y se olvida del pacto de su Dios; ^2:18porque su casa se hunde en la muerte, y sus caminos hacia los muertos; ^2:19nadie que va a ella vuelve otra vez; tampoco se apoderan de los caminos de la vida), ^2:20para que andéis por el camino de los hombres buenos, y guardéis las sendas de los justos.

^2:21“Porque los rectos habitarán en la tierra, y el irreprensible permanecerán en ella; ^2:22pero los impíos serán cortados desde la tierra, y los transgresores serán desarraigados fuera de ella”.

¶El complemento    Hijo mío, confía en Jehová con todo tu corazón y honra a Jehová con toda tu sustancia (3:1 - 35)

^3:1“Hijo mío, no te olvides a mi Ley, pero deja tu corazón guarde mis Mandamientos: ^3:2porque largura de días, larga vida y paz, te añadirán. ^3:3No dejes que la misericordia y la verdad te abandonen; atarlos alrededor de su cuello, y escríbelas en la tabla de tu corazón; ^3:4así hallarás favor y buen entendimiento a la vista de Dios y de los hombres. ^3:5Confía en Jehová con todo tu corazón, y no apoyes en tu propia comprensión. ^3:6En todos tus caminos, reconócele como Senor; y él dirigirá tus caminos. ^3:7No seas sabio a tus propios ojos; teme a Jehová, y apártate desde el mal. ^3:8Será salud para tu ombligo, y tuétano para tus huesos. ^3:9Honra a Jehová con tu sustancia, y con las primicias de todo tu aumento: ^3:10así se llenarán tus graneros con abundancia, y tus lagares rebosarán vino nuevo.

^3:11“Hijo mío, no desprecies la disciplina de Jehová; ni estés cansado de su corrección: ^3:12porque el que Jehová ama, corrige; así como un padre corrige al hijo en quien se deleita.

^3:13“Feliz el hombre que halla sabiduría, y el hombre que adquiere entendimiento: ^3:14porque su mercadería es mejor que la mercadería de plata, y su incremento es mayor que el oro fino. ^3:15Ella es más preciosa que los rubíes; y todas las cosas que tú puedas desear son ni para ser comparado con ella. ^3:16Largura de días está en la mano derecha de ella, y en su mano izquierda, riquezas y honra. ^3:17Sus caminos son caminos de deleite, y todas sus veredas son de paz. ^3:18Ella es árbol de Vida para los que la agarran, y felices es cada uno que la guarda. ^3:19Por sabiduría, Jehová ha fundado la tierra; y por entendimiento, ha establecido los cielos. ^3:20Por su conocimiento, las profundidades están rotas; y las nubes destilan el rocío”.

^3:21“Hijo mío, deja que no se aparten de tus ojos; guarda la sana sabiduría y discreción; ^3:22así serán vida a tu alma, y gracia a tu cuello. ^3:23Entonces andarás por tu camino con seguridad, y tu pie no tropezará. ^3:24Cuando te acuestes, no tendrás miedo; sí, te acostarás, y tu sueño será dulce. ^3:25No tengas miedo del miedo repentino; ni de la desolación de los impíos, cuando venga: ^3:26porque Jehová será tu confianza, y él guardará tu pie desde ser atrapado.

^3:27“No retengas el bien desde aquellos a quienes se debe, cuando está en el poder de tu mano hacerlo ahora. ^3:28No digas a tu prójimo: “Ve, y vuelve, y mañana te daré”, cuando lo tienes contigo ahora. ^3:29No idees el mal contra tu prójimo, viendo que él mora confiado junto a ti. ^3:30No luches con un hombre sin causa, si no te ha hecho daño. ^3:31No envidies al opresor, y no elijas ninguno de sus caminos: ^3:32porque los perversos son abominación a Jehová; pero su secreto está con los justos. ^3:33La maldición de Jehová está en la casa del impío; pero bendice la morada de los justos. ^3:34Ciertamente él escarnece a los escarnecedores, pero da gracia a los humildes. ^3:35Los sabios heredarán la gloria, pero la vergüenza será la promoción de los necios”.

