C   ^1:4I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers ^1:5(hearing of your love and faith, which you have toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints), ^1:6that the communication of your faith may become effective by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus:

C   ^1:7for we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the affections of the saints are refreshed by you, brother.

^1:8Therefore, though I might be very bold in Christ to enjoin you that which is convenient, ^1:9yet for love’s sake I rather implore you, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

^1:10I implore you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my chains; ^1:11who in time past was useless to you, but now is very useful both to you and to me, ^1:12whom I have sent to you again. Therefore receive him, that is, my own affections, ^1:13whom I would have retained with me, that in your place he might have ministered to me in the chains of the Gospel.

^1:14But without your mind would I do nothing, that your benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly. ^1:15For perhaps he therefore left for a season, that you should receive him forever; ^1:16not now as a servant, but above a servant; a brother beloved, especially to me; but how much more to you, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?

^1:17Therefore if you count me as a partner, receive him as myself. ^1:18If he has wronged you, or owes you anything, put that on my account. ^1:19I Paul have written it with my own hand, I will repay it.

Although I do not say to you how you owe to me even your own self besides.

^1:20Yea, brother, let me have joy of you in the Lord; refresh my affections in the Lord. ^1:21Having confidence in your obedience I wrote to you, knowing that you will also do more than I say.

^1:8Por lo cual, aunque tengo mucha resolución en Cristo para mandarte lo que conviene, ^1:9más bien te ruego por amor, siendo como soy, Pablo ya anciano, y ahora además, prisionero de Jesús Cristo.

^1:10Te ruego por mi hijo Onésimo, a quien engendré en mis prisiones, ^1:11el cual en otro tiempo te fue inútil, pero ahora a ti y a mí nos es útil, ^1:12el cual vuelvo a enviarte; tú, pues, recíbele como a mis entrañas. ^1:13Yo quería retenerle conmigo, para que en lugar tuyo me sirviese en las prisiones del Evangelio.

^1:14Pero nada quise hacer sin tu consentimiento; para que tu favor no fuese como de necesidad, sino voluntario: ^1:15porque quizá para esto se apartó de ti por algún tiempo, para que le recibieses para siempre; ^1:16no ya como siervo, sino como más que siervo, como hermano amado, mayormente para mí, pero cuánto más para ti, tanto en la carne como en el Señor.

^1:17Así que, si me tienes por compañero, recíbele como a mí mismo. ^1:18Y si en algo te dañó, o te debe, cárgalo a mi cuenta. ^1:19Yo Pablo lo escribí de mi propia mano, yo lo pagaré.

 Aunque no te digo cómo me debes incluso a ti mismo además.

§Único (U)   Conclusión: Prepárate para recibirme también (1:20 - 25)

^1:20Sí, hermano, góceme yo de ti en el Señor; recrea mis entrañas en el Señor. ^1:21Te he escrito confiando en tu obediencia, sabiendo que harás aun más de lo que te digo.

^1:22Y asimismo prepárame también alojamiento: porque espero que por vuestras oraciones os seré concedido.
