Proverbs 3:5-10: “Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge
him as Lord; and he shall direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear Jehovah, and depart from evil. It shall be health to your
navel, and marrow to your bones. Honor Jehovah with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase: so your barns shall be
filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine.
Is tithing a biblical practice for Christians today?
Tithing is a very controversial topic among believers in Christ. What makes it more difficult is the fact that many false
prophets abuse the doctrine of tithing: they constantly preach on the topic of giving; and they demand the tithe while they live in mansions,
fly in private jets, and wear the most expensive clothes. This is usually connected with the “health and wealth gospel”, that if you give
a thousand dollars, God will give you two thousand or more in return; and that God wants everyone to be healthy and wealthy. This is false
teaching! I will explain this in the study.
Nevertheless, in spite of all of the abuse of the doctrine of tithing, I believe that it is a biblical practice for Christians
today; and in this study, I will present the Biblical case for tithing. First, I will explain the basic principles, and then the Biblical
support for tithing.
What is the tithe?
The tithe is a gift to the church of 10% of your gross income each week, or whenever you get paid.
What is the basic principle behind tithing?
1) God the Creator owns everything, because He made everything, including us.
Genesis 1:26-27: “And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the
sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the animals, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”
So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female.”
1 Corinthians 10:26: “for [it is written], ‘the earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.’”
2) God has also given the Earth and everything in it to humans to rule over and subdue it using technology for our needs,
and also to farm and harvest it for our sustenance.
Genesis 1:28-30: “And God blessed them; and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth; and subdue
it; and rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.’
Genesis 9:1-3: “And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, ‘Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth. And
the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every bird of the air, upon all that moves upon the
earth and upon all the fish of the sea: into your hand are they delivered. Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you, even as
the green herb have I given you all things.’”
3) Tithing is the way that God has commanded to give back a small portion of what God gave us to use for his glory: so that
the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ can flourish and bring an abundant harvest of souls for the Kingdom of God.
What is the purpose of tithing?
Tithing provides the needs of the ministry of your local church: to pay the salary and benefits of the church pastor and
staff (if any); to print flyers and tracts, church bulletins, and Sunday school material; to pay the electricity bill for the light, air
conditioning for the summer, and gas or oil bill for the heating during the winter; to pay the mortgage and taxes on the church property.
The Lord Jesus Christ gave the church his Great Commission: to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.
Then, for those who respond in obedience to the Gospel command to repent and believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior: to baptize them, and
to teach them to obey all things, whatsoever He has commanded us:
Mark 16:15-16: “And he said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature; he that believes
and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned.”
Matthew 28:18-20: “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority was given to me in Heaven and upon earth. Therefore
go, and train disciples out of all nations; baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them
to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you. And, lo, I am with you always, even until the end of the Age.’ Amen.”
How can the local church obey this command of Jesus Christ without money to carry out the Great Commission? It cannot; there
are about eight billion people in the world. Personal soul winning alone cannot reach all of these people with the saving message of the
Gospel of Jesus Christ!
Where did the practice of tithing begin?
God established the principle of the tithe in the Garden of Eden in Genesis.
God gave Adam the freedom to use anything that He had made in the Garden of Eden, except for one small portion of the Garden
exclusively for Himself! This was not a tithe per se, but it is the same principle: God owns everything; He allows the believer to use almost
everything for his own needs; but God wants a small portion for Himself and his purposes alone:
Genesis 2:15-17: “And Jehovah God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to tend it, and to keep it. And Jehovah
God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall
not eat of it: for in the day that you eat of it you shall begin to die.”
Summary: God owns everything, including us. God graciously gave Adam and Eve the freedom to use his Creation in any way
that they desired (constrained only by his moral Law); but God set aside a portion of his Creation only for Himself. Transgressing this
command was a sin against God.
It should be obvious that this happened thousands of years before the Law of Moses! Therefore, tithing did not originate
with the Law of Moses.
Cain brought the firstfruits of his harvest of the field and Abel offered a sacrificial lamb to God
Genesis 4:2b-4: "Now Abel was a shepherd of sheep; but Cain was a farmer; and in process of time it came to pass, that
Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to Jehovah. And Abel, he also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of its fat."
This shows that giving to God was a very early tradition in human history. These offerings are very similar to the command
of God in Proverbs 3:9-10:
Proverbs 3:9-10: “Honor Jehovah with your substance, and with THE FIRSTFRUITS OF ALL YOUR INCREASE: so your barns shall
be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine.”
Before the Law of Moses, Abraham gave tithes of everything to Melchisedec, a type of Christ
Later in Genesis, Abraham gave a tithe of all the plunder of the kings to Melchisedec (a type of Christ). Gen 14:20; Hebrews
7:1-9.
Genesis 14:16-20: “And he brought back all the goods; and he also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the
women also, and the people. And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedor-laomer and of the kings
that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine; and he
was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, ‘Blessed is Abram of the most high God, possessor of Heaven and earth.
And blessed is the most high God, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.’ And Abram gave him tithes of everything.”
The plunder included gold and silver (money and jewelry), and the goods of Sodom that had been looted from the city, which
may have included food and crops. Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of everything. So the tithe in this case was mainly money, and may have
included food and crops.
Traditionally, the Jews believe that Melchizedek was Shem, the most important son of Noah. He was the priest of the most
high God, Jehovah; therefore, he was worthy of the tithe from Abraham.
This demonstrates that tithing was an accepted method of supporting the work of God many centuries before the Law of Moses.
The Law continued the principle of the tithe from Genesis and (perhaps) expanded it to include crops and cattle
Leviticus 27:30: “And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is Jehovah’s;
it is holy to Jehovah.”
Leviticus 27:32: “And concerning the tithe of the herd or of the flock, even of whatsoever passes under the rod, the tenth
shall be holy to Jehovah.”
Everyone in Israel (in the other eleven tribes) was required to give a tithe of their crops (fruit and grain) to the tribe
of Levi, who assisted the priests of Aaron with the sacrifices that the people of Israel brought to the Tabernacle or the Temple for worship
of Jehovah.
The Levites also gave a tithe from the tithes of the people to the priests of Aaron; and they took turns serving the priests
of Aaron for two weeks of the year; and they worked their farms during the rest of the year.
Numbers 18:25-28: “And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak thus to the Levites, and say to them, ‘When you take of the
children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up a heave offering of it for
Jehovah, even a tenth part of the tithe. And your heave offering shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the grain of the threshingfloor,
and as the fullness of the winepress. In this manner you also shall offer a heave offering to Jehovah of all your tithes, which you receive
of the children of Israel; and you shall give of it Jehovah’s heave offering to Aaron the priest.’”
But the priests of Aaron did not give a tithe of grain, animals, or fruits to Jehovah! They were wholly dedicated to the
service of Jehovah, so they gave 100% of their lives to Jehovah, not just 10%.
The Temple of Jehovah was the storehouse where the tithes of the people of Israel were kept for the use of the tribe of
Levi
2 Chronicles 31:4-8: “Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the
Levites, that they might be encouraged in the Law of Jehovah. And as soon as the command came abroad, the children of Israel brought in
abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, oil, honey, and of all the increase of the field; and they brought in abundantly the tithe of
all things. And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and
sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated to Jehovah their God, and laid them by heaps. In the third month they began to
lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they
blessed Jehovah, and his people Israel.” God promised that He would open the windows of Heaven and pour out a blessing on those who brought
their tithes into his storehouse, which was the Temple of Jehovah. The purpose was that the tribe of Levi and the priesthood of Aaron would
have food to eat and sell, so that they could take care of themselves and their own families.
Malachi 3:10-12: “‘Bring all the tithes into THE STOREHOUSE, that there may be food in
my House; and test me now with this,’ says Jehovah of hosts: ‘if I will not open you the windows of Heaven, and pour you out a blessing,
that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of
your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field,’ says Jehovah of hosts. ‘And all nations shall call you
blessed: for you shall be a delightful land,’ says Jehovah of hosts.’”
The tithe belongs to God and cannot be kept back from Him
Jehovah made it clear that those who did not tithe were cursed with a curse and that they had robbed Him by keeping the
tithe for their own use:
Malachi 3:8-9: “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In tithes and offerings.
You have been cursed with a curse: for you have robbed me, even this whole nation.’”.
The purpose of the tithe under the Old Covenant was to support the work of God in the Tabernacle and Temple of Jehovah
Under the Old Covenant, the tithes of grain and fruits, plus the offerings to God by the people of cattle and sheep for
sacrifice, were the only means of support for the tribe of Levi, which was the tribe that God chose to be his ministers and leaders for
the worship of Him through the Tabernacle, and later, the Temple in Jerusalem.
