⁴There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the Tabernacles of the most High. ⁵God is in her midst; she shall not be shaken. God shall help her, when the Morning appears.

⁶The heathen raged; the kingdoms were moved; he uttered his voice; the earth melted. ⁷Jehovah of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

⁸Come, behold the works of Jehovah, what desolations he has made in the earth. ⁹He makes wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and cuts the spear in pieces; he burns the chariot in the fire.

¹⁰“Be still, and know that I am the true God. I will be exalted among the heathen; I will be exalted in the earth.” ¹¹Jehovah of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Opposite   Chapter 1.2: Jehovah dwells in the Hill of God (Psalm 68)

¹Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered; let them also that hate him flee before him. ²As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. ³But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God; moreover, let them exceedingly rejoice. ⁴Sing to God, sing praises to his Name; extol him that rides upon the heavens by his Name JAH, and rejoice before him. ⁵A Father of the fatherless, and a Judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. ⁶God sets the solitary in families; he brings out those who are bound with chains, but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

⁷O God, when you went forth before your people, when you marched through the wilderness, Selah; ⁸the earth shook; the heavens also dropped at the presence of God; even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel. ⁹You, O God, sent a plentiful rain, whereby you confirmed your inheritance, when it was weary. ¹⁰Your congregation has dwelt therein; you, O God, have prepared of your goodness for the poor. ¹¹The Lord gave the Word: great was the company of those that published it. ¹²Kings of armies fled apace; and she that waited at home divided the plunder. ¹³Though you have lien among the pots, yet you shall be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold. ¹⁴When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it was white as snow in Salmon. ¹⁵The hill of God is like the hill of Bashan; a high hill as the hill of Bashan. ¹⁶Why do you leap, you high hills? This is the hill which God desires to dwell in; moreover, Jehovah will dwell in it forever. ¹⁷The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels; the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place. ¹⁸You have ascended on high; you have led captivity captive; you have received gifts for men; moreover, for the rebellious also, that Jehovah God might dwell among them. ¹⁹Blessed is the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. ²⁰He that is our God is the God of salvation; and to Jehovah the Lord belong the issues from death. ²¹But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such a one as goes on still in his trespasses. ²²The Lord said, “I will bring again from Bashan; I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea, ²³that your foot may be dipped in the blood of your enemies, and the tongue of your dogs in the same.”

²⁴They have seen your goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the Sanctuary. ²⁵The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the young girls playing with timbrels. ²⁶Bless God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel. ²⁷There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulon, and the princes of Naphtali. ²⁸Your God has commanded your strength; strengthen, O God, that which you have made for us. ²⁹Because of your Temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents to you. ³⁰Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the people, until every one submits himself with pieces of silver; scatter the people that delight in war. ³¹Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands to God.

³²Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises to the Lord, Selah; ³³to him that rides upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he sends out his voice, and that a mighty voice. ³⁴Ascribe strength unto God; his excellence is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.

³⁵O God, you are dreadful out of your holy places; the God of Israel is he that gives strength and power to his people. Blessed be God.

Complement    Chapter 1.3: The House of Jehovah is in Mount Zion (Psalm 122)

§Unique   Introduction: Our feet shall stand without your gates, O Jerusalem

¹I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the House of Jehovah.”

²Our feet shall stand within your gates, O Jerusalem.

³Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together.

§Complement   Body: The tribes of Israel go to Jerusalem, because the thrones of judgment of the house of David are there

⁴The tribes go up there, the tribes of Jehovah, to the Testimony of Israel, to give thanks to the Name of Jehovah.

⁵For thrones of judgment are set there:

the thrones of the house of David.

⁶Pray for the peace of Jerusalem;

they shall prosper that love you.

¹His foundation is in the holy mountains.

⁴I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me;

Opposite   Chapter 2.1: Jehovah will prolong the Messiah’s life, and his years as many generations (Psalm 61)

¹Hear my cry, O God. Attend to my prayer. ²From the end of the earth will I cry to you, when my heart is overwhelmed.

Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I: ³for you have been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

⁴I will remain in your Tabernacle forever; I will trust in the covert of your wings. Selah.

⁵For you, O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those that fear your Name.

