§Complement (C) Introduction: Obey the will of Jehovah your God and embrace Jesus Christ as your Messiah (12:1 - 13)

¶Opposite (O) Keep your eyes on Christ and follow his example of obedience to become a completed Jew (12:1 - 4)

C ^12:1Therefore seeing we also are surrounded with such a great cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily snares us; and let us run the racecourse that is set before us with patience;

C ^12:2looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith;

who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame;

and he is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

^12:3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest you are wearied and faint in your minds.

^12:4You have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

¶Opposite (O) Endure the discipline of your Heavenly Father that you might be partakers of his holiness (12:5 - 8)

^12:5And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, “My son, despise not the discipline of [Jehovah], nor faint when you are rebuked by him: ^12:6for whom [Jehovah] loves he disciplines, and scourges every son whom he receives.” ^12:7If you endure discipline, God deals with you as with sons: for what son is he whom the father does not discipline?

^12:8But if you are without discipline, of which all are partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not truly sons of God.

^12:9Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence.

Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live? ^12:10For they truly disciplined us for a few days after their own pleasure; but he for our spiritual good, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

C ^12:11Now, no discipline seems to be joyful for the moment, but painful; yet afterward, it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who experience it.

C ^12:12Therefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; ^12:13and make straight paths for your feet, so that the lame part cannot be dislocated; but rather can be healed.

§Complement (C) Body: See that you do not refuse the will of your God, who is a consuming fire (12:14 - 13:17)

¶Unique (U) Remember Esau who did not value his inheritance (12:14 - 17)

^12:14Follow peace with everyone;

and holiness, without which, no man shall see the Lord.

^12:15Looking diligently lest anyone falls short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up troubles you, and thereby many are defiled.

^12:16Lest there be any fornicator, or godless person; such as Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.

C ^12:17For you know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected:

C for he found no change of mind in his father, though he sought it earnestly with tears.

¶Complement (C) The Law of Moses caused fear; but the blood of Jesus brings eternal peace with God (12:18 - 24)

C ^12:18For you have not come to the mountain that might be touched; and that burned with fire, nor to blackness, and darkness, and tempest;

C ^12:19and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of God’s words.

Which they that heard it begged that the Word would not be spoken to them anymore: ^12:20for they could not endure that which was commanded: “And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a javelin.”

^12:21And so terrible was the sight, Moses said, “I exceedingly fear and tremble.”

^12:22But you have come to mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem; and to an innumerable company of angels, ^12:23to the festive gathering and Assembly of the firstborn, who are written in Heaven; and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous ones made perfect;

^12:24and to Jesus the Mediator of the New Covenant; and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than the animal sacrifice of Abel.

¶Complement (C) Do not refuse Him that speaks from Heaven, for He is a consuming fire (12:25 - 29)

C ^12:25See that you do not refuse him that speaks:

C for if they did not escape who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from Heaven.

^12:26Whose voice then shook the earth;

but now he has promised, saying, “Yet once more, I will shake not the earth only, but also Heaven.”

^12:27And this word, “Yet once more,” signifying the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

^12:28Therefore, we receiving a Kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us utilize grace, by which we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and godly fear: ^12:29for our God is a consuming fire!

¶Opposite (O) Continue to observe the moral Laws of Moses (13:1 - 7)

C ^13:1Let brotherly love continue; ^13:2be not forgetful to host strangers: for thereby some have hosted angels unknowingly.

C ^13:3Remember them who are in bound in chains, as bound with them; and those who suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

^13:4Marriage by all is honorable, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers, God will judge.

^13:5Let your conduct be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for he has said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” ^13:6So that we may boldly say, “‘The Lord is my helper’; and ‘I will not fear what man can do to me.’”

^13:7Remember them who rule over you, who have spoken to you the Word of God;

whose faith follow: considering the end of their conduct.

¶Opposite (O) Separate yourselves from the world unto Christ (13:8 - 17)

^13:8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and into the Ages. ^13:9Be not carried about with various and strange doctrines: for it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace.

But not with foods, which have not benefited them that have been occupied in it.

^13:10We have an altar, of which they who serve the Tabernacle, have no right to eat: ^13:11for the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the Sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp; ^13:12therefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate. ^13:13Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach: ^13:14for here we have no permanent city, but we seek one to come.

^13:15By him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually; that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his Name.

C ^13:16But to do good, and to share forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

C ^13:17Obey them that rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account to God; that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

§Unique (U) Conclusion: Serve God in your local Assembly (13:18 - 25)

¶Complement (C) The Lord Jesus make you complete in every good work to do his will (13:18 - 21)

^13:18Pray for us: for we trust that we have a good conscience; in all things, willing to live honestly.

^13:19But I encourage you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you even sooner.

^13:20Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting New Covenant, ^13:21make you complete in every good work to do his will;

working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ;

C to whom be glory into the Ages of the Ages.

C Amen.