¶Único    Hijo mío, reflexiona sobre el camino de tus pies y evita a la mujer extraña (4:1 - 5:23)

^4:1“Oíd, hijos, la instrucción de un padre, y atender para conocer al entendimiento: ^4:2porque os doy buena doctrina, no abandonéis mi Ley: ^4:3porque yo era hijo de mi padre, tierno y solo amado a los ojos de mi madre. ^4:4Me enseñó también, y me dijo, “Deja que tu corazón mantenga mis palabras, guarda mis Mandamientos, y vivirás. ^4:5Adquiere sabiduría; obtener comprensión; no lo olvides; ni declines desde las palabras de mi boca. ^4:6No la abandones, y ella te preservará; ámala, y ella te protegerá. ^4:7La sabiduría es la cosa más importante; por lo tanto adquiere sabiduría; y con toda tu capacidad, consigue entendimiento. ^4:8Exáltala, y ella te promoverá; ella te traerá al honor, cuando la abrazas. ^4:9Ella dará a tu cabeza un adorno de gracia; una corona de gloria ella te entregará”.

^4:10“Oye, hijo mío, y recibe mis razones, y los años de tu vida serán muchos. ^4:11Te he enseñado en el camino de la sabiduría; te he conducido en caminos rectos. ^4:12Cuando andes, no se estrecharán tus pasos; y cuando corras, no tropezarás. ^4:13Obtener un agarre firme sobre la instrucción; no la dejes ir; guárdala: porque ella es tu vida. ^4:14No entres en la senda de los impíos, ni vayas en el camino de los hombres malvados. ^4:15Evítalo, no pases de largo ello; apártate de ella, sigue adelante: ^4:16porque no duermen, a menos que hayan hecho travesural; y se les quita el sueño, a menos que hagan caer a alguien: ^4:17porque se deleitan con el pan de la maldad, y beben el vino de la violencia. ^4:18Pero el camino del justo es como la luz brillante, que brilla cada vez más hasta el día perfecto. ^4:19El camino de los impíos es como la oscuridad; ellos no saben en lo que tropiezan”.

^4:20“Hijo mío, atiende a mis palabras, e inclina tu oído a mis dichos. ^4:21Deja que no se aparten de tus ojos, y guárdalas en medio de tu corazón: ^4:22porque son Vida a los que las hallan, y salud a toda su carne. ^4:23Guarda tu corazón con toda diligencia, porque de ella brotan las cuestiones de la vida. ^4:24Aparta de ti la perversidad de la boca, y aleja de ti los labios inicuos. ^4:25Deja que tus ojos miren el frente y deja que tus párpados miren directamente frente a ti. ^4:26Reflexiona sobre el camino de tus pies, y deja que todos tus caminos sean establecidos. ^4:27No te desvíes a la derecha ni a la izquierda; aparta tu pie del mal.

^5:1“Hijo mío, atiende a mi sabiduría, e inclina tu oído a mi entendimiento, ^5:2que tú puedes preservar la discreción y tus labios pueden guardar el conocimiento: ^5:3porque los labios de la mujer extraña gotean como un panal, y su boca es más suave que el aceite; ^5:4pero su fin es como amargo como el ajenjo, y como agudo como espada de dos filos. ^5:5Los pies de ella descienden a la muerte; sus pasos se afianzan en el Infierno. ^5:6Para que no reflexionéis sobre el camino de la Vida, los caminos de ella son móviles, para que no puedas conocerlos. ^5:7Por lo tanto, escúchame ahora, oh ustedes hijos, y no os apartéis de las palabras de mi boca. ^5:8Aparta de ella tu camino, y no te acerques a la puerta de su casa; ^5:9no sea que des tu honor a los demás, y tus años al cruel; ^5:10no sea que extraños se llenen de tus riquezas, y tus labores están en la casa de un extraño; ^5:11y lamentes al final, cuando tu carne y tu cuerpo hayan sido consumidos, ^5:12y digas, “¡Cómo he aborrecido la instrucción, y mi corazón despreciado la reprensión; ^5:13y no obedecí la voz de mis maestros, ni incliné mi oído a los que me instruían!”. ^5:14Estuve casi en toda maldad en medio de la congregación y asamblea.

