^30:1a The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy.

^30:1bThe man spoke to Ithiel, even to Ithiel and Ucal, saying, ^30:2“Surely I am more base than any man, and do not have the understanding of a man. ^30:3I neither learned wisdom, nor do I have the knowledge of the holy.

^30:4“Who has ascended up into Heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the water in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his Name, and what is his Son’s Name, if you can tell?”

^30:5“Every Word of God is pure: he is a shield to them that put their trust in him.

^30:6“Do not add to his words, lest he reproves you, and you are found a liar.”

^30:7“Two things have I required of you; do not deny me them before I die: ^30:8remove far from me vanity and lies, and give me neither poverty nor riches; and feed me with my necessary bread.

^30:9“Lest I be full, and deny you, and say, ‘Who is Jehovah?’ Or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the Name of my God in vain.”

^30:18“There are three things which are too wonderful for me; yea, four which I do not understand: ^30:19the way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent upon a rock, the way of a ship in the midst of the sea, and the way of a man with a young woman.

^30:29“There are three things which go well; yea, four are pleasing in going: ^30:30a lion which is strongest among beasts, and does not turn away for any; a greyhound; also a male goat; and a king, against whom there is no rebellion.

^30:24“There are four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceedingly wise: ^30:25the ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer; ^30:26the conies are only a feeble folk, yet they make their houses in the rocks; ^30:27the locusts have no king, yet they go forth all of them by bands; ^30:28the spider takes hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.”

^30:20“Such is the way of an adulterous woman: she eats, and wipes her mouth; and she says, ‘I have done no wickedness.’”

^30:21For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot stand: ^30:22for a servant when he reigns; and a fool when he is filled with food; ^30:23for an odious woman when she is married; and a maidservant that is heir to her mistress.

^30:10Accuse not a servant to his master, lest he curses you, and you are found guilty. ^30:32If you have done foolishly in lifting up yourself, or if you have thought evil, lay your hand upon your mouth. ^30:33Surely the churning of milk brings forth butter, and the wringing of the nose brings forth blood: so the forcing of wrath brings forth strife.”

^30:15a“The horse tick has two daughters, crying, ‘Give, give!’

^30:15bThere are three things that are never satisfied; yea, four things say not, ‘I have enough’: ^30:16the grave, the barren womb, the earth that is not filled with water, and the fire that says not, ‘I have enough.’”

^30:11“There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless their mother.

^30:12There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet have not been washed from their filthiness.”

^30:13“There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up.

^30:14There is a generation, whose teeth are like swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

^30:17The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.”

^30:1bEl varón dijo a Itiel, incluso a Itiel y a Ucal, diciendo, ^30:2“Ciertamente más rudo soy yo que ninguno, y no tengo entendimiento de hombre. ^30:3Yo ni aprendí sabiduría, ni tengo el conocimiento del Santo.

^30:4“¿Quién subió al Cielo, y descendió? ¿Quién encerró los vientos en sus puños? ¿Quién ató las aguas en un paño? ¿Quién afirmó todos los términos de la tierra? ¿Cuál es su Nombre, y el Nombre de su Hijo, si lo sabes?”.

^30:5“Toda Palabra de Dios es pura: es escudo a los que en él esperan.

^30:6“No añadas a sus palabras, no sea que él te reprenda, y seas hallado mentiroso”.

^30:7“Dos cosas te he demandado; no me las niegues antes que muera: ^30:8vanidad y palabra mentirosa aparta de mí, y no me des pobreza ni riquezas; y sostenme con el pan necesario.

^30:9“En caso de que me convierta saciado, y te niegue, y diga: ‘¿Quién es Jehová?’. O que siendo pobre, y robar, y tomo el nombre de mi Dios en vano”.

^30:18“Tres cosas me son ocultas; aun tampoco sé la cuarta; ^30:19el rastro del águila en el aire, el rastro de la culebra sobre la peña, el rastro de la nave en medio del mar, y el rastro del hombre en la doncella.

^30:29“Tres cosas hay de hermoso andar, y la cuarta pasea muy bien: ^30:30el león, fuerte entre todos los animales, que no vuelve atrás por nada; ^30:31el lebrel ceñido de lomos; asimismo el macho cabrío; y un rey contra el cual ninguno se levanta.

^30:24“Cuatro cosas son de las más pequeñas de la tierra, y las mismas son más sabias que los sabios: ^30:25las hormigas, pueblo no fuerte, y en el verano preparan su comida; ^30:26los conejos, pueblo nada esforzado, y ponen su casa en la piedra; ^30:27las langostas, que no tienen rey, y salen todas por cuadrillas; ^30:28la araña que atrapa con las manos, y está en palacios de rey”.

^30:20“Tal es el proceder de la mujer adúltera: come, y limpia su boca, y dice, ‘No he hecho maldad’”.

^30:21“Por tres cosas se alborota la tierra, y la cuarta no la puede soportar: ^30:22por el siervo cuando reina; y por el necio cuando se harta de pan; ^30:23por la mujer aborrecida cuando se casa; y por la sierva cuando hereda a su señora.

^30:10“No acuses al siervo ante su señor, no sea que te maldiga, y seas hallado culpable. ^30:32Si neciamente te has enaltecido; y si mal pensaste, pon la mano sobre tu boca. ^30:33Ciertamente el que bate la leche, sacará mantequilla; y el que recio se suena la nariz, sacará sangre; y el que provoca la ira, causará contienda”.

^30:15a“La sanguijuela tiene dos hijas, diciendo, ‘¡Dame, dame!’.

^30:15b“Hay tres cosas que nunca están satisfechas; sí, cuatro cosas no dicen, ‘Basta’: ^30:16el sepulcro, la matriz estéril, la tierra que no se sacia de aguas, y el fuego que jamás dice, ‘Basta’”.

^30:11“Hay generación que maldice a su padre, y a su madre no bendice.

^30:12“Hay generación limpia en su propia opinión, si bien no se ha limpiado de su inmundicia”.

^30:13“Hay generación cuyos ojos son altivos, y cuyos párpados son alzados.

^30:14“Hay generación cuyos dientes son espadas, y sus muelas cuchillos, para devorar a los pobres de la tierra, y de entre los hombres a los menesterosos.

^30:17“El ojo que escarnece a su padre, y menosprecia la enseñanza de su madre, los cuervos del valle lo saquen, y lo traguen los aguiluchos”.