Without the tithe and the offerings to God, the Levites could not support the worship of Jehovah in the Temple. Someone
had to be there to be the mediator between God and man, to accept the offerings from the people, slay the cattle and sheep, and burn the
offerings in the fire on the altar according to the Law of Moses.
They needed food, clothing, and a place to live. The Levites were given some land on which to raise their own cattle and
grow their own food and support their families; but this land belonged to other tribes; it was a kind of a tithe of land that the Levites
could use; but it did not belong to them. So the tithes were the means of support for the servants of Jehovah!
The purpose of the tithe under the New Covenant is to support the work of Jesus Christ through the local church
Under the New Covenant, God’s way to support his work through the local church is the same!
The local Assembly of believers in Jesus Christ is a Divine institution that God has ordained for this Dispensation:
Matthew 16:18: “And also I say to you, that you are a small pebble; but upon this bedrock will I build my Assembly; and
the gates of Hell shall not withstand it.”
1 Timothy 3:14-15: “I write these things to you, hoping to come to you shortly; but if I delay long, that you may know
how you should behave yourself in the House of God; which is the Assembly of the Living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”
This institution must have a pastor, who normally is married with a family:
I Timothy 3:1-5: “This is a true saying: if a man aspires to the office of an Overseer, he desires a good work. An Overseer
then must be blameless, a husband of only one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, able to teach; not next to
any wine; not quick-tempered; not greedy for dishonest gain, but patient; not a fighter; not covetous; one that rules well his own household,
having his children in subjection with all gravity. For if a man does not know how to rule his own household, how shall he take care of
the Assembly of God?”
The job of the pastor is to focus full time on the spiritual needs of his flock, the members of his church.
Acts 6:2-4: “Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples, and said, “It is not reasonable that we, having left
behind the Word of God, should be serving tables. Therefore, brethren, seek out among yourselves seven men of honest reputation, full of
the Holy Spirit and wisdom; whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry
of the Word.”
1 Timothy 5:17-18: “Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the Word
of God and teaching: for the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle the ox that treads out the grain.” And, “The laborer is worthy of his
pay.”
The pastor needs a home to live in, health insurance, food, a vehicle to drive, etc. From where will the money come to pay
the salary of the pastor and take care of his family?
So the needs of the ministry are very similar in both Old and New Covenants! The only difference is the kind of activities
that occur:
In the Temple of Jehovah, the ministry had priests of Aaron and Levites, whose job was to mediate between Jehovah God and
his people, and also to act as judges over the people.
In the local church, the ministry has a pastor, and possibly other pastors and staff, whose job is to serve the Lord Jesus
Christ and lead their church to carry out the Great Commission.
In both Old and New Covenants, the tithe serves the same purpose: to enable the work of God to go forward.
1 Corinthians 9:13-14: "Do you not know that they who minister about holy things [i.e. the Levites] live of the offerings
of the Temple [in Jerusalem]? And they who wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so has the Lord ordained, that
they who preach the Gospel should live of the Gospel."
In other words, God has ordained that the offerings of the church members should be used to support the pastor and staff
(if any) of the local church. This is the will of God! Amen.
Haggai 1:3-11: “Then the Word of Jehovah came by Haggai the Prophet, saying, ‘‘Is it time for you, O you people, to dwell
in your paneled homes; and allow this House to lie in ruins?’ Now therefore, thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘Consider your ways. You have sown
much seed, but bring in little grain; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you clothe yourselves,
but no one is warm; and he that earns wages earns wages to put it into a bag with holes.’ Thus says Jehovah of hosts: ‘Consider your ways;
go up to the mountain, and bring wood; and build the House of God; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified,’ says Jehovah.
‘You looked for much gain; and, see, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew upon it. Why?’ says Jehovah of hosts, ‘Because
of my House that is in ruins; and you run every man to his own house. Therefore the heaven over you is restrained from sending rain; and
the earth is restrained from giving her fruit. And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and
upon the wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the
hands.’”
Important points to remember
1) Voluntary giving according to 2 Corinthians 8:1-9:15 and Galatians 6:6-10 is not the tithe
2 Corinthians 8:3-4: “For according to their ability, I bear witness, indeed, even beyond their ability, they were willing
of themselves: asking us with much urgency, that we would receive the gift, and the fellowship of the ministry to the saints.”
2 Corinthians 9:7: “Every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity:
for God loves an enthusiastic giver.”
Galatians 6:6-10: “Now let the one being instructed in the Word of God share with him that teaches in all good things.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap: for he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh
reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap Life Everlasting. And let us not be weary in doing good: for in
due season we shall reap, if we do not faint. Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to them who are of the
household of faith.”
These texts in 2 Corinthians are talking about a missionary or a special offering of money from the Corinthian church to
the church in Jerusalem; this is obviously NOT the tithe! And this money in 2 Corinthians was given to other people, not their own church.
In Galatians, Paul was talking about voluntary gifts of money (special offerings) or other kinds of help to anyone in the
ministry or even in the church membership.
So then, if tithing is not the plan of God for New Covenant believers today, then how did the early churches support their
pastors and churches?
2) The church is not Israel; and Israel is not the church
This is a fact: the New Covenant is not the Old; however, some things did carry over from the Old Covenant:
1) The Bible itself: We did not throw away the Hebrew part of the Bible: it is a vital and important part of our faith in
Christ, as long as it is properly interpreted in light of the New Covenant.
2) The Moral Law: We still teach and preach the moral part of the Ten Commandments:
Ephesians 4:25-28: “Therefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor:
for we are members one of another. Be angry, but sin not; let not the sun go down upon your wrath; neither give an opportunity to the devil.
Let him that stole steal no longer; but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is
good, so that he may have a gift to share with the one having need.”
The tithe came before the Law of Moses, so it still applies today, just like the Covenant with Noah (Genesis 9:1-17).
In other words, if a doctrine began in the Law of Moses, then (except for the Moral Law) it became obsolete with the New
Covenant; but if it began before the Law of Moses and has not been discontinued with the New Covenant, then it still applies today.
3) Jesus commended tithing!
Matthew 23:23: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin; and have
omitted the weightier matters of the Law: judgment, mercy, and faith. These tithes you should have done, but not leave the other undone.”
4) Neither Jesus nor the Apostles ever said that we should not tithe or that tithing had become obsolete
There is a hermeneutical principle of “First Mention”, which says that once a principle has been established in the Bible,
unless it is specifically changed later in the Bible, it retains the full authority and force of the command of God.
Tithing was never changed by Christ or the Apostles and neither did they ever teach that Christians should not tithe; therefore,
I must conclude that it is a Biblical principle that applies to believers today, as stated by Proverbs 3:9-10.
5) Solomon established the Scriptural foundation for giving the tithe under the New Covenant

you will find Proverbs located in Volume 5, which includes all of the letters of the Apostles, as well as some documents from the Hebrew
Bible: Job, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Ruth, Ecclesiastes.

The content of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Ruth, and Song of Solomon were written in very general terminology, so
that the contents of these documents can be easily understood and interpreted and applied to the lives of believers in Jesus Christ today.
Therefore, they are a perfect fit within Volume 5 of the Golden Ratio design of the Bible, which is aimed at the New Covenant believer in
Jesus Christ:
“Volume 5: The Doctrines of the New Covenant”.
So in the Proverbs of Solomon, he wrote:
Proverbs 3:9-10: “Honor Jehovah with your substance, and with THE FIRSTFRUITS OF ALL YOUR INCREASE: so your barns shall
be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine.”
I believe that this is very significant! If you are using any Bible version with the traditional arrangement, you would
never know that Proverbs still applies to believers in Christ today!
Someone said, “Tithing isn’t taught in the ‘New Testament’; however, the so-called ‘New Testament’ / ‘Old Testament’ is
not the correct arrangement of the Bible! The Golden Ratio design of the Bible is the correct arrangement, as I have proven over hundreds

So when we look at where Proverbs is located in the correct arrangement, we find that it is still “for today”; and so yes,
tithing is for today; amen.
6) Voluntary gifts of money are never enough to support the local church
Unless you have a very generous member who is wealthy, any pastor will tell you that voluntary gifts of money are never
enough to fully support the work of the Lord in the local church. The tithe is the basic plan of God to support his work to reach the world
with the Gospel of Christ.