^5:15“Bebe aguas desde tu propia cisterna, y aguas corrientes desde tu propio pozo. ^5:16¿Deben tus fuentes dispersarse en el exterior, y ríos de agua en las calles? ^5:17Deja que sean tuyos solo, y nunca extraños contigo. ^5:18Deja que tu fuente sea bendecida; y alégrate con la esposa de tu juventud. ^5:19Deja que ella sea como la gacela amorosa y la graciosa gamuza; deja que los pechos de ella te satisfagan en todo momento; y siempre estar embelesado con su amor. ^5:20¿Y por qué, hijo mío, te extraviarás con una mujer extraña y abrazarás el seno de una extraña? ^5:21Porque los caminos del hombre están delante de los ojos de Jehová, y él considera todas sus veredas. ^5:22Sus propias iniquidades tomarán al impío mismo, y será atado con las cuerdas de sus pecados. ^5:23Morirá sin instrucción; y en la grandeza de su necedad, se descarriará”.

§El complemento   Conclusión: La casa de la mujer extraña es el camino al Infierno; si desprecias la sabiduría, solo tú la soportarás (6:1 - 9:18)

^6:1“Hijo mío, si eres una garantía para tu amigo, si has estrechado tu mano en una promesa con un extraño, ^6:2estás atrapado con las palabras de tu boca, o eres tomado con las palabras de tu boca: ^6:3Haz esto ahora, hijo mío: entrégate a ti mismo, cuando has venido en la mano de tu amigo; ve, humíllate, y asegúrate de tu amigo. ^6:4No des sueño a tus ojos, ni somnolencia a tus párpados. ^6:5Escápate como una gacela de la mano del cazador, y como un pájaro desde la mano del cazador de pájaros. ^6:6Ve a la hormiga, tú perezoso; considera sus caminos, y sé sabio; ^6:7la cual no teniendo guía, capataz ni gobernante, ^6:8ella provee su pan en el verano, y recoge su alimento en la siega. ^6:9¿Hasta cuándo dormirás, oh perezoso? ¿Cuándo te levantarás desde tu sueño? ^6:10Todavía un poco de sueño, un poco siesta, un pequeño cruce de manos para dormir: ^6:11así tu necesidad vendrá como un viajero, y tu necesidad como hombre armado.

^6:12“Un hombre malvado, un hombre idólatra, anda con una boca perversa. ^6:13Él guiña con los ojos, habla con los pies y enseña con los dedos; ^6:14perversidades es en su corazón, y él trama travesuras continuamente, y siembra discordia. ^6:15Por tanto, su calamidad vendrá de repente; de repente él será quebrantado sin remedio. ^6:16Estas son seis cosas que Jehová odia; sí, siete son una abominación para él: ^6:17una mirada orgullosa, una lengua mentirosa, manos que derraman sangre inocente, ^6:18un corazón que idea imaginaciones malvadas, los pies que son rápidos en correr hasta travesuras, ^6:19un testigo falso que dice mentiras, y él que siembra discordia entre los hermanos”.

^6:20“Hijo mío, guarda el mandamiento de tu padre, y no abandones la Ley de tu madre. ^6:21Átalos continuamente sobre tu corazón, y atarlos alrededor de tu cuello. ^6:22Cuando vayas, ello te guiará; cuando duermas, te guardará; y cuando tú despiertes, hablará contigo. ^6:23Porque el mandamiento es lámpara, y la Ley es luz, y las reprensiones de la instrucción son camino de vida: ^6:24para guardarte de la mala mujer, de la lisonja de la lengua de la mujer extraña. ^6:25No codicies su belleza en tu corazón; ni dejes que ella te tome con sus párpados: ^6:26porque por medio de una ramera, un hombre es reducido a un pedazo de pan; y la adúltera cazará para la vida preciosa. ^6:27¿Puede un hombre tomar fuego en su seno, y su ropa no sea quemada? ^6:28¿Puede alguien caminar sobre brasas, y sus pies no sea quemada? ^6:29Así es él que va en a la mujer de su prójimo; cualquiera que la toque no será inocente. ^6:30Los hombres no desprecian a un ladrón, si roba para saciar su alma cuando tenga hambre; ^6:31pero si él sea descubierto, él restaurará siete veces: dará todos los bienes de su casa. ^6:32Pero él que comete adulterio con una mujer carece de entendimiento; él que lo hace destruye su propia alma. ^6:33Una herida y deshonra él recibirá; y su oprobio no será borrado. ^6:34porque los celos son la ira del hombre; por tanto, no escatimara el día de la venganza. ^6:35No aceptará ningún rescate; ni se contentará él, aunque le des muchos dones.