⁶You will prolong the King’s life, and his years as many generations; ⁷he shall remain before God forever. O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him; ⁸so will I sing praise to your Name forever, that I may daily perform my vows.

Opposite   Chapter 2.2: Jehovah promised to conditionally bless David and his sons (Psalm 132)

¹Jehovah, remember David, and all his afflictions; ²how he swore to Jehovah, and vowed to the mighty God of Jacob: ³“Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed. ⁴I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids, ⁵until I find a place for Jehovah, a habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.” ⁶Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah; we found it in the fields of the wood. ⁷We will go into his tabernacles; we will worship at his footstool.

⁸Arise, O Jehovah, into your rest; you, and the Ark of your strength. ⁹Let your priests be clothed with righteousness; and let your saints shout for joy. ¹⁰For your servant David’s sake, turn not away the face of your Anointed.

¹¹Jehovah has sworn in truth to David, and he will not turn from it, saying, “Of the fruit of your body will I set upon your throne. ¹²If your children will keep my Covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon your throne forevermore.

¹³For Jehovah has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation. ¹⁴This is my rest forever; here will I dwell: for I have desired it. ¹⁵I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. ¹⁶I will also clothe her priests with salvation; and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

¹⁷There will I make the horn of David to bud; I have ordained a lamp for my anointed. ¹⁸His enemies will I clothe with shame; but upon himself shall his crown flourish.”

Complement    Chapter 2.3: Jehovah taught the hands of David to make war (Psalm 18)

§Unique   Introduction: David called upon Jehovah, his Rock, fortress, and deliverer; to be saved from his enemies

¹I will love you, O Jehovah, my strength.

²Jehovah is my Rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield, the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

³I will call upon Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.

§Complement   Body: Jehovah delivered David from his enemies and made him victorious in battle

⁴The sorrows of death surrounded me, and the torrents of ungodly men made me afraid. ⁵The sorrows of Hell surrounded me; the snares of death went before me. ⁶In my distress I called upon Jehovah, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of his Temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

⁷Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was angry. ⁸Smoke went up out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured; coals were kindled by it. ⁹He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet. ¹⁰And he rode upon a cherub, and flew; moreover, he flew upon the wings of the wind. ¹¹He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him was dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. ¹²At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed: hail stones and coals of fire. ¹³Jehovah also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice: hail stones and coals of fire. ¹⁴Moreover, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightning bolts, and put them to flight. ¹⁵Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at your rebuke, O Jehovah; at the blast of the breath of your nostrils. ¹⁶He sent from above; he took me; he drew me out of many waters. ¹⁷He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them who hated me: for they were too strong for me. ¹⁸They went before me in the day of my calamity; but Jehovah was my support. ¹⁹He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

²⁰Jehovah rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands has he repaid me: ²¹for I have kept the ways of Jehovah, and have not wickedly departed from my God: ²²for all his Judgments were before me, and I did not put away his Statutes from me. ²³I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from my iniquity; ²⁴therefore Jehovah has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. ²⁵With the merciful you will show yourself merciful; with an upright man you will show yourself upright; ²⁶with the pure you will show yourself pure; and with the perverse you will show yourself unsavory: ²⁷for you will save the afflicted people, but will bring down high looks: ²⁸for you will light my candle; Jehovah my God will enlighten my darkness: ²⁹for by you I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

³⁰As for God, his way is perfect; the Word of Jehovah is tested; he is a shield to all those that trust in him: ³¹for who is God except Jehovah? Or who is a Rock except our God? ³²It is God that girds me with strength, and makes my way perfect. ³³He makes my feet like hinds’ feet, and sets me upon my high places. ³⁴He teaches my hands to make war, so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms. ³⁵You have also given me the shield of your salvation; and your right hand has held me up, and your gentleness has made me great. ³⁶You have enlarged my steps under me, so that my feet did not slip.