7) If we take care of the work of God through the local church, God will take care of us
God wants us to HONOR HIM with our “substance”, and with the firstfruits of all our “increase”; and when we honor God with
our tithes and offerings, God will make “our barns to be filled with plenty and our presses shall burst out with new wine”! This is not
“prosperity theology”: this is what the Bible says!
God wants his work through the local church to be supported and encouraged! In other words, when we meet the needs of the
local church for money to pay their bills so that they can continue to reach out to the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, then God
takes care of us! Amen.
That does NOT mean that God will make us wealthy if we have enough faith; or if we give $1,000 to the preacher, then God
will give us $2,000. Any preacher who makes this kind of claim is a fraud and a liar. There is no biblical support for it.
It just means that God will multiply our seed that we have sown in the Work of the Lord Jesus Christ, so that both our need
and the needs of the local church will be met:
2 Corinthians 8:13-15: “For I do not mean that other men be eased, and you burdened; but by an equality: that now at this
time your abundance may be a supply for their need; that their abundance also may be a supply for your need; that there may be equality:
as it is written, “He that had gathered much had nothing left over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.”
2 Corinthians 9:10-11: “Now he that ministers seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed
sown; and increase the fruits of your righteousness: being enriched in everything to all bountifulness; which causes through us thanksgiving
to God.”
Philippians 4:15-19: “Now you Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the Gospel, when I left Macedonia, no Assembly
communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but only you: for even in Thessalonica you sent once and again to my necessity.
Not because I desire a gift, but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. But I have all, and abound; I
am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well
pleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
8) Do not allow your church or pastor to abuse your gifts of money to them
It should be obvious that Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Taoism, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Santeria, and the
thousands of minor cults that deny the Trinity and deny the Deity of Jesus Christ are antichrist religions. You should have nothing to do
with these religions, because they are of Satan; and their teachings will point you toward Hell and the Lake of Fire. Never give any money
to these religions and never attend their meetings!
1 John 2:22-23: "Who is the liar, if not he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist: the one who denies
the equality of the Father and the Son. Whosoever denies the Son, does not have the Father; but he that confesses the Son has the Father
also."
And obviously, many churches that claim to be Christian are not Christian! And there are many crooks, liars, and thieves
who claim to be pastors! So we need Biblical discernment to avoid helping the bad people, and to direct our gifts of money to the true men
and churches of God, where it will be used wisely and frugally, for the salvation of the Lost, and the blessing of the children of God.
The Roman Catholic religion is not a Christian church; and it has not been one since the fourth century. Do not give any
money to this religious monster!
Revelation 17:3-5: "So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness; and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored
Beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with
gold and precious stones and pearls; having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication. And upon her
forehead was a name written: “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”
The "mainline" Protestant churches (Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Anglican) have departed from the Bible since the
days of their founders; and most of them welcome homosexuals, even as pastors. These churches have become an abomination to the Lord Jesus
Christ! Do not give any money to these evil organizations.
Revelation 3:1-3: “And to the messenger of the Assembly in Sardis write: ‘These things says he that has the seven Spirits
of God, and the seven stars: ‘I know your works, that you have a name that you live, but are spiritually dead. Be watchful, and strengthen
the things that remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found your works perfect before God. Therefore remember how you have received
and heard, and hold fast, and repent. Therefore if you shall not watch, I will come on you as a thief, and you shall not know what hour
I will come upon you."
Charismatics and Pentecostal pastors, especially the TV "evangelists" (such as Creflo DOLLAR, Kenneth Copeland [a BILLIONAIRE],
Benny Hinn, Jesse Duplantis, and Jim Bakker) are preaching a false gospel of "Prosperity"; they prey on their church members and demand
tithes, so that they can purchase million dollar jet aircraft, live in huge mansions, and drive the most expensive cars. Their "gospel"
is false; they do not preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Do not give any money to these evil men and women who are using you to enrich themselves!
1 Timothy 6:6-10: “But godliness with contentment is great gain: for we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain
we can carry nothing out; and having food and clothing, let us be content with these things. But they that want to be rich fall into temptation
and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition: for the love of money is the root of
all evil; which while some coveted after, they have wandered from the Faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
Liberal pastors such as Joel Osteen are not preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Their "gospel" of "health and wealth"
is a distortion of the Bible; and he refuses to preach against sin! He is a false prophet that should not receive a single dollar of your
money!
Then there are "community churches" or "evangelical churches". In general, they claim to preach the Gospel, and some do;
but their message is weak: they fellowship with Charismatics or Protestant churches, they refuse to preach against sin; and they allow all
kinds of wicked behavior in their churches; and they preach all kinds of false teachings. Often, they will have rock music, especially for
the young people; and you will see the pastor cavorting about on the stage as if he was a rock star, with explosions and fireworks. Do not
give any money to these churches! They are not serving the Lord Jesus, and they do not deserve any of your tithes and offerings.
Revelation 3:14-19: “And to the messenger of the Assembly of the Laodiceans write: ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful
and True Witness, and the Beginning of the Creation of God: ‘I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were
either cold or hot; so then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth. Because you say, ‘I am
rich and increased with goods; and have need of nothing’, and do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked;
therefore I counsel you to buy of me gold tested in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the
shame of your nakedness not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline;
therefore be zealous, and repent.’’”
Finally, there is a type of church that is not ashamed to call itself "a church"; and in the United States, they use the
King James Version of the Bible. Typically, they call themselves "Independent", "Fundamentalist", and "Baptist". They have outreach programs
such as a Bus ministry to bring children in the community to church, a weekly soul-winning ministry where church members go out to knock
on doors and invite the community to attend the church, they give invitations at the end of every message to sinners to come forward and
receive Jesus Christ as their Savior; and their music is very conservative! No rock music! No "healing services"! No "casting out demons"
services! Just preaching the Bible, living a holy life, being a blessing to the community, and seeking to win sinners to the Lord. THIS
is the kind of church that you should be attending; and THIS is the kind of ministry that you should be giving your tithes and offerings
to! Amen!
Revelation 3:7-13: “And to the messenger of the Assembly in Philadelphia write: ‘These things says he that is holy, he
that is true, he that has the key of David, he that opens, and no man shuts; and shuts, and no man opens: ‘I know your works. Behold, I
have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it: for you have a little strength, and have kept my Word, and have not denied my
Name. Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews, and are not, but lie: behold, I will make them to come
and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. Because you have kept the Word of my patience,
I also will keep you from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to test them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I
come quickly; hold fast that which you have, so that no man takes your crown. Him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the Temple of my
God; and he shall never go out again. And I will write upon him the Name of my God, and the name of the city of my God (which is new Jerusalem,
which is coming down out of Heaven from my God), and my new Name. He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the Assemblies.’’”
Conclusion
Acts 20:35: "I have shown you all things, how that so laboring you should support the weak, and remember the words of the
Lord Jesus: how he said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
My view: tithing is the beginning of New Covenant giving (as I showed above); then there are missions offerings (2 Cor 8
and 9), and special offerings (Galatians 6). I believe that we are robbing God if we aren’t doing the minimum. Missions and special offerings
are completely voluntary but are encouraged.
The scriptural purpose of giving is to give our whole self to God first, and then give as God leads us to do.
2 Cor 8:5: “And they did this, not as we expected, but they first gave their own selves to the Lord; and to us, by the
will of God.”
Tithing has been abused by the false prophets so much that many believers are wary of the doctrine, which is completely
understandable. But the Bible must be the ultimate authority for all matters of faith and practice. We cannot choose what we want to obey
from the Bible.
Also, the Lord Jesus sees what the false prophets are doing! They will not escape his Judgement, which is always just! Our
responsibility is to be faithful.
Ezekiel 34:1-10: “And the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ‘Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy,
and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Jehovah to the shepherds: Woe to the shepherds of Israel that feed themselves! Should not the shepherds
feed the flocks? You eat the fat, you clothe yourself with the wool, and you kill them that are fed; but you do not feed the flock. The
diseased have you not strengthened; neither have you healed that which was sick; neither have you bound up that which was broken; neither
have you brought again that which was driven away; neither have you sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have you
ruled them. And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd; and they became food to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered.
My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill; moreover, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth,
and no one searched or sought after them.’ Therefore, you shepherds, hear the Word of Jehovah: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord Jehovah, ‘surely
because my flock became a prey, and my flock became food to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd; neither did my shepherds
search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and did not feed my flock,’ therefore, O you shepherds, hear the Word of Jehovah;
thus says the Lord Jehovah: ‘Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from
feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves anymore: for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not
be food for them.’”
Ezekiel 34:16: “‘I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which
was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them
with judgment!’”
