Romans, Chapter 2.4: The final sanctification of Israel after the Return of Christ (9:1 - 11:36)

§Unique Introduction: Most Jews have rejected the Gospel, despite being stewards of the truth of God under the Old Covenant (9:1 - 13)

¶Opposite Paul wished that he could go to Hell so that his fellow Israelites according to the flesh could be saved (9:1 - 5)

¶Opposite The children of the Promise are the true seed of Israel, not the children of the flesh (9:6 - 13)

§Complement Body: God has elected a remnant of the Jews to be saved, even though the majority rejected the Gospel of Christ (9:14 - 10:21)

¶Unique God has mercy on whom He will have mercy (9:14 - 18)

¶Complement God has power over his own creation, to elect to make one vessel to honor and another to dishonor (9:19 - 24)

¶Complement The Prophets prophesied that a remnant of Israel would be chosen by election (9:25 - 33)

¶Opposite The righteousness of God can only be obtained through faith in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ (10:1 - 15)

¶Opposite Israel heard the Gospel that was preached everywhere, but rejected it (10:16 - 21)

Introduction

This study will finish the last two paragraphs in the Body section of this chapter of Romans.

Notice the Golden Ratio design, that the first three paragraphs in the Body section have the “UCC” design (one unique, two complements); and their themes are closely related, because they are all about the election of God.

But the last two paragraphs are not about the election of God, but about personal responsibility! So the themes of the paragraphs oppose each other.

But these two doctrines do not conflict with each other in the Word of God. God elects based on his foreknowledge, and we are responsible to choose to repent and receive Christ as our Savior; or we will suffer the consequences! Amen.

I demonstrated in the previous study that God never chose any person to go to Hell; He did (and still does, no doubt) harden the heart of chosen individuals like Pharaoh in the Exodus of Israel, so that the power of God might be shown in Pharaoh, and the Name of Jehovah might be declared through all of the Earth.

But hardening the heart is not the same as choosing someone to go to Hell! Please review the previous study if you missed it, because I can’t repeat that material here.

¶Opposite The righteousness of God can only be obtained through faith in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ (10:1 - 15)

Unique “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel, is that they might be saved: for I bear them witness that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge: for they, being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God: for Christ is the fulfillment of the Law for righteousness to every one that believes in him.

Complement “For Moses describes the righteousness which is of the Law, that “the man which does those things shall live by them.”

Complement “But the righteousness which is of faith speaks on this manner, “Say not in your heart, ‘Who shall ascend into Heaven?’” (That is, to bring Christ down from above.) Or, “Who shall descend into the deep?” (That is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

Opposite “But what does it say? “The Word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart”; that is to say, the Word of faith (which we preach), that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved: for with the heart, man believes into righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made into salvation: for the Scripture says, “Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.” For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him: for it is written, “whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Opposite “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, unless they were sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

Comments: This paragraph answers the question: How can I obtain the righteousness of God and be saved?

The Jews were a very religious people, both in the days of the Apostle Paul; and today, in many cases. Paul wrote,

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel, is that they might be saved: for I bear them witness that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge: for they, being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.”

Many of the Jews (like Saul of Tarsus before he met the Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus) believed that the Way to be righteous with God was to obey the Law of Moses and do everything that it said. In other words, salvation by works!

Many people who claim to be Christians are equally zealous for God in the same way: they believe that if they do their very best for God, if they pray daily, if they read the Bible or some religious book, if they were baptized, if they do many good works, then when they die, God will weigh their good deeds against their bad deeds; and if their good deeds outweigh their bad deeds, God will welcome them into Heaven. However, if they have too many bad deeds, then they will go to Hell.

Roman Catholics believe that they will go to a fictional place called “purgatory” (which is actually Hell); and after they have suffered “enough” (no one knows how much suffering is “enough”, not even the pope; so what it really means is that they will never get out, which is proof that “purgatory” is another name for Hell), then God will welcome them into Heaven. Sadly, once a sinner goes to Hell, they cannot get out, except to go to the Great White Throne Judgement; and then to the Lake of Fire. Purgatory is a lie.

But Paul explained that doing good works is NOT the Way to be saved!

“[They] have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God: for Christ is the fulfillment of the Law for righteousness to every one that believes in him.”