³⁷I have pursued my enemies, and overtaken them; neither did I turn again until they were consumed. ³⁸I have wounded them, so that they were not able to rise; they have fallen under my feet: ³⁹for you have girded me with strength to the battle; you have subdued under me those that rose up against me. ⁴⁰You have also given me the necks of my enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me. ⁴¹They cried, but there was none to save them; even to Jehovah, but he did not answer them. ⁴²Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind; I cast them out as the dirt in the streets. ⁴³You have delivered me from the strivings of the people, and you have made me the head of the heathen; a people whom I have not known shall serve me. ⁴⁴As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me; the strangers shall submit themselves to me. ⁴⁵The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

§Complement   Conclusion: Jehovah delivered David from the violent man and subdued the people under him

⁴⁶Jehovah lives; and blessed is my Rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

⁴⁷It is God that avenges me, and subdues the people under me. ⁴⁸He delivers me from my enemies; moreover, you lift me up above those that rise up against me; you have delivered me from the violent man.

⁴⁹Therefore will I give thanks to you, O Jehovah, among the heathen, and sing praises to your Name. ⁵⁰Great deliverance gives he to his king, and shows mercy to his anointed: to David, and to his seed forevermore.

Complement    Chapter 2.4: Jehovah taught the hands of David to make war (Psalm 144)

§Unique   Introduction: Jehovah was David's goodness, fortress, high tower and deliverer, who subdued his people under him

¹Blessed is Jehovah my strength, who teaches my hands to make war, and my fingers to fight.

²He is my goodness, and my fortress, my high tower, and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I trust;

who subdues my people under me.

§Complement   Body: Bow your heavens, O Jehovah; and come down; deliver me from the hand of strange children

³Jehovah, what is man, that you take knowledge of him! Or the son of man, that you make account of him! ⁴Man is like a breath; his days are as a shadow that passes away.

⁵Bow your heavens, O Jehovah, and come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. ⁶Cast forth lightning, and scatter them; shoot out your arrows, and destroy them.

⁷Send your hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great water, from the hand of strange children, ⁸whose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

⁹I will sing a new song to you, O God; upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises to you.

¹⁰It is you that gives salvation to kings, who delivers David his servant from the hurtful sword.

§Complement   Conclusion: Deliver me from the hand of strange children, so that the people of Israel may be happy and prosperous

¹¹Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood, ¹²so that our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as cornerstones, polished after the similitude of a palace; ¹³that our barns may be full, affording all manner of store; that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets; ¹⁴that our oxen may be strong to labor; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.

¹⁵Happy is that people, that is in such a case.

Yea, happy is that people, whose God is Jehovah.

Unique   Chapter 2.5: Jehovah anointed David with his holy oil (Psalm 89)

§Complement   Introduction: Jehovah God of hosts is a strong Jehovah

¹I will sing of the mercies of Jehovah forever; with my mouth will I make known your faithfulness to all generations: ²for I have said, “Mercy shall be built up forever; your faithfulness shall you establish in the very heavens.” ³“I have made a Covenant with my chosen; I have sworn to David my servant, saying, ⁴‘Your seed will I establish forever, and build up your throne to all generations.’” Selah.

⁵And the heavens shall praise your wonders, O Jehovah; your faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints: ⁶for who in the Heaven can be compared to Jehovah? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to Jehovah? ⁷God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are around him. ⁸O Jehovah God of hosts, who is a strong Jehovah like you? Or to your faithfulness round about you? ⁹You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves arise, you still them. ¹⁰You have broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; you have scattered your enemies with your strong arm. ¹¹The heavens are yours, the earth also is yours; as for the world and its fullness, you have founded them. ¹²The north and the south, you have created them; Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in your Name. ¹³You have a mighty arm; strong is your hand, and high is your right hand. ¹⁴Justice and judgment are the habitation of your throne; mercy and truth shall go before your face.

¹⁵Blessed are the people that know the joyful sound; they shall walk, O Jehovah, in the light of your countenance. ¹⁶In your Name shall they rejoice all the day; and in your righteousness shall they be exalted: ¹⁷for you are the glory of their strength, and in your favor our horn shall be exalted: ¹⁸for Jehovah is our defense; and the Holy One of Israel is our King.

§Complement   Body: Jehovah will bring the Messiah into the world through the descendants of David

¹⁹Then you spoke in vision to your holy one, and said, “I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. ²⁰I have found David my servant; I have anointed him with my holy oil; ²¹with whom my hand shall be established; my arm also shall strengthen him.