^7:1“Hijo mío, guarda mis palabras, y atesora contigo mis Mandamientos. ^7:2Guarda mis Mandamientos, y vivirás, y mi Ley como la manzana de tu ojo. ^7:3Atarlos en tus dedos; escríbelos en la tabla de tu corazón. ^7:4Di a la sabiduría, “Tú eres mi hermana”; y llama la comprensión tu pariente, ^7:5para que ellos podrían mantenerte alejado desde la mujer extraña, desde la extraña que halaga con sus palabras. ^7:6Porque en la ventana de mi casa, miré a través de mi celosía, ^7:7y miré entre los ingenuos, vi entre los jóvenes, a un joven falto de entendimiento, ^7:8pasando a través de la calle cerca de su esquina; y se fue camino a su casa, ^7:9en el crepúsculo, en la tarde, en la noche negra y oscura; ^7:10Y he aquí, una mujer lo conoció en ropas de ramera, y sutil de corazón, ^7:11(ella es ruidosa y obstinada; los pies de ella no permanecen en su casa; ^7:12ahora ella está afuera, ahora en las calles, y acecha en cada esquina). ^7:13Así que ella lo atrapó, y lo besó y con cara desvergonzada le dijo, ^7:14“Tengo ofrendas de paz conmigo; este día he pagado mis votos. ^7:15Por tanto, salí a tu encuentro, ansioso para buscar tu cara; y te he encontrado. ^7:16He engalanado mi lecho con revestimientos de tapiz, con un cubrecama de lino fino de Egipto ^7:17He perfumado mi lecho con mirra, áloes y canela. ^7:18Ven, tomemos nuestro relleno de amor hasta la mañana; consolémonos con amores: ^7:19porque mi marido no está en casa, se ha ido en un largo viaje. ^7:20Ha llevado consigo una bolsa de dinero y volverá a casa el día señalado”. ^7:21Con mucha astucia, ella le hizo ceder: con la adulación de sus labios, le obligó. ^7:22Él va tras ella inmediatamente, como va el buey al matadero, o como el necio a la corrección de la picota, ^7:23hasta que un dardo atraviesa su hígado; como un pájaro corre a la trampa, y no sabe que ello es para su vida.

^7:24“Por lo tanto, escúchenme ahora, oh ustedes hijos; y atiende a las palabras de mi boca. ^7:25No permitas que tu corazón decline a los caminos de ella, y no os desviéis en sus caminos: ^7:26porque ella ha derribado muchos heridos; además, muchos hombres fuertes han sido asesinados por ella. ^7:27Su casa es el camino al Infierno, descendiendo a las cámaras de la muerte”.

¶El complemento    La sabiduría llama a los ingenuos a comer de su pan, pero si la desprecias, solo tú lo soportarás (8:1 - 9:18)

^8:1“¿No clama la sabiduría, y entendimiento da su voz? ^8:2Ella se para en la cima de los lugares altos, por el camino en los lugares de las sendas. ^8:3Ella llora a las puertas, a la entrada de la ciudad, en el umbral: ^8:4“Oh hombres, a ustedes clamo; y mi voz es para los hijos del hombre. ^8:5Oh ustedes ingenuo, entiende la sabiduría; y ustedes necios, sed de un corazón entendido. ^8:6Oíd: porque hablaré cosas excelentes; y la apertura de mis labios dirá cosas justas: ^8:7porque mi boca hablará verdad, y la maldad es abominación a mis labios. ^8:8Todas las palabras de mi boca son en justicia; no hay nada torcido o perverso en ellos. ^8:9Todos son claros para él que entiende, y correctos para los que hallan el conocimiento. ^8:10Recibid mi enseñanza, y no plata; y conocimiento en lugar del oro escogido: ^8:11porque la sabiduría es mejor que los rubíes y todas las cosas que se pueden desear no son para ser comparados con ella.