In other words, instead of a religion that is centered on man, the only Way to be saved is through Jesus Christ, and Him alone!

John 14:6: “Jesus says to him, ‘I AM THE WAY, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.’”

John 10:1: Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he that enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.”

Matthew 7:13-14: “Enter in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there are who go in there. For confined is the gate and narrow is the Way which leads to Eternal Life, and few there are that find it.”

Salvation must be received by repentance from sin and faith in the Finished Atonement of Jesus Christ on the cross WITH PRAYER

Romans 10:9-13: “But what does it say? “The Word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart”; that is to say, the Word of faith (which we preach), that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved: for with the heart, man believes into righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made into salvation: for the Scripture says, “Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.” For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him: for it is written, “whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

This is one of the most important texts in the Bible on how to be saved! Strangely, those who believe in Calvinism (TULIP) have no problem ignoring it, even though it is crystal clear about how a sinner can be saved:

1) “If you shall CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH the Lord Jesus” ... “with the mouth, CONFESSION is made into salvation”... “the same Lord over all is rich unto all that CALL upon Him”... “Whosoever shall CALL upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

2) [And if you] “shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead”... “with the heart, man believes into righteousness”

There are two components that are required for a sinner to be saved, according to this text:

1) Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (his Finished Work of Atonement on the cross for us)

2) Prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ to ask Him to save me

Paul was the #1 Apostle among all the other Apostles of Jesus! He said that this is the Gospel that “we preach”! Amen.

But today, we have many Calvinists saying that all we need to do to be saved is to “believe” in our head, and all is well with God!

Yes, “to believe in Jesus Christ” is an important part of the Bible Way to be saved, no doubt about it; however, if you leave out the other part, to “call upon the Name of the Lord”, then you are still lost and in your sins!

John 1:12: “But as many as RECEIVED HIM, to them gave he authority to become the children of God: even to them that believe on his Name”

And how do you “receive Him”? When you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior with your mouth, by calling upon Him to save you!

Over the centuries, believers have adopted certain words that we use, such as

“I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and rose again from the dead on the third day, please come into my heart and save me.”

“I believe that you are the Son of God who died for all of my sins on the cross, and rose up from the dead on the third day. I receive you, Lord Jesus, as my Savior; please forgive me of all my sins and save me”

I myself used words such as these when I was born again in 1982! And they were fine! Jesus Christ heard my prayer and saved me, because He saw the faith in my heart that believed that Jesus was the Son of God, that He had paid for all my sins on the cross, He was buried for 3 days, and rose up from the dead on the third day; and in response to my cry to Him to be saved, I WAS SAVED! Amen, and Hallelujah!

The exact words are not as important as the faith in our heart and the prayer that reaches out to Jesus to be saved; God can see our hearts and knows if we are serious with God or not. We can use our own words, as long as the important things are in our prayer of faith to be saved.

But do not be fooled! If you believe that you were saved when you “believed in Jesus”, but you did not repent of your sins, and pray to receive Jesus as your Savior, YOU ARE STILL GOING TO HELL! YOU ARE STILL LOST AND WITHOUT GOD.

Are you smarter than the Apostle Paul, who was inspired by God to write these words that say that we must confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and call upon his Name to be saved? Why would you think such a foolish thing?

¶Opposite Israel heard the Gospel that was preached everywhere, but rejected it (10:16 - 21)

Opposite “But they have not all obeyed the Gospel: for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” So then, faith comes by hearing; and hearing by the Word of God.

Opposite “But I say, “Have they not heard the Gospel?” Yes truly, “Their sound went into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.”

Complement “But I say, “Did not Israel know?” First Moses says, “I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are not a nation; and by a foolish nation will I anger you.”

Complement “But Isaiah is very bold, and says, “I was found by them that sought me not; I was made manifest to them that asked not after me.”

Unique “But to Israel he says, “All day long, I have stretched forth my hands to a disobedient and argumentative people.”

All of humanity are without any excuses before God: they know about Him, but don’t want to glorify and obey Him

Psalm 19:1-4: “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the expanse of the Universe shows the work of his hands. Day after day they utter speech, and night after night they show knowledge. There is no speech or language, where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.”