²²The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor shall the son of wickedness afflict him. ²³And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.

²⁴But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him; and in my Name shall his horn be exalted. ²⁵I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers. ²⁶He shall cry to me, ‘You are my father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’

²⁷Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. ²⁸My mercy will I keep for him forevermore, and my Covenant shall stand fast with him. ²⁹His seed also will I make to endure forever, and his throne as the days of Heaven. ³⁰If his children forsake my Law, and do not walk in my Judgments; ³¹if they break my Statutes, and do not keep my Commandments, ³²then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

³³Nevertheless my loving-kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor allow my faithfulness to fail. ³⁴My Covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that has gone out of my lips. ³⁵Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie to David; ³⁶his seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me; ³⁷it shall be established forever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in Heaven. Selah.”

§Unique   Conclusion: But for now, Jehovah has allowed the enemies of Israel to plunder them and defeat his armies

³⁸But you have cast off and abhorred; you have been angry with your anointed. ³⁹You have made void the Covenant of your servant; you have profaned his crown by casting it to the ground. ⁴⁰You have broken down all his hedges; you have brought his strong holds to ruin. ⁴¹All that pass by the way plunder him; he is a reproach to his neighbors. ⁴²You have set up the right hand of his adversaries; you have made all his enemies to rejoice. ⁴³You have also turned the edge of his sword, and have not made him to stand in the battle. ⁴⁴You have made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground. ⁴⁵You have shortened the days of his youth; you have covered him with shame. Selah.

⁴⁶How long, Jehovah? Will you hide yourself forever? Shall your wrath burn like fire? ⁴⁷Remember how short my time is; why have you made all men in vain? ⁴⁸What man is he that lives, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah. ⁴⁹Lord, where are your former loving-kindnesses that you swore to David in your truth? ⁵⁰Remember, Lord, the reproach of your servants, how I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people; ⁵¹with which your enemies have reproached, O Jehovah, with which they have reproached the footsteps of your anointed.

⁵²Blessed is Jehovah forevermore. Amen, and Amen.

El Señor está entre ellos, como en el Sinaí, así en el santuario. ¹⁸Subiste a lo alto, cautivaste la cautividad, tomaste dones para los hombres, y también para los rebeldes, para que habite entre ellos Jehová Dios. ¹⁹Bendito sea el Señor; cada día nos colma de bendiciones el Dios de nuestra salvación. Lo opuesto   Capítulo 2.2: Jehová prometió bendecir condicionalmente a David y a sus hijos (Salmo 132)

¹¹En verdad Jehová juró a David, y él no apartará de ello, diciendo, “Del fruto de tus lomos pondré sobre tu trono. ¹²Si tus hijos guardaren mi Pacto, y mi testimonio que yo les enseñaré, sus hijos también se sentarán sobre tu trono para siempre.

¹³Porque Jehová ha elegido a Sión; la deseó por habitación para sí. ¹⁴Éste es mi lugar de reposo para siempre; aquí habitaré: porque la he deseado. ¹⁵Bendeciré en gran manera su provisión; a sus pobres saciaré de pan. ¹⁶Asimismo vestiré de salvación a sus sacerdotes, y sus santos darán voces de júbilo.

¹⁷Allí haré reverdecer el cuerno de David; he preparado lámpara a mi ungido. ¹⁸A sus enemigos vestiré de confusión; pero sobre él florecerá su corona”.

⁴Me rodearon los dolores de la muerte, y torrentes de hombres perversos me atemorizaron. ⁵Dolores del Infierno me rodearon, me previnieron lazos de muerte. ⁶En mi angustia invoqué a Jehová, y clamé a mi Dios. Él oyó mi voz desde su templo, y mi clamor llegó delante de él, a sus oídos.