You can solve the problem of bad pastors who abuse the tithe by leaving their church! Do not give your tithes and offerings
to any church that preaches “the health and wealth” false gospel!
Ask the Lord to help you to find a church with a pastor that faithfully handles the Word of God (Fundamental, Independent
Baptist); and the pastor lives modestly and sets the example for his flock with righteous living. God will answer your prayer! Amen.

religion, person, church, or work that you can do except in the Lord Jesus Christ Himself!

¿Es el diezmo una práctica bíblica para los cristianos de hoy?
El diezmo es un tema muy controvertido entre los creyentes en Cristo. Lo que lo hace más difícil es el hecho que muchos
falsos profetas abusan de la doctrina del diezmo: Ellos predican constantemente sobre el tema de dar; y exigen el diezmo mientras viven
en mansiones, vuelan en aviones privados y visten la ropa más cara. Esto suele estar relacionado con el “evangelio de la salud y la riqueza”,
que si das mil dólares, Dios te dará dos mil o más a cambio; y que Dios quiere que todos sean sanos y ricos. ¡Esta es una enseñanza falsa!
Explicaré esto en el estudio.
Sin embargo, a pesar de todo el abuso de la doctrina del diezmo, creo que es una práctica bíblica para los cristianos de
hoy; y en este estudio presentaré el caso bíblico a favor del diezmo. Primero, explicaré los principios básicos y luego el apoyo bíblico
al diezmo.
¿Qué es el diezmo?
El diezmo es una donación a la iglesia del 10% de sus ingresos brutos cada semana, o cada vez que le paguen.
¿Cuál es el principio básico detrás del diezmo?
1) Dios el Creador es dueño de todo, porque Él hizo todo, incluidos nosotros.
Génesis 1:26-27: “Y Dios dijo, “Hagamos al hombre en nuestra imagen, conforme a nuestra semejanza; y déjalos gobernar sobre
los peces del mar, sobre las aves de los cielos, sobre las bestias, sobre toda la tierra, y sobre todo reptil que se arrastra sobre la tierra”.
Entonces Dios creó al hombre a su propia imagen; él le creó en imagen de Dios; él los creó varón y hembra”.
1 Corintios 10:26: “porque [está escrito], “la tierra pertenece a Jehová, y todo en ello”.
2) Dios también ha dado la Tierra y todo lo que están en ella a los humanos para que la gobiernen y la sometan utilizando
la tecnología para nuestras necesidades, y también para que la cultiven y cosechen para nuestro sustento.
Génesis 1:28-30: “Y Dios los bendijo; y Dios les dijo, “Fructificad y multiplicaos; llenad la tierra y sojuzgadla, y gobernad
sobre los peces del mar, y sobre las aves de los cielos, y sobre todas las bestias que se mueven sobre la tierra”.
Génesis 9:1-3: “Y bendijo Dios a Noé y a sus hijos, y les dijo, “Fructificad y multiplicaos, y llenad la tierra. Y el temor
y el pavor de ustedes estarán sobre todo animal de la tierra, y sobre toda ave de los cielos, en todo lo que se mueva sobre la tierra, y
en todos los peces del mar: en vuestra mano son entregados. Todo lo que se mueve y vive, os será para mantenimiento; así como las legumbres
y plantas verdes; os lo he dado todo”.
3) El diezmo es la manera que Dios ha mandado de devolver una pequeña porción de lo que Dios nos dio para usarla para su
gloria: para que el ministerio del Evangelio de Jesucristo pueda florecer y traer abundante cosecha de almas para el Reino de Dios.
¿Cuál es el propósito del diezmo?
El diezmo cubre las necesidades del ministerio de su iglesia local: pagar el salario y los beneficios del pastor y del personal
de la iglesia (si corresponde); para imprimir folletos y tratados, boletines de la iglesia y material de escuela dominical; para pagar la
factura de la luz, el aire acondicionado en verano y la calefacción de gas o gasoil en invierno; para pagar la hipoteca y los impuestos
sobre la propiedad de la iglesia.
El Señor Jesucristo le dio a la iglesia su Gran Comisión: ir por todo el mundo y predicar el Evangelio a toda criatura.
Luego, para aquellos que responden en obediencia al mandamiento del Evangelio de arrepentirse y creer en Jesucristo como su Salvador: bautizarlos
y enseñarles a obedecer todas las cosas que Él nos ha mandado:
Marcos 16:15-16: “Y les dijo, “Id dentro todo el mundo y predicad el Evangelio a toda criatura. Él que crea y sea bautizado
será salvado; pero él que no creyere, será condenado”.
Mateo 28:18-20: “Y Jesús vino y les habló, diciendo, “Toda autoridad me ha sido dado en el Cielo y sobre la tierra. Por
tanto, id y entrenad discípulos fuera de todas las naciones, bautizándoles en el Nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo; enseñándoles
observar todas las cosas, cualquier cosa que os he mandado. Y, he aquí, yo estoy con ustedes todos los días, hasta el fin de la Edad”. Amén”.
¿Cómo puede la iglesia local obedecer este mandato de Jesucristo sin dinero para llevar a cabo la Gran Comisión? No puede;
Hay alrededor de ocho mil millones de personas en el mundo. ¡El ganar almas personalmente por sí solo no puede llegar a todas estas personas
con el mensaje salvador del Evangelio de Jesucristo!
¿Dónde comenzó la práctica del diezmo?
Dios estableció el principio del diezmo en el Jardín del Edén en Génesis.
Dios le dio a Adán la libertad de usar cualquier cosa que había hecho en el Jardín del Edén, ¡excepto una pequeña porción
del Jardín exclusivamente para Él! Este no era un diezmo per se, pero es el mismo principio: Dios es dueño de todo; él permite al creyente
utilizar casi todo para sus propias necesidades; pero Dios quiere una pequeña porción para Él y solo para sus propósitos:
Génesis 2:15-17: “Y Jehová Dios tomó al hombre, y él le puso en el jardín del Edén para labrara ello, y para mantenerlo.
Y Jehová Dios mandó al hombre, diciendo, “De todo árbol del huerto libremente podrás comer; sino del árbol del conocimiento del bien y el
mal, no comas: porque en el día que comas de ello, comenzarás a morir”.
Resumen: Dios es dueño de todo, incluidos nosotros. Dios bondadosamente les dio a Adán y Eva la libertad de usar su Creación
en cualquier forma que desearan (restringidos únicamente por su Ley moral); pero Dios apartó una porción de su Creación sólo para Sí mismo.
Transgredir este mandamiento era un pecado contra Dios.
¡Debería ser obvio que esto sucedió miles de años antes de la Ley de Moisés! Por lo tanto, el diezmo no se originó con la
Ley de Moisés.
Caín trajo las primicias de su cosecha del campo y Abel ofreció un cordero para el sacrificio a Dios.
Génesis 4:2b-4: "Ahora Abel fue pastor de ovejas, pero Caín era agricultor. Y con el paso del tiempo sucedió, que Caín
trajo una ofrenda del fruto de la tierra a Jehová. Y Abel, él también trajo del primogénito de su rebaño y de su grasa".
Esto muestra que dar a Dios era una tradición muy temprana en la historia de la humanidad. Estas ofrendas son muy similares
al mandato de Dios en Proverbios 3:9-10:
Proverbios 3:9-10: “Honra a Jehová con tu sustancia, y con las primicias de todo tu aumento: así se llenarán tus graneros
con abundancia, y tus lagares rebosarán vino nuevo”.
Antes de la Ley de Moisés, Abraham dio diezmos de todo a Melquisedec, un tipo de Cristo
Más adelante en Génesis, Abraham (or Abram) dio el diezmo de todo el botín de los reyes a Melquisedec (un tipo de Cristo).
Génesis 14:20; Hebreos 7:1-9.
Génesis 14:16-20: “Y recobró todos los bienes, y también a Lot su hermano, y sus bienes, y también a las mujeres, y a la
gente. Y cuando volvía de derrotar a Quedorlaomer y a los reyes que con él estaban, salió el rey de Sodoma a recibirlo al valle de Save,
que es el valle del rey. Entonces Melquisedec, rey de Salem, el cual era sacerdote del Dios Altísimo, sacó pan y vino. Y le bendijo, y dijo,
'Bendito sea Abram del Dios Altísimo, poseedor de los Cielo y de la tierra. Y bendito sea el Dios Altísimo, que entregó tus enemigos en
tu mano'. Y Abram le dio los diezmos de todo”.
