Unique   His heart is steadfast and established in the face of his enemies

The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

⁷He shall not be afraid of evil news.

His heart is steadfast, trusting in Jehovah.

He shall not be afraid, until he looks upon the destruction of his enemies.

Complement   He does many righteous works

⁹He has dispersed; he has given to the poor.

³Trust in Jehovah, and do good; dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed. ⁴Delight yourself also in Jehovah; and he shall give you the desires of your heart.

⁵Commit your way to Jehovah; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. ⁶And he shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noonday.

Complement   Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: for evil-doers shall be cut off

⁷Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him; do not fret yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.

⁸Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret yourself in any manner to do evil: ⁹for evil-doers shall be cut off; but those that wait upon Jehovah, they shall inherit the land.

¹⁰For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be; moreover, you shall diligently consider his place, and it shall not be; ¹¹but the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

¹⁴The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as are of upright conduct. ¹⁵Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

¹⁶A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked: ¹⁷for the arms of the wicked shall be broken; but Jehovah upholds the righteous.

¹⁸Jehovah knows the days of the upright; and their inheritance shall be forever. ¹⁹They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

²⁰But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of Jehovah shall be as the fat of lambs; they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

§Complement   Part 2: Jehovah will bless you if you trust in Him

Complement   The steps of a righteous man are ordered by Jehovah; and he delights in his way

²¹The wicked borrows, and does not repay; but the righteous shows mercy, and gives: ²²for those who are blessed of him shall inherit the land; and they that are cursed of him shall be cut off.

²³The steps of a righteous man are ordered by Jehovah; and he delights in his way. ²⁴Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, because Jehovah upholds him with his hand.

²⁵I have been young, and now am old, yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. ²⁶He is always merciful, and lends; and his seed is blessed.

Complement   The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein forever

²⁷Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell forevermore: ²⁸for Jehovah loves judgment, and does not forsake his saints; they are preserved forever, but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

³⁰The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment. ³¹The Law of his God is in his heart; therefore none of his steps shall slide.

Unique   The salvation of the righteous is of Jehovah

³²The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him. ³³Jehovah will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

³⁴Wait on Jehovah, and keep his way, and he shall exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.

³⁵I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. ³⁶Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was gone; moreover, I sought him, but he could not be found.

³⁷Mark the blameless man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. ³⁸But the transgressors shall be destroyed together; the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

³⁹But the salvation of the righteous is of Jehovah; he is their strength in the time of trouble. ⁴⁰And Jehovah shall help them and deliver them; he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

⁹O fear Jehovah, you his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

¹⁰The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; but they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good thing.

¹¹Come, you children, listen to me, and I will teach you the fear of Jehovah.

Complement   The face of Jehovah looks upon the righteous

¹⁴Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

¹⁵For the eyes of Jehovah are upon the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry.

¹⁶But the face of Jehovah is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Unique   Jehovah is the protector and deliverer of the righteous

¹⁷The righteous cry, and Jehovah hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.

¹⁸Jehovah is near to them who have a broken heart; and delivers those who have a contrite spirit.

¹⁹Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Jehovah delivers him out of them all. ²⁰He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.

²¹Evil shall slay the wicked, and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

²²But Jehovah redeems the soul of his servants; and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

Complement   Jehovah will guide the meek in judgment and teach sinners in his Way

⁹The meek will he guide in judgment; and the meek will he teach his Way.

¹⁰All the paths of Jehovah are mercy and truth to those who keep his Covenant and his Testimonies.

§Complement   Part 2: The mature saint seeks God’s forgiveness from sin and protection from his enemies

Complement   The soul that fears Jehovah shall dwell at ease and learn His Covenant

¹²What man is he that fears Jehovah? Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

¹³His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

¹⁴The secret of Jehovah is with them that fear him; and he will show them his Covenant.

Complement   Bring me out of my distresses

¹⁵My eyes are always toward Jehovah: for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

¹⁶Turn to me, and have mercy upon me: for I am desolate and afflicted.

¹⁷The troubles of my heart are enlarged; O bring me out of my distresses.

Unique   Let me not be ashamed: for I put my trust in and wait upon you

¹⁸Look upon my affliction and my pain, and forgive all my sins.

³His work is honorable and glorious;

and his righteousness endures forever.

Complement   Jehovah cares for his Covenant people

Jehovah is gracious and full of compassion;

⁵he has given food to them that fear him.

He remembers his Covenant forever.

§Complement   Part 2: The Commandments and Works of Jehovah

Complement   The works of Jehovah are truth and judgment

⁶He has shown his people the power of his works,

to give them the inheritance of the heathen.

⁷The works of his hands are truth and judgment.

Complement   The Commandments of Jehovah are sure and stand fast forever and ever

All his Commandments are sure;

⁸they stand fast forever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.

⁹He sent redemption to his people.