⁷La tierra se estremeció y tembló; se conmovieron los cimientos de los montes, y se estremecieron: porque se indignó él. ⁸Humo subió de su nariz, y de su boca fuego consumidor; carbones fueron por él encendidos. ⁹Inclinó los cielos, y descendió; y densa oscuridad había debajo de sus pies. ¹⁰Y cabalgó sobre un querubín, y voló; voló sobre las alas del viento. ¹¹Hizo de las tinieblas su escondedero, su pabellón en derredor de sí; oscuridad de aguas, nubes de los cielos. ¹²Por el resplandor de su presencia, sus nubes pasaron; granizo y carbones encendidos. ¹³Y tronó en los cielos Jehová, y el Altísimo dio su voz; granizo y carbones encendidos. ¹⁴Envió sus saetas, y los dispersó; lanzó relámpagos, y los destruyó. ¹⁵Entonces aparecieron los senderos de las aguas, y se descubrieron los cimientos del mundo, a tu reprensión, oh Jehová, por el soplo del aliento de tu nariz. ¹⁶Envió desde lo alto; me tomó, me sacó de las muchas aguas. ¹⁷Me libró de mi poderoso enemigo, y de los que me aborrecían, pues ellos eran más fuertes que yo. ¹⁸Me asaltaron en el día de mi quebranto; pero Jehová fue mi apoyo. ¹⁹Él me sacó a lugar espacioso; me libró: porque se agradó de mí.

²⁰Jehová me pagó conforme a mi justicia; conforme a la limpieza de mis manos me ha recompensado: ²¹porque yo he guardado los caminos de Jehová, y no me aparté impíamente de mi Dios. ²²Pues todos sus Juicios estuvieron delante de mí, y no eché de mí sus Estatutos. ²³Y fui íntegro para con él, y me guardé de mi maldad. ²⁴Por tanto Jehová me pagó conforme a mi justicia; conforme a la limpieza de mis manos delante de sus ojos. ²⁵Con el misericordioso te mostrarás misericordioso, y recto para con el hombre íntegro. ²⁶Limpio te mostrarás para con el limpio, y severo serás para con el perverso. ²⁷Y tú salvarás al pueblo afligido, y humillarás los ojos altivos. ²⁸Tú, pues, encenderás mi lámpara; Jehová mi Dios alumbrará mis tinieblas. ²⁹Pues por ti he desbaratado ejércitos; y por mi Dios he saltado muros.

³⁰En cuanto a Dios, perfecto es su camino; la Palabra de Jehová es acrisolada; es escudo a todos los que en él esperan: ³¹porque ¿quién es Dios fuera de Jehová? ¿Y qué roca hay aparte de nuestro Dios? ³²Dios es el que me ciñe de poder, y hace perfecto mi camino; ³³quien hace mis pies como de ciervas, y me hace estar firme sobre mis alturas; ³⁴él adiestra mis manos para la batalla, de modo que una arco de acero se rompe por mis brazos. ³⁵Me diste asimismo el escudo de tu salvación, y tu diestra me sustentó, y tu benignidad me ha engrandecido. ³⁶Ensanchaste mis pasos debajo de mí, para que mis pies no resbalasen.

³⁷Perseguí a mis enemigos, y los alcancé, y no volví hasta acabarlos. ³⁸Los herí, de modo que no pudieron levantarse; cayeron debajo de mis pies. ³⁹Pues me ceñiste de fuerza para la pelea; has sometido bajo mis pies a los que se levantaron contra mí. ⁴⁰Y me has dado la cerviz de mis enemigos, para que yo destruya a los que me aborrecen. ⁴¹Clamaron, y no hubo quien los salvase; aun a Jehová, pero él no les respondió. ⁴²Y los molí como polvo delante del viento; los eché fuera como lodo de las calles. ⁴³Me libraste de las contiendas del pueblo; me pusiste por cabeza de gentes; pueblo que yo no conocía, me servirá. ⁴⁴Así que hubieren oído de mí, me obedecerán; los hijos de extraños se someterán a mí; ⁴⁵Los extraños se debilitarán, saldrán temblando de sus escondrijos.

§El complemento   Conclusión: Jehová libró a David del hombre violento y sometió al pueblo debajo de él

⁴⁶Viva Jehová, y bendita sea mi Roca; y enaltecido sea el Dios de mi salvación.

⁴⁷Es Dios quién por mí cobra venganza, y sujeta pueblos debajo de mí. ⁴⁸El que me libra de mis enemigos; tú me enalteciste sobre los que se levantan contra mí; me has librado del hombre violento.