¶Complement (C) Greet all those in the Lord (13:22 - 25)

^13:22And I exhort you, brethren, endure the Word of exhortation: for I have written a letter to you in few words.

^13:23Know that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he comes shortly, I will see you.

^13:24Greet all them that rule over you, and all the saints.

They of Italy greet you.

C ^13:25Grace be with you all.

§El complemento (C) Introducción: Obedeced la voluntad de Jehová vuestro Dios y aceptad a Jesucristo como vuestro Mesías (12:1 - 13)

¶Lo opuesto (O) Mantén tus ojos en Cristo y seguid su ejemplo de obediencia para convertirte en un judío completo (12:1 - 4)

C ^12:1Por tanto, viendo que también estamos rodeados de una nube tan grande de testigos, despojémonos de cada peso, y el pecado que tan fácilmente nos asedia; corramos la carrera que está puesta delante de nosotros con paciencia;

C ^12:2mirando hasta Jesús, el autor y consumador de la nuestra fe;

quien, por el gozo puesto delante de él, soportó la cruz, despreciando la vergüenza;

y ahora élestá sentado a la diestra del trono de Dios.

^12:3Porque considerad a él quien soportó tal contradicción de los pecadores contra sí mismo, no sea que estés cansado y débil en tus mentes.

^12:4Aún no habéis resistido hasta la sangre, luchando contra el pecado.

¶Lo opuesto (O) Soportad la disciplina de tu Padre Celestial para convertirte en un judío completo (12:5 - 13)

^12:5Y ustedes ha olvidado la exhortación que habla a ustedes como a niños: “Hijo mío, no desprecies la disciplina de [Jehová], ni desmayes cuando seas reprendido por él: ^12:6porque quien [Jehová] ama, él disciplina; y él azota a todo hijo que recibe”. ^12:7Si soportáis el castigo, Dios os trata como con hijos: porque ¿qué hijo es aquel a quien el padre no castiga?

^12:8Pero si estáis sin castigo, del cual todos son hechos partícipes, entonces ustedes son ilegítimos, y no sois verdaderamente hijos de Dios.

^12:9Además, hemos tenido padres de nuestra carne que nos corrigieron; y les dimos reverencia.

¿No deberíamos, más bien, estar sujetos al Padre de los espíritus y vivir? ^12:10Porque, verdaderamente, nos disciplinaron durante unos días después de su propio placer; pero él por nuestro bien espiritual, para que podamos ser partícipes de su santidad.

C ^12:11Ahora, ninguna disciplina parece ser gozosa por el momento, sino dolorosa; aún después, da fruto apacible de justicia a los que lo experimentan.

C ^12:12Por lo tanto, levantad las manos que cuelgan bajo, y las rodillas débiles; ^12:13y haced caminos rectos para vuestros pies, a fin de que la parte coja no se puede dislocar, sino que más bien puede ser sanado.

§El complemento (C) Cuerpo: Obedeced la llamada de Dios a ser completa en Jesucristo (12:14 - 13:17)

¶Único (U) Acordad a Esaú quien no valoró su herencia (12:14 - 17)

^12:14Seguid la paz con todos;

y la santidad, sin la cual nadie verá al Señor.

^12:15Mirando atentamente, para que no que alguien se quede corto de la gracia de Dios; para que no que alguna raiz de amargura surgiendo molesta ustedes, y por esto, muchos están contaminadas.

^12:16No sea que haya ningún fornicador, o persona sin Dios: como Esaú, quien por un bocado de comida vendió su primogenitura:

C ^12:17porque sabéis que después, cuando él habría heredado la bendición, fue rechazado:

C porque no encontró ningún cambio de parecer en su padre, aunque él lo buscó fervientemente con lágrimas.

¶El complemento (C) La Ley de Moisés causaba miedo; pero la sangre de Jesús trae la paz eterna con Dios (12:18 - 24)

^12:18Porque ustedes no habéis venido a la montaña que se podía tocar, y que ardía con fuego; ni a la negrura, a la oscuridad y a la tempestad;

^12:18y el sonido de una trompeta, y la voz de las palabras de Dios;

cual los que la oyeron rogaron que la Palabra no se les hablara más: ^12:20porque ellos no pudieron soportar lo que se les había mandado, “Y si tanto como una bestia toca el monte, será apedreada o traspasada con jabalina”.

^12:21Y tan terrible era el espectáculo, que Moisés dijo: “Yo temo y tiemblo sobremanera”.

^12:22Pero os habéis acercado al monte de Sión, y a la ciudad del Dios vivo, la Jerusalén celestial; y a una compañía innumerable de ángeles, ^12:23a la congregación general e Asamblea de los primogénitos que están inscritos en el Cielo; y a Dios el Juez de todos, y a los espíritus de los justos hechos perfectos;

^12:24y a Jesús el Mediador del Nuevo Pacto, y a la sangre del rociamiento que habla mejor cosas que el sacrificio de animal de Abel.