Comments: We need to remember that Paul was writing about the nation of Israel in this chapter; and why, as a nation, they rejected the Gospel. He is not trying to explain why people in countries that have never heard the Name of Jesus Christ are going to Hell when they die. Paul already explained that in Romans 1:18-20:

Romans 1:18-20: “For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them: for God has shown it to them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his Eternal power and Deity, so that THEY ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE.”

In fact, the Bible is very clear that every human being has evidence before their eyes (the stars in the sky and human beings themselves) that they were created by an all-powerful Creator God; and the implication is that after death, they will have to answer to this God.

If you have a conversation with pagan worshipers of false gods such as Buddha, Confucious, Hinduism, the American Indians, and others: you will find that all of them know about “the God”: they just don’t want to worship Him! So instead, they pray to many statues and graven images of birds, beasts, and creeping things, which are actually demons who are pretending to be gods.

Romans 1:21-23: “Because when they knew the one true God, they did not glorify him as God; neither were they thankful; but they became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened: professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.”

But even in the darkest depths of paganism, where there are no churches, no missionaries, and no Gospel of Jesus is preached anywhere, a few sincere souls have cried out to God, and asked Him to reveal Himself to them; and God answered their prayer!

I heard a story many years ago, about a man in Africa who was searching for God and could not find Him. He prayed and asked God to help him to find Him; and God sent a missionary to this man, late in his life. One day, the missionary came to Him and began witnessing to Him about Jesus; and the man said something like, “Where have you been? I have been waiting for you for a long time!” And the man was saved after he prayed to receive Christ as his Savior.

I have read other recent stories about Muslims in the Middle East who cried out to God for an answer to the question, “Who are you?” They claimed that Jesus appeared to them in Person; and they became believers in Jesus Christ. I do not know if this really happened, but I read these stories on the internet now and then. It could be true.

I believe that if a person truly wants to know God, that God will answer their prayer and send the Gospel to them somehow, so that they can have the opportunity to repent of their sins and believe in Jesus Christ to be saved.

The Jews are guilty before God, even more than the Gentiles, because they have the Law of Moses

John 5:45-57: Jesus said, “Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one that accuses you, even Moses, in whom you trust: for if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how shall you believe my words?”

John 9:28: “Then they reviled him, and said, ‘You are his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples!’”

The Jews claimed to be disciples of Moses, but the truth is that they believed their commentators and man-made religious rules, more than the Law of Moses itself.

This is one reason why I don’t rely upon the commentators on the Bible, like Matthew’s commentary and there are many others that have been written since the Reformation. These tools can be useful; but too often, people who have never been formally trained in the Bible begin to rely on them more than the Bible itself; and this is wrong. The Bible should always be our final authority, regardless of what any commentator says about it.

The Jews rejected Jesus in spite of the mountain of evidence in their own Hebrew Bible that Jesus was their Messiah. The Gentiles (pagans) did not have the Law of Moses, but they did have the Creation of God before their eyes that pointed to an all-powerful Creator God, whom they knew would be their Judge; and yet, they didn’t seek to know Him, nor did most of them want to know Him.

Romans 10:21: “But to Israel he says, “All day long, I have stretched forth my hands to a disobedient and argumentative people.”

I have noticed one thing that seems to be common among many people who claim to be Christian (but have never been born again) and Jews: they are disobedient and argumentative people!

I recently had discussions on Facebook with several people who claimed to be Christians: one of them was a Calvinist, and another claimed to be an “anarchist Christian” (there is no such thing). In each case, they knew a few Bible texts, and they tried to pass themselves off on Facebook as a Christian. And they were very argumentative! In other words, they were happy to go around and around with you about various topics in the Bible to argue their opinions.

I suspected that they had never been born again, because what they were advocating was not Biblical!

But when I asked them to give their testimony about when they had been born again, suddenly they had little to say! In other words, they had never been born again; they didn’t understand what that meant.

Beware of people who claim to be Christians, but they cannot provide a Biblical testimony about when they repented of their sins and received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior!

Simply ask them, “When and how, EXACTLY, were you born again?” If they answer,

“I have been baptized”, “I have been a Christian all my life”, “I am a good person”, “I haven’t robbed any banks”, “I am as good as anyone else”, “I keep the Ten Commandments”, “My dad is a deacon or a pastor”, “I pray to Mary and all of the saints”, “I do many good works”, “I am a good Catholic/Muslim/Hindu/Buddhist/Shinto/Jehovah’s Witness/Mormon/Baptist/Methodist/Anglican/Pentecostal”, “I have spoken in tongues”,

then you know that they are lost and do not know God! They have never been born again and do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior!