^8:12“Yo, la sabiduría, habito con la prudencia, y descubro el conocimiento de inventos ingeniosos. ^8:13El temor de Jehová es aborrecer el mal; la soberbia, la arrogancia, el mal camino y la boca perversa, aborrezco. ^8:14El consejo es mío, y la sana sabiduría; estoy entendiendo; tengo fuerza. ^8:15Por mí reinan los reyes, y los príncipes decretan justicia. ^8:16Por mí gobiernan los príncipes, y los nobles, incluso todos los jueces de la tierra. ^8:17Yo amo a los que me aman; y los que temprano me buscan me hallarán. ^8:18Las riquezas y la honra están conmigo; sí, riquezas duraderas, y justicia. ^8:19Mi fruto es mejor que el oro; sí, que incluso el oro fino; y mi aumento es mejor que la plata elegida. ^8:20Yo conduzco por el camino de la justicia, en medio de las sendas del juicio; ^8:21para que yo pueda causar que los que me aman heredar bienes; y llenaré sus tesoros. ^8:22Jehová me poseyó en el principio de su camino, antes de sus obras de antaño. ^8:23Yo fui ungido desde la Eternidad pasada, desde el principio, o antes de que existiera la tierra. ^8:24Cuando no había profundidades, fui dado a luz; cuando no había fuentes que abundaran con agua. ^8:25Antes de que las montañas se asentaran en su lugar, antes que las colinas, fui dado a luz, ^8:26mientras que aún no había hecho la tierra, ni los campos, ni la parte más elevada del polvo del mundo. ^8:27Cuando preparó los cielos, yo estaba allí; cuando trazó un círculo sobre la faz del abismo; ^8:28cuando él estableció las nubes arriba; cuando fortaleció las fuentes del abismo; ^8:29cuando dio al mar su decreto, que el agua no pasara su mandato; cuando dispuso los cimientos de la tierra, ^8:30entonces yo estaba junto a él, como uno criado con él; y yo era su delicia de día en día, regocijándome siempre delante de él; ^8:31regocijándose en la parte habitable de su tierra; y mis delicias fueron con los hijos de los hombres. ^8:32Ahora por tanto, escuchadme, oh ustedes hijos, porque bienaventurados los que guardan mis caminos. ^8:33Escuchad la instrucción, y sé sabio, y no las rechaces. ^8:34Bienaventurado el hombre que me escucha, velando cada día en mis puertas, y esperando en los postes de mis puertas: ^8:35porque él que me halla, hallara la Vida; y alcanzara el favor de Jehová. ^8:36Pero él que peca contra mí, daña su propia alma; todos los que me aborrecen, aman la muerte”.

^9:1“La sabiduría ha edificado su casa; ella ha labrado sus siete columnas; ^9:2ella ha matado a sus bestias; ella ha mezclado su vino; también ha amueblado su mesa. ^9:3Ella ha enviado a sus siervas; ella clama sobre los lugares más altos de la ciudad, diciendo, ^9:4‘Cualquiera que sea ingenuo, déjale entrar aquí”. En cuanto a él que carece de entendimiento, ella le dice, ^9:5‘Venid, comed de mi pan, y bebed del vino que he mezclado. ^9:6Abandonad las necedades y vive; e id en el camino del entendimiento.

^9:7“‘Él que reprende a un escarnecedor, consigue avergüenza sobre sí mismo; él que reprende al impío, recibe una mancha sobre sí mismo. ^9:8No reprendas al escarnecedor, para que no te odie; reprende al sabio y te amará. ^9:9Da instrucción a un sabio, y será aun más sabio; enseña a un justo, y aumentará en saber. ^9:10El temor de Jehová es el principio de la sabiduría, y el conocimiento del santo es entendimiento: ^9:11porque por mí, tus días se multiplicarán, y los años de tu vida aumentarán. ^9:12Si eres sabio, serás sabio por ti mismo; pero si desprecias, solo tú lo soportaras’.

^9:13“La mujer necia es clamorosa; ella es sencilla, y no sabe nada: ^9:14porque ella se sienta en la puerta de su casa, en un asiento en los lugares altos de la ciudad, ^9:15para llamar a los peatones quienes van rectos en sus caminos, diciendo, ^9:16‘Cualquiera que sea ingenuo, déjale entre aquí’. Y en cuanto a él que carece de entendimiento, ella le dice, ^9:17‘El agua robada es dulce, y el pan que se come en secreto es agradable’. ^9:18Pero no sabe que los muertos están allí; y que sus invitados de ella están en lo más profundo del Infierno”.
