Spiritual Warfare, Chapter 1.4 (Jude): The Lord will return with his saints to judge the false teachers (1:1 - 25)

 

§Unique (U)   Introduction: Jude to those who are sanctified in Christ: Beware of ungodly men in church leadership (1:1 - 4)

 

       ¶Opposite (O)   Jude to those who are sanctified by God the Father, preserved in Jesus Christ, and called by the Holy Spirit (1:1 - 2)

 

       ¶Opposite (O)   I warn you of certain ungodly men who have crept secretly into church leadership positions (1:3 - 4)

 

§Complement (C)   Body: Outwardly, they are rebels against God; and inwardly they are like dead, fruitless trees and wandering stars (1:5 - 19)

 

       ¶Opposite (O)   The Lord judged harshly those who rejected Divine truth and openly embraced wickedness (1:5 - 9)

 

       ¶Opposite (O)   Woe to these apostate dreamers, for they will surely perish as Cain, Balaam, and Korah (1:10 - 11)

 

       ¶Complement (C)   These dreamers are like spots in your love-feasts and empty clouds, who are spiritually dead (1:12)

 

       ¶Complement (C)   These dreamers are like wandering stars, whose judgment is certain (1:13 - 15)

 

       ¶Unique (U)    These dreamers are murmurers and complainers, who are sensual, not having the Holy Spirit (1:16 - 19)

 

§Complement (C)   Conclusion: Keep yourselves in the love of God and praise the only wise God our Savior (1:20 - 25)

 

       ¶Complement (C)   Keep yourselves in the love of God, and of some, have compassion; and others save with fear (1:20 - 23)

1:3Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write to you of the common salvation, it was necessary for me to write to you, and to exhort you, that you should earnestly contend for the Faith;

which was once for all time delivered to the saints.

1:4For certain men have crept secretly into church leadership, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation:

C

ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into licentiousness;

U

C   and denying the only Lord God,

C   even our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

§Complement (C)   Body: The apostate teachers are like wolves in sheep’s clothing, and inwardly they are like dying, fruitless trees (1:5 - 16)

¶Opposite (O)   The Lord harshly judged those who rejected Divine truth and openly embraced wickedness (1:5 - 9)

C   1:5Therefore I will put you in remembrance, though at one time you knew this:

C   how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that did not believe.

1:6And the angels which kept not their first position, but left their own habitation, he has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness until the Judgment of the Great Day.

C

1:7Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them, in like manner to these fallen angels, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after forbidden flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of Eternal Fire.

O

1:8Likewise, these apostate dreamers also defile the flesh, despise authority, and speak evil of dignitaries.

O

1:9Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring against him a railing accusation; but he said, “The Lord rebuke you.”

 

¶Opposite (O)   Woe to these apostate dreamers, for they will surely perish as Cain, Balaam, and Korah (1:10 - 11)

1:10But these dreamers speak evil of those things which they have never known;

O

but what they know naturally, as stupid beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

1:11Woe unto them!

C

For they have gone in the way of Cain;

U

C   and they ran greedily after the error of Balaam for profit;

C   and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

 

 

¶Complement (C)   These dreamers are like spots in your love-feasts and empty clouds, who have no inner Life (1:12)

C   1:12These are spots in your love-feasts;

C   feasting together with you, feeding themselves without fear;

C

waterless clouds,

C

being carried along by winds.

O

fruitless autumn trees having died twice,

O

plucked up by the roots;

 

¶Complement (C)   These dreamers are like wandering stars, whose judgment is certain (1:13 - 15)

C   1:13These are aging waves of the sea,

C   foaming out their own shame;

C

wandering stars,

C

to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

O

1:14And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, “Behold, the Lord is coming with ten thousands of his saints, 1:15to execute judgment upon all;

O

and to convict all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

 

¶Unique (U)   These dreamers are murmurers and complainers, who walk after their own lusts (1:16 - 19)

1:16These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their own lusts.

And their mouth speaks great swelling words, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.

1:17But, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:

1:18how that they told you there would be mockers in the Last Time, who would walk after their own ungodly lusts.