How to be saved!

What about you? Have you been born again?

John 3:5-6: “Jesus answered, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a man is born of water and also of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.’”

When you die, if you are one of those who gave one of these answers,

then you will certainly go to Hell, because those are false ways to God!

John 14:6: “Jesus says to him, ‘I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes to the Father, except through me.’”

Matthew 7:21-23: “Not every one that says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but only he that does the will of my Father, who is in Heaven. Many will say to me in that day, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your Name? And in your Name, have we not cast out demons? And in your Name, have we not done many wonderful works?’ And then will I profess to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you that work iniquity.’

The Bible says,

“that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved: for with the heart, man believes into righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made into salvation: for the Scripture says, “Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.” For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him: for it is written, “whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9-13

Are you ready to do that? If so, then find a place to pray privately, and pray this prayer with all of your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against YOU. I am no good, and you are righteous! You are my only hope for salvation! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried, and you rose again from the dead on the third day. I want you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart right now. Forgive me for all my sins, and save my soul. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

Introducción

Observe el diseño de la Proporción Áurea, que los tres primeros párrafos de la sección Cuerpo tienen el diseño “UCC” (uno único, dos complementarios); y sus temas están estrechamente relacionados, porque todos tienen que ver con la elección de Dios.

¡Pero los dos últimos párrafos no tratan de la elección de Dios, sino de la responsabilidad personal! Así los temas de los párrafos se oponen entre sí.

Pero estas dos doctrinas no entran en conflicto el uno con el otro en la Palabra de Dios. Dios eligió basándose en su presciencia, y nosotros somos responsables de elegir arrepentirnos y recibir a Cristo como nuestro Salvador; ¡O sufriremos las consecuencias! Amén.

Demostré en el estudio anterior que Dios nunca eligió a ninguna persona para ir al Infierno; Él endureció (y todavía lo hace, sin duda) el corazón de individuos elegidos como Faraón en el Éxodo de Israel, para que el poder de Dios pudiera mostrarse en Faraón, y el Nombre de Jehová fuera declarado en toda la Tierra.

El complemento Porque Moisés describe la justicia que es de la Ley, que “El hombre que hiciere estas cosas, vivirá por ellas”.

El complemento Pero la justicia que es de la fe habla de esta manera, “No digas en tu corazón, ‘¿Quién subirá dentro el Cielo?’” (Es decir, hacer bajar a Cristo desde lo alto.) O, “¿Quién descenderá al abismo?”. (Esto es, hacer subir a Cristo desde los muertos.)

Lo opuesto ¿Cómo, pues, invocarán a aquel en quien no han creído? ¿Y cómo creerán en él, de quien no han oído? ¿Y cómo ellos oirán sin predicador? ¿Y cómo predicarán a menos que fueran enviados? Como está escrito, “¡Qué hermosos son los pies de los que anuncian el Evangelio de la paz, y trae buenas nuevas de las cosas buenas!”.

Comentarios: Este párrafo responde a la pregunta: ¿Cómo puedo obtener la justicia de Dios y ser salvado?

Los judíos eran un pueblo muy religioso, tanto en los días del apóstol Pablo; y hoy, en muchos casos. Pablo escribió,

“Hermanos, el deseo de mi corazón y mi oración a Dios por Israel, es que ellos puedan ser salvados: porque yo les doy testimonio de que tienen celo de Dios, pero no conforme al conocimiento: porque ellos, siendo ignorando de la justicia de Dios, y procurando establecer su propia justicia, no se han sometido mismos a la justicia de Dios”.

Muchos de los judíos (como Saulo de Tarso antes de encontrarse con el Señor Jesús en el camino a Damasco) creían que la manera de ser justos con Dios era para obedecer la Ley de Moisés y hacer todo lo que decía. En otras palabras, ¡la salvación por obras!