El botín incluyó oro y plata (dinero y joyas) y los bienes de Sodoma que habían sido saqueados de la ciudad, que pueden
haber incluido alimentos y cultivos. Abram le dio a Melquisedec el décimo de todo. Así que el diezmo en este caso era principalmente dinero
y puede haber incluido alimentos y cultivos.
Tradicionalmente, los judíos creen que Melquisedec era Sem, el hijo más importante de Noé. Era el sacerdote del Dios altísimo,
Jehová; por tanto, era digno del diezmo de Abraham.
Esto demuestra que el diezmo era un método aceptado para apoyar la obra de Dios muchos siglos antes de la Ley de Moisés.
La Ley continuó el principio del diezmo del Génesis y (tal vez) lo amplió para incluir cultivos y ganado
Levíticio 27:30: “Y todos los diezmos de la tierra, si de la semilla de la tierra como del fruto de los árboles, es de
Jehová; es santo a Jehová”.
Levíticio 27:32: “Y en cuanto al diezmo de las vacas o de las ovejas, aun de todo lo que pasa bajo la vara, el diezmo será
santo a Jehová.
Todos en Israel (en las otras once tribus) debían dar el diezmo de sus cosechas (frutas y cereales) a la tribu de Leví,
quien ayudaba a los sacerdotes de Aarón con los sacrificios que el pueblo de Israel traía al Tabernáculo o al Templo para la adoración de
Jehová.
Los levitas también daban el diezmo del diezmo del pueblo a los sacerdotes de Aarón; y se turnaban para servir a los sacerdotes
de Aarón durante dos semanas al año; y trabajaban sus fincas durante el resto del año.
Números 18:25-28: “Y habló Jehová a Moisés, diciendo, “Así hablarás a los levitas, y les dirás, ‘Cuando tomareis de los
hijos de Israel los diezmos que os he dado de ellos por vuestra heredad, ustedes presentaréis de ellos en ofrenda mecida a Jehová el diezmo
de los diezmos. Y se os contará vuestra ofrenda como grano de la era, y como acopio del lagar. Así ofreceréis también ustedes ofrenda a
Jehová de todos vuestros diezmos que hubiereis recibido de los hijos de Israel; y daréis de ellos la ofrenda de Jehová a Aarón el sacerdote”.
¡Pero los sacerdotes de Aarón no daban el diezmo del grano, de los animales ni de los frutos a Jehová! Estaban totalmente
dedicados al servicio de Jehová, por lo que le dieron el 100% de sus vidas, no solo el 10%.
El Templo de Jehová era el almacén donde se guardaban los diezmos del pueblo de Israel para uso de la tribu de Leví
2 Crónicas 31:4-8: “Mandó también al pueblo que habitaba en Jerusalén, que diesen la porción a los sacerdotes y levitas,
para que se esforzasen en la Ley de Jehová. Y como este edicto fue divulgado, los hijos de Israel dieron muchas primicias de grano, vino,
aceite, miel, y de todos los frutos de la tierra; trajeron asimismo los diezmos de todas las cosas en abundancia. También los hijos de Israel
y de Judá, que habitaban en las ciudades de Judá, dieron del mismo modo los diezmos de las vacas y de las ovejas, y trajeron los diezmos
de lo santificado, de las cosas que habían prometido a Jehová su Dios, y los pusieron por montones. En el mes tercero comenzaron a formar
aquellos montones, y en el mes séptimo acabaron. Y Ezequías y los príncipes vinieron a ver los montones, y bendijeron a Jehová, y a su pueblo
Israel”.
Dios prometió que abriría las ventanas del Cielo y derramaría una bendición sobre aquellos que trajeran sus diezmos a su
alfolí, que era el Templo de Jehová. El propósito era que la tribu de Leví y el sacerdocio de Aarón tuvieran alimentos para comer y vender,
para que pudieran cuidar de sí mismos y de sus propias familias.
Malaquías 3:10-12: “‘Traed todos los diezmos al almacén, y haya alimento en mi casa; y
probadme ahora en esto,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos: ‘si no os abriré las ventanas de los Cielo, y derramaré sobre ustedes bendición hasta
que sobreabunde. Reprenderé también por ustedes al devorador, y no os destruirá el fruto de vuestra tierra; ni vuestra vid en el campo abortará,’
dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Y todas las naciones os dirán bienaventurados: porque seréis tierra deseable,’ dice Jehová de los ejércitos”.
El diezmo pertenece a Dios y no se puede mantener alejado desde él
Jehová dejó claro que aquellos que no diezmaban eran maldecidos con una maldición y que le habían robado al quedarse con
el diezmo para su propio uso:
Malaquías 3:8-9: “¿Robará un hombre a Dios? Sin embargo, me has robado. Pero ustedes decís: ‘¿Cómo os hemos robado?’. En
diezmos y ofrendas. Habéis sido maldecidos con una maldición, porque me habéis robado, incluso esta nación entera’”.
El propósito del diezmo bajo el Antiguo Pacto era apoyar la obra de Dios en el Tabernáculo y Templo de Jehová
Bajo el Antiguo Pacto, los diezmos de cereales y frutos, más las ofrendas a Dios por parte del pueblo de vacas y ovejas
para sacrificio, eran el único medio de sustento de la tribu de Leví, que fue la tribu que Dios escogió para que fueran sus ministros y
líderes para la adoración a Él a través del Tabernáculo, y posteriormente, el Templo en Jerusalén.
Sin el diezmo y las ofrendas a Dios, los levitas no podían sustentar la adoración de Jehová en el templo. Alguien tenía
que estar allí para ser el mediador entre Dios y el hombre, aceptar las ofrendas del pueblo, matar el ganado vacuno y ovino y quemar las
ofrendas en el fuego sobre el altar según la Ley de Moisés.
Ellos necesitaban comida, ropa y un lugar para vivir. A los levitas se les dio algo de tierra para criar su propio ganado,
cultivar sus propios alimentos y sustentar a sus familias; pero esta tierra pertenecía a otras tribus; era una especie de diezmo de la tierra
que los levitas podían usar; pero no les pertenecía. ¡De modo que los diezmos eran el medio de sustento para los siervos de Jehová!
El propósito del diezmo bajo el Nuevo Pacto es apoyar la obra de Jesucristo a través de la iglesia local
¡Bajo el Nuevo Pacto, la manera en que Dios apoya su obra a través de la iglesia local es la misma!
La Asamblea local de creyentes en Jesucristo es una institución Divina que Dios ha ordenado para esta Dispensación:
Mateo 16:18: ““Y también yo digo a ti que tú eres un guijarro pequeño, pero sobre esta roca de fondo edificaré mi Asamblea,
y las puertas del Infierno no será capaz de resistirlo”.
1 Timoteo 3:14-15: Esto te escribo, con la esperanza que yo venga pronto a ti, para que si tardo, sepas cómo debes conducirte
en la casa de Dios, que es la Asamblea del Dios viviente, columna y apoyo de la verdad”.
Esta institución debe contar con un pastor, quien normalmente es casado y tiene familia:
I Timoteo 3:1-5: “Éste es un verdadero dicho: si un hombre aspira al cargo de un Supervisor, desea una buena obra. Un supervisor
entonces debe ser irreprochable, marido de una sola esposa, vigilante, sobrio, de buen comportamiento, dado a la hospitalidad, capaz de
enseñar; no al lado de cualquier vino, ni irascible, ni codicioso de ganancias deshonestas, sino paciente; no un luchador; ni codicioso;
uno que gobierna bien su casa, teniendo a sus hijos en sujeción con toda gravedad. Porque si un hombre no sabe gobernar su propia casa,
¿cómo cuidará de la Asamblea de Dios?”.
El trabajo del pastor es centrarse a tiempo completo en las necesidades espirituales de su rebaño, los miembros de su iglesia.
Hechos 6:2-4: “Entonces los doce convocaron a la multitud de los discípulos, y dijeron, “No es bueno que nosotros, habiendo
dejado atrás la Palabra de Dios, debamos estar sirviendo mesas. Buscad, pues, hermanos, de entre ustedes a siete varones de buen testimonio,
llenos del Espíritu Santo y de sabiduría, a quienes pongamos sobre este trabajo. Pero nos entregaremos a la oración; y al ministerio de
la Palabra”.
1 Timoteo 5:17-18: “Deja que los ancianos que gobiernan bien, sean tenidos por dignos de doble honor, especialmente los
que trabajan en la Palabra de Dios y en la enseñanza: porque la Escritura dice, “No pondrás bozal al buey que pisa a cabo el grano”. Y,
“El trabajador es digno de su paga”.