⁴⁹Por tanto yo te confesaré entre las gentes, oh Jehová, y cantaré salmos a tu Nombre. ⁵⁰Grandes triunfos da a su rey, y hace misericordia a su ungido, a David y a su simiente, para siempre.

El complemento   Capítulo 2.4: Jehová enseñó las manos de David para hacer la guerra (Salmo 144)

§Único   Introducción: Jehová fue la bondad de David, fortaleza, torre alta y libertador, quien sometió a su pueblo debajo de él

¹Bendito es Jehová mi fuerza, quien enseña mis manos para hacer la guerra, y mis dedos para combatir.

²Misericordia mía y mi castillo, fortaleza mía y mi Libertador, escudo mío, en quien he confiado;

el que somete a mi pueblo delante de mí.

§El complemento   Cuerpo: Inclina tus cielos, oh Jehová; y baja; líbrame de la mano de niños extraños

³Oh Jehová, ¿qué es el hombre, para que en él pienses? ¿O el hijo del hombre, para que lo estimes? ⁴El hombre es semejante a la vanidad; sus días son como la sombra que pasa.

⁵Oh Jehová, inclina tus cielos y desciende; toca los montes, y humeen. ⁶Despide relámpagos, y dispérsalos, envía tus saetas, y túrbalos.

⁷Extiende tu mano desde lo alto; rescátame, y líbrame de las muchas aguas, de la mano de los hijos de extraños; ⁸cuya boca habla vanidad, y su diestra es diestra de mentira.

⁹Oh Dios, a ti cantaré canción nueva; con salterio, con decacordio cantaré a ti.

¹⁰Tú, el que da salvación a los reyes, el que libra a David su siervo de maligna espada.

§El complemento   Conclusión: Líbrame de la mano de hijos extranjeros, para que el pueblo de Israel sea feliz y próspero

¹¹Rescátame, y líbrame de mano de los hijos extraños, cuya boca habla vanidad, y su diestra es diestra de mentira. ¹²Que nuestros hijos sean como plantas crecidas en su juventud; nuestras hijas como las esquinas labradas a manera de las de un palacio; ¹³nuestros graneros llenos, provistos de toda clase de grano; nuestros ganados, se multipliquen de millares y decenas de millares en nuestros campos; ¹⁴que nuestros bueyes estén fuertes para el trabajo; que no tengamos asalto, ni que hacer salida, ni grito de alarma en nuestras plazas.

¹⁵Bienaventurado es el pueblo que tiene esto.

Sí, bienaventurado es el pueblo cuyo Dios es Jehová.

Único   Capítulo 2.5: Jehová ungido a David con su aceite Santo (Salmo 89)

§El complemento   Introducción: Jehová Dios de los ejércitos es un Jehová fuerte

¹Las misericordias de Jehová cantaré por siempre; con mi boca daré a conocer tu fidelidad a todas las generaciones: ²porque dije, “Para siempre será edificada misericordia; en los mismos cielos apoyarás tu verdad”. ³“Hice alianza con mi escogido; Juré a David mi siervo, diciendo, ⁴‘Para siempre confirmaré tu simiente, y edificaré tu trono por todas las generaciones’”. Selah.

⁵Los cielos celebrarán tus maravillas, oh Jehová; tu fidelidad también en la congregación de los santos: ⁶porque ¿quién en los Cielo se comparará a Jehová? ¿Quién será semejante a Jehová entre los hijos de los poderosos? ⁷Dios terrible en la gran congregación de los santos, y formidable sobre todos cuantos están a su alrededor. ⁸Oh Jehová, Dios de los ejércitos, ¿Quién como tú? Poderoso eres, Jehová, y tu fidelidad te rodea. ⁹Tú tienes dominio sobre la braveza del mar; cuando se levantan sus ondas, tú las sosiegas. ¹⁰Tú quebrantaste a Rahab como a un muerto; con tu brazo fuerte esparciste a tus enemigos. ¹¹Tuyos los cielos, tuya también la tierra; el mundo y su plenitud, tú lo fundaste. ¹²Al norte y al sur tú los creaste; Tabor y Hermón cantarán en tu Nombre. ¹³Tú tienes brazo fuerte; poderosa es tu mano, exaltada es tu diestra. ¹⁴Justicia y juicio son el fundamento de tu trono; misericordia y verdad van delante de tu rostro.