Muchos personas que dicen ser cristianas son igualmente celosas de Dios de la misma manera: creen que si hacen lo mejor que pueden para Dios, si oran diariamente, si leen la Biblia o algún libro religioso, si fueron bautizados, si hacen muchas buenas obras, Luego, cuando mueran, Dios comparará sus buenas obras con sus malas obras; y si sus buenas obras superan sus malas acciones, Dios les dará la bienvenida al Cielo. Sin embargo, si cometen demasiadas malas acciones, irán al Infierno.

Los católicos romanos creen que irán a un lugar ficticio llamado “purgatorio” (que en realidad es el infierno); y cuando ellos han sufrido “suficiente” (Nadie sabe cuánto sufrimiento es “suficiente”, ni siquiera el Papa; entonces lo que realmente significa es que nunca saldrán, lo cual es una prueba de que “purgatorio” es otro nombre para el Infierno), Dios les dará bienvenida a ellos dentro el Cielo. Lamentablemente, una vez que un pecador va al Infierno, no puede salir, excepto para ir al Juicio del Gran Trono Blanco; y luego al Lago de Fuego. El purgatorio es una mentira.

¡Pero Pablo explicó que hacer buenas obras NO es el Camino para ser salvado!

“[Ellos] no se han sometido mismos a la justicia de Dios”: porque Cristo es el cumplimiento de la Ley para justicia para todo aquel que en él cree”.

En otras palabras, en lugar de una religión centrada en el hombre, la única manera de ser salvado es a través de Jesucristo, ¡y sólo Él!

Juan 14:6: “Jesús le dijo, ‘Soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida; nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí’”.

Juan 10:1: Jesús dijo, “Verdaderamente, verdaderamente, os digo: el que no entra por la puerta en el redil de las ovejas, pero se trepa arriba alguna otra manera, lo mismo es un ladrón y salteador”.

Mateo 7:13-14: “Entrad en por la puerta estrecha: porque ancho es el portón y espacioso es el camino que conduce a la destrucción, y hay muchos quienes van en allí. Porque confinada es la puerta y angosto es el Camino que conduce a la Vida Eterna, y hay pocos quienes lo encuentran”.

La salvación debe recibirse mediante el arrepentimiento del pecado y la fe en la expiación terminada de Jesucristo en la cruz CON ORACIÓN

Romanos 10:9-13: “Pero ¿qué dice? ‘La Palabra está cerca de ti, incluso en tu boca y en tu corazón’, es decir, la Palabra de fe (que predicamos), que si confesarás con tu boca al Señor Jesús, y creerás en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos, tú serás salvado: porque con el corazón, el hombre cree para justicia, y con la boca, la confesión se hace para la salvación: porque la Escritura dice, ‘cualquiera que en él creyere, no será avergonzado’. Porque no hay diferencia entre el judio y el gentil: porque el mismo Señor sobre todo es rico a todos los que le invocan: porque [está escrito], ‘Cualquiera que llamará sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado’”.

¡Este es uno de los textos más importantes de la Biblia sobre cómo ser salvado! Curiosamente, quienes creen en el calvinismo (TULIP) no tienen problema en ignorarlo, aunque está muy claro cómo se puede salvar a un pecador: si

1) “Si CONFESARÁS CON TU BOCA al Señor Jesús” ... “con la boca, LA CONFESIÓN se hace para la salvación”... “el mismo Señor sobre todo es rico a todos los que le INVOCAN”... “Cualquiera que LLAMARÁ sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado”.

2) [Y si tu] “creerás en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos”... “con el corazón, el hombre cree para justicia”.

Hay dos componentes que se requieren para que un pecador sea salvado:

1) La fe en el Señor Jesucristo (su Obra terminada de Expiación en la cruz por nosotros)

2) La oración al Señor Jesucristo para pedirle que me salve

¡Pablo fue el apóstol número uno entre todos los demás apóstoles de Jesús! ¡Dijo que este es el Evangelio “cual predicamos”! Amén.

Pero hoy en día, tenemos muchos calvinistas que dicen que todo lo que tenemos que hacer para ser salvados es “creer” en nuestra cabeza, ¡y todo estará bien con nuestras almas!

Sí, “para creer en Jesucristo” es una parte importante del Camino Bíblico para ser salvo, de eso no hay duda; sin embargo, si dejas de lado la otra parte, “para invocar el Nombre del Señor”, ¡entonces todavía estás perdido y en tus pecados!