El pastor necesita una casa donde vivir, seguro médico, comida, un vehículo para conducir, etc. ¿De dónde saldrá el dinero
para pagar el salario del pastor y cuidar de su familia?
¡Así que las necesidades del ministerio son muy similares tanto en el Antiguo como en el Nuevo Pacto! La única diferencia
es el tipo de actividades que ocurren:
En el Templo de Jehová, el ministerio tenía sacerdotes de Aarón y Levitas, cuyo trabajo era mediar entre Jehová Dios y su
pueblo, y también actuar como jueces sobre el pueblo.
En la iglesia local, el ministerio tiene un pastor, y posiblemente otros pastores y personal, cuyo trabajo es servir al
Señor Jesucristo y guiar a su iglesia a llevar a cabo la Gran Comisión.
Tanto en el Antiguo como en el Nuevo Pacto, el diezmo tiene el mismo propósito: permitir que la obra de Dios avance.
1 Corintios 9:13-14: "¿No sabéis que los que ministran las cosas santas [es decir, ¿Los levitas] viven de las ofrendas
del templo [en Jerusalén]? ¿Y los que esperan en el altar son partícipes del altar? Así también ha ordenado el Señor que
los que predican el evangelio deberían vivir del Evangelio."
En otras palabras, Dios ha ordenado que las ofrendas de los miembros de la iglesia se utilicen para sustentar al pastor
y al personal (si lo hay) de la iglesia local. ¡Esta es la voluntad de Dios! Amén.
Hageo 1:3-11: “Vino, pues, Palabra de Jehová por medio del Profeta Hageo, diciendo, “‘¿Es tiempo para ustedes, Oh ustedes
pueblo, de morar en tus casas paneladas, y esta casa está desierta?’. Ahora por tanto, así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘Considerad tus
caminos. Habéis sembrado mucha semilla, pero cosechad poco grano; coméis, pero no tenéis suficiente; bebéis, sino no están llenos de bebida;
ustedes se visten; pero nadie es calentito; y el que gana salario gana salario para meterlo dentro una bolsa con agujeros’.
Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ‘Considerad tus caminos; subid al monte, y traed madera, y reedificad la casa; y pondré
en ella, mi voluntad, y seré glorificado,’ dice Jehová. ‘Buscáis mucho, y halláis poco; y encerráis en casa, y soplo en ello. ¿Por qué?’
dice Jehová de los ejércitos. ‘Por cuanto mi casa está desierta, y cada uno de ustedes corre a su propia casa. Por eso se detuvo de los
cielos sobre ustedes la lluvia, y la tierra detuvo sus frutos. Y llamé la sequía sobre esta tierra, y sobre los montes, y sobre el trigo,
y sobre el vino, y sobre el aceite, y sobre todo lo que la tierra produce; y sobre los hombres, y sobre el ganado, y sobre todo trabajo
de manos’”.
Puntos importantes para recordar
1) La donación voluntaria según 2 Corintios 8:1-9:15 y Gálatas 6:6-10 no es el diezmo
2 Corintios 8:3-4: “Porque de acuerdo con la habilidad de ellos, doy testimonio, de hecho, incluso más allá de la capacidad
de ellos, estaban dispuestos de ellos mismos: pidiéndonos con mucha urgencia, que recibiéramos el don, y la comunión del ministerio hasta
los santos”.
2 Corintios 9:7: “Cada hombre según como decida en su corazón, así que déjale dar; no de mala gana ni desde necesidad,
porque Dios ama al dador entusiasta”.
Gálatas 6:6-10: “Ahora, deja que el que está siendo instruido en la Palabra de Dios, comparta con el que enseña en todas
las cosas buenas. No os dejéis engañar; Dios no puede ser burlado: porque todo lo que el hombre siembra, eso también cosechará: porque el
que siembra para su carne, de la carne segará corrupción; pero el que siembra para el Espíritu, del Espíritu segará Vida Eterna. Y no dejamos
cansemos de hacer el bien: porque a su tiempo cosecharemos, si no desmayamos. Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially
to them who are of the household of faith.”
Estos textos en 2 Corintios hablan de un misionero o una ofrenda especial de dinero de la iglesia de Corinto a la iglesia
en Jerusalén. ¡Esto obviamente NO es el diezmo! Y este dinero en 2 Corintios fue dado a otras personas, no a su propia iglesia.
En Gálatas, Pablo estaba hablando de donaciones voluntarias de dinero (ofrendas especiales) u otros tipos de ayuda a cualquiera
en el ministerio o incluso a los miembros de la iglesia.
2) La iglesia no es Israel; e Israel no es la iglesia
Esto es un hecho: el Nuevo Pacto no es el Antiguo; sin embargo, algunas cosas sí se trasladaron del Antiguo Pacto:
1) La Biblia misma: no descartamos la parte hebrea de la Biblia: es una parte vital e importante de nuestra fe en Cristo,
siempre y cuando se interprete adecuadamente a la luz del Nuevo Pacto.
2) La Ley Moral: Todavía enseñamos y predicamos la parte moral de los Diez Mandamientos:
Efesios 4:25-28: “Por tanto, desechando la mentira, hablad verdad cada uno con su prójimo:
porque somos miembros los unos de los otros. Enojaos, pero no pequéis; no se ponga el sol sobre tu ira; ni deis oportunidad al diablo. Deja
que el que robó, no robe más; sino que trabaje, trabajando con las manos lo que es bueno, para que él pueda
tener un don para compartir con el que tiene necesidad”.
El diezmo fue anterior a la Ley de Moisés, por lo que todavía se aplica hoy, al igual que el Pacto con Noé (Génesis 9:1-17).
En otras palabras, si una doctrina comenzó en la Ley de Moisés, entonces (a excepción de la Ley Moral) quedó obsoleta con
el Nuevo Pacto; pero si comenzó antes de la Ley de Moisés y no ha sido discontinuado con el Nuevo Pacto, entonces todavía se aplica hoy.
3) ¡Jesús recomendó el diezmo!
Mateo 23:23: “¡Ay de ustedes, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! Porque diezmáis la menta y el eneldo, y el comino, sino
habéis omitido los asuntos más importantes de la Ley: la justicia, y la misericordia y la fe. Estos diezmos deberías haber hecho, pero no
dejar el otro deshecho.omendó el diezmo!”.
4) Ni Jesús ni los Apóstoles dijeron jamás que no debíamos diezmar o que el diezmo había quedado obsoleto
Existe un principio hermenéutico de “Primera Mención”, que dice que una vez que un principio ha sido establecido en la Biblia,
a menos que se cambie específicamente más adelante en la Biblia, conserva la plena autoridad y fuerza del mandato de Dios.
Cristo o los Apóstoles nunca cambiaron el diezmo y tampoco enseñaron que los cristianos no debían diezmar; por lo tanto,
debo concluir que es un principio bíblico que se aplica a los creyentes hoy en día, como se afirma por Proverbios 3:9-10.
5) Salomón estableció el fundamento bíblico para dar el diezmo bajo el Nuevo Pacto

El contenido de Job, Proverbios, Eclesiastés, Rut y Cantares de Salomón se escribieron en terminología muy general,
de modo que el contenido de estos documentos pueda entenderse, interpretarse y aplicarse fácilmente a las vidas de los creyentes en Jesucristo
hoy. Por lo tanto, encajan perfectamente en el Volumen 5 del diseño de la Proporción Áurea de la Biblia, que está dirigido al creyente del
Nuevo Pacto en Jesucristo:

Así, en los Proverbios de Salomón, escribió:
Proverbios 3:9-10: “Honra a Jehová con tu sustancia, y con las primicias de todo tu aumento: así se llenarán tus graneros
con abundancia, y tus lagares rebosarán vino nuevo”.
¡Creo que esto es muy significativo! Si está utilizando cualquier versión de la Biblia con la disposición tradicional, ¡nunca
sabrá que Proverbios todavía se aplica a los creyentes en Cristo hoy!
Alguien dijo: “El diezmo no se enseña en el ‘Nuevo Testamento’”; sí, sin embargo, el llamado “Nuevo Testamento” / “Antiguo
Testamento” no es la disposición correcta de la Biblia. El diseño de la Proporción Áurea de la Biblia es la disposición correcta, como lo
he demostrado en cientos de estudios bíblicos en Facebook desde 2014. Vea el diseño de la Proporción Áurea de la Biblia aquí.
Entonces, cuando miramos dónde se ubica Proverbios en el orden correcto, encontramos que todavía es “por hoy”; y entonces
sí, el diezmo es para hoy; amén.