¶El complemento (C) No rechacéis a Él que habla desde el Cielo, porque él es fuego consumidor (12:25 - 29)

C ^12:25Mirad que no rechazáis al que habla:

C porque si ellos no escaparon quien le rechazó que habló en la tierra, mucho más no escaparemos, si nosotros nos alejamos de él que habla desde el Cielo.

^12:26Cuya voz entonces sacudió la tierra;

pero ahora ha prometido, diciendo, “Aún una vez más, haré temblar no solo la tierra, sino también el Cielo”.

^12:27Y esta palabra, “Aún una vez”, significando la remoción de aquellas cosas que son sacudidas, como cosas que se hacen, para que aquellas cosas que son inconmovibles pueden continuar

^12:28Por tanto, nosotros, recibiendo un reino que no puede ser sacudido, utilicemos la gracia, por la cual podamos servir a Dios aceptablemente con reverencia y temor piadoso: ^12:29¡porque nuestro Dios es fuego consumidor!

¶Lo opuesto (O) Continúad observando las leyes morales (13:1 - 7)

C ^13:1Que continúe el amor fraternal; ^13:2no os olvidéis de hospedar a extraños: por de este modo algunos han alojado ángeles sin saberlo.

C ^13:3Recordad a los que están atados en cadenas, como atados con ellos; y los que sufren adversidad, como estando también vosotros mismos en el cuerpo.

^13:4El matrimonio es honorable entre todos y el lecho sin mancilla; sino fornicarios y adúlteros, Dios juzgará.

^13:5Que vuestra conducta sea sin codicia; y estad contenta con las cosas que tenéis: porque él ha dicho, “Nunca te dejaré ni te abandonaré”. ^13:6Para que podamos decir con valentía, “‘[Jehová] es mi ayudador’; y, ‘No temeré lo que el hombre pueda hacerme’”.

^13:7Recordad los que gobiernan sobre ustedes, quien os han hablado la Palabra de Dios;

cuya fe seguid: considerando el fin de la conducta de ellos.

¶Lo opuesto (O) Como sacerdotes de Dios, separad ustedes mismos desde el mundo a Cristo (13:8 - 17)

^13:8Jesucristo es el mismo ayer, y hoy, y hasta las edades. ^13:9No os dejéis llevar con varias y extrañas doctrinas: porque es bueno que el corazón se establezca con la gracia.

Pero no con los alimentos, que no han beneficiado a los que se han ocupado en ellas.

^13:10Tenemos un altar, del cual no tienen derecho de comer los que sirven al Tabernáculo: ^13:11porque los cuerpos de aquellos animales, cuya sangre es traída dentro el Santuario por el sumo sacerdote por el pecado, son quemados fuera del campamento. ^13:12Por tanto, también Jesús, para que él pueda santificar a la gente con su propia sangre, padeció fuera de la puerta. ^13:13Por lo tanto, salgamos hacia él fuera del campa-mento, llevando su reproche: ^13:14porque aquí no tenemos ciudad permanente, sino buscamos uno venir.

^13:15Por él, pues, ofrezcamos el sacrificio de alabanza a Dios continuamente; es decir, el fruto de nuestros labios dando gracias a su Nombre.

C ^13:16Pero de hacer el bien, y de compartir, no os olvidéis, porque con tales sacrificios Dios está muy complacido.

C ^13:17Obedeced los que gobiernan sobre ustedes, y someted ustedes mismos: porque ellos vigilan por vuestras almas, como los que deben dar cuenta a Dios; para que lo hagan con gozo, y no con tristeza: porque eso no es provechoso para ustedes.

§Único (U) Conclusión: Servid Dios en vuestra asamblea local (13:18 - 25)

¶El complemento (C) El Señor Jesús hace ti completo en toda buena obra para hacer su voluntad (13:18 - 21)

^13:18Orad por nosotros: porque confiamos que tenemos buena conciencia; en todas las cosas, dispuesto a vivir honestamente.

^13:19Pero os insto especialmente a que hagas esto, para que yo pueda ser restaurado a ustedes aun más pronto.

^13:20Ahora el Dios de paz, que trajo de nuevo desde entre los muertos nuestro Señor Jesús, ese gran pastor de las ovejas, a través de la sangre del eterno Nuevo Pacto, ^13:21os haga perfectos en toda buena obra para hacer su voluntad;

obrando en ustedes lo que es bien agradable en su vista, a través de Jesucrist;

C a quien sea la gloria hasta las edades de las edades.

¶El complemento (C) Saludad a todos los que están en el Señor (13:22 - 25)

^13:22Y os exhorto, hermanos: soportad la Palabra de exhortación: porque os he escrito una carta en pocas palabras.

^13:23Sabed que nuestro hermano Timoteo ha sido puesto en libertad; con quien, si él viene dentro de poco, os veré.

^13:24Saludad a todos los que gobiernan sobre ustedes, y a todos los santos.