Juan 1:12: “Pero cuantos LE RECIBIERON, él les dio autoridad para convertirse los niños de Dios: incluso a aquellos quien creen sobre su Nombre”.

¿Y cómo “le recibes”? ¡Cuando confiesas a Jesucristo como tu Salvador con la boca, invocándole para que te salve!

A lo largo de los siglos, los creyentes han adoptado ciertas palabras que usamos, como

“Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día, por favor entra en mi corazón y sálvame”.

“Creo que eres el Hijo de Dios que murió por todos mis pecados en la cruz y resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer día. Te recibo, Señor Jesús, como mi Salvador; por favor perdoname de todos mis pecados y sálvame”.

¡Yo mismo usé palabras como estas cuando nací de nuevo en 1982! ¡Y ellos estaban bien! Jesucristo escuchó mi oración y me salvó, porque vio la fe en mi corazón que creía que Jesús era el Hijo de Dios, que Él había pagado por todos mis pecados en la cruz, fue sepultado por 3 días y resucitó de entre los muertos al tercer día; y en respuesta a mi clamor a Él para que fuera salvado, ¡FUI SALVADO! ¡Amén y Aleluya!

Las palabras exactas no son tan importantes como la fe en nuestro corazón y la oración que pide a Jesús misericordia y perdón para ser salvado; Dios puede ver nuestros corazones y sabe si hablamos en serio con Dios o no. Podemos usar nuestras propias palabras, siempre y cuando las cosas importantes estén en nuestra oración de fe para ser salvados.

¡Pero no se deje engañar! Si crees que fuiste salvado cuando “creíste en Jesús”, pero tú no te arrepentiste de tus pecados y oras para recibir a Jesús como tu Salvador, ¡AÚN VAS AL INFIERNO! AÚN ESTÁS PERDIDO Y SIN DIOS.

¿Eres más inteligente que el apóstol Pablo, quien fue inspirado por Dios para escribir estas palabras que dicen que debemos confesar con la boca al Señor Jesús e invocar su Nombre para ser salvados? ¿Por qué pensarías algo tan tonto?

¶Lo opuesto Israel escuchó el Evangelio que se predicaba en todas partes, pero lo rechazó (10:16 - 21)

Lo opuesto “Pero ellos no han todos obedecido el Evangelio, porque Isaías dice, ‘Señor, ¿quién ha creído nuestro mensaje?’. Así pues, la fe viene por el oír; y el oír por la Palabra de Dios.

Lo opuesto “Pero digo, ‘¿Ellos no han escuchado acerca del único Dios verdadero?’. Si verdaderamente, ‘El sonido de ellos fue a través de toda la tierra, y sus palabras hasta los fines del mundo’”.

El complemento “Pero digo, ‘¿No lo sabía Israel?’. Primeramente Moisés dice, ‘Os provocaré a los celos por los que no son una nación; y por una nación insensata os enojaré’.

El complemento “Pero Isaías es muy atrevido, y dice, ‘Fui hallado por los que no me buscaban; me puse manifiesto a los que no preguntaban para mí’.

Único “Pero a Israel le él dice, “Todo el día, yo he extendido mis manos hasta un pueblo rebelde y discutidor’”.

Toda la humanidad no tiene excusas ante Dios: saben de Él, pero no quieren glorificarlo ni obedecerlo

Salmo 19:1-4: “Los cielos están diciendo la gloria de Dios, y la extensión del Universo muestra el trabajo de sus manos. Día tras día pronuncian discurso, y noche tras noche muestran conocimiento. No hay habla ni lenguaje, donde su voz no ha sido escuchada. Su línea se ha salido a través de toda la tierra y sus palabras hasta el fin del mundo”.

Comentarios: Necesitamos recordar que Pablo estaba escribiendo sobre la nación de Israel en este capítulo; y por qué, como nación, rechazaron el Evangelio. No está tratando de explicar por qué las personas en países que nunca han escuchado el Nombre de Jesucristo van al infierno cuando mueren. Pablo ya explicó eso en Romanos 1:18-20:

Romanos 1:18-20: “Porque la ira de Dios se revela desde el Cielo contra toda impiedad e injusticia de los hombres, quienes suprimen la verdad en injusticia: porque lo que puede ser conocido de Dios se manifiesta en ellos: porque Dios lo ha mostrado a ellos. Porque las cosas invisibles de él desde la creación del mundo se ven claramente, siendo entendido por las cosas que se hacen; incluso su poder Eterno y Deidad, para que ELLOS ESTÁN SIN EXCUSA”.