6) Las donaciones voluntarias de dinero nunca son suficientes para sostener a la iglesia local
A menos que tenga un miembro muy generoso y rico, cualquier pastor le dirá que las donaciones voluntarias de dinero nunca
son suficientes para apoyar plenamente la obra del Señor en la iglesia local. El diezmo es el plan básico de Dios para apoyar su obra de
alcanzar al mundo con el Evangelio de Cristo.
7) Si cuidamos la obra de Dios a través de la iglesia local, Dios cuidará de nosotros
¡Y cuando honramos a Dios con nuestros diezmos y ofrendas, Dios hará que “nuestros graneros se llenen de abundancia y nuestros
lagares rebosen de vino nuevo”! Esto no es “teología de la prosperidad”: ¡esto es lo que dice la Biblia!
¡Dios quiere que su trabajo a través de la iglesia local sea apoyado y animado! En otras palabras, cuando satisfacemos las
necesidades de la iglesia local por dinero para pagar sus cuentas para que puedan seguir alcanzando al mundo con el Evangelio de Jesucristo,
¡entonces Dios cuidará de nosotros! Amén.
Eso NO significa que Dios nos hará ricos si tenemos suficiente fe; o si le damos $1,000 al predicador, entonces Dios nos
dará $2,000. Cualquier predicador que haga este tipo de afirmaciones es un fraude y un mentiroso. No hay apoyo bíblico para ello.
Simplemente significa que Dios multiplicará nuestra semilla que hemos sembrado en la Obra del Señor Jesucristo, para que
tanto nuestras necesidades como las de la iglesia local sean satisfechas:
2 Corintios 8:13-15: “Porque no quiero decir que otros hombres deban sentirse aliviados, y tú agobiado; pero por una igualdad:
que ahora en este tiempo vuestra abundancia puede ser un suministro para su necesidad; that su abundancia también puede ser un suministro
para vuestra necesidad; que pueda haber igualdad: como está escrito: “Él que había recogido mucho, no le sobró nada, y él que había recogido
poco, no faltó.”
2 Corintios 9:10-11: “Y el que da semilla al que siembra, también dará pan para comer, y multiplicará vuestra sementera,
y aumentará los frutos de vuestra justicia; para que enriquecidos en todo abundéis en toda liberalidad, la cual produce por medio de nosotros
agradecimiento a Dios”.
Filipenses 4:15-19: “Ahora bien, ustedes los filipenses sabéis también, que al principio del Evangelio, cuando salí de
Macedonia, ninguna Asamblea se comunicó conmigo en cuanto a dar y recibir, sino ustedes solos, pues aun a Tesalónica me enviasteis lo necesario
una y otra vez. No es que busque dádivas, sino que busco fruto que abunde a vuestra cuenta.
Pero todo lo he recibido, y tengo abundancia; estoy lleno, habiendo recibido de Epafrodito lo
que enviasteis; perfume de dulce fragancia, sacrificio acepto, agradable a Dios. Pero mi Dios suplirá toda
su necesidad según sus riquezas en gloria por Cristo Jesús”.
8) Ni permitas que tu iglesia o pastor abusen de tus donaciones de dinero
Debería ser obvio que el islam, el hinduismo, el budismo, el sintoísmo, el taoísmo, el mormonismo, los testigos de Jehová,
la santería y los miles de cultos menores que niegan la Trinidad y niegan la Deidad de Jesucristo son religiones anticristo. No deberías
tener nada que ver con estas religiones, porque son de Satanás y sus enseñanzas te llevarán al infierno y al lago de fuego. ¡Nunca des dinero
a estas religiones y nunca asistas a sus reuniones!
1 Juan 2:22-23: "¿Quién es el mentiroso, si no él que niegue que Jesús es el Cristo? Éste es Anticristo, el que niega
la igualdad del Padre y del Hijo. Cualquiera que niega al Hijo, él no tiene al Padre; sino él que confiesa al Hijo también tiene
al Padre".
¡Y obviamente, muchas iglesias que dicen ser cristianas no son cristianas! ¡Y hay muchos estafadores, mentirosos y ladrones
que dicen ser pastores! Por eso necesitamos discernimiento bíblico para evitar ayudar a la gente mala y para dirigir nuestros dones de dinero
a los verdaderos hombres e iglesias de Dios, donde será usado sabia y frugalmente, para la salvación de los perdidos y la bendición de los
hijos de Dios.
La religión católica romana no es una iglesia cristiana y no lo ha sido desde el siglo IV. ¡No le den dinero a este monstruo
religioso!
La Revelación 17:3-5: "Así me llevó en el Espíritu al desierto; y vi a una mujer sentada sobre una Bestia escarlata llena
de nombres de blasfemia y que tenía siete cabezas y diez cuernos. Y la mujer estaba vestida de púrpura y de escarlata, y adornada con oro,
piedras preciosas y perlas, y tenía en su mano un cáliz de oro lleno de abominaciones y de la suciedad de su fornicación. Y en su frente
un nombre escrito, “MISTERIO, BABILONIA LA GRANDE, LA MADRE DE LAS RAMERAS Y DE LAS ABOMINACIONES DE LA TIERRA”.
Las principales iglesias protestantes (metodista, presbiteriana, luterana, anglicana) se han alejado de la Biblia desde
los días de sus fundadores; y la mayoría de ellas dan la bienvenida a los homosexuales, incluso como pastores. ¡Estas iglesias se han convertido
en una abominación para el Señor Jesucristo! No deis dinero a estas organizaciones malvadas.
La Revelación 3:1-3: “Y escribe al mensajero de la Asamblea en Sardis: ‘El que tiene los siete Espíritus de Dios, y las
siete estrellas, dice estas cosas: ‘Yo conozco tus obras, que tienes nombre de que vives, y estás muerto. Sé vigilante, y afirma las otras
cosas que están para morir: porque no he hallado tus obras perfectas delante de Dios. Acuérdate, pues, de lo que has recibido y oído, y
guárdalo, y arrepiéntete. Pues si no velares, vendré sobre ti como ladrón, y no sabrás a qué hora vendré sobre ti”.
Los pastores carismáticos y pentecostales, especialmente los "evangelistas" de la televisión (como Creflo DOLLAR, Kenneth
Copeland [un MULTIMILLONARIO], Benny Hinn, Jesse Duplantis, y Jim Bakker) están predicando un falso evangelio de "prosperidad"; se aprovechan
de los miembros de sus iglesias y les exigen diezmos para que puedan comprar aviones a reacción valorados en millones de dólares, vivir
en enormes mansiones y conducir los coches más caros. La "evangelio" de ellos es falso; ¡ellos no predican el Evangelio de Jesucristo! ¡No
den dinero a estos hombres y mujeres malvados quienes te están utilizando para enriquecerse!
1 Timoteo 6:6-10: “Pero la piedad con contentamiento es gran ganancia: porque no trajimos nada a este mundo, y es seguro
que no podemos llevar cualquier cosa fuera; y teniendo comida y ropa, contentémonos con estos. Pero los que quieren ser ricos caen en tentación
y una trampa, y en muchas concupiscencias necias y dolorosas cual ahogan a los hombres en la destrucción y la perdición: porque el amor
al dinero es la raíz de todo mal; mientras que algunos codiciados después de ello, se han alejado desde la fe, y traspasaron a sí mismos
a través con muchos dolores".
¡Los pastores liberales como Joel Osteen no están predicando el Evangelio de Jesucristo! Su "evangelio" de "salud y riqueza"
es una distorsión de la Biblia; ¡y él se niega a predicar contra el pecado! ¡Es un falso profeta que no debería recibir ni un solo dólar
de tu dinero!
Luego están las “iglesias comunitarias” o “iglesias evangélicas”. En general, afirman predicar el Evangelio, y algunas lo
hacen; pero su mensaje es débil: se asocian con carismáticos o iglesias protestantes, se niegan a predicar contra el pecado, permiten todo
tipo de comportamiento malvado en sus iglesias y predican todo tipo de enseñanzas falsas. A menudo habrá música rock, especialmente para
los jóvenes; y veréis al pastor retozando en el escenario como si fuera una estrella de rock, con explosiones y fuegos artificiales. No
deis dinero a estas iglesias. No están sirviendo al Señor Jesús y no merecen ninguno de vuestros diezmos y ofrendas.