Unique   The fear of the Holy and Reverend Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom and understanding

He has commanded his Covenant forever.

Holy and Reverend is his Name.

¹⁰The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom.

A good understanding have all they that do his Commandments.

Unique   Chapter 2.1: The righteous saint delights in the Law of Jehovah (Psalm 1)

§Complement   Introduction: The character of the righteous

¹Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of the scornful.

§Complement   Body: The way of the righteous is fruitful and prosperous

²But his delight is in the Law of Jehovah;

and in his Law does he meditate day and night.

³And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season.

⁴Also his leaf shall not wither, and whatsoever he does shall prosper.

⁵The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

§Unique   Conclusion: The way of the ungodly shall perish

⁶Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the Judgment,

nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

⁷For Jehovah knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Complement    Chapter 2.2: The obedient saint abhors evil in his own house (Psalm 101)

§Unique   Introduction: I will behave myself wisely

¹I will sing of mercy and judgment; to you, O Jehovah, will I sing.

²I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way.

O when will you come to me?

§Complement   Body: I will set no wicked thing before me or touch it

I will walk within my house with a faithful heart.

³I will set no wicked thing before my eyes.

I hate the work of them that turn aside to evil; it shall not cling to me.

⁴A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness.

⁵Whoso secretly slanders his neighbor, him will I cut off; he that has a high look and a proud heart, I will not tolerate.

§Complement   Body: I will wash my hands in innocence; so will I surround your altar with thanksgiving

⁴I have not sat with vain persons; neither will I go in with hypocrites. ⁵I have hated the congregation of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.

⁶I will wash my hands in innocence;

so will I compass your altar, O Jehovah, ⁷that I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all your wondrous works.

⁸Jehovah, I have loved the habitation of your House, and the place where your honor dwells.

⁹Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men; ¹⁰in whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.

¹¹But as for me, I will walk in my integrity.

Redeem me, and be merciful to me.

Único   Los brazos de los impíos serán quebrados; pero Jehová sostiene a los justos

¹²Maquina el impío contra el justo, y cruje sobre él sus dientes. ¹³El Señor se reirá de él: porque ve que viene su día.

¹⁴Los impíos han desenvainado la espada y entesado su arco, para derribar al pobre y al menesteroso, para matar a los de recto proceder. ¹⁵La espada de ellos entrará en su mismo corazón, y su arco será quebrado.

¹⁶Mejor es lo poco del justo, que las riquezas de muchos pecadores: ¹⁷porque los brazos de los impíos serán quebrados; pero Jehová sostiene a los justos.

¹⁸Conoce Jehová los días de los perfectos; y la heredad de ellos será para siempre. ¹⁹No serán avergonzados en el mal tiempo; y en los días de hambre serán saciados.

²⁰Pero los impíos perecerán, y los enemigos de Jehová como la grasa de los carneros serán consumidos; se disiparán como humo.

³⁴Espera en Jehová, y guarda su camino, y él te exaltará para heredar la tierra: cuando sean talados los pecadores, lo verás.

³⁵Vi yo al impío sumamente enaltecido, y que se extendía como un laurel verde. ³⁶Pero pasó, y he aquí, ya no estaba; lo busqué, y no fue hallado.

³⁷Considera al íntegro, y mira al justo: porque la postrimería de ellos es paz. ³⁸Pero los transgresores serán todos a una destruidos; la postrimería de los impíos será talada.

³⁹Pero la salvación de los justos viene de Jehová; él es su fortaleza en el tiempo de la angustia. ⁴⁰Jehová los ayudará, y los librará; los librará de los impíos, y los salvará, por cuanto en él confiaron.

¹La tierra pertenece a Jehová, y todo en él; el mundo, y los que habitan en ello: ²porque él lo ha fundado sobre los mares, y la estableció sobre los ríos.

³¿Quién subirá al monte de Jehová? ¿O quien estará de pie en su lugar santo? ⁴El que tiene manos limpias y un corazón puro; quien no ha elevado su alma a la vanidad, ni ha jurado engañosamente. ⁵Él recibirá la bendición desde Jehová, y justicia desde el Dios de su salvación.

Lo opuesto   Capítulo 2.5: Sólo los obedientes puedan morar en la presencia de Jehová (Salmo 15)

¹Jehová, ¿quién habitará en tu Tabernáculo?

¿Quién morará en tu santo monte?

²El quien camina rectamente y obra justicia, y habla la verdad en su corazón. ³El que no calumnia con su lengua, ni hace mal a su prójimo, ni levanta un reproche contra su prójimo.

⁴En cuyos ojos una persona vil es despreciada; pero honra a los que temen a Jehová. El quien jura a su propio daño, y no cambia su mente. ⁵Él no presta su dinero para intereses, ni toma recompensa contra los inocentes.

El que hace estas cosas, jamás será agitado.