De hecho, la Biblia es muy clara en que cada ser humano tiene evidencia ante sus ojos (las estrellas en el cielo y los propios seres humanos) de que ellos fueron creados por un Dios Creador todopoderoso; y la implicación es que después de la muerte, tendrán que responder ante este Dios.

Si tiene una conversación con adoradores paganos de dioses falsos como el budismo, el taoísmo, el hinduismo, los indios americanos y otros: encontrarás que todos ellos saben acerca de “el Dios”: ¡Simplemente no quieren adorarlo! Por eso, rezan a muchas estatuas e imágenes talladas de pájaros, bestias y reptiles, que en realidad son demonios que se hacen pasar por dioses.

Romanos 1:21-23: “Porque cuando conocieron al único Dios verdadero, no le glorificaron como a Dios; tampoco estaban agradecidos; sino que se hicieron vanos en sus razonamientos, y su necio corazón se oscureció: profesando a sí mismos ser sabios, se hicieron tontos, y cambiaron la gloria del Dios incorruptible en una imagen hecha como un hombre corruptible, y aves, y bestias de cuatro patas, y cosas que se arrastran”.

Pero incluso en las profundidades del paganismo, donde no hay iglesias, ni misioneros, y no se predica el Evangelio de Jesús en ninguna parte, unas pocas almas sinceras han clamado a Dios y le han pedido que se revele a ellas; ¡Y Dios respondió su oración!

Hace muchos años escuché una historia de un hombre en África que buscaba a Dios y no podía encontrarle. Oró y pidió a Dios que le ayudara a encontrarlo; y Dios envió un misionero a este hombre, al final de su vida. Un día, el misionero se le acercó y comenzó a testificarle acerca de Jesús; y el hombre dijo algo como, “¿Dónde has estado? ¡Te he estado esperando durante mucho tiempo!”. Y el hombre fue salvado después de orar para recibir a Cristo como su Salvador.

He leído otras historias recientes sobre musulmanes en el Medio Oriente que clamaron a Dios pidiendo una respuesta a la pregunta: “¿Quién eres?”. Afirmaron que Jesús se les apareció en persona; y se hicieron creyentes en Jesucristo. No sé si esto realmente sucedió, pero de vez en cuando leo estas historias en Internet. Podría ser verdad.

Creo que si una persona realmente quiere conocer a Dios, Dios responderá su oración y le enviará el Evangelio de alguna manera, para que pueda tener la oportunidad de arrepentirse de sus pecados y creer en Jesucristo para ser salvado.

Los judíos son culpables ante Dios, aún más que los gentiles, porque tienen la Ley de Moisés

Juan 5:45-57: Jesus said, “No penséis que yo os acusaré al Padre; hay uno que os acusa, incluso Moisés, en quien ustedes confiáis: porque si habíais creído a Moisés, me hubierais creído; porque él escribió de mí. Pero si no creéis a sus escritos, ¿cómo creeréis a mis palabras?”.

Juan 9:28: “Entonces le injuriaron, y dijeron, ‘¡Tú eres su discípulo; pero somos discípulos de Moisés!’”.

Los judíos afirmaban ser discípulos de Moisés, pero la verdad es que creían en sus comentaristas y en las reglas religiosas creadas por el hombre, más que la propia Ley de Moisés.

Esta es una de las razones por las que no me baso en los comentaristas de la Biblia, como el comentario de Mateo y muchos otros que se han escrito desde la Reforma. Estas herramientas pueden resultar útiles; pero con demasiada frecuencia, las personas que nunca han sido capacitadas formalmente en la Biblia comienzan a confiar en ellas más que en la Biblia misma; y esto está mal. La Biblia siempre debe ser nuestra autoridad final, independientemente de lo que algún comentarista diga al respecto.

Los judíos rechazaron a Jesús a pesar de la montaña de evidencia en su propia Biblia hebrea de que Jesús era su Mesías. Los gentiles (paganos) no tenían la Ley de Moisés, pero sí tenían ante sus ojos la Creación de Dios que apuntaba a un Dios Creador todopoderoso, a quien sabían que sería su Juez; y, sin embargo, no buscaron conocerlo, ni la mayoría de ellos quería conocerle.