C   1:19These are they who separate themselves;

C   sensual: not having the Holy Spirit.

 

§Complement (C)   Conclusion: Keep yourselves in the love of God and praise the only wise God our Savior (1:20 - 25)

¶Complement (C)   Keep yourselves in the love of God, and of some, have compassion; and others save with fear (1:20 - 23)

1:20But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit: 1:21keep yourselves in the love of God,

looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto Eternal Life.

1:22And of some have compassion,

making a difference.

C   1:23And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire:

C   hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

1:24Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling,

and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with overwhelming joy,

C   1:5Quiero, pues, recordaros, ya que una vez lo habéis sabido:

C   cómo que, habiendo salvado al pueblo fuera de la tierra de Egipto: después, el Señor destruyó a los que no creyeron.

1:6Y a los ángeles que no guardaron su dignidad, sino que dejaron su propia habitación, los ha reservado bajo oscuridad en cadenas eternas para el juicio del gran día.

1:7Como Sodoma y Gomorra, y las ciudades vecinas, las cuales de la misma manera que ellos, habiéndose dado a la fornicación e ido en pos de carne extraña, fueron puestas por ejemplo; sufriendo el castigo del Fuego Eterno.

1:8De la misma manera también estos soñadores mancillan la carne, rechazan la autoridad y maldicen a las potestades superiores.

1:9Pero cuando el arcángel Miguel contendía con el diablo, disputando acerca del cuerpo de Moisés, no se atrevió a usar juicio de maldición contra él, sino que dijo, “El Señor te reprenda”.

 

¶Lo opuesto (O)   ¡Ay de estos soñadores apóstatas, porque seguramente perecerán como Caín, Balaam y Coré! (1:10 - 11)

1:10Pero éstos maldicen las cosas que no conocen;

pero en las que por naturaleza conocen, se corrompen como bestias brutas.

1:11¡Ay de ellos!

Porque han seguido el camino de Caín,

C   y por recompensa, se lanzaron en el error de Balaam;

C   y ellos perecieron en la contradicción de Coré.

 

 

¶El complemento (C)   Estos soñadores son como manchas en tus fiestas de amor, y nubes vacías, quien están espiritualmente muertas (1:12)

C   1:12Éstos son manchas en tus fiestas amorosas;

C   festejando junto con ustedes, alimentando sí mismos sin temor;

C

nubes sin agua;

C

siendo llevado por los vientos;

O

árboles otoñales infructuosos que han muerto dos veces,

O

arrancado de raíz;

 

¶El complemento (C)   Estos soñadores son como estrellas errantes, cuyo juicio es seguro (1:13 - 15)

C   1:13Estos son furiosas olas del mar,

C   espumando fuera suyo propia vergüenza;

estrellas errantes,

C

a quienes está reservada la negrura de la oscuridad para siempre.

1:14Y Enoc también, el séptimo desde Adán, profetizó de estos, diciendo, “He aquí, el Señor viene con decenas de miles de sus santos, 1:15para ejecutar juicio contra todos;

y para condenar a todos los que son impíos entre ellos de todas sus obras impías cual que hicieron impíamente, y de todos sus discursos duros que pecadores impíos han hablado contra él”.

 

¶Único (U)   Estos soñadores son murmuradores y quejumbrosos, que son sensuales, no teniendo el Espíritu Santo (1:16 - 19)

1:16Éstos son murmuradores y quejosos, caminando tras sus propias lujurias.

Y la boca de ellos dicen grandes palabras hinchadas, halagar a la gente en aras de obtener una ventaja.

1:17Pero ustedes, amados, acordaos de las palabras que antes fueron dichas por los Apóstoles de nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo;

1:18de que os decían, “En el Postrer Tiempo habrá burladores, que andarán según sus malvadas concupiscencias”.

C   1:19Éstos son los que se separan a sí mismos;

C   sensuales, no teniendo el Espíritu.

 

§El complemento (C)   Conclusión: Manténganse en el amor de Dios y alaben al único Dios sabio nuestro Salvador (1:20 - 25)