La Revelación 3:14-19: “Y escribe al mensajero de la Asamblea de los Laodicenses: ‘Estas cosas dice el Amén, el testigo
Fiel y Verdadero, el Principio de la creación de Dios: ‘Yo conozco tus obras, que ni eres frío, ni caliente. Quisiera que fueses frío o
caliente. Pero porque eres tibio, y no frío ni caliente, te vomitaré de mi boca. Porque tú dices, ‘Soy rico, y estoy enriquecido, y no tengo
necesidad de nada’, y no conoces que tú eres un desventurado, y miserable, y pobre, y ciego, y desnudo; por lo tanto te aconsejo que me
compres oro refinado en fuego, para que seas rico, y vestiduras blancas para que te vistas, y no se descubra la vergüenza de tu desnudez;
y unge tus ojos con colirio, para que veas. Tantos como amo, yo reprendo y disciplino; por tanto, sé celoso, y arrepiéntete’’”.
Finalmente, hay un tipo de iglesia que no se avergüenza de llamarse “iglesia”; y en Estados Unidos utilizan la versión King
James de la Biblia. Por lo general se autodenominan “independientes”, “fundamentalistas” y “bautistas”. Tienen programas de extensión como
un ministerio de autobuses para llevar a los niños de la comunidad a la iglesia, un ministerio semanal de ganar almas donde los miembros
de la iglesia salen a tocar puertas e invitan a la comunidad a asistir a la iglesia. Dan invitaciones al final de cada mensaje a los pecadores
para que se acerquen y para recibir a Jesucristo como su Salvador; ¡y su música es muy conservadora! ¡Nada de música rock! ¡Nada de "servicios
de sanidad"! ¡Nada de servicios de "expulsión de demonios"! Sólo predicar la Biblia, vivir una vida santa, ser una bendición para la comunidad
y buscar ganar pecadores para el Señor. ¡ÉSTA es la clase de iglesia a la que deberíais asistir y ÉSTA es la clase de ministerio al que
deberíais dar vuestros diezmos y ofrendas! ¡Amén!
La Revelación 3:7-13: “Y escribe al mensajero de la Asamblea en Filadelfia: ‘El Santo, el Verdadero, el que tiene la llave
de David, el que abre y ninguno cierra, y cierra y ninguno abre, dice estas cosas: ‘Yo conozco tus obras. He aquí, he dado una puerta abierta
delante de ti, la cual ninguno puede cerrar: porque aún tienes un poco de fuerza, y has guardado mi Palabra, y no has negado mi Nombre.
He aquí, los haré de la sinagoga de Satanás que dicen ser judíos y no lo son, pero mienten: he aquí, yo haré que vengan y adoren delante
de tus pies, y que reconozcan que yo te he amado. Por cuanto has guardado la Palabra de mi paciencia, yo
también te guardaré de la hora de la prueba que ha de venir sobre todo el mundo, para probar a los que moran sobre la tierra. He aquí, yo
vengo pronto; retén lo que tienes, para que ninguno tome tu corona. Al que venciere, yo lo haré columna en el templo de mi Dios, y nunca
más saldrá de allí; y escribiré sobre él el Nombre de mi Dios, y el nombre de la ciudad de mi Dios, la nueva Jerusalén, la cual desciende
del Cielo, de mi Dios, y mi Nombre nuevo. El que tiene oído, oiga lo que el Espíritu dice a las Asambleas’’”.
Conclusión
Hechos 20:35: "Os he mostrado todas las cosas, cómo trabajando así debéis sostener a los débiles, y recordar de las palabras
del Señor Jesús: cómo dijo: "Más bienaventurado es dar que recibir".”
Mi punto de vista: el diezmo es el comienzo de la donación del Nuevo Pacto (como mostré arriba); luego están las ofrendas
misioneras (2 Cor 8 y 9), y las ofrendas especiales (Gálatas 6). Creo que le estamos robando a Dios si no hacemos lo mínimo. Las misiones
y ofrendas especiales son completamente voluntarias pero se les anima.
El propósito bíblico de dar es entregar todo nuestro ser a Dios primero, y luego dar como Dios nos indique que lo hagamos.
2 Corintios 8:5: “E hicieron esto, no como esperábamos, sino primero se entregaron a sí mismos al Señor; y hasta nosotros,
por la voluntad de Dios”.
Los falsos profetas han abusado tanto del diezmo que muchos creyentes desconfían de la doctrina, que es completamente comprensible.
Pero la Biblia debe ser la autoridad suprema para todos los asuntos de fe y práctica. No podemos elegir lo que queremos obedecer de la Biblia.
¡Además, el Señor Jesús ve lo que están haciendo los falsos profetas! ¡No escaparán a su juicio, que siempre es justo! Nuestra
responsabilidad es ser fieles.
Ezequiel 34:1-10: “Y la Palabra de Jehová vino a mí, diciendo, “Hijo de hombre, profetiza contra los pastores de Israel;
profetiza, y diles a los pastores, ‘Así dice Jehová el Señor: ‘¡Ay de los pastores de Israel que se alimentan a sí mismos! ¿No deben los
pastores apacentar los rebaños? Coméis la grosura, y os vestís de la lana; la engordada degolláis, pero no apacentáis las ovejas. No fortalecisteis
las débiles, ni curasteis la enferma; ni habéis vendado lo que estaba roto; ni habéis vuelto a traer que cual fue ahuyentado; ni habéis
buscado lo que se había perdido; sino con fuerza y con crueldad los habéis gobernado. Y ellas fueron dispersadas por falta de pastor;
y se convirtieron en comida para todas las bestias del campo, cuando ellos estaban dispersados. Mis ovejas vagaron por todos los montes,
y por cada collado alto; además, mis ovejas estaban esparcidas por toda la faz de la tierra, y nadie las buscaba ni las buscaba.
Por tanto, pastores, oíd Palabra de Jehová: ‘Como vivo yo,’ dice Jehová el Señor: ‘que por cuanto mi rebaño ha venido a
ser por presa, y por falta de pastor mis ovejas han venido a ser por comida a todas las fieras del campo; y mis pastores no buscaron mis
ovejas, sino que los pastores se apacentaron a sí mismos, y no apacentaron mis ovejas,’ por tanto, oh pastores, oíd Palabra de Jehová; así
dice Jehová el Señor: ‘He aquí, yo estoy contra los pastores; y requeriré mis ovejas de su mano, y les haré dejar de apacentar las ovejas;
ni los pastores se apacentarán más a sí mismos; pues yo libraré mis ovejas de sus bocas, y no les serán más por comida’”.
Ezequiel 34:16: “Yo buscaré lo que se había perdido, y traeré de vuelta lo que fue ahuyentado, y vendaré lo que estaba
roto, y fortaleceré lo que estaba enfermo. Pero destruiré al gordo y al fuerte; ¡los alimentaré con juicio!”.
¡Puedes resolver el problema de los malos pastores que abusan del diezmo abandonando su iglesia! ¡No des tus diezmos y ofrendas
a ninguna iglesia que predique el falso evangelio de “salud y riqueza”!
Pídele al Señor que te ayude a encontrar una iglesia con un pastor que maneje fielmente la Palabra de Dios (Fundamental,
Bautista Independiente); y el pastor vive modestamente y da ejemplo a su rebaño con una vida recta. ¡Dios contestará tu oración! Amén.
¡No me envíen tus diezmos!

COMO SER SALVADO
¿Te gustaría ser salvado, amigo? Puedes convertirte en un hijo de Dios hoy por la fe en la Obra terminada de Jesucristo
en la cruz hace casi 2000 años, y puedes saber que irás al Cielo cuando mueras.
¡Entrégate al único Dios verdadero Jehová, y arrepiéntete de tus pecados y vuélvete al Señor Jesucristo, quien murió en
la cruz por tus pecados y resucitó de nuevo de entre los muertos al tercer día!
Jesucristo es el único Camino al Cielo; Cualquier otro camino (islam, mormonismo, testigos de Jehová, hinduismo, budismo,
bahá’í, etc) te llevará al Infierno.
Juan 14:6 “Jesús le dice: Yo soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida: nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí”.
¡Puedes ser salvado ahora mismo si quieres saber que tienes Vida Eterna en el Cielo, esperándote cuando mueras! Utilice
esta oración para arrepentirse y pedirle a Jesús que perdone sus pecados y que entre en su vida, ¡ahora mismo!
“Señor Jesús, sé que he pecado contra TI. ¡No soy bueno y tú eres justo! Creo que moriste en la cruz por mis pecados,
fuiste enterrado y resucitaste de entre los muertos al tercer día. Quiero que vengas a mi vida y seas mi Señor y Salvador. Por favor entra
en mi corazón ahora mismo. Perdóname por todos mis pecados y salva mi alma. En el poderoso Nombre de Jesús, oro, ¡Amén!”