Romanos 10:21: “Pero a Israel le él dice, “Todo el día, yo he extendido mis manos hasta un pueblo rebelde y discutidor”.

He notado una cosa que parece ser común entre mucha gente que dicen ser cristianas (pero que nunca han nacido de nuevo) y judías: ¡son personas desobedientes y discutidoras!

Recientemente tuve discusiones en Facebook con varias personas que decían ser cristianas: una de ellas era calvinista y otra decía ser “cristiana anarquista” (no existe tal cosa). En cada caso, conocían algunos textos bíblicos e intentaron hacerse pasar por cristianos en Facebook. ¡Y fueron muy discutidores! En otras palabras, estaban felices de hablar contigo sobre varios temas de la Biblia para discutir sus opiniones.

¡Sospeché que nunca hubieran nacido de nuevo, porque lo que defendían no era bíblico!

Pero cuando les pedí que dieran su testimonio sobre cuando habían nacido de nuevo, ¡de repente tenían poco que decir! En otras palabras, nunca habían nacido de nuevo; no entendieron lo que eso significaba.

¡Cuidado con las personas que dicen ser cristianos, pero no pueden dar un testimonio bíblico sobre cuando se arrepintieron de sus pecados y recibieron a Jesucristo como su Salvador personal!

Simplemente pregúnteles: “¿Cuándo y cómo, EXACTAMENTE, naciste de nuevo?” Si responden,

“He sido bautizado”, “He sido cristiano toda mi vida”, “Soy una buena persona”, “No he robado ningún banco”, “Soy tan bueno como cualquiera”, “Mantengo el Diez Mandamientos”, “Mi papá es diácono o pastor”, “Rezo a María y a todos los santos”, “Hago muchas buenas obras”, “Soy un buen católico/musulmán/hindú/budista/sintoísta/ Testigo de Jehová/ Mormón /Bautista /Metodista /Anglicano /Pentecostal”, “He hablado en lenguas”,

¡Entonces sabrás que ellos están perdidos y no conocen a Dios! ¡Nunca han nacido de nuevo y no conocen al Señor Jesucristo como su Salvador!

Como ser salvado!

¿Qué pasa contigo? ¿Ha sido nacido de nuevo?

Juan 3:5-6: “Respondió Jesús, ‘Verdaderamente, verdaderamente, te digo, que a menos que nazca un hombre de agua y también del Espíritu, no puede entrar en el Reino de Dios; lo que es nacido de la carne, es carne, y lo que es nacido del Espíritu, es espíritu’”.

Cuando mueras, si eres uno de los que dio una de estas respuestas,

entonces ciertamente irás al infierno, ¡porque esos son caminos falsos hacia Dios!

Juan 14:6: “Jesús le dijo, ‘Soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida; nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí’”.

Mateo 7:21-23: “No todo el que me dice, ‘Señor, Señor’, entrará en el Reino del Cielo; sino el que hace la voluntad de mi Padre quien está en el Cielo. Muchos me dirán en aquel día, diciendo: ‘Señor, Señor, ¿no hemos profetizado en tu Nombre? Y en tu Nombre, ¿no hemos echado fuera demonios? Y en tu Nombre, ¿no hemos hecho muchas obras maravillosas?’. Y entonces yo profesaré a ellos, ‘Nunca os conocí; apartaos de mí, obradores de maldad’”.

La Biblia dice,

“que si confesarás con tu boca al Señor Jesús, y creerás en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos, tú serás salvado: porque con el corazón, el hombre cree para justicia, y con la boca, la confesión se hace para la salvación: porque la Escritura dice, “cualquiera que en él creyere, no será avergonzado”. Porque no hay diferencia entre el judio y el gentil: porque el mismo Señor sobre todo es rico a todos los que le invocan: porque está escrito, “Cualquiera que llamará sobre el Nombre del Señor será salvado”. Romanos 10:9-13

Estas listo para hacer eso? Si es así, entonces busca un lugar para orar en privado y haz esta oración con todo tu corazón al Señor Jesucristo:

“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra TI. ¡No soy bueno y tú eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados, fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