¹⁵Bienaventurado el pueblo que sabe aclamarte; andará, oh Jehová, a la luz de tu rostro. ¹⁶En tu Nombre se alegrarán todo el día; y en tu justicia serán exaltados: ¹⁷porque tú eres la gloria de su fortaleza; y por tu buena voluntad exaltarás nuestro cuerno: ¹⁸porque Jehová es nuestro escudo; y nuestro Rey es el Santo de Israel.

§El complemento   Cuerpo: Jehová traerá al Mesías al mundo a través de los descendientes de David

¹⁹Entonces hablaste en visión a tu santo, y dijiste, “He puesto el socorro sobre uno que es poderoso; he enaltecido a un escogido de mi pueblo. ²⁰Hallé a David mi siervo; lo ungí con mi óleo santo. ²¹Mi mano será firme con él, mi brazo también lo fortalecerá.

²²No lo avasallará enemigo, ni hijo de iniquidad lo quebrantará. ²³Pero yo quebrantaré delante de él a sus enemigos, y heriré a los que le aborrecen.

²⁴Y mi verdad y mi misericordia serán con él; y en mi Nombre será exaltado su cuerno. ²⁵Asimismo pondré su mano en el mar, y en los ríos su diestra. ²⁶Él me llamará, ‘Mi Padre eres tú, mi Dios, y la Roca de mi salvación’.

²⁷Yo también lo haré mi primogénito, alto sobre los reyes de la tierra. ²⁸Para siempre le conservaré mi misericordia; y mi Pacto será firme con él. ²⁹Y estableceré su simiente para siempre, y su trono como los días de los Cielo. ³⁰Si dejaren sus hijos mi ley, y no anduvieren en mis Juicios; ³¹si profanaren mis Estatutos, y no guardaren mis Mandamientos; ³²tentonces visitaré con vara su rebelión, y con azotes sus iniquidades.

³³Pero no quitaré de él mi misericordia, ni falsearé mi fidelidad. ³⁴No olvidaré mi Pacto, ni mudaré lo que ha salido de mis labios. ³⁵Una vez he jurado por mi santidad, que no mentiré a David. ³⁶Su simiente será para siempre, y su trono como el sol delante de mí. ³⁷Como la luna será firme para siempre, y como un testigo fiel en el Cielo. Selah”.

§Único   Conclusión: Pero por ahora, Jehová ha permitido que los enemigos de Israel los saqueen y derroten a sus ejércitos

³⁸Pero tú desechaste y menospreciaste a tu ungido; y te has airado con él. ³⁹Rompiste el Pacto de tu siervo; has profanado su corona hasta la tierra. ⁴⁰Rompiste todos sus vallados; has quebrantado sus fortalezas. ⁴¹Lo saquean todos los que pasan por el camino; es oprobio a sus vecinos. ⁴²Has exaltado la diestra de sus enemigos; has alegrado a todos sus adversarios. ⁴³Embotaste asimismo el filo de su espada, y no lo levantaste en la batalla. ⁴⁴Hiciste cesar su brillo, y echaste su trono por tierra. ⁴⁵Has acortado los días de su juventud; le has cubierto de afrenta. Selah.

⁴⁶¿Hasta cuándo, oh Jehová? ¿Te esconderás para siempre? ¿Arderá tu ira como el fuego? ⁴⁷Acuérdate de cuán breve es mi tiempo; ¿por qué habrás creado en vano a todos los hijos del hombre? ⁴⁸¿Qué hombre vivirá y no verá muerte? ¿Librarás su vida del poder del sepulcro? Selah. ⁴⁹Señor, ¿dónde están tus antiguas misericordias, que juraste a David por tu verdad? ⁵⁰Señor, acuérdate del oprobio de tus siervos; oprobio de muchos pueblos, que llevo en mi seno. ⁵¹Porque tus enemigos, oh Jehová, han deshonrado, han deshonrado los pasos de tu ungido.

⁵²Bendito sea Jehová para siempre. Amén, y Amén.
